DIRTY DEEDS
The first assistant district attorney for Payne
and Logan Counties, Kevin Etherington, has
been arrested on child pornography charges.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation, agents from their Internet
Crimes Against Children unit raided Etherington’s Stillwater residence on the morning
of Monday, Nov. 28. Investigators did not reveal what was discovered at the residence,
but an OSBI spokesperson said that the results of that search warrant provided enough
evidence to take Etherington into custody.
He was transported to Payne County Jail
and booked on one count of aggravated possession of child pornography and one count
of violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
According to OSBI officials, on Sept. 1 of this year, agents from the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded 14 cybertips, linked to
a single suspect, to OSBI’s ICAC unit. OSBI’s investigation identified Etherington, who is 53, as a possible suspect related to the cybertips.
Etherington is currently the First Assistant District Attorney for Payne and
Logan Counties.
According to an OSBI spokesperson, Payne and Logan County District
Attorney Laura Austin Thomas has cooperated fully with the OSBI/ICAC investigation.

NO HARM, NO FOUL
Felony first degree burglary and kidnapping charges were reduced to a misdemeanor against a Stillwater man who broke
into a home last month and held the resident
against her will.
Trey Christopher, 30, was charged November 15 with misdemeanor breaking and entering in Payne County District Court.
A Stillwater PD press release stated that on
Saturday, November 12, at 7:11 p.m., officers
responded to the area of 1400 N. Berry Ct. in
reference to a disturbance. Once officers arrived, they located the victim and Christopher
inside the locked garage.
The suspect entered the residence uninvited, claiming someone was going to harm him. The resident ran to the garage
to get away from Christopher and told him to get out multiple times. Christopher locked himself and the resident inside her garage, preventing her from
leaving. The resident was able to contact SPD and once officers arrived, she
was able to allow officers access to the garage.
Christopher was arrested without incident and was brought to the SPD
jail on suspicion of burglary first degree and kidnapping. Bond was set at
$50,000. His charge was reduced to breaking and entering on November 17,
of which he pleaded not guilty at his preliminary hearing on November 22.

AROUND THE STATE
Gotta catch ‘em all!
For the past several months, the Tulsa
Police Department has been investigating a
fraudulent Pokémon Card Scam.
Detectives were contacted by five victims
across the United States. Victims in Hawaii,
Arizona, Texas, Colorado and Ohio all reported buying rare and high value Pokémon
cards from the suspect in Tulsa, identified as
Michael McCoy.
Each victim purchased the cards for thousands of dollars only to find out the cards
they received were fake.
During the investigation, Detectives partnered with a special prosecutor with the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office
who specializes in intellectual property and trademark infringement. Through
collaborations with Nintendo Corporation, a representative determined that
the Pokémon cards were in fact counterfeit. The cards that were sold by the
suspect had little to no value on their own, however were being sold as “rare
collectors cards” for $350 per card.
On November 1, Officers arrested Michael McCoy at a local Post Office as
he was in the process of mailing more counterfeit cards to another potential
victim.
McCoy is now charged with:
- Obtaining Merchandise by False Pretense over $1000 x 5
- Violation of Trademark Anti-Counterfeiting Act
McCoy also had warrants for his arrest out of Arkansas.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.

12 | DECEMBER 2022 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty CREEK COUNTY
BRISTOW MAN CONVICTED OF
2018 MURDER IN JENKS
A federal jury convicted a Bristow man on November
16 for murdering a former girlfriend’s new dating partner
in 2018, announced U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
Justin Dale Little, 29, was found guilty of first degree
murder in Indian Country in federal court.
On April 22, 2018, at noon, victim Jonathon Weatherford was found deceased on the train tracks in Jenks
with a single gunshot wound to his back. A passerby
called 911 and the Jenks Police Department responded
to the scene.
During the investigation, officers interviewed Weatherford’s girlfriend and asked if she knew of anyone who
would want to harm the victim. She responded that Little was only individual she believed was “crazy enough”
and had “enough motive” to commit the murder. The
woman reported that she and Little dated in high school
and had a child together, and after the relationship ended, Little would often harass the woman and her dating partners. She recalled that Little
had appeared at a boyfriend’s house at 4 am after tracking her phone, cut break lines,
distributed suggestive photographs of the woman, poured water into her vehicle’s gas
tank, and admitted at one point that he had contemplated shooting the woman and a
boyfriend.
In the weeks prior to the crime, the woman said she had agreed to marry Little, only
so their child could receive National Guard benefits. Little was the service member. The
woman told Little that she planned to continue dating Weatherford and that he would
be in her life for a long time. She then told Little that if anything ever happened to Weatherford, she would suspect Little.
Officers also located surveillance video that placed Little at the crime scene in Jenks.
The video revealed that Little watched the victim leave the girlfriend’s apartment around
11:40 am the day of the crime and walk toward his family’s home. Little’s pickup truck
could be seen driving around the train tracks, following the victim for several minutes,
then parking nearby. Footage further showed a man, identified as Weatherford, walking
along the train tracks followed by a figure dressed in dark clothes. The victim and the
figure eventually walked out of the view of the cameras. Shortly after, the figure ran back
into the camera’s view and away from the scene of the crime. Footage then showed
Little’s truck pull away from its parking spot near the crime scene and drive off.
Investigators pulled cell phone data, call logs, and PikePass records that helped confirm that it was Little seen in the surveillance video.
They further recovered a .300 Winchester Magnum Caliber Remington rifle with a
scope and bipod from Little’s residence. Little purchased the rifle approximately a month
before the murder. The medical examiner’s report revealed that Weatherford died from
a gunshot wound to the back. The bullet had traveled through Weatherford’s backpack,
a leather card holder full of several pages of playing cards and into the victim. The bullet
broke multiple ribs before coming to rest just below his front chest. The rifle and bullet
were sent to the FBI crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, for ballistics comparison. A firearms
expert determined the bullet was a .30 caliber round fired from a barrel rifled with six
grooves with a right twist, which was consistent with the high powered rifle recovered
from Little’s residence. Due to the damage to the bullet, the firearms expert was unable
to determine if the bullet definitively came from Little’s rifle.
Previously, a Tulsa County jury also found Little guilty of the first degree murder of the
victim, but his conviction was vacated following the Supreme Court’s ruling in McGirt v
Oklahoma. The case was then prosecuted in federal court.
The FBI, Jenks Police Department, and Bristow Police Department conducted the
investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas E. Buscemi and Victor A.S. Regal are
prosecuting the case.

Graham Price of South Wales ripped off the bank where he worked, but he wasn’t
completely duplicitous. He left a note in the safe: “Borrowed, seven million pounds”—
signed “Graham Price.”
A Good Samaritan noticed an elderly man being robbed, so he jumped in and
punched the thief. The thief was so upset, he called the police to complain.
When Stephan Crane broke into the Ravelli Republic (Montana) newsroom, he used
the computers to watch porn and check Facebook. Then Crane doused the offi ce with
a fi re extinguisher, took some candy, and left. It wasn’t diffi cult to fi nd him, however; the
police just followed the trail of stolen M&Ms that led to his sister’s place across the way.
When police in Vancouver, Canada, asked to search Jason Pauchay’s apartment
for drugs, he was not a suspect—in fact, they were looking for someone else. That all
changed when they got a look at how his name was listed on his cell phone: “Jason
Pauchay Drug Dealer.”
Two men decided a back-to-school event at an offi ce supply store would be the perfect time to do some shoplifting. After all, store clerks would be busy helping an infl ux of
shoppers. The sale happened to coincide with the annual “Shop with a Cop” day when
about 60 police offi cers show up to help children pick out school supplies.
Adan Juarez Ramirez had it all fi gured out—he could be a cop without having to take
the boring test. But he was arrested in Grapevine, Texas, after pulling over a driver in his
pickup truck, outfi tted with fl ashing lights. He even had an ID badge, which he’d made
by blacking out a restaurant gift card and etching in the word “POLICE.” However,
he’d kept the restaurant’s logo, a jalapeño pepper surrounded by the words “Chipotle
Mexican Grill.”
A Target store in Augusta, Georgia, agreed to take back a printer from a dissatisfi ed

Two machete-wielding men barged into a Sydney, Australia, bar demanding money.

In Mesa, Arizona, a home break-in was foiled when the burglar jumped through the

A DESPERATE SITUATION LEADS TO
BURGLARY CHARGES
A 40-year-old Chandler man allegedly
broke into his neighbor’s home on November
11 because he was hungry and cold.
According to the police report, a Lincoln
County deputy was dispatched to a Chandler residence at approximately 6:26 p.m. to
investigate a burglary. When he arrived, he
met with the homeowner, who said that he
returned to his home and found his front door
kicked in.
Nothing was missing from the residence.
The homeowner said Jerry Edward Hallmark walked out of the woods to speak to
him. Hallmark told the man that he had been
hiding in the woods, tucked away in a hole.
The deputy went to Hallmark’s residence.
He had been advised that the man had a warrant for his arrest through Lincoln County.
Hallmark appeared skinny and in poor health. He told the deputy that he
didn’t have electricity or running water. He only had a wood burning stove that
was located in a barn that was half demolished.
When the officer asked Hallmark about the burglary, the man apologized for
kicking the door in. He said he hadn’t eaten in days, and he kicked the door
in because he was starving and freezing.
Hallmark said he ran into the woods when he heard the homeowner arrive.
The deputy placed Hallmark under arrest for the warrant. The man asked
if he could fill out a statement admitting to kicking the door in. He repeatedly
said he was sorry, but at least he would be warm and fed inside the jail.
Hallmark is being charged with burglary in the second degree. His bond
was set at $3,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 15,
2022.

GUTHRIE, OK
DECEMBER IS DRUNK DRIVNG
PREVENTION MONTH
Despite the fact that it’s illegal to drive drunk, one person was killed every 45 minutes in a drunk driving crash on our nation’s roads in 2020. That’s a total of 11,654
people who died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in one year. Even a small amount
of alcohol can affect driving ability. In 2020, there were 2,041 people killed in alcohol-related crashes where a driver had a BAC of .01 to .07.
Be Responsible: Have a Plan
Your life and the lives of others on the road are at risk every time a driver gets behind
the wheel after drinking. Here are a few tips to stay safe.
• Before drinking, choose a designated driver, or schedule a ride-sharing, ride-hailing or taxi service.
• If you are hosting a party where there’s alcohol, offer non-alcoholic drink options
and make sure all guests leave with a sober driver.
• Always wear your seat belt — it’s the best defense against drunk drivers.
• If you see a drunk driver on the road, safely pull over and call law enforcement.
The Cost of Drinking and Driving
Drunk drivers face jail time when they’re caught, and the financial impact is devastating. On average, a DUI can set you back $10,000 in attorney’s fees, fines, court
costs, lost time at work, higher insurance rates, car towing, and more. And, drinking
and driving can result in losing your driver’s license and your car — imagine trying to
explain that to your friends, family and boss.
The Effects of Blood Alcohol Concentration
Alcohol consumption impairs your thinking, reasoning and muscle coordination —
all vital to operating a vehicle safely. You begin to feel the effects of alcohol at a BAC
under .08.
