Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty PAYNE COUNTY 7 | JANUARY 2018
And the race is on
Cushing woman Shirley Christina Marie
Dutton, 34, was locked up after she allegedly led police on a chase that ended in
Lincoln County on December 12.
The 34-year-old was also driving a stolen
SUV at the time.
According to reports, a Cushing police
officer was dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Howerton Avenue
shortly after 2 p.m. to investigate reports of
a motorist asleep at the wheel of an SUV.
The SUV had been reported stolen the day
before. Police would later find a screwdriver in the ignition.
When the officer arrived on scene, she saw the black SUV turning
around in the roadway. The driver, later identified as Dutton, accelerated South on Howerton Avenue.
The officer pursued Dutton, who blew through multiple stop signs
in Payne County before heading into Lincoln County. The SUV then
ran into a ditch. The pursuit wasn’t over, though. Dutton allegedly
rammed into the back of a patrol vehicle twice.
An officer approached the SUV with her pistol drawn and ordered
Dutton to show her hands. With the vehicle still in reverse, the woman looked at the officer and put her hands in the air for a couple
of seconds. The officer tried to open the driver’s side door, but it
wouldn’t budge. Dutton then put her hands back on the steering
wheel and reversed the SUV at a high rate of speed.
The woman continued to speed through Lincoln County, and
she ran a roadblock east of 3520 Road and 770 Road. She also
rammed into three patrol vehicles.
Dutton was eventually placed under arrest.
As she exited the stolen vehicle, she dropped a loaded syringe.
Officers also found a white pill identified as Clonzepam in the woman’s pocket.
Dutton said the vehicle wasn’t stolen – she had permission to use
it, she just hadn’t returned it yet. She told police she ran, because
she was afraid officers were going to hurt her.
Dutton is being charged with attempting to elude, four counts
of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a
stolen vehicle, running a roadblock, operating a motor vehicle while
driver’s license has been suspended and unlawful possession of
controlled drug. Her bond was set at $25,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on January 8, 2018.

WHAT IS SUBSTANCE
ABUSE TREATMENT LIKE?
Everyone entering treatment
for a substance use disorder is
unique. That is why the patient
and the treatment staff work
together to develop an individualized treatment plan. It may
include some type of behavioral treatment (“talk therapy”)
designed to engage the patient in the treatment process, alter destructive
attitudes and behaviors related to drug use, and increase healthy life skills.
Behavioral treatment can also enhance the effectiveness of medications that
might be available and help patients stay in treatment longer.
Treatment for substance use disorders can be delivered in many different
settings using a variety of different approaches. The following treatments are
a few of many:
• detoxification (the process by which the body rids itself of a drug)
• behavioral counseling
• medication (for opioid, tobacco, or alcohol addiction)
• evaluation and treatment for co-occurring mental health issues such as
depression and anxiety
• long-term follow-up to prevent relapse
A range of care with a tailored treatment program and follow-up options
can be crucial to success. Treatment should include both medical and mental
health services as needed. Follow-up care may include community- or family-based recovery support systems.

DEPUTIES SIT DOWN FOR LUNCH, FIND
FUGITIVE EATING NEXT TO THEM
AROUND THE NATION
While deputies with the Perry County (Tennessee) Sheriff’s Office were out to lunch,
they noticed something that turned a lunch
break into deputies making an arrest.
“We finally slowed down enough to eat
lunch, me and several other of the guys. And
while we were eating, we noticed a known
fugitive that we’ve actually been looking for,”
said Tony Eversole, the Perry County Sherriff’s Office chief deputy.
Eversole said Neil Martin was eating lunch
at the Captain D’s in Hazard, Kentucky right
across from him. He said that Martin is wanted in multiple states for fraudulent business
reasons.
“We had been actively looking for him for several months,” said Eversole.
“He’s wanted by four or five states.”
Eversole said that they did not know how Martin would react, so they let
him finish his meal and waited for him to leave the building.
“We let him eat so we wouldn’t cause any trouble inside the restaurant, and
then we got up as he left and followed him outside and made the arrest in the
parking lot,” said Eversole.
Deputies say that although it was a serious situation, they made a little light
of it after the arrest.
“We wanted to know if he was going to order his dessert to go,” said Eversole.
Martin is being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Special Delivery
A pregnant Creek County inmate is facing
more charges after she allegedly tried to escape from an officer following a doctor’s appointment on December 11.
According to the police report, a Creek
County deputy was escorting 28-year-old
Teandra Lacole Morris to the patrol car from
the hospital at approximately 3:50 p.m.,
when she decided to make a run for it. As
they walked out of the hospital building and
onto the parking lot, the Tulsa woman, who a
doctor had determined was about 7 months
along, removed the handcuffs from her wrists
and took off running south through the parking lot.
She didn’t get very far, though.
The deputy ran after the woman and caught up to her a short distance later
when she fell down between two vehicles. Morris stood up, and the deputy
grabbed her arm and attempted to place her wrists back in handcuffs. Morris
continued to struggle and resist, though, making the task difficult.
A citizen who was walking past in the parking lot helped the deputy hold the
woman down while the deputy placed Morris back in the hand restraints. The
deputy then put the woman in the patrol car and transported her to jail, where
she was checked and cleared for injuries before being placed back in her cell.
Morris is being charged with child endangerment, attempting to escape
from prison other than penitentiary and resisting an officer. Her bond was set
at $41,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2018.

KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS, MAN!!
A drunken afternoon led to the arrest of
55-year-old Russell Henry Haddock after
he allegedly tried to break into a family’s
home on November 29. The Chandler man
also exposed himself to the family, which
included a 6-year-old kid.
According to the police report, a Lincoln
County deputy was dispatched to a residence on S Highway 18 at approximately
1:55 p.m. due to an unwanted trespasser
who had exposed his genitals.
When the deputy arrived, he made contact with a woman and her husband. Both
of them pointed to a wooded area on the southeast corner of their
property. The deputy noticed a man crouched down, and he told
the subject to come out from the tree line.
The man, later identified as Haddock, emerged from the woods
with his pants unbuttoned and only partially zipped. When the deputy placed him in investigate detention, he noticed the man smelled
like alcohol.
In separate interviews, both the woman and her husband told the
officer that Haddock had knocked on their front door earlier that
afternoon. The woman answered it, and Haddock tried to push his
way in, prompting her to call her husband for help. The husband
went to speak to Haddock on the porch, but the man tried to force
his way back into the house. The husband pulled him back outside.
Haddock then went to the family’s truck and sat in one of the
seats.
The husband said he told the man several times to leave the property, but Haddock refused. At one point, Haddock walked through
the family’s front yard. As he did so, he turned to the window where
the couple was standing with their child, and exposed his penis to
them.
Haddock is being charged with indecent exposure, burglary in the
second degree, attempted burglary in the second degree, all after
former conviction of two or more felonies, and public intoxication.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on January 8, 2018.

Edmond man arrested for
Logan County hit-and-run
30-year-old Mark Ronald Robbins was
arrested for the death of a woman after he
admitted to striking her with his vehicle in a
hit-and-run accident off I-35.
According to reports, the woman was
found dead from head injuries on an I-35 off
ramp in Logan County on December 14.
On December 17, officers received an
anonymous tip that led them to Robbins’ Edmond home in the 600 block of Vista Lane,
where officers found his damaged truck. The
truck was missing front end grill pieces that
matched parts found at the scene of the
crime.
Robbins at first told police that he had hit a
deer a few weeks prior. He later admitted to
an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent that he was responsible for
the woman’s death.
Reports state that the man tearfully said, “I did it. I hit her. I am sorry. She
was wearing all black. I could not see her.”
When asked why he fled the scene, he said his passenger had a warrant for
his arrest and told him to leave.
Robbins said he just “freaked out.”
The passenger – who was in custody on an unrelated warrant arrest – told
officers he was with Robbins at the time of the accident. His estimated speed
was about 40 mph when he hit the victim.
Robbins had just been released from the Logan County Jail a few hours
before for pleading guilty to charges of public intoxication and obstructing an
officer.
Robbins is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in
death. His bond was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court
on January 25, 2018.

Mohammad Ashan, believed to be a low-level member of the Taliban, turned himself
in in order to collect the reward for his own capture. The reward was apparently about
$100.
Michael Fuller went to Walmart and tried to buy a vacuum, a microwave and a few
other items. The cashier knew that Fuller was up to no good when he attempted to
pay for his purchases with a $1 million bill.
Lukasz Chojnowski reportedly broke into an elderly couple’s home while they were
away on vacation. When the couple returned home, they found Lukasz sleeping in
their bed, earning him the nickname “Goldilocks” in the press. Reportedly, Lukasz did
such a good job of tidying up the house and reorganizing it that the couple offered to
hire him as their butler.
Logan James decided to play a game of cat and mouse with the local police department, posting “catch me if you can” on the department’s Facebook page. Well,
shortly after James posted his poorly thought out comment, the police did just that;
they caught him and booked him.
Klaus Schmidt tried to rob a bank. Unfortunately, Klaus is deaf and couldn’t hear the
alarm blaring as he attempted to clean out the place. He didn’t hear the police coming,
and the whole thing was an epic fail.
John Pearce was attempting to burglarize a home when he got his foot caught
in a bay window. He was left dangling there for about 30 minutes before police and
paramedics arrived.
Tiffany Campbell and John Arwood were apparently on a lot of meth when they
wound up hiding in a janitor’s college at Daytona State College in Florida. Apparently,
Campbell and Arwood thought they were locked in the closet, so they stayed there for
two days before finally calling the police. As it turns out, the closet was unlocked the
entire time. Apparently, meth makes things very confusing.
Joey Miller and Matthew McNeilly reportedly broke into several apartments while in
deep disguise. Evidently, when the police pulled them over, they still had their permanent-marker disguises scribbled on their faces.
Gary Rough held up a bookmaker’s in Scotland with what the clerk believed to be a
firearm. As it turns out, it was a cucumber with a sock on it. Rough earned a 40-month
sentence for his produce-related crime.
A lady in Costa Rica attempted to steal a flat screen TV by putting it up her dress,
between her legs. Apparently, store employees noticed that something about the
woman looked off.
Dorian Walker-Gaines and Dillan Thompson stole an iPad and some other belongings from a man’s truck in Houston. The two then posted some celebratory selfies,
which made it easy for police to apprehend them, thanks to the owner’s iCloud.
Darren Kimpton reportedly attempted to rob a house that was full of police. He had
reportedly just robbed the home, and investigators were still at the premises when
Kimpton decided to strike again.
Andrew Hennells posted on Facebook that he was planning to rob a Tesco store.
A few minutes later, he did exactly that. He certainly made things easier for the police.
STUPID CRIMINALS
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless
