CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC
Two Stillwater men are being charged with trafficking heroin after officers found drugs, some paraphernalia, and a gun in the men’s vehicle on July 28.
According to reports, a Stillwater Police detective
stopped the vehicle on I-35 and Mulhall Road. The
officer saw one of the men, 24-year-old Eric Dean
Hambrick, throw something out of the window. The
item thrown was a key fob containing a digital scale
with drug residue.
The other man in the vehicle was identified as
33-year-old Cody Brent Morrow.
Reports state Hambrick handed over approximately 14 grams of heroin and 11.9 grams of meth
that he was keeping on his person. The officer also
saw a Taurus 380 handgun and a syringe in plain
sight at the passenger door.
Morrow told the police that they went to Oklahoma
City to buy the drugs. Morrow said he was supposed
to get six grams of heroin when they made it back
to Stillwater.
At the time of the arrest, Morrow was already free
on a $25,000 bail. Stemming from an incident on
May 20, charges for this bail are possessing heroin
with intent to distribute and driving on a suspended
license.
Morrow is being charged with trafficking illegal
drugs, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful
possession of a controlled drug, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia,
and operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license has been suspended. His
bond was set at $40,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 14, 2021.
Hambrick is being charged with trafficking illegal drugs, possession of a
firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a controlled
drug, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at
$40,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 13, 2021.

CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE
A 34-year-old Tulsa man allegedly fired a
gun at a man during an argument on August
12, and even though he missed his target,
he did hit a woman’s home and the victim’s
vehicle in the process.
According to the affidavit, a Creek County
deputy was dispatched to the 6200 block
of South 46th West Avenue to investigate a
shots fired call. When the deputy arrived at
the location, he met with a woman who said
the suspect, Matthew David Duplesis, had hit
her home several times while firing at another
man. She told the deputy the man was at another residence.
The deputy located the man and placed
him in handcuffs.
Duplesis and another man had been in an argument. At some point, Duplesis fired a handgun at the man. Although he missed the man, he did hit the
woman’s home three times while she was on her front porch.
Duplesis was allegedly trying to shoot the man when he drove past him to
get away.
Duplesis hit the man’s vehicle twice – once in the passenger door and once
on the windshield. The victim fled the scene after that.
During the investigation, the deputy learned that Duplesis has multiple felony
convictions. He also admitted to owning the firearm he used in the shooting.
Duplesis is being charged with shooting with intent to kill, felony discharging firearm into a dwelling, possession of a firearm after former conviction of
a felony, and reckless conduct with a firearm. His bond was set at $30,000.

FORMER POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED FOR SEXUALLY
ABUSING A YOUNG CHILD
A Sapulpa man was sentenced August 26 for sexually abusing a young child, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced
Bradley Don Goodin, 47, to 15 years in federal prison
followed by 20 years of supervised release.
During the hearing, the young victim spoke before the Court as well as another child who was also
abused by Goodin. Judge Frizzell noted how compelling the statements were and stressed that these
types of crimes have a significant impact on both children and their families.
Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson said, “Goodin betrayed two young victims and took advantage of the role he played in their lives. The victims in this
case bravely spoke about the impact of Goodin’s crimes. I am proud of them
for coming forward to face this child predator.”
On April 27, 2021, Goodin pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact with a
child under 12 in Indian Country.
In a child forensic interview, the girl described two incidents when Goodin
sexually abused her on Oct. 5, 2019. The girl was afraid to tell her mother
what was happening at the time because she feared Goodin would harm
them. She later disclosed the abuse to her mother. At the time of the incidents, Goodin was an officer with Bristow Police Department. He has not
been employed with the department since November 2019.
In a February 2021 superseding indictment, Goodin was charged with sexually abusing a total of three minors. He was also charged with being a felon
in possession of 21 firearms. Goodin opted to plead guilty the day his trial
was to begin.
The Sapulpa Police Department, Creek County Sheriff’s Office and FBI
conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey A. Gallant and
Matilda Villalobos are prosecuting the case. Ms. Villalobos is a prosecutor
from the District of New Mexico. She volunteered to assist prosecution efforts here in the Northern District of Oklahoma due to increased jurisdictional
responsibilities regarding crimes involving Native American victims or defendants and that occur within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Cherokee Nation Reservations.

OSBI SEEKS INFORMATION IN 1974 COLD
CASE; OFFERS REWARD
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation
(OSBI) is offering a $10,000 reward for information
that can assist agents in the 1974 murder of Tina
Mae Duffell. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office
requested OSBI assistance after Duffell (37) was
found on October 18, 1974. She was submerged
by timber and brush in Prairie Dog Pond a half mile
northwest of Quapaw, Okla. Investigators believe
Duffell was either abducted or left with someone
from the C and D grocery store in Quapaw where
she was working at the time of her murder. The
autopsy revealed she had stab wounds to her neck.
If you know anything about Tina Mae Duffell’s murder, please contact the
OSBI at (800) 522-8017 or [email protected]. You can remain anonymous.

GUTHRIE, OK
TEEN BEAT
Guthrie man Payton Bailey Heird, 22, was
arrested on August 23 after someone filmed
him screaming racial slurs at an 18-year-old
girl and threatening to kill her.
Reports state the man was already out of
jail on bond from an incident that happened
in 2017. He was charged with two counts of
first-degree rape and two counts of sexual
abuse of a minor.
According to reports, Guthrie police officers
were dispatched to Bakers Bridge at approximately 1 a.m. on August 22. The area is a
popular spot for teens to hang out west of
town.
The victim said she was chilling with a
group of friends with Heird just started yelling
at her saying, “You need to leave.” The victim
said she started recording the altercation on her cell phone, and things just
got worse. He also screamed racial slurs at her, calling her the N-word and
spitting in her face. He also threw rocks at her.
The teen said she called 911 and told a dispatcher, “This guy is being, like,
really racist and he threw a rock at me, so I need help.”
The victim said she wasn’t seriously injured by the rock, but she got scared
when Heird ran to a truck to get a gun.
The teen explained that she ran away because she felt helpless.
Heird left the scene in a truck that his friend was driving, but officers caught
up with him just a few moments later. Officers found a loaded firearm in the
vehicle.
Heird is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon,
threaten an act of violence, carrying a firearm while under the influence of an
unlawful and unprescribed drug, malicious harassment/hate crime, and public intoxication. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on September 23, 2021.
