A simple seatbelt traffic stop Oct. 21 resulted in
a would-be Stillwater drug dealer having his 27th
birthday party in county lockup.
Around 1:35 p.m. that day, Oklahoma Highway
Patrol trooper Robert Burrows was patrolling 12th
Street in Stillwater when he saw a 1999 white Mercury drive by with neither occupant wearing seatbelts. He initiated a traffic stop and confronted
birthday boy Chavas Burton, 27, and his passenger
Michael Jack, 20.
Burrows reported smelling marijuana inside the
car, so he asked some more questions and had Burton sit in the patrol car while he checked his information. During the check, Barton was nervous and
jittery, which could have been because Burrows
discovered he had a revoked license. Also, Burton
couldn’t explain who the car belonged to, since it
was registered in someone else’s name. Burton
and Jack were cited for failing to wear seatbelts,
with an additional citation for Burton for driving
with a revoked license.
However, Burrows wasn’t done yet. He asked Burton if he could
search the car, and Burton said, “Yeah, I don’t know what’s in it.” Immediately after Burrows opened the driver’s side front door, he saw a
Smith and Wesson semiautomatic pistol in between the front seats.
Burrows then called for assistance and arrested both men on the
weapons complaint.
A later K-9 search of the vehicle helped police find a tin with multiple prepackaged bags of marijuana, as well as a bag under the driver’s
seat with several smaller bags containing meth. There were also three
cell phones and a GPS, as well as two sets of electronic scales and a
notebook with a ledger of drug sales.
Burton and Jack face charges of possession with intent to distribute
and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Burton has four
drug-related distribution convictions on his record, which dealt with
marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine.
Jack was released from jail Oct. 24 with court set for 1:30 p.m. Nov.
15. Burton remains in custody and is due back in court at 9 a.m. Nov. 4.
Unhappy birthday

A woman in Florida got so excited after stealing
a family’s Apple technology that she decided to take
some selfi es of her own. She had stolen an iPad
and an iPod Touch out of their car while they were
visiting one of Florida’s regional parks. Apparently
not realizing that photos taken on an Apple device
will show up on the computer, her selfi es surfaced
on the family’s iCloud account two weeks later. All of
these pictures are able to be located geographically.
A middle-aged man was stopped by police as he
rode his horse down the streets of Colorado. Why?
He was seen hitting the horse, but told the police
there was a fl y on his head. Further investigation
revealed that he had a small gun, a pug (yes, you
understood correctly), and beer cans in tow. Not
surprisingly, he failed an intoxication test and was
charged with animal cruelty, possession of weapons,
and drunk riding.
Have you ever accidentally gotten high? Like,
you thought it was a normal brownie, or normal
mushrooms. But nope, turns out you’re absolutely
tripping. Good luck explaining that one to the
police. The only thing less convincing than that is…
”accidentally” growing marijuana on your property.
This is exactly what happened to a 73 year old man,
who claims he found the seeds in a random box and
decided to plant them. Lo and behold, up grows
some weed. The man showed no sign of being a
pot smoker, yet paid the $200 dollar ticket without
argument anyway. Hopefully he’ll stay away from
mystery seeds from now on.
How impatient do you get when waiting for your
food to microwave? Worse yet is when you fi nally
think it’s done, but the plate is a burning fi re disc
from the sun’s core and your food could have been
found in the fur of a frozen wooly mammoth from
the arctic. How mad would you get? Hopefully not
angry enough to use the microwave as a weapon, like
a guy in St. Louis. A 43 year old man and a 36 year
old man got into a heated argument over “personal
matters”, resulting in a knife being pulled and a
microwave oven being thrown. Both were admitted
to the hospital with serious forehead wounds. I
don’t remember these being part of the Easy Mac
directions???
We’ve all seen those movies about crazy people
who believe demons live in their house, right?
Terrifying stuff , but the demons are probably more
scared of you than you are of them. Just…grab a
big shoe. And kill all the fl ies so they have nothing
to eat. Oh. Maybe I’m thinking of something else,
something scarier. One guy in Arizona was so
freaked out he almost burnt down the house. With
his roommates still home, he started a fi re in his
bedroom closet where he believed they were hiding.
He used paint thinner, and is reported to have been
reciting Bible verses. He said he had planned to tell
the police but forgot, and he was admitted to the
hospital with burns on his feet. The important thing
is, the house is now 100% demon free.

A Cushing teenager’s attempt to lead his
younger friend down the wrong path landed both of them an arrest on felony burglary complaints Oct. 11.
At 1:35 p.m. that day, Cushing police investigator Adam Harp reported two officers were sent to a local home after a caller
said he had two men at gunpoint. The caller knew one of the men, and both of them
were trying to hide weapons they brought
with them, he said. The older suspect, London Honeybuss, 19, was unfamiliar to the
caller.
When officers arrived, the caller said he saw two men, one
being a juvenile, walk out of a home nearby in the direction of
his neighbor’s residence. The pair was staring at the neighbor’s
house, so the caller decided to keep an eye on them. Eventually,
they disappeared by the doorway and eventually left the home
via the front door, trying to stuff pistols down the front of their
pants.
Knowing the neighbor wasn’t home, the caller got his own
weapon and confronted the would-be burglars, telling them to
drop the guns. They didn’t listen, however, and ran away. He
identified the juvenile to police, saying he was wearing baggy
shorts but no shirt and that he had “scruffy” facial hair.
Ten minutes later, the juvenile walked up to the residence and
soon after admitted his part in the burglary. When asked who
else was involved, the juvenile said, “It was a gang thing.” He did
provide officers with Honeybuss’ identity, however.
Police went to Honeybuss’ residence to ask him about the situation, and Honeybuss said he didn’t have any guns on him, as he
left them at the home when the caller confronted him. In an interview, Honeybuss said he burglarized the home because “there
were a s---load of guns” in the house. The homeowner of the
burglarized house lets his brother stay there sometimes, which
made it easy to break into, Honeybuss said.
Honeybuss and the juvenile face one charge of second-degree
burglary each. Honeybuss posted a $5,000 bond soon after his
arrest and has court set for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 14.
Is that a gun or are you
just happy to see me?

Like true historic
adventure accounts?
The Bible has them.
Korah learned that
God’s power is greater
than his.
Korah complained
against Moses, but
God chose Moses to
lead Israel. Moses
tells him, “Therefore
you and all your
company are gathered
together against the
Lord” (read Numbers
16:16 in your Bible).
God takes it personally when we don’t honor His servants.
Moses was chosen to lead Israel, but the people grumbled.
They didn’t get what they wanted. We are no different than
Korah and his friends.
We don’t take responsibility to change ourselves, we keep
doing the same things, and when we’re caught or suffer, we
complain and blame others.
What happened to Korah? Read it for yourself in your
own Bible, Numbers 16:28-38. Imagine the horror of this
tragic event! Can history repeat itself? Yes!
Bible Says:
History Repeats Itself

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a substitute
teacher after students reported she was intoxicated and passed
out in a classroom office at Millwood High School.
April Chamberlain, 30, was supposed to be acting as a
substitute in a biology class. Students said she appeared
disoriented and used profanity. When students found
Chamberlain asleep in the office, they contacted a coach, who
informed the principal.
The principal said after she repeatedly shouted and tapped
Chamberlain on the shoulder, the substitute woke up. The principal said
Chamberlain had blood-shot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol.
When a deputy arrived, she saw an open bottle of Canadian Whisky in
Chamberlain’s purse. The deputy also noted Chamberlain kept slurring and was
unsteady on her feet.
Chamberlain was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail for public
drunkenness.

On Friday, October 18, an Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against
Children Task Force member from the Edmond Police Department arrested Stephen DeWayne Huckeba, 52, at his residence.
The case was initiated by an Edmond detective into the distribution of child pornography on the Internet. Huckeba distributed
more than a dozen child pornography videos to the detective.
Task force members from the Edmond Police Department,
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Oklahoma Attorney
General’s Office, with the assistance of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at Huckeba’s residence, 200
East Rock Circle Drive in southern Logan County.
During the search of the residence, several computer-related items were located and
seized. Huckeba admitted to the Edmond detective that he distributed and possessed
child pornography images and videos.
The computer items will be taken to the Edmond police computer laboratory for
forensic examination. The case is still under investigation to determine if any local
children are in any of the images.
Huckeba was booked into the Logan County Jail and is charged with one count of
distribution of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, and
violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.

Oklahoma couple Elizabeth Pester, 33, and Mark Knapp,
48, have been jailed after they nearly starved their 3-year-old
daughter to death while they allegedly immersed themselves in
an online video game.
Second Life, an online 3d world where players can create an
entirely new virtual identity and then interact with other players
using that identity, became more than a game to Elizabeth
Pester and Mark Knapp.
It almost became a death sentence for the couple’s 3-year-old
daughter, who withered away while her parents spent the bulk
of their time on a computer, pretending to be a married couple in their new virtual world.
According to police, the problem began almost immediately after the child’s birth.
Investigators say DHS agents took the couple’s newborn into protective custody just a couple of
weeks after her birth. Case workers noted that Pester and Knapp had refused to spend much time with
the newborn, and the child was having feeding issues as a result.
In 2011, the child was returned to her parents in healthy condition, however it didn’t take long before
the feeding issue returned, and in a far more severe way.
In June, 2012, the little girl was taken to a local hospital where she weighed just 13 pounds and
appeared seriously malnourished. DHS responded by referring the child’s parents to a therapist who
would weigh the child on a weekly basis. That therapist saw the child just four times and weighed the
child twice over a five month period, according to court documents.
Pester and Knapp have been booked into the Tulsa County jail and charged with child abuse and
neglect. Bond has been set at $50,000 each.

As a Langston University student learned
Oct. 20, saying “f--- the police” is no way
to avoid a confrontation with local law enforcement about a fight.
Just after midnight that day, officer Louis
Ross went to the Commons Apartments following a report from the Langston University Police Department, which said there was
a fight between two of the buildings. Ross
arrived to see the area clear, but a patrol of
the nearby Scholars Apartments revealed
Autumn Armstrong, 21, was yelling profanities at three other girls
and looked like she had just been in a fight.
When Ross approached Armstrong, her friends kept trying to take
her out of public view. They said she was upset with her boyfriend
but that they had the issue under control. Ross said they no longer
were in control of the situation, so he tried to interview Armstrong.
However, she kept ignoring his questions.
Ross then said she needed to leave the area or else she would be
arrested for disorderly conduct, but Armstrong wasn’t having that.
She walked away, but not before saying “f--- the police.”
Ross went back to the Commons Apartments to interview the victims, and he saw two men walking up the stairs to their room. One of
the men said Armstrong started arguing with him at the Commons
Apartments, which continued to the Scholars Apartments. He was
on his way back to the Scholars Apartments to get his stuff, but Ross
said he should send a friend instead because Armstrong was still
highly upset. During that interview, Armstrong got out of her apartment to try to put a shoe inside the man’s car. She got upset upon
realizing it was locked, so she yelled multiple verbal insults at him.
Ross again told her to go back to her apartment, but once more
Armstrong said “f--- the police” and tried to go around the officer to
get to the man. He took her by the arm to get her to comply, but she
snatched away and punched him in the side of the head, prompting him to put her in handcuffs. Armstrong’s friends pleaded multiple times with Ross for her release from custody, saying “she didn’t
know what she was doing.”
In a written statement, Armstrong said she “blacked out on the
police” when he tried to get her to calm down and that she “swung
on the police.”
Armstrong faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer
and obstruction. She posted a $5,000 bond Oct. 22 and will be in
court at 9 a.m. Dec. 19.

Rogelio Andaverde, a 34-year-old Texas man, was jailed Oct 10
after he allegedly faked his own kidnapping in an effort to dump
his wife for a night of partying.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Andaverde
and his wife were home at around 10:30 p.m. that night when two
masked men broke into their home and kidnapped Andaverde at
gunpoint.
Investigators say the Sheriff’s Office launched a manhunt, but
called it off a few hours later when no leads developed on the case.
Andaverde arrived back home that morning, explaining to his
wife that his captors “just let him go.”
When officers arrived on the scene to interview Andaverde,
something about his explanation didn’t sound right to them.
Andaverde was taken into custody and interviewed again at the Sheriff’s Office.
He reportedly admitted to investigators that he fabricated the kidnapping because he
wanted to go out drinking with his friends.
“I don’t think his wife appreciated being kept until 4 or 5 in the morning, being interviewed
by the cops while her husband was out doing who knows what with who knows who,” said
Hidalgo County Sheriff, Guadalupe Trevino. “He’s going to have a lot of answering to do.”
Andaverde was booked into jail and charged with making a false report to police. He was
released after posting $5,000 bail.

A motorist from Kendrick was locked
up after police found illegal items in his
pockets.
On Oct. 17, a Stroud police officer was
on patrol when he saw a vehicle fail to
signal while turning. The officer followed the truck and noticed that the
vehicle appeared to be swerving left of
center, according to the affidavit. The
truck then came to a complete stop in
the roadway for approximately 10 seconds before turning left and partially driving in a yard.
The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the
driver, Bryan Edward Walker, 53.
The officer told Walker why he pulled him over and asked
him if there was any reason he had been driving so recklessly.
Walker said no.
The officer then asked Walker if there was anything illegal
in his vehicle. Walker said no and told the officer that he could
search the truck if he wanted to.
Another officer arrived to assist and conducted a terry pat on
Walker for safety reasons. The officer found a pocketknife in
Walker’s front pocket. He asked Walker if there was anything
else in his pockets that would cut, poke or stick the officer.
Walker informed the officer that he had a hypodermic needle
and a pipe in his coat pocket.
The officer retrieved the items and saw that the syringe had
a clear liquid substance inside of it and there was a powdery
residue on the pipe.
One of the officers referred to the pipe as a “crack pipe,” but
Walkers so eloquently corrected the officer and said, “It’s not a
crack pipe, it’s a crank pipe.”
An officer asked Walker when he last used crank, and Walker
told him earlier that day.
The officer placed Walker under arrest and asked him if he
had anything else illegal on him. Walker told the officer he had
something in his front pocket and the officer retrieved a small
plastic baggy with a substance that later field-tested positive
for methamphetamine.
Walker agreed to take the state’s test, but cautioned the officer that the test “would be dirty.”
Walker is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while
under the influence of drugs and unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia. His bond was set at $7,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30, 2013.

An apologetic young Stroud man found himself in some serious trouble after he led police on a highspeed chase.
The chase was the least of his worries, however.
On Oct. 12, a Stroud police officer was on patrol when he saw a blue car driving down the road that
had a taillight out.
According to the affidavit, the officer pulled behind the car and activated his emergency lights. The
driver of the vehicle accelerated and initiated a high speed chase, running stop signs and leading the
officer down multiple streets in Stroud.
The chase finally came to an end when the driver hit a ditch, and the vehicle went airborne before
running into a fence.
Police approached the vehicle, but the driver was nowhere to be found. There were several unopened
bottles of beer in the vehicle and a cell phone in the driver’s seat that named “Dewight” as the owner in the phone’s settings.
Not long after the subject’s joy ride, he was apprehended by police. The subject,
Dewight Hakeem Brown, 18, told police, “I’m sorry I put you guys in risk in that high speed pursuit.”
Brown agreed to speak to police once they were at the jail.
He told an officer that he had drank a fifth of liquor before meeting up with a girl. He said he asked to borrow her car to
see his grandmother but took the car to see his friends and was gone for an unknown amount of time.
Apparently, the girl he borrowed the car from was none too pleased and called and texted Brown multiple times inquiring
about the car.
During the booking process, an officer found a plastic baggy in Brown’s property that contained a green leafy substance
that field-tested positive for marijuana.
Brown is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, endangering lives of others while attempting to elude
a police officer, leaving scene of accident involving damage, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of
beer by person under the age of 21 and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 24, 2014.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
This month’s Tips is less of a tip
than it is a serious request for help
from you, the motoring public. I would like to make a personal
appeal to each and every reader who sees this to help us Troopers
try to eliminate one of the toughest jobs that we ever have to do. It
is something that everyone who drives can have an impact on.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is tasked with the investigation
of motor vehicle accidents on the public roadways outside the city
limits in the State of Oklahoma. In the course of this, we investigate
a huge number of fatalities. For each fatality victim, it is the duty
of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to personally notify the next of
kin. For each life lost, there is a knock on a door somewhere, where
an OHP Trooper has to deliver news that will forever change the
lives of the person or persons on the other side. Sadly, these knocks
on the door could have been prevented by somebody involved in
the accident. Sometimes it’s the person who died whose unsafe or
unlawful action caused the accident that took their life. Often times
it is not.
Each and every Trooper you see working the roads every day has
had to knock on that door. I think if you asked, every single one
would tell you this is the worst aspect of our job. Trying to prevent
this is one of the reasons we do what we do. We know if we work
hard, we can stop some of these knocks. We also know the motoring
public can help us stop some of these knocks as well. The following
are just a few ways for you to do your part to help.
First and foremost, obey the law. It really doesn’t matter if
your personal opinion of the rules of the road don’t make sense,
or shouldn’t apply in certain situations. Each one of them is
designed for us to travel safely on the road. Slow down, and give
your full, undivided attention to the road. Watch out for the other
driver. When you see something happening ahead of you, slow
down! “I was late”, or “I was texting” just doesn’t cut it as responses
to a grieving family when they ask why this happened. Is it
something you could live with if it was your reason for taking a life?
The people on the other side of that knock aren’t the only ones
affected by the experience. We Troopers have all held strangers as
the initial horror and shock of the news takes hold of them. We
have all prayed with families we just met, and asked if we could have
done more to prevent it. Each and every day we are trying to stop
The Knock. Now I’m asking you to help us. Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!
