An altercation over Facebook resulted in a Stillwater man receiving
first-degree burglary charges Sept. 14.
Stillwater police officer Greg Miller
began investigating a case in late August, where an 18-year-old woman
learned another woman was harassing her juvenile sister on Facebook.
The women had an argument over
the issue but nothing turned physical
until Sept. 2.
The woman began receiving more
threats on Facebook, including one
saying some friends would help “settle the issue” between the pair. That night, the woman and three
friends reported six black males breaking into their house, attacking them and breaking things in the house, according to the affidavit.
One of the black males threatened to punch the woman, but one of
her friends was punched in the face and head several times, Miller
said. After the woman reported the incident to police, she noticed
Labarion Sparrow, 19, was Facebook friends with her harasser and
recognized him as the first of her intruders.
Sparrow was arrested Sept. 17 on a $20,000 bond. He has two
pending misdemeanor charges for writing a bogus check and possession of marijuana, respectively. In the first case, he is accused of
writing hot checks to buy groceries and sporting goods. In the marijuana case, officers alleged he had a bottle of brandy and a marijuana cigar in his car, which was pulled over for having an expired
tag. He was arrested June 25 on warrants after failing to appear in
court for the charges.
Sparrow will next appear in court at 1:45 p.m. Oct. 10.

A Stillwater woman faces felony assault
charges following a hit and run injury accident
Sept. 22.
Just before 3 a.m. that day, Stillwater police
officer Bryan Luginbill received a report about
an accident where the suspect, Jacqueline Tresae Woods, 25, left in a black Honda after hitting two people.
Luginbill arrived at the scene and found three
injured people at the 300 block of South Jardot
Road. Two of the three had large visible cuts on their legs and the
third could not move because his legs had been run over. There was
also damage to the passenger’s side of a gray Dodge Charger parked
in the driveway, according to the affidavit. All were taken to the Stillwater Medical Center emergency room via ambulance, Luginbill
said.
A girlfriend of one of the victims said the group was out at J.R.
Murphy’s bar, where they saw Woods, who she called “Tresae Johnson”. Nothing happened at the bar, she said. However, once the
group returned home, Woods argued with one of the victims and
eventually started swinging at the girlfriend, she said.
The girlfriend said they were standing next to the Charger when
Woods got into her car and backed up into the street, thinking
she was going home for the night. That wasn’t the case, though, as
Woods drove quickly at them and ran into the side of the car, hitting
the three victims, she said.
While at the emergency room, Woods called one of the victims at
the emergency room and said she fled to Guthrie because “she had
been jumped.” Police told her to come back to Stillwater, and she
was arrested at the 4000 block of W. 19th Street. At the time of her
arrest, she said everyone jumped her and she was “just trying to get
away”. She claimed she did not know she hit anyone and did not realize her car was damaged, according to the affidavit.
Woods was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly
weapon. She was released Oct. 1 on bond and will appear in court
Nov. 2 at 1:45 p.m.

“Pep, The Cat-Murdering Dog” was a black
Labrador Retriever admitted to Eastern
State Penitentiary on August 12, 1924. Prison
folklore tells us that Pennsylvania Governor
Gifford Pinchot used his executive powers
to sentence Pep to Life Without Parole for
killing his wife’s cherished cat. Prison records
support this story: Pep’s inmate number (C2559) is skipped in prison intake logs and
inmate records.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Guy E: You gave permission to give swats. What
did you think they were gonna do give him a little tap?
Lavender B: I say let the parents paddle that
administrator!
Shawn H: Boy is 13, why would parents allow
the school to punish? If they did and it was not excessive, it is on them for handing the responsibility of
raising their children off to someone else.
Rosemary L: I thought government schools
couldn’t spank anymore. When I was in 7th grade
they couldn’t. (I’m 31 now)
Kim P: I swear, this is what’s wrong with kids
nowadays. They are such pansies, along with their
parents. When we got “swats” or punished by our
parents we did not want to call DHS, or go to the ER.....
geez suck it up parents!! YOU GAVE PERMISSION!!
Kimberly D: If this happened at home that
mother would be facing charges, the school has
no right to put bruises on any child. What makes a
school better than a parent?
Mark C: Oh that poor poor kid, how terrible that
he got a spanking for committing an act of violence
against another kid... Boo (beep) hoo, and people
wonder why kids are so spoiled and think they can do
whatever they want these days... I can’t believe this is
all over the news...
Rick S: Seriously. It’s a punishment. It’s not
supposed to feel good. What’s wrong with people.
Jailbird magazine may not be so full if more kids had
their backsides paddled. I got them every day just
like a one a day vitamin! Probably kept me out of jail.
Get swats at school and get them for getting them at
school when you get home. Parents loving their kids
straight to jail !
Chelsea D: Just because u gave them permission
doesn’t mean they can leave bruises like that! That
was uncalled for! No child should have to be taken to
the er from swats
Brittany P: i thought society today look at
spanking as child abuse? But their doing it in school?
Im all for a butt whoopin if my children are not
acting right, these days if you spank your child in
public its abuse and will scar the child for life with
embarrassment and could get dhs involved, beating
and disciplining the child is two diff things! I know
my children will not grow up acting like fools,
that’s what’s wrong with this world kids get away
with anything, have no boundaries or rules plus no
guidance, i for one will not let the school do my job in
disciplining my child, they can get suspended and get
their punishment when they get home, whether it is a
spanking, grounding or sentence writing.
Tina: I chose my kids not to be spanked and here is
why...... The DHS steps in if they hear we are spanking
our kids, so why should the school be able to? As for
this case, Had that been the parents who spanked
that kid and left a bruise and someone at school
seen it, you bet your bottom that the DHS would be
involved and the parents investigated so it is not “ O,
they chose for their kid to be spanked so it is what
it is” Those parents and that kid trusted that person
enough to believe he would be spanked the right way,
and that does not include bruises folks.
Christina A: some of you people are completely
ignorant. giving verbal permission to “swat” your kid
is a big difference between hitting them hard enough
to leave marks and bruises. he was being punished for
violence but lets turn around and punish with more
violence?
Joseph B: Detention never helped me, but a
spanking set my a** straight
Jeffrey L: Wow. How times have changed. I got
my butt busted plenty. Always got butt busted when i
got home after getting busted at school. I turned out
great. Definitely knew right from wrong. I had bruises
on top of bruises n never cried like a lil b**ch. Suck it
up n get tough. This is what i call the wimpification of
America. I, in NO way condone child abuse. However,
there has to be punishment of some sort. Oh and not
everyone gets a blue ribbon. Somebody’s got to lose to
teach n learn a lesson. Life will go on.
April H: To all the parents out there that do not
believe in spanking, you need to bend over and
grab the chair yourselves. You are the reason this
generation is so delinquent and misbehaved. If your
mother was like mine, I got my a** beat, I spanked
all 4 of my kids and if I do say so, they are very well
behaved and good honorable young adults!!
Be happy someone is trying to mold your kids into
people you obviously are not!!!!!
Richard W: the parent gave permission to
discipline the child, not to abuse the child!
Cordell Police said they are looking into a
school punishment that left a mark.
The mother of an Oklahoma elementary
student said her son was left bruised in a
recent paddling last week.
Linda Drew said her 6th grade son was caught
fighting at Cordell Elementary.
She and her husband were given the option of
suspension or swats.
They gave the school permission to spank
their child because they thought suspension
or detention would have hurt his grades and
football practice.
Hours later, their son was being checked out in the emergency room with
severe bruising.

The Bryan County DA’s Office is actively seeking the arrest of Jessica Beth Taylor, AKA Jessica Beth Decastro. She
is a white female, 34 years old, 5 feet tall, weighing 125 lbs.
Taylor is wanted in Bryan County for Forgery, after former conviction of felony, and in Garfield County for Forgery and false declaration of ownership in Pawn.
Taylor’s current charges stem from an incident where
she attempted to pass a check stolen from a local church.
Both counties have entered Taylor/Decastro into NCIC.
Taylor is likely in the company of a 42 year-old 6 foot
white male with a prosthetic leg. He is not wanted at this
time.
Bryan County investigators have reason to believe that
the pair have fled into North Texas to evade arrest here in
Oklahoma. Both are known to frequent Casinos.
Neither Taylor nor her friend are known to have a vehicle
and are dependent on others for a ride from place to place.
Officers coming in contact with the pair should be alert for
narcotics violations, both have history of illegal drug sales and use.
If you have information on this person’s location please contact your local law enforcement
agency, or contact me, Investigator David Cathey, directly at 580-924-2987.

Attempted Burglary- 2nd

A night of fun for a pair of Guthrie men might lead to some prison
time.
Just before 1 a.m. Sept. 7, Guthrie police officer Jade Terbush was
dispatched to the 900 block of Shady Creek Circle on reports that
someone was knocking on windows and doors, eventually breaking
into a home through the door inside the garage.
Terbush arrived to see two males, Travis Stocking, 23, and Rene
Rosas, 22, walking from the front of the house. They were promptly
arrested at gunpoint and placed in investigative detention, Terbush
said.
Rosas said his girlfriend lived in the house and that he broke in
because she was inside with another man, according to the affidavit.
Officers questioned the homeowners, who said they knew Rosas from working together at
the Holiday Inn in Stillwater. The female homeowner said she and Rosas occasionally texted
but have never dated, adding she had never seen Stocking before the burglary.
The male homeowner said he confronted the pair in the hallway, where Rosas said the
woman had been “sucking on him” and that they have dated for two years.
Officers saw the wood around the door inside the garage was broken, with the lock busted
off the door frame. When Stocking and Rosas learned they would be arrested for burglary,
Stocking said, “No, no, it’s me, I’m the one that kicked open the door.” Rosas tried to shoulder the blame, saying it was his fault since he told Stocking to kick the door in.
Both were released on bond Sept. 7. They will appear in court at 2 p.m. Oct. 25.

Abuse can happen in many forms. Physical, emotional and
sexual are common expressions of abuse and many people
just don’t know how to handle it. If you are an
abuser, stop it. If you are the victim of abuse,
let the words of the Bible guide you as you
decide how to handle the relationship with the
abuser. If you’re in danger, you need to get
away immediately. If your abuse is not life
threatening or is something in your past
that you still struggle with, take some time
to meditate on God’s Word on this subject.
The LORD rescues the godly;
he is their fortress in times of trouble.
The LORD helps them,
rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him.

A Midwest City man was arrested in
Guthrie after deciding to do some five-finger discount shopping spree at Walmart
Sept. 10.
Just before 2 p.m. that day, Guthrie police officer David Lesher received a call
from Walmart about a larceny that just
occurred. The suspect, Kevin McMullin,
42, was identified as a white male wearing
a gray shirt and black hat.
When Lesher arrived, a witness approached him saying McMullin ran behind Taco Mayo to talk to someone in
a gray car. When McMullin saw the police vehicle he tried to walk
away and pretend nothing was going on, Lesher said.
McMullin told Lesher he just left Taco Mayo. At that time, another
witness waved down Lesher in the parking lot, saying he saw McMullin take off running from the Walmart after an employee asked
to see a receipt for the items in his cart. The witness said he followed
McMullin until the police arrived.
Lesher then asked McMullin what he as doing at Walmart. McMullin said he was shopping for a computer. He was arrested on
an outstanding Payne County warrant for obstructing an officer and
transported to Walmart for further questioning.
An asset protection employee identified McMullin as the thief and
said he gave her a receipt from another store with a different date
that did not show the purchase of a computer. The employee said
she noticed a large desktop computer, a rug and other items in the
cart he took, which had a value of $586.
McMullin was previously convicted of two felonies in LeFlore

charge.
McMullin remains in Logan County Jail. He will appear in court
at 2 p.m. Oct. 25.

Batman Busted
Michigan police busted Mark Wayne Williams, known as “The
Petoskey Batman,” after he showed up at a car accident Sept. 29
The 33-year-old wanted to help, but police said he only got in
their way.
“Troopers were securing a large area for the search of a subject
for leaving the scene of a personal injury crash when Williams
took it upon himself to search the area in his Batman persona,”
the state police said in a statement.
The Caped Crusader wanna-be insisted he could help police
find the driver involved in the wreck, who had wandered off.
“He wouldn’t clear the scene and we had a canine out there
and he kept screwing up the scent,” Sgt. Jeff Gorno.
Since Williams wouldn’t leave, officers arrested him. He was charged with obstructing police
in an investigation and resisting.
Authorities also confiscated his Batman attire. He is due back in court Oct. 18.
This isn’t the first time “The Petoskey Batman” has run afoul of the law.
Last year Williams was arrested while dangling from the side of a building. During that bust
he was found with “a baton type striking weapon, a can of chemical irritant spray, and a pair of
lead-lined gloves.”
He was later sentenced to six months probation, during which time he was forbidden to wear
his Batman costume.

A Prague man was taken into custody after police received a call he was bashing cars in with a
baseball bat.
A-Yo Henry, 22, was charged Sept. 21 with assault and battery upon a police officer, malicious
injury to property over $1000, and public intoxication in Lincoln County District Court.
Prague Police Officer Tony Walker said in a
probable cause affidavit he responded to a call
in the 1700 block of Sherry Lane in reference to
a disturbance. Upon arrival, he noticed a man, who he immediately
knew as A-Yo Henry. Henry was wielding a silver baseball bat and
striking the wall and a vehicle next to where he was standing.
Walker spoke to Henry from a distance, but could immediately tell
Henry was heavily intoxicated. Walker identified himself as a police officer and ordered Henry to drop the baseball bat. He looked at
Walker and said “f**k you.”
Walker was beginning to close the gap between them when Henry
came toward him with the bat. He pulled his baton and Henry stopped.
Walker then ordered Henry to drop the bat again and he complied.
Walker tried to talk with Henry to find out what was going on, but
Henry became combative and would not comply with verbal orders.
He finally got close enough to Henry to take hold of him, but he resisted and fought back.
“I started to wrestle with Henry,” Walker said, “and during the process, I was elbowed on my right side of my face and in my left rib
cage.”
In order to get Henry under control, Walker was forced to slam
Henry over the hood of a white car parked in the yard. He was then
able to take control of Henry and cuff him. As he was walking Henry
to the patrol car, Henry kept resisting and refused to walk, but he
eventually got Henry into the car.
Walker transported Henry to the Prague Police Department and
then on to Lincoln County Jail and booked in.
Henry significantly damaged two vehicles with the baseball bat, according to Walker’s affidavit.

LINA
YOLIANA
Two sisters were arrested Sept. 14 after an
OHP trooper found 80 pounds of marijuana in
their rented minivan.
Lina Ocampo-Martinez, 21, and Yoliana Ocampo-Martinez, 19, were both charged Sept.
19 with trafficking in illegal drugs.
According to the police affidavit filed by
OHP Trooper Ty Owen, he was working the
Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County when he
spotted a minivan with Indiana tags fail to signal a lane change. He activated his emergency
equipment and the van pulled over.
As soon as Owen approached the van, he
could smell the strong odor of raw marijuana
coming from inside.
Owen spoke to the driver, Yoliana, and informed her of why he stopped her. She seemed
extremely nervous and was shaking. He also
saw two small children in the vehicle and another adult female in the passenger seat. Yoliana admitted she did not have a driver’s license and the only reason she was driving was because her sister,
Lina, who was in the passenger seat, was tired.
Owens took Yoliana back to his patrol car and as he was writing
out a warning for the violation, she said she and her sister had gone
to Phoenix for a couple of days to just drive around. Owen noticed
the rental agreement on the van was for only three days, which didn’t
give them any time to visit. This sent up a red flag to the trooper.
Owen went back to the van to speak with Lina and once again he
could smell the reek of pot and she seemed very nervous. He asked
to search the van and she agreed.
During the search, he found six large bundles of marijuana- four
in the Stow and Go and two under luggage in the rear- that weighed
around 80 pounds.
Both sisters were placed under arrested and transported to the
Lincoln County Jail and DHS was contacted for the children.

death Row
Anthony Banks
A federal appeals court has rejected the
appeal of an Oklahoma death row inmate
convicted of fi rst-degree murder for the
slaying of a woman more than 30 years ago.
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
ruled in the case of Anthony Banks, who
was convicted of the June 6, 1979, killing of
24-year-old Sun Travis.
Travis was abducted and raped and her
partially clad body was found near a trash
heap. She had been shot in the head.
Banks was convicted largely on the basis of DNA evidence found on
Travis.
Banks is also serving a life sentence for the 1978 murder of a Tulsa
convenience store clerk. He wasn’t in custody when Travis was slain.

Domestic violence and
abuse can happen to
anyone, yet the problem
is often overlooked, excused, or denied. This is
especially true when the
abuse is psychological,
rather than physical. Noticing and acknowledging the signs of an abusive relationship is the
first step to ending it. No
one should live in fear of
the person they love. If
you recognize yourself
or someone you know in
the following warning signs and descriptions of abuse, reach out. There is help available.

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
One of the things that is becoming
more prevalent, and with the
passing of the new open carry law,
will only continue to rise, is the number of people walking and driving
around armed. For law enforcement, this obviously creates some
challenges in our dealings with the public. I am going to attempt to
explain what we would like from the citizens who choose to go armed,
and what they can expect from us.
First, all people who wish to carry a gun on their person are
required to attend an approved concealed carry class. This goes for
those who wish to carry concealed or open. Upon completion of the
course and the requirements needed, you will be issued a Concealed
Carry License, or CCL. Let me point out, that having a CCL is a
privilege, not a right. It is issued by the state, and with it come some
responsibilities.
One of those responsibilities, and the one that is most important
to us law enforcement professionals, is the obligation to notify us
IMMEDIATELY upon contact. Lets say you get stopped for speeding
and you are a CCL holder and are armed, whether it is on your person
or just in your vehicle. The Trooper gets out of their car and asks
you to step back to them with your driver’s license and proof of
insurance. You should, before anything else, declare that you have
a CCL and are armed. Don’t wait until we see the CCL in your wallet
to tell us....that’s too late! They will then instruct you on what they
would like you to do to address this situation. There are several
things we may do at this point to accomplish this.
We may ask you to say (not reach for or move towards) where
the weapon is. Simply say the location, keeping your hands on the
steering wheel or where they can be seen. If its on your person, we
may wish to disarm you for the duration of the traffic stop, and will
give instructions accordingly. We may simply separate the weapon
from the ammunition and make the weapon safe, and then leave it
in your vehicle. Each officer will handle this in the way that he or
she chooses in order to maintain their own safety. None of these
methods are meant to infer that we feel threatened by a CCL holder,
or that we think you are a criminal or bad person. They are simply
ways that we can deal with the issue of a gun being present in order
to maintain our safety and the safety of others.
Hopefully, this will give you some guidelines on what we are
expecting when you come in contact with us while carrying a
firearm. With respect and understanding, we can all feel safe with an
armed citizen, while respecting that citizen’s right to carry. Thanks
for reading, buckle up, and be safe!
