FROM THE SHERIFF'S
OFFICE
You might remember Jacob Brauning, he has
been popular on several of our [press release]
posts for not wanting to follow the law or appear
in court. Brauning was recently taken into custody
on warrants, again. One of those warrants out of
Pottawatomie County for him possessing a firearm, while being a convicted felon. Brauning was
found in an attic, again, but ultimately was taken
into custody.
Shai McGirt was also taken into custody for a
Pottawatomie County warrant for Felon in possession of firearm after former felony
Conviction.
Both suspects were transported to the Safety
Center on their warrants.
We would like to thank Pottawatomie County
Emergency management for their assistance with
their drones.
These arrests are not convictions, all parties are innocent until proven guilty.

Trailer got trashed
Video of a wild police car chase in Missouri involving a driver towing a house has gone viral.
The Excelsior Springs Police Department released the footage in November of Sgt. Kyle Craven in pursuit of an unknown
male motorist driving erratically on Thanksgiving night.
The motorist went 30 mph with the 70-foot long mobile home attached to his
truck that Craven said looked like ‘he was gonna live in it.’ Officers attempted to
deflate his tires by laying stop sticks on the road, but they were not fast enough,
and the driver kept on cruising down US Route 69.
The 35-mile car chase ended after the driver with his mobile home crashed
while attempting to make a sharp left turn at Cameron Road in Mosby. Craven
said he thought the driver was drunk since his driving was so erratic, with his
vehicle veering into the middle of the lanes.
When the driver attempted the left turn he hit a stop sign, giving police the
chance to apprehend him.
Multiple police officers arrested him right in front of the mobile home, and
seemingly had fun doing it - especially the officers who shared high fives after he
was taken away by other cops.
The driver now now faces multiple traffic violation charges, but officers have
not clarified what those charges are.
If he was driving intoxicated, as Craven and other police officers thought, he
could possibly face a DWI (driving while intoxicated) charge, which is a Class B
misdemeanor in Missouri.
However, it can also lead to a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

NOT COOL IN SCHOOL
On December 12, 2023 the Johnston County
Sheriff’s Office received multiple phone calls from
concerned employees of the Mannsville Public
School.
The callers reported Superintendent Brandi Price
was intoxicated while school was in session. The
Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded with
two deputies, and Sheriff Gary Dodd also requested the assistance of a drug recognition expert
(DRE) from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol nearby.
A series of impairment tests were performed and it was determined Price was
under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicants.
Deputies placed Superintendent Price under arrest and transported her from the
Mannsville School to the Johnston County Jail for Public Intoxication.
“The Citizens of Johnston County elected me, as their Sheriff and to protect
all citizens. This includes our children, to ensure they have a safe environment
at school, we can not and will not allow any individual to be intoxicated at our
schools, causing disruption. This is an unfortunate situation, however as I have
stated before, ensuring the safety of our children, faculty and schools is one of our
top priorities. We appreciate the assistance of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with
this investigation. We would also like to think the faculty of the Mannsville School
for reporting this.”

RECKLESS
ABANDONMENT
A 44-year-old Tecumseh man was arrested after the sounds of a couple fighting led police officers to an abandoned building on December 20.
According to the police report, Seminole police officers were dispatched to an abandoned
commercial building in the 300 block of E. Oak Street after someone reported
hearing a man and woman screaming in the building. When an officer arrived,
he noticed that several doors to the building had glass broken out of them, as
though someone had broken into the building.
Officers searched the building and they heard a man and woman screaming at
each other. They also heard a woman crying.
Officers found a door that was blocked to prevent anyone from entering. Some
officers worked on breaking down the door while others looked for an alternate
entry point.
An officer found a way upstairs and made contact with Zachary Allen Kessinger. The officer told the man to drop a gun and a knife. At some point, Kessinger
tried to take the officer’s rifle.
The two started to struggle, and the officer took Kessinger to the ground and
placed the man in handcuffs.
Officers couldn’t find the woman they heard crying.
Kessinger told officers that he knew the owner, but the owner hadn’t given
anyone permission to stay there.
Kessigner is being charged with battery/assault and battery on a police officer
and breaking and entering a dwelling without permission. His bond was set at
$10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 4, 2024.

A Holdenville resident has been sentenced for
a Federal firearms crime.
Kotah Ray Armstrong, 30, was sentenced to
twelve months in prison for one count of Felon
in Possession of a Firearm.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosives and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Office
of Probation and Parole.
On November 10, 2022, Armstrong pleaded guilty to one count of Felon in
Possession of a Firearm. On April 7, 2022, during a home visitation by Oklahoma DOC Probation and Parole officers, Armstrong was discovered to be
in possession of a 12-gauge pump action shotgun. Armstrong admitted to
possessing the shotgun despite knowing he was prohibited from possessing
firearms as a convicted felon.
Armstrong will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a
non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

How the Grinch stole Christmas
A Clay County, Fla., man is facing charges after
deputies say he fired a gun six times near the Middleburg Christmas Parade.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 4100
block of County Road 218, which is located along the parade route, after hearing several gunshots fired from the area.
When deputies arrived, they found several people yelling at the suspect, identified as Douglas Moore, 43, who was standing at the property line. The people
were demanding to know why Moore shot at them, an arrest report states.
No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire, according to deputies.
Moore was told to get on the ground but refused, the report states. Moore was
then taken down by deputies after refusing to comply.
Deputies detained four individuals involved. Moore was ultimately placed under arrest following witness interviews and a review of the evidence.
The investigation revealed that Moore, a resident of a nearby property near
the incident location, became agitated by the activities stemming from parade
attendees and discharged a pistol multiple times while entering the property
where the victims were located.
While he was being read his Miranda Rights, deputies observed Moore speaking with slurred speech and had bloodshot and watery eyes, according to the
report.
As a result of the investigation, Moore was charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and using a firearm
while under the influence of alcohol.
“I am thankful for the quick response by the deputies who ran towards the
sound of gunfire to keep our community safe,” Sheriff Michelle Cook said in the
post.

14 | JANUARY 2024 PONTOTOC COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
NO MERCY
An Ardmore man was sentenced to federal prison
after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman in Ada.
Jeremy Kurt Lewis, Jr., 26, was sentenced to concurrent terms of 108 months in prison for assault with
a dangerous weapon and 108 months in prison for
possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.
The charges arose from investigations by the
Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police, the Ada Police
Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
On October 12, 2022, Lewis pleaded guilty to the
charges.
According to investigators, on May 6, 2021, Lewis beat the victim with his hands
and a belt and obstructed the victim’s airway with a rag. While investigating the assault, officers found Lewis, a convicted felon, in possession of a firearm.
While in custody for the May 6th assault, Lewis assaulted a jail officer during a
failed escape attempt. Lewis subsequently pleaded guilty to one count of assault
with intent to commit a felony in that separate case and was sentenced to 63 months
imprisonment. The terms of imprisonment in the separate cases will be served consecutively.
The crimes occurred in Pontotoc County, within the boundaries of the Chickasaw
Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Lewis will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence
of incarceration. KACEY
