HOT PURSUIT
37-year-old Asher man, Jacob Wayne Brauning, was booked into the Pottawatomie County
Jail after he allegedly led deputies on a highspeed pursuit in early May.
According to reports, dashcam footage from
patrol vehicles caught the whole ordeal. The
footage showed Brauning leading the chase
through rural roads in Pottawatomie County. He
drove onto dirt roads in an attempt to lose the
deputies who were chasing after him.
Just 10 minutes into the pursuit, Brauning turned into a wooded property.
He crashed his red truck into a tree, knocking the tree over.
Brauning then jumped out of his truck and took off running. He didn’t get
far, however, before deputies caught up to him and placed him under arrest.
Bruaining is being charged with endangering others while eluding / attempting to elude a police officer. His bond was set at $7,500, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on June 25, 2024.

AROUND THE NATION
What a crappy thing to do!
A teenager was allegedly toppled over a porta potty at a New Hampshire park May 8 — covering the
mother and 4-year-old daughter inside with filth, according to police.
Aiden Studer, 18, is accused of pushing the john
from behind so that it landed on its door, trapping the
pair inside the disgusting box.
“The pair reported being covered in feces and
bodily fluids,” Manchester police said.
Witnesses told police that Studer had been arguing with the mother near the porta-potty at Derryfield Park until she went inside to assist her daughter. That’s when the
vengeful teen allegedly struck. They weren’t inside for long, however — bystanders
rushed to free the mother-daughter pair.
Studer allegedly ended his tirade by throwing an unknown object at officers who
arrived on the scene. It does not appear as though the teenager knew the mother
before striking.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal restraint and criminal
mischief, as well as simple assault on a police officer.

A PEACEFUL
RESOLUTION
In the early hours of Sunday, May 12, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office received a report of
a potential hostage situation west of the Town of
Mannsville. Swiftly responding to the scene, the
Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration
with our valued partner, the Love County Sheriff’s
Office, initiated an investigation into the matter.
Additionally, two negotiators from the Chickasaw
Lighthorse Police were called upon and promptly joined the operation.
Due to the close proximity of the incident to State Highway 177, a temporary
closure of the highway was deemed necessary to ensure the safety of motorists
and enable law enforcement to effectively manage the situation. Following several hours of negotiation and careful coordination, the situation was peacefully
resolved. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
This successful resolution underscores the importance of collaborative partnerships, increased manpower, and access to specialized resources such as
armored vehicles, which significantly enhance our capacity to address such
challenging situations in a secure manner. Adequate manpower, equipment, and
expertise are critical in responding to incidents of this nature, safeguarding both
the community and law enforcement personnel.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our community for their unwavering support and understanding throughout this operation. While we regret any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the highway, it was a necessary
measure taken in the interest of public safety.
Sheriff Gary W. Dodd and the dedicated team at the Johnston County Sheriff’s
Office express their appreciation to Sheriff Andy Cumberledge and his Deputies
and also the Chickasaw Lighthorse Negotiators for the cooperation and solidarity demonstrated by all involved parties.

A Chickasha man who failed to show up for a
court appearance for a misdemeanor charge is
being held in jail on an unusually high bond of
$500,000. Why? He signed a court document
with an expletive. 31-year old Joshua Nathaniel
Ashley was arrested Sunday because he failed
to show up for a hearing in March. The hearing was scheduled after Ashley was arrested in
December for driving without a license. In his court appearance Monday he
signed “f--- you” on the court minute document and Special District Judge
Gina Lowe set his bond at a half-million dollars.

MCGIRT SET FREE
Jimcy McGirt, 75, of Holdenville, was sentenced to
360 months imprisonment for one count of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in Indian Country, but his plea deal
gave him credit for time served and he is a free man.
On December 5, 2023, McGirt pleaded guilty to
one count of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in Indian
Country. As part of the plea agreement, McGirt confessed to sexually abusing a five-year-old child in August of 1996.
The victim in his case told News On 6 in a statement:
“If you are in that area or know people just, please watch who your kids are around.
He has a lot of supporters. You just don’t know what people are capable of.”
In 1997 In State Court, McGirt was originally sentenced to 500 years in prison. He
appealed that conviction all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, resulting in the landmark ruling in 2020 that vacated the verdict.

TEAMWORK WORKS
We want to highlight another Deputy. Deputy Grant
uncovered a burglary in progress while on patrol on
May 10. During this, 2 subjects ran on foot into a
heavily wooded area. Deputy Grants quick thinking
got extra help in route and began K9 Deputy Havoc
on a track to locate these men in a remote part of
the county. This awesome tracking by K9 Havoc led
to the recovery of over $3000 in stolen item’s from a
local business as well as a welder, a trailer and warrant requests for four individuals!
Great job Deputy Grant and K9 Deputy Havoc! We at Seminole County Sheriff’s Office
are very proud of the work that is being done!
We would also like to thank Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police Department for their
assistance! The cooperation between the departments are very beneficial for the entire community! We are seeing the difference that the teamwork is making!
Great job everyone!

DRUG DEALING FOR DUMMIES:
CHAPTER 3
In This Chapter You Will Learn:
• Rule Number One: Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Two: No Matter What, Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Three: Don’t Fall Asleep With Your Hypodermic Needle In Your Lap
• Rule Number Four: Don’t Be A Criminal
To truly understand the importance of the four basic rules listed above, let’s follow
along with what happened last month to Megan Kachel, who could have easily avoided
all of this, but instead found herself in jail with everyone else who hasn’t read “Drug Dealing For Dummies”!!
Now this incident unfolds as FTO Darien Fedro was responding to the Kangaroo Gas
Station in Florida regarding a person sleeping in their car. When he located the vehicle,
he saw Megan Kachel asleep in the driver seat with the vehicle running and a loaded
syringe in her lap!! After Kachel was awakened from her slumber, she stepped out of the
vehicle and agreed to talk to a deputy whom she admitted to that the syringe in her lap
contained heroin!!
From there, a search of the vehicle revealed a bag on the front passenger seat which
was partially opened with another syringe sticking out. Inside the bag were multiple bags
that contained a substance that field tested positive for Fentanyl, ultimately weighing 2.9
grams and another bag containing approximately 1.5 grams of a crystal like substance
that field tested positive for meth!! And if that wasn’t enough, within one of the bags of
drugs were 3.5 pills which were identified as Alprazolam!!
Since Kachel didn’t follow Rules 1-3, it ultimately led her to Rule 4, so she was given
a free ride to jail on an $8,000 bond for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of
Fentanyl, Possession of Alprazolam and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
As a courtesy, in the
future, it’s highly recommended keeping up with
the various chapters of
“Drug Dealing For Dummies” and especially follow Rule One from today’s
chapter, unless you want
to make a reservation for
yourself at the jail!!

WASHINGTON SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON
Tanner Dean Washington, 29, of Ada, was sentenced to life in
prison for the 2019 murder of his girlfriend, Faith Lindsey.
The charges arose from investigations by the Oklahoma State
Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
District 22 District Attorney Drug and Violent Crime Taskforce, the
Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Pauls Valley Police Department, the Chickasaw Nation
Lighthorse Police Department, and the Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management.
On August 31, 2022, Washington pleaded guilty to one count
of Murder in Indian Country—Second Degree. As part of the plea, Washington admitted to murdering
17-year-old Faith Lindsey on October 27, 2019.
According to investigators, on October 29, 2019, Lindsey’s family called the Seminole County Sheriff’s
Office to report Lindsey as a missing person. During the investigation, law enforcement officers uncovered
evidence of blood in two of Washington’s automobiles as well as on a pair of sunglasses found in one of
the vehicles. Law enforcement interviewed witnesses who reported that on the night Lindsey went missing,
Washington admitted Lindsey “was dead” and “it was his fault.”
The crime occurred in Pontotoc County, within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation Reservation, in
the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Despite an extensive investigation and exhaustive search efforts, Lindsey’s body has yet to be found.
“The defendant’s life sentence is part of our effort to seek justice and accountability for the tragic murder
of an innocent young woman, who had a long and vibrant life ahead of her,” said FBI Oklahoma City Acting
Special Agent in Charge Sonia Garcia. “I am grateful for the unwavering work of our investigators and our
law enforcement partners in this case – may it bring some measure of peace to the victim’s family.”
“The OSBI, along with other law enforcement agencies, continues to search for Faith Lindsey,” said
OSBI Public Information Manager Hunter McKee. “We appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication in
arresting and prosecuting the suspect responsible for this heinous crime. We will continue our search for
Faith and will not give up our efforts until she is brought home.”
“I applaud the great work of the Eastern District U.S. Attorney’s Office for the successful prosecution of
Tanner Washington,” said District Attorney Erik Johnson for District 22 comprising Pontotoc, Seminole, and
Hughes Counties. “This case has left holes in a lot of hearts in Pontotoc County, and I’m glad to see that
Tanner Washington will spend the rest of his days in federal prison.”
“The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department recognizes the valuable partnership between the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the District 22 District Attorney
Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the Seminole and Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Offices, and the Pauls
Valley Police Department for their work to bring resolution to this case,” said Charles C. Palmer, Chief of the
Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department. “The combined efforts to seek justice for a Chickasaw
citizen within the Chickasaw Nation highlights the continued working relationship of law enforcement within
Indian Country.”
“The sentence imposed was a direct result of the defendant’s heinous crime and—despite pleading
guilty—his callous refusal to provide the location of the victim’s body,” said United States Attorney Christopher J. Wilson. “I commend the work of state, county, tribal, and federal law enforcement in identifying
Washington as the suspect and of our federal prosecutors in advocating for a life sentence.”
Washington will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United
States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration. BILL
