Shawnee man Rusty Wayne Cross, 35,
went to jail after he allegedly refused to
stop for a police car on June 18.
According to the police report, shortly
after midnight, a Shawnee officer no- ticed that Cross’ vehicle had a messed
up brake light. When he turned on his
red and blue lights in an attempt to stop
the vehicle, the driving just kept on go- ing, continuing westbound on Rosa and
turning north onto Tucker.
The pursuit continued until the suspect
car finally came to a stop at Tucker and
Franklin.
As the vehicle rolled to a stop, the front
seat passenger threw a Sonic cup out of the window and
took off running. The driver, identified as Cross, and a back
seat passenger, were both placed in handcuffs.
Another officer pursued the runner on foot.
Dispatch advised police that Cross had a suspended driv- er’s license, and his back seat passenger had felony war- rants out of Lincoln County.
Officers set up a perimeter around the area attempted to
find the fleeing front seat passenger, but they were unable to
locate him. Both Cross and the passenger told officers they
didn’t know who the front seat passenger was.
While conducting an inventory of the car, an officer found
a wallet on the front dash console. Inside were identification
cards. The man on the cards matched the description of the
front seat passenger.
Cross is being charged with eluding police officer and driv- ing with license suspended. His bond was set at $5,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on September 1, 2016.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt announced the Attorney General’s Office is
joining efforts with the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women, the
YWCA and the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition to host the 2016 Solutions,
Initiatives, and Strategies Summit exploring issues surrounding domestic violence.
The 2016 Domestic Violence Summit will be held in Oklahoma City to educate and increase awareness about domestic violence, discuss its impact,
prevention, and obstacles to change. City and state leaders, business leaders, professionals, service providers, and members of the faith community will
explore specific issues surrounding domestic violence and its effect on Oklahoma. The goal for this event is to formulate recommendations to stimulate
changes in state policy and create initiatives to benefit survivors of domestic
violence statewide.
“Unfortunately, domestic violence is a serious issue in Oklahoma, affecting
thousands of families each year,” Attorney General Pruitt said. “This summit
is an opportunity to educate and increase awareness of domestic violence in
hopes that we can make strides toward preventing the tragedy of lives being
destroyed by violence in our state.”

When Okmulgee man Paul West
Roberts, 35, heard that an acquaintance had been arrested, he seized
the chance to go to the man’s Okemah residence and get some of his
property back.
Unfortunately, the acquaintance
had no idea who Roberts was. The
man ended up locked up just like his
“friend.”
On June 20 at approximately 7:45
a.m., an Okemah officer was advised that a man was loading items
onto a trailer at a residence in the
200 block of N. 8th Street.
According to the affidavit, he found Roberts at the house. Roberts
told the officer he heard the property owner was in jail, so he decided
to come to his house and get his property back. He said he took a
drill, a speaker box and a large black air compressor from the residence. He said the air compressor belonged to his dad.
Roberts said while getting the air compressor, he saw that speaker
box that he sold to the victim. Realizing the victim never paid for the
speakers, Roberts decided to take them back.
Roberts’s father told police that his air compressor was smaller than
the one Roberts claimed belonged to him.
The officer spoke to the victim who said that he didn’t know Roberts, and he didn’t give the man permission to take anything from his
house.
Roberts is being charged with burglary in the first degree and larceny from the house. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled
to appear in court on July 21, 2016.

Jailbirds needs a route delivery and setup person for our Pottawatomie,
Seminole, Hughes, Pontotoc, and Okfuskee counties route. This is all one
route and is delivered on the 3rd weekend of each month. This is commissionable, contract labor and earnings are 10% of the money collected,
which is approximately $450 each delivery. We prefer someone who lives in
one of these counties but will consider someone close. We need someone
with dependable transportation and a clean record. We need motivated,

On Sunday, June 12, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a shooting on NS 3580 in
Seminole County.
Deputies responded to that location and found
17-year-old Seth Johnson dead from an apparent gunshot wound. A witness was able to identify Curtlon
Panoske,19, as the suspect. Panoske stole the victim’s
vehicle, a 2011 Silver Ford Edge SUV, and drove to Ardmore. An Ardmore police officer conducted a traffic stop
at the Willow Brook Apartments at 115 Monroe Avenue
NE. Panoske stopped the car and ran from the scene.
For several hours, OSBI agents, Ardmore police officers, Seminole County sheriff’s deputies, Carter County sheriff’s deputies, and
Chickasaw Lighthorse police officers pursued Panoske on foot until he was
apprehended at approximately 8 a.m. the next day by a Lighthorse officer.
Panoske was hiding in the backyard of 19 15th Street NE in Ardmore.
Panoske was booked into the Carter County jail on a complaint of first degree murder, possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He transferred to the Seminole County jail shortly
thereafter.

For a trio of drug thieves, it was their lucky day. They broke into a home in
Silver Springs, Florida, and discovered three jars of cocaine. They took it home
and snorted the contents. That’s when they discovered that the jars were in
fact urns, and that they were snorting the cremains of the victim’s husband
and two dogs.
When an attempted robbery at a Lowes Home Improvement store went
awry, Milton J. Hodges fled across the street and jumped a fence … right into
the Cypress Cove Nudist Resort & Spa. As the Orlando Sentinel pointed out,
“As one of the only folks wearing clothing,” Hodges was easily spotted by
police.
It’s the worst possible time to faint—in the middle of robbing a bank. But
that’s what happened to a Beavercreek, Ohio, thief. The teller called 911 and
asked for medics. But you have to applaud the man’s stick-to-it-iveness. While
the ambulance was en route, the suspect handed a note to the teller demanding all her cash.
The victim’s jewelry was missing, the electronics were gone, and a window
was smashed. No wonder she was hysterical when officer Charanjit Meharu of
the Calgary police arrived. Then her French-speaking father called. Speaking
in French, she explained that it was all a scam in order to get the insurance
money. What she didn’t suspect was that Officer Meharu speaks six languages, including French.
A 12-year-old boy adamantly denied having stolen an iPhone when questioned by police at his home. And then the iPhone rang in his closet. Okay, yes,
he stole that. But as for the Blackberry he was also accused of stealing, he
double-adamantly denied… *RING!!*
Don’t you hate it when you suffer a heart attack and think you’re going to die,
so you confess to a 17-year-old murder, only to find out you’re not going to
die and then get sentenced to life in prison as a result? Yeah, so does James
Washington, of Nashville, because it happened to him.
Following a dispute, Craig Aylesworth, of Bithlo, Florida, allegedly tossed a
Molotov Cocktail at his neighbor’s trailer home … just as the winds shifted,
sending embers on to his own trailer. Luckily, he was arrested, since he no
longer had a home of his own to return to.
A San Francisco thief pedaled his bike up to a woman on the sidewalk,
snatched the iPhone out of her hands, and rode away. Unknown to him, the
woman was in the middle of demonstrating the iPhone’s new GPS tracking
device, which worked—the thief was captured minutes later.
Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni was impersonating a police officer when
he pulled over another car for speeding. The driver quickly sussed out that
Mastrogiovanni was fibbing since he, too, was a cop, but in his case, the kind
of cop who doesn’t have to pretend he’s a cop because he really is a cop.
Mastrogiovanni was arrested for impersonating a police officer.
How convenient! Only a few months earlier, an Iowa City, Iowa, man had his
driver’s license stolen. Then who should show up at the bar where he worked
as a bouncer, but the thief brandishing the bouncer’s very own license as his
form of ID.
Is there no honor among thieves? While two suspects were being questioned by Ogden, Utah, police about shoplifting from a store, someone broke
into their car and stole a stereo and several other items.
An El Paso, Texas, man busted into a church and absconded with the safe.
Safes are heavy, so he only got a few yards before dropping it on a neighbor’s
lawn, where he tried to crack it open. That’s when he was confronted by the
home’s occupant—a police officer.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

Allen woman Tracy Renee Ritter, 36, was locked
up after she allegedly fired a gun at her ex-boyfriend
in an attempt to “kill that mother f-----.”
According to the affidavit, a Pontotoc County
deputy was dispatched to the 7000 block of County
Road 3677 around 2 a.m. on June 19 to investigate
the incident. The reporting party told the deputy that
she was inside her home when she heard the gun
shots.
While reporting the shots to 911, Ritter came running to her house. She started screaming that the victim was “out here.” The
woman asked her neighbor who was doing the shooting. Ritter allegedly told
the woman that she was shooting at the man, and she hoped she killed that
“mother f-----.”
The deputy spoke to another man who heard the gunshots. He told the
deputy that he was in bed when the shots were fired. He looked outside and
saw Ritter run across his yard up to his house. She asked him who let the
victim come out there. The man had no idea what she was gibbering about,
but he asked her who had been shooting. Ritter said she was shooting at the
victim and trying to kill that “mother f-----.”
The victim told the deputy he used to date Ritter, and they had broken up
about a month before.
While gathering some of his belongings from Ritter’s parents’ house, the
man heard shots being fired at him. A vehicle began to chase to him, and he
sped away from the property in order to get away from the shooter. He wasn’t
sure who shot at him. He said he guessed it was either Ritter or her current
boyfriend.
Police then went to Ritter’s home to get her side of the story shortly after 6
a.m. She refused to walk outside, so they entered the residence. They found
Ritter standing in the living room. She refused to put her hands behind her
back and sat down on the couch instead. Officers continued to giver her
commands, but she continued to ignore them. She only complied after a
deputy tased her.
Ritter is being charged with shooting with intent to kill and possession of
firearms after conviction or during probation. Her bond was set at $250,000,
and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 20, 2016.
