An El Dorado, Kansas, woman was taken
into custody for possession of child porn.
Kimberly Ann Smith-Gentile, 37, was
charged June 23 with 10 counts pornography- possession of juvenile pornography, in
Pottawatomie County District Court.
According to court records, a warrant
for Smith-Gentile’s arrest was issued with
a bond of $500,000. She was taken into
custody by a Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s
deputy on July 6.
According to Smith-Gentile’s booking
information, her next court appearance is

The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry also has a Patient Referral
Program.
Emphasize to your friend or loved one that it takes a lot of courage to seek
help for a drug problem because there is a lot of hard work ahead. There is
a great deal of scientific evidence that treatment works, and people recover every day. Like other chronic diseases, addiction can be managed successfully. Treatment enables people to counteract the powerfully disruptive
effects of drugs on the brain and behavior and to regain control of their lives.
Like many diseases, it can take several attempts at treatment to find the right
approach. But assure your friend or loved one that you will be supportive in
his or her courageous effort.

When I saw the following post
on a friend’s Facebook page, I
had to share it with my readers:
A famous writer was in his
study and compiled the following list:
1. Last year, my gallbladder
was removed. I was in bed for a
long time.
2. The same year I reached the
age of 60 and had to leave my
favorite job. I spent 30 years with this publishing company.
3. The same year my father died.
4. The same year my son failed his medical exam because he had a car
accident. He was hospitalized with a cast on his leg for several days. The
destruction of the car was a second loss.
His concluding statement: “Alas! It was a bad year!”
When the writer’s wife entered the room, she found her husband looking
dejected and sad. She read what he had written, left the room, and came
back with another piece of paper. The husband read her version of his account of the year’s events:
1. Last year I finally got rid of my gallbladder which had given me many
years of pain.
2. I turned 60 with sound health and retired from my job. Now I can utilize
my time to write with more focus and peace.
3. The same year my father died at the age of 95 without depending on
anyone, without any critical conditions, and met his Creator.
4. The same year, God blessed my son with life. My car was destroyed,
but my son was alive and without permanent disability.
She concluded: This year was an immense blessing.
The moral? It’s not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness
that makes us happy. There is always, always something for which to be
thankful. Our attitude is everything and the one thing we can control.
In a recent “Our Daily Bread” devotional, the author shared the story of
Dr. Virginia Connally.
In 1940, at the age of 27, she braved opposition and criticism to become
the first female physician in Abilene, Texas. A few months before her 100th
birthday in 2012, the Texas Medical Association presented her with its Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor a Texas physician can receive.
Between 1940 and 2012, Dr. Connally embraced a passion for sharing
the gospel message globally. During her many medical mission trips, she
lived a life of service to God and to others — one day at a time.
Her pastor, Phil Christopher, said, “Every day for her is a gift.”
In a letter to her pastor, Dr. Connally wrote, “Every tour, trip, effort, I
wonder if this will be my last and ultimate? Only God knows. And this is
enough.”
What if we quit focusing on yesterday’s disappointments and tomorrow’s
uncertainties and focused on God’s unmatchable gift of today? Wouldn’t
our attitudes change?
When we embrace each day as a gift from God, we can’t help but have
a positive attitude.

An alleged burglar in California whose luck ran out when he got stuck inside a
home’s chimney has been arrested.
Officers from the Ridgecrest Police Department were initially dispatched to a home
after reports of a triggered burglary alarm.
A few minutes later, police got another call — this time from a woman who claimed
that her friend was trapped in a chimney at the same address.
When officers arrived, they discovered Keith Schultz, 28, wedged in the chimney.
They also found signs of forced entry and an open back door, leading them to conclude that Shultz’s accomplices broke into the home with him, and then fled the scene
when they were unable to free him.
Schultz, who was covered in soot in his mug shot, was eventually rescued from the
chimney by firefighters. He was taken to Bakersfield jail and charged with burglary.
Police have arrested two men and seized guns and marijuana after a video emerged
of them appearing in a “mannequin challenge” styled as a shoot-out. The video (which
is very well-done, incidentally) has been shared over 86,000 times is since it was posted to Facebook on November 9, 2016, and quickly become a social-media sensation,
racking up over 173,000 YouTube views.
An official from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office told reporters that after viewing
the video, investigators served a search warrant. They reportedly found two handguns, a shotgun, a rifle, and marijuana that appeared to be packaged for sale at the
residence.
Police have charged Terry Martez Brown, 23, with drug-paraphernalia possession,
loitering, and promoting prison contraband. Kenneth Fennell White, 49, faces charges
of first-degree marijuana possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
28-year-old Ricardo Cardona spent 20 minutes bashing down the door of Hudson Meats in south Austin. When he finally got into the place, he grabbed a couple
of packages of sausages from the cooler and took them back outside. The security
camera captured him walking back in and into the 40°F meat cooler for a moment
before heading to the office area, where he found a warm coat to put on and settled in
to sleeping off the alcohol he’d consumed before his arrival at someone’s desk. When
workers arrived the next morning, they called police. Cardona woke up to the police
officers charging him with criminal trespass.
Florida man Derrick Walden was busted after a six-hour standoff with police. Walden
got into a heated argument with a woman, who called police at around 9:15 P.M. after
the fight began to get seriously heated. Walden then barricaded himself and his victim inside the apartment and threatened to shoot police if they tried to enter the building. Negotiators worked for hours, and at around 3 A.M. the next morning Walden
finally let the woman go. He then fell asleep, enabling officers to arrest Walden, and he
was charged with misdemeanor battery, felony battery, domestic violence (strangulation), probation violation, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
When a police officer in Kootenai County, Idaho, conducted a security check of
Stoddard Park, he was surprised to see a Jeep Cherokee sitting parked next to a
vehicle belonging to the Street Department of Hayden City. He was also surprised
to see a funnel sticking out of the fuel tank of the Jeep, as well as a siphoning hose
in the Street Department vehicle and a gas can between the two vehicles. Inside the
Jeep, a woman was out cold in the front seat with drug paraphernalia sitting on the
Jeep’s center console. When the officer woke the woman up, he realized that she
was also sitting on a small bag of meth. Backup deputies busted Alyssa Wolf, 22,
for possession and drug charges and 25-year-old Scott Miller for siphoning the gas
and burglary charges.

someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money

We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

On June 26, at approximately 11:00 pm, Deputy Goodwin stopped a pickup for a broken tail light on HWY 48
and EW 136 south of Holdenville. After making contact with
the driver who was acting suspiciously nervous, Goodwin
asked for consent to search the pickup for illegal drugs.
The driver gave consent to search the truck and the subsequent search yielded a brown powdery substance that
tested positive for methamphetamine and is believed to be
old school peanut butter meth. It will be sent to OSBI for
testing. The search also yielded an air socket tool full of
marijuana and a bottle of prescription medication with the
label removed that the driver stated stated his sister gave him for pain. The subject
was booked into the Hughes County Jail where some more methamphetamine
was found on the subjects person during the book in process. The subject has
been booked on multiple felony charges.
The Hughes County Sheriff's Office is issuing a public service warning against
parking your vehicles at the gravel parking area at the intersection HWY 9 and
HWY 48. We have had 2 vehicles stolen from there in the last two months.
The vehicle that was stolen last night was a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that is black
in color and has black wheels. Tag information is 118-MRQ.
The vehicle that was stolen in May was a 2010 Ford F-150 that was silver in
color with black wheels. Tag information is BOA-719.
Deputies are asking for anyone with information on these thefts to please call us

A Sand Springs man was locked up after a Seminole County deputy found him driving under the influence on July 3.
22-year-old Skyler Jade Brannon also allegedly
pointed a gun at a couple during his alcohol-fueled
excursion.
According to the affidavit, a Seminole County
deputy was dispatched to Milt Phillips at approximately 8:30 p.m. due to a possible drunk driver
headed northbound on the road. The deputy located the suspect vehicle and stopped the driver in the
2200 block of N. Milt Phillips in Seminole.
The driver identified himself as Brannon.
The deputy was unable to fully see inside the vehicle, so he asked Brannon if he had any weapons. Brannon admitted he had
a handgun.
While speaking to the man, the deputy noticed he smelled strongly like
alcohol. Brannon admitted to drinking a few beers and some whiskey at his
cousin’s house earlier that evening.
The deputy asked the man to exit his vehicle. Brannon was very unsteady
on his feet and had trouble standing upright.
The deputy attempted to administer sobriety tests, but Brannon was unable
to follow simple instructions. The deputy placed the man under arrest.
Officers searched his vehicle and found a loaded revolver between the driver’s seat and center console.
While they were waiting on a tow truck to come get Brannon’s vehicle, a
man came to the scene and identified himself as the reporting party. He said
he and his girlfriend were driving behind Brannon and noticed the man was
driving recklessly. The man tried to get Brannon’s attention and make him pull
over. Both he and Brannon pulled into a parking lot. Brannon then pulled out
his gun and pointed it at the man and his girlfriend.
Brannon is being charged with feloniously pointing firearm and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. His bond was set at $8,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 7, 2017.

On May 19, suspected serial rapist RJ Thompson Jr. was convicted at jury trial on one count of kidnapping, one count of forcible sodomy, two counts of rape in the first degree, one count
of aggravated assault and battery and one count of pattern of
criminal offenses.
This picture, taken July 10, 2017, is of RJ being led out of court
after being formally sentenced. RJ was sentenced to four life sentences plus 40 years. This sentence was ordered to run consecutively. This puts an end to a reign of terror lasting at least 30 years.
During the course of this investigation, at least eight victims
were identified.
RJ was a brutal criminal. He beat and tortured some of his victims while raping them. His last victim, April, was brutally beaten,
to include broken bones in her face. Because of April's brave actions, RJ will
never step foot out of prison alive.
Sadly to say, April was traumatized so severely by his brutality, she overdosed a
week later. April never woke up and died in hospice a year later.
I ask everyone to say a prayer for April and her family. Without April, RJ could
still be on the streets finding more victims. April was a brave hero.

A Missouri man was taken into custody June 23
after he allegedly assaulted a woman and threatened
to kill her ex-husband.
Calvin Menefield was charged June 27 with possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, assault and battery w/deadly weapon, domestic assault
and battery by strangulation, and domestic abuse in
the presence of minors, in Beckham County District
Court.
According to online information, the Beckham
County Sheriff's Office received a report on June 23
that a man had just assaulted a woman and was on
his way to Shamrock, Tx., to kill her ex-husband. Officers with the sheriff’s department, along with Sayre Police, OHP, Elk City Police, Erick Police, and the
Department of Wildlife began searching immediately for the suspect, identified as Menefield.
A short time later, Menefield’s vehicle was found abandoned near I-40 Exit
11 on old Route 66 Highway. Officers searched the area, and also the Eastbound Information Center after someone reported seeing a man there with
a gun.
Menefield was then seen at the Love’s Travel Plaza in Erick and was taken
into custody. His bond was set at $100,000.
Sheriff Derek Manning said he appreciated the strong support and response from area agencies and the public. "This was a perfect example of
agencies working together and the public assisting with good information and
tips. We'd especially like to thank Erick PD for their officer's quick response
once the suspect's location was determined. Because of all those involved,
no one else was hurt, and a potentially dangerous situation was resolved,"
Manning said.
Menefield’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 15 at 9 am.
