A former Item Manager at Tinker
Air Force Base was arrested Nov. 15 on
charges of conspiring to commit wire
fraud, accepting bribes, and participating in government contracting under an
illegal conflict of interest, announced
Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney
for the Western District of Oklahoma. A federal grand jury returned
the sealed indictment against James Lee Loman, 70, of McLoud, on
Nov. 7. The indictment was unsealed when Loman appeared in federal court the same day he was arrested.
According to the indictment, Loman’s responsibilities involved
purchasing replacement parts for military aircraft, in particular those
that use Boeing 707 airframes. The indictment alleges that from approximately 2002 to 2006, Loman accepted large cash payments
from an individual associated with Daytona Aerospace Inc., of Deerfield Beach, Florida, in exchange for favorable treatment in the Air
Force’s purchasing of Boeing 707 replacement parts. Loman allegedly
drove to Florida to pick up the cash on multiple occasions and deposited some of it into an Oklahoma bank account in amounts of less
than $10,000 to avoid detection.
The charges also explain that Loman sent faxes to the individual
in Florida, some of which calculated his bribe payments based on a
percentage of aircraft sales to the Air Force, and some of which kept
track of the amount of bribes due and the amount already paid to him.
The indictment seeks forfeiture of $838,200 as the proceeds that
Loman obtained from the bribery scheme.
Loman is charged in three counts: conspiracy to commit wire fraud,
accepting bribes in connection with his status as a federal official,
and being involved in federal contracting while under a personal conflict of interest. The conspiracy count carries a potential penalty of
20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. The bribery count carries
a potential penalty of 15 years in prison and a fine of the greater of
$250,000 or three times the amount of the bribes. The conflict-ofinterest count carries a potential penalty of five years in prison and a
fine of $250,000.

A 23-year-old Shawnee man was taken into
custody after he allegedly confessed to stabbing his stepfather and then setting his house
on fire.
Joseph Neay was charged Nov. 2 with first
degree murder- deliberate intent, in Pottawatomie County District Court in connection with
the murder of Marty Lee Jones.
According to the police affidavit, firefighters
were called to the 700 block of E. 11th Street
around 10 a.m. earlier that day. Jones’ body
was found soon afterwards and investigators
were called to probe the scene. Evidence of a
struggle inside the home suggested Jones was
stabbed several times and then set on fire.
Records show a possible history of domestic violence between Jones and
his estranged wife, who recently moved out of state. However, Jones’ stepson, Neay, still lived in Shawnee. When investigators went to his apartment
to question him, bloody fingerprints were found on the banister.
During an interview with Neay, he allegedly confessed to stabbing Jones
and starting the fire with a lighter, according to the affidavit. Neay also led
police to the knife he used to stab the victim.
Neay is currently in the Pottawatomie County Safety Center without bond.
His preliminary hearing has been set for Dec. 18 at 1:30 p.m.

An Aussie fugitive is wanted
in Pottawatomie County in
connection with unknowingly
breaking the hearts of three little girls after she escaped from
the family’s home Thanksgiving
night.
Lucy Sparkles was last seen
one mile west of Kickapoo and
Hazeldell near Shawnee. She is
described as two feet tall, gray with reddish-brown hair, 11 months
old, and is a kangaroo joey.
Lucy loves Cheetos and responds to her name, even though she
may be timid at first. If you happen to find her, offer her a Cheeto and
she will hop into a pillow case or pouch-like bag. She is still an infant
in kangaroo years and is very gentle.
Lucy’s family desperately wants her back and is offering a $1000

Investigators need
help with cold case
Judith Elwell, 5, vanished from her parents’ northwest Oklahoma City home sometime before 9 p.m. July
6, 1967. One of her shoes was found the next day beside
an abandoned house half a block from the Elwell home,
leading police to theorize she lost the shoe while struggling with her kidnapper. No other trace of her turned up.
In the hours and days after her disappearance, hundreds of searchers swept across the area. Individual volunteers mingled with police, firefighters and Civil Air
Patrol workers, and a command post grew outside the
Elwell’s house. After three days the hunt was called off. At
some point over the past four decades, the police case file
was misplaced or destroyed.
Another little girl named Brenda White, 6, from Midwest City, went missing a month after Judith. Unfortunately, hunters found Brenda’s body in November 1967
about 11 miles east of her home in a shallow grave. Judith
has never been found. Police believe on person could be responsible for both disappearances,
as they happened so close together.

Tulsa Police arrested a Sand Springs man in the
early-morning hours of Nov. 9 after he allegedly
shoplifted from a QuikTrip store.
Jail records show Justin Levi Brimer, 24, was
arrested on complaints of driving under the influence, assault and battery on a police officer and endangering others while eluding police.
Justin Brimer stole a case of beer and some taquitos from the QT at I-244 and Sheridan at around 2
a.m, according to a report. As Brimer was fleeing
the scene in his truck, a Tulsa police officer pulled
into the store’s parking lot just the clerk went outside. The clerk pointed at the truck and the chase
was on.
Police officers caught up with him on I-244 and,
after a short chase, Brimer pulled his pickup truck over. The beer and food
were found in his truck.
After much ado, Brimer was taken to the Tulsa County Jail and booked.

William Lewallen, a 47-year-old Tulsa
man, was jailed Nov. 11 after police found
three unattended, naked children on his
property. One child was found locked in a
dog cage, covered with feces.
According to police, officers were
dispatched to Lewallen’s residence after
a neighbor heard the screams of a child
who had been stripped naked and locked
outside in the cold while the boy’s father
was passed out inside.
Investigators say officers arrived at the
residence and could immediately hear a
child screaming from inside the residence.
While looking for an open entrance
into the house, officers came upon an
18-month-old girl who was naked, covered
in feces and locked inside a dog cage.
When the officers kicked in the home’s
back door, they encountered a second
naked child inside who seemed to be
unattended. A further sweep of the house
revealed a third naked child who was
asleep on a bed in the master bedroom.
Officers also found Lewallen who was
passed out next to
the child.

Lewallen stated
that he fell asleep
after ingesting
a combination
of pain meds, a
muscle relaxer
and anti-seizure
medication.
“The screaming child in the dog kennel
did not wake the defendant nor did the
officers kicking the door down to rescue
the toddler in the dog cage,” stated a police
arrest affidavit.
Officers also noted in their report that the
home had no heat (it was about 40 degrees
that day) and there was little food in the
house to eat.
Lewallen was booked into jail and charged
with felony child neglect. His bond has
been set at $50,000.

A Konawa woman was taken into custody after she took
revenge on her neighbor.
Judy Grotts, 55, was charged Nov. 2 with first-degree
attempted burglary with a dangerous weapon, malicious
injury to property, resisting an officer, and assault and
battery upon a police officer in Seminole County District
Court.
According to the police affidavit, Konawa Police Officer
Belle Mullins was on patrol Oct. 22 in the area of South
East Street when she was flagged down by a resident at a
home there. As Mullins was pulling into the parking lot,
she noticed Grotts going into her home on the opposite
side of the parking lot. The resident said Grotts had just
been to her home and shattered her front door glass with
a baseball bat.
After speaking with several witnesses who said they saw Grotts with a beer in one hand
and a baseball bat in the other, Mullins went to Grotts’ home across the street and asked
her what happened.
Grotts welcomed Mullins into her home, but her dog did not, so they went outside. She
immediately told the officer that she “bashed in that b**ch’s door with a baseball bat,”
all while she was laughing about it. Grotts added the reason she bashed the door in was
because her neighbor’s boyfriend had volunteered to work on her son’s truck, and after
several months, he still hadn’t returned it, even though the neighbor’s boyfriend was
driving it around.
The officer spoke with the neighbor’s boyfriend and discovered Grotts’ son had not
been paid for the work done to the truck.
Grotts began filling out a statement, but stopped short of admitting on paper she had
shattered the door. She then asked Mullins if she was going to jail, and when Mullins said
yes, Grotts took off running. Mullins caught her after a short chase, but had to wrestle
her to the ground because Grotts was kicking and punching her while she was getting
the cuffs on. Mullins was forced to drag Grotts across the yard and into the parking area
because Grotts refused to go peacefully.
After much ado, and a little help from a witness, Grotts was placed in the patrol car and
transported to the Seminole County Jail where she booked in.

A 20-year-old New Lima man is being held in the Seminole County Jail
without bond after he was arrested late
Nov. 16 in connection with the murder
of a Seminole County teenager.
Jace Conger was arrested at 104 N.
D Street in New Lima and was charged
Nov. 26 with first-degree murder- deliberate intent, in Seminole County
District Court.
The Seminole County Sheriff requested OSBI assistance with the homicide case after Troy Dalton Brown,
19, was found dead on East West 118
Road between Wewoka and Seminole.
The medical examiner will determine how Brown died.
The investigation involving OSBI, the Seminole County Sheriff’s
Office, and the District Attorney’s Office continues.

Today, I’m going to discuss who
has the biggest impact on our
new drivers that hit the road each
and every day. First, the Oklahoma Driver’s Education classes and
schools across the state are second to none, and do a fantastic job
of educating our young drivers on the law, and proper way to safely
operate a motor vehicle. I would like to point to some other folks, who
I believe have a far greater impact on how our youngsters approach
driving, and address them, and that is the adults who these young
drivers look up to: the parents, older siblings, and extended family.
If you fit in this category, please pay attention. I believe that our
kids learn their driving behavior not from the Oklahoma Highway
Patrol, other law enforcement, or driver’s education instructor, but
from you, the parents and family. I know I learned that way! Let me
give you some examples.
You are a dad, and for whatever reason, when you are driving in
town, or on a county road, you just don’t buckle up. Maybe its because
you don’t drive fast in these areas, or have a farm tag and just don’t
have to; however, you do buckle up when you get on highways or go
on long drives. The message you are sending is that when you are in
the vehicle there are certain times that it is ok not to wear your seat
belt. If dad doesn’t have to do it, I don’t either! In fact, at least 50%
of all accidents happen on county roads, and you are more likely to be
in an accident within 10 miles of your residence than otherwise. So
the real message you are sending is, don’t buckle up during the times
that you are most likely to need it!
Next, mom gets off work at 5:00, and one of the kids has a ball
game in another town at 5:30. She can get there if she speeds. After
all, it is important to get to those activities, and it won’t hurt to push
the speed just a little. The message you send to your kids is, its ok to
speed, as long as you can justify it! The facts are that unsafe speeds
kill more young people 16 to 25 than any other single thing! The
message here needs to be that its ok to slow down and show up a few
minutes late.....it is much better than the alternative, which is never
showing up at all because you’ve been involved in an accident.
Please remember, when you are driving, you are setting the example
for someone....and they are watching you all the time. What message
are you sending? I hope it’s the one that says, I’ll lead by example
because I love you, and want to do my part to keep you safe! Thanks

What The Bible Says About Drugs
Respect the drug laws of the land – Finding specific
reference to drugs in the Word of God is difficult. However,
the effects from illegal drugs and abuse of prescription
medication is obviously against the law of man. It is illegal,
therefore, as Christians and citizens, we are to respect the
laws of the land. God has put people in government positions
to make choices for the better of mankind (remains to be
determined if man has done a good job or not).
Altering our minds – We also know that in several places
throughout the Bible we are warned of the foolishness of
altering our minds by way
of alcohol. In 1 Peter 2:11,
we are to abstain from
the passions of the flesh,
which wage war against our
soul. Therefore, anything
that causes us to destroy
ourselves, obviously should
be avoided. This could
be interpreted as drugs,
alcohol, sexual immorality,
gluttony, etc.

Holdenville police were dispatched to the area of Echo and
5th Streets around 11:30 p.m on
Oct. 22 after an off-duty police
officer reported hearing several
shots fired.
Soon afterwards, officers
from the Holdenville Police Department and Hughes County
Sheriffs Department took Michael Lawrence James, 35, and
Harmony Luv Walton, 33, into
custody.
James was booked into the
Holdenville Jail and then transported to the Seminole County
Jail after police found him standing on his front porch talking on his cell phone with a
rifle in his hand. He faces charges of reckless conduct with a firearm, assault and battery
upon a police officer, and resisting an officer.
Walton was also arrested and faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer
after she would not back off while officers tried to detain James, according to the police
affidavit.
James gave police a reason for concern when he ran from the porch and took cover
behind a nearby car after officers told him to drop his weapon. Officers then drew their
service weapons and also took cover, fully expecting a possible shootout. Fortunately for
everyone, James came out from behind the vehicle without the rifle, but when officers
tried to cuff him, he fought them tooth and nail, punching and kicking several officers
before they got him subdued by tasing him.
During the skirmish, Walton came out of the house and began screaming profanities at
the officers. She was warned several times to stay back or get tased herself. She narrowly
avoided getting tased, but not the ride to jail.
Bond was set for James at $10,000 and he was ordered to appear in court Dec. 27 at
10 a.m.

A county jail inmate is looking
at more time in the slammer after he tried to make a break for
freedom.
Emilio Martinez, 22, was currently serving time on a probation violations, and more than
likely will do even more time
on charges of escaping from the
county jail.
According to the police affidavit, Martinez was under observation when he escaped through a
door that was open for paramedics. Several Holdenville officers
chased Martinez to his sister’s house several blocks away from
the jail. When he was caught, he put up a struggle and officers
were forced to tase him.
Martinez is back in the county jail without bond awaiting his
preliminary hearing Nov. 27 at 9 a.m.
Escape is futile
MARTINEZ
Oklahoma City: Dennis Newton was on trial for the
armed robbery of a convenience store in a district court
when he fi red his lawyer. Assistant district attorney
Larry Jones said Newton, 47, was doing a fair job of defending himself until the store manager testifi ed that
Newton was the robber. Newton jumped up, accused
the woman of lying and then said, “I should of blown
your (expletive) head off .” The defendant paused, then
quickly added, “if I’d been the one that was there.” The
jury took 20 minutes to convict Newton and recommended a 30 year sentence.
A motorist was unknowingly caught in an automated speed trap that measured his speed using radar and
photographed his car. He later received in the mail a
ticket for $40 and a photo of his car. Instead of payment, he sent the police department a photograph of
$40. Several days later, he received a letter from the
police that contained another picture... of handcuff s.
The motorist promptly sent the money for the fi ne.
A woman was reporting her car as stolen, and mentioned that there was a car phone in it. The policeman
taking the report called the phone and told the guy
that answered that he had read the ad in the newspaper and wanted to buy the car. They arranged to meet,
and the thief was arrested.
Drug Possession Defendant Christopher Jansen,
on trial in March in Pontiac, Michigan, said he had
been searched without a warrant. The prosecutor said
the offi cer didn’t need a warrant because a “bulge” in
Christopher’s jacket could have been a gun. Nonsense,
said Christopher, who happened to be wearing the
same jacket that day in court. He handed it over so the
judge could see it. The judge discovered a packet of
cocaine in the pocket and laughed so hard he required
a fi ve minute recess to compose himself.
Detroit: R.C. Gaitlan, 21, walked up to two patrol
offi cers who were showing their squad car computer
equipment to children in a Detroit neighborhood.
When he asked how the system worked, the offi cer
asked him for identifi cation. Gaitlan gave them his
drivers license, they entered it into the computer, and
moments later they arrested Gaitlan because information on the screen showed Gaitlan was wanted for a
two-year-old armed robbery in St. Louis, Missouri.
