A 34-year-old Shawnee man who wrecked his truck on October
26 tried to hide in a drainage ditch to avoid cops.
Guess what, Jon Matthew Rogers? You can run, but you can’t hide!
According to the affidavit, it was about 12:49 a.m. when Shawnee
officers responded to a wreck on Center and Ada. The driver of the
vehicle, later identified as Rogers, had apparently flipped the truck
over in a ditch.
Witnesses told police they saw Rogers leave the scene and hide in
a drainage ditch.
An officer found Rogers in the drainage ditch under East Edwards,
and he asked the man why he was in the ditch. Rogers said he was
trying to get home.
(Was this man actually a gopher?)
Another officer asked Rogers how he ended up in the ditch. He said he was driving, but he
wrecked his truck. The officer then asked him if he knew where he wrecked his truck. Rogers
pointed at his rolled-over vehicle in the ditch.
While speaking to the truck-flipping man, police noticed he smelled like alcohol and had
extremely slurred speech. He was also unsteady on his feet and needed assistance standing.
Rogers didn’t deny being intoxicated -- he told police he had been at a friend’s house in Oklahoma City drinking beer and whiskey.
Whiskey doesn’t make him frisky -- it makes him “tipsy” his truck!
Rogers is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 6, 2015.

time, law-abiding sportsmen received a bad reputation from those who fail to distinguish between legal and illegal hunting. OGT is something everyone can do to help
wildlife and help us apprehend the poachers.

Hello to all, and Happy
Thanksgiving!
By the time you read this, you will have probably made all your
holiday travel plans, if you are going somewhere, or have people
coming to your home to celebrate. The roadways will be extra busy,
and with a lot of people traveling at the same time, the chances for
accidents also go way up. I’m going to give a few tips on how to
minimize your chances of being involved in an accident, and some
ways to help insure your holidays are safe.
Every year, we work a lot of accidents on people who are “running
late”. Speed plays a major role in accidents, as well as the severity
of an accident. Speed decreases reaction time, which a driver needs
to be able to react to anything that happens in front of them. What
is the best thing you can do to not be “running late”? Simply plan
your holiday travel a little in advance. You know what time you
and your family get off work, or get out of school, so plan your
departure time accordingly. Give yourself plenty of time for delays,
bathroom and snack stops, etc. Also, if you are running late, its
OK! The people you are going to see would rather you be late, than
not arrive at all because you were involved in an accident.
Another major factor in holiday accidents are a result of
celebrating, and then making a bad decision. I’m not going to tell
you not to enjoy your holiday, and if partaking in some egg nog or
other alcoholic drink is part of your celebration, that’s fine. Just
don’t decide to drive after you drink. Drinking and driving is a
decision, not an accident. Planning here goes a long way towards
a safe holiday. If you know you are going to drink, plan on staying
where you are, or have a designated driver.
Another thing you can do to stay safe is wear your seat belt. The
accident may not be your fault, and you may be doing everything
right, and could still end up in the hospital or worse, because you
didn’t have your seatbelt on. Even minor accidents can cause
significant damage to us if we are not properly restrained. Every
Trooper on the road has worked a fatality accident which we all
know in our heart would not have resulted in death had the person
been using a seatbelt. It takes no time to put on, but it may be the
most important thing you can do this holiday season.
To sum up, slow down and enjoy the holiday season! Plan ahead,
and use a designated driver or stay put if you use alcohol in your
celebrations. No one wants to spend the holidays in a hospital or
worse! Holidays are for celebration, so lets take care of ourselves
and each other.

In July of 2006, skeletal remains were discovered on
rural property in the area of Bailey Road and Sandhill Road
in Bray. DNA testing confi rmed the remains are those of
Rose Bagley, 55, of Lindsey. She was reported missing
by family members in May 2006. The Stephens County
Sheriff ’s Offi ce requested OSBI agents help investigate the
homicide case. Investigators spent the next several years
running leads.
Due to severe drought conditions, more remains were
discovered this March in an area pond. This evidence could
prove crucial to the investigation. Agents have had that
pond drained to search for evidence in the case.
Numerous OSBI agents, Stephens County Sheriff Offi ce
deputies, a forensic anthropologist with the Medical
Examiner’s Offi ce, and an archeologist with OU’s Crime
Scene Archeology Recovery Group will spend several days
in the area where Ms. Bagley’s remains were discovered.
The dig began the morning of Nov. 12.

A Wewoka woman with a dirty tag
was arrested November 17 after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of illegal items.
A Wewoka police officer was traveling eastbound on First Street around
10:40 p.m. when he saw a red SUV
with a license plate that was hanging
on for dear life. The tag kept bouncing
around and it was hard for the officer
to see the month and year on it, according to the affidavit.
The officer pulled over the vehicle
on First and Eufaula. When he approached the SUV, the driver, Jennifer Kaye Webb, 32, said, “My tag’s really dirty, huh?”
The officer agreed and told her she needed to secure it better. As
they spoke, the officer noticed Webb was leaning forward toward the
steering wheel as though she was trying to hide something. He asked
her to step out of the vehicle and speak to him.
When he asked her if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, she
stuttered, “Uh, no.”
The officer then asked for consent to search the vehicle. She agreed
and told him there was nothing in the vehicle, but her eyes started
tearing up as though she was about to start crying. And for good
reason!
Between the driver’s seat and console, the officer found a bag containing a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, a pipe and Tylenol with codeine.
Webb started crying and told the officer, “It’s not mine. I let a lot
of people drive my car.”
Maybe you should rethink the company you keep, Webb!
Webb is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond
was set at $7,500, and she was scheduled to appear in court on November 21, 2014.

despite this decrease, there
were still 10,228
lives lost – that’s
one person every 51 minutes. That makes it everyone's problem.
It seems that many people were doing their part to put a stop to
this completely preventable epidemic. Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s. Research also indicates
that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends Don't Let
Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened to stop
someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90's, alcohol-related driving deaths have
been steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was
very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many thought the messages to be targeted at overtly
drunk drivers, and not them. When decision time came, they would
consider themselves merely "buzzed" and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December 2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the
dangers of "buzzed" driving and subsequently, to motivate people
to stop driving buzzed. The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed driving and drunk driving and demonstrating
the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of buzzed
driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed Driving is
Drunk Driving.

OSBI agents have arrested a Guthrie man for sexually assaulting
and beating an 85-year-old woman December 25, 1997. David
Jerome Stephens, II, 35, was arrested Oct. 23, at his home located
at 11775 Red Cedar Road in Guthrie.
An OSBI DNA analyst alerted the OSBI case agent of a DNA hit
on the case from the Combined DNA Index System. Days before
the statute of limitations would have run out, that agent filed a
John Doe warrant based off a DNA profile collected from the rape
victim. The warrant allowed the case to legally remain active.
Moena House was beaten with a pipe and sexually assaulted
Christmas morning inside her Guthrie home after giving in to her
attacker’s demands for money. House died in 2008.
DNA was collected from Stephens for a 2013 conviction of
possession of a controlled dangerous drug within 1000 feet of a school/park/child. Stephens has a
lengthy arrest record starting in 1997.

Holdenville woman Alisha Culley,
28 was arrested (and undoubtedly
fired) when it was discovered that she
was stealing anything and everything
she could get her hands on while working at her new job at the hospital.
On November 10, a Holdenville police officer was dispatched to the hospital around 9:30 a.m. to investigate a
report that a new employee was making up her own job perks and taking
work home with her, according to the
affidavit.
A hospital human resources employee told the officer that although Culley had just started working at
the hospital, she had already managed to run her short-lived hospital
career into the ground.
The employee showed the officer a video of Culley’s heist, which
showed Culley putting cleaning supplies, mops, blankets, syringes,
a biohazard container, bed linen and feminine products into trash
bags and totes.
The (some questionable) items taken totaled $583.46.
After viewing the video and taking a copy as evidence, the officer
went to the 200 block of E. Cypress to speak to Culley. She didn’t try
to deny stealing from the job, and admitted to stealing the items. The
officer asked her to gather up the stolen things so he could return
them to the hospital, and she agreed.
All of the items, except for $107.77 worth of the things, were returned to the hospital. Culley was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
Culley is being charged with grand larceny and knowingly concealing stolen property. She was released on a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 2, 2014.

A Kentucky woman was arrested on November 4
for crystal meth possession while wearing a t-shirt
that said “I Heart Crystal Meth”
Deborah Delane Asher, 37, was charged with trafficking a control substance, methamphetamine in
the photo seen above. Richard Jeffrey Rice, 57, was
also arrested at that time and faces the same charges. According to the Laurel Co. Sheriff’s Department,
“the arrests were the result of a drug investigation
conducted there after deputies located 2 subjects in
possession of 3.37 grams of crystal meth and a set of
digital scales.”
The arrests were made at Dolly Miller Road, six miles north of London,
Kentucky.

A drunk Ada man found at the scene of a
wreck (he wasn’t involved) told an officer he
was two years old and needed the officer to follow him while he picked up his sister.
Say what?
According to the affidavit, an Ada police officer reported to a minor accident in the 1800
block of Arlington around noon on November
13. When he arrived, he saw three vehicles, including a Mustang, stopped at the stoplight. He
checked on everyone involved, but he noticed
that the Mustang driver had a dazed appearance.
The officer met with another man at the scene, and the man told
him the Mustang driver was not involved in the accident. Sure
enough, the officer didn’t see any damage indicating the Mustang
was involved. He made contact with the driver, identified as Manuel
Morales Jr., 21.
Morales asked the officer if he would follow him to his parents’
house so he could pick up his sister. The officer asked him if he was
involved in the accident -- Morales said he was. The officer asked the
man for identification, but Morales told him he lost it.
Morales had slurred speech, droopy eyes and seemed to have trouble answering the officer’s questions. For example, when the officer
asked Morales for his date of birth, Morales said it was May 16, 2012.
The officer asked him if he was really two years old. Morales then
gave the officer two other birth dates.
The officer asked Morales to step out of his vehicle, and he administered sobriety tests (just to make sure). Morales, not surprisingly,
couldn’t prove his sobriety, so the officer placed him under arrest.
During inventory of the man’s vehicle, police found two baggies
containing a green leafy substance; they both field-tested positive for
marijuana.
Morales is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, falsely personating another to create liability and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was
released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
January 21, 2015.
