LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT
involving DAMAGE
Reports of crime in the neighborhood
can make one feel uneasy. The affected
community may work to rebuild
its sense of security by hiring more
police, improving street lighting, and
imposing strict curfews. In addition
to this, community efforts to reduce
poverty and provide better educational
opportunities for all community
members can help eliminate crimes of
desperation and strengthen the fiber of
the community.
To eliminate crime entirely, wouldn’t
we also need to address other issues
that cause criminal behavior? Wouldn’t
we need to address things such as
dishonesty, disrespect, greed, and hatred that seem to come from
within individuals? As Jesus pointed out, “Evil thoughts come out
of the heart” (Matthew 15:19 New International Reader’s Version).
To end criminal behavior, we need to reach the heart of people with
the healing touch of divine Love.
Jesus’ life, recorded in the Bible, shows us how to love as God
loves. This spiritual love changes people’s hearts. Knowing that
God is only good and is the true Father and Mother, the governing
Principle, of all humanity, Jesus looked beyond the erring human
personality to discern the pure and perfect spiritual identity of an
individual. Jesus loved – deeply appreciated and acknowledged –
this true identity. When he met Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector,
Jesus loved him as God had created him, looking beyond his corrupt
behavior to perceive reality – Zacchaeus’ honesty and uprightness
(see Luke 19:2-8). This perfect love reached the heart of Zacchaeus
and changed his behavior. He pledged to return the money he had
taken unlawfully, recompense for the wrong he had done, and
reestablish his life on an honest foundation.

A Shawnee man, who admitted that he was over the legal limit, said bye to 2013 and hello to a jail cell after he was arrested for
drunk driving on New Year’s Eve.
According to the affidavit, a McCloud police officer was on patrol when he saw a black truck traveling southbound on McCloud
Road. The truck was swerving all over the road, crossing the centerline twice, and traveling approximately 40 mph in a 55 mph
zone.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, and as soon as he made contact with the driver, 26-year-old Marvin Darnell Battle, he smelled
the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Battle also had
bloodshot watery eyes and was speaking in slurred speech.
The officer asked Battle if he had consumed any alcohol. Battle
said no.
The officer then asked him if he had taken any narcotics; Battle replied, “No, I don’t do
that.”
The officer asked Battle again if he had consumed alcohol, and Battle ‘fessed up this time,
saying, “To be honest, yeah I did.”
Battle admitted to drinking 3 or 4 beers and taking some shots and told the officer, “I’m
over the legal limit, I should not have drove.”
After the standard field sobriety tests, the officer confirmed that Battle was indeed intoxicated, and he placed the New Year’s reveler under arrest.
As he was patting down Battle prior to placing him in the patrol car, the officer discovered
a gun magazine containing bullets.
He asked Battle where the gun was and Battle replied, “I left it at home.”
The officer asked Battle the location of the gun again, and Battle said, “Oh wait, it’s in my
truck.”
When the officer inventoried the truck prior to it being impounded, he found an unloaded
pistol in the backseat of the truck. He also found a black gun case in the floorboard that contained three fully loaded magazines.
Battle is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under influence of alcohol. He
was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 6, 2014.
Bye 2013, Hello jail!

Michael Wilson
Michael Lee Wilson was
pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. on
Jan. 9, 2014, by lethal injection,
for the murder of his co-worker,
Richard Yost.
Michael Lee Wilson and Richard
Kevin Yost were employees at the
local Quik Trip together. Wilson
planned to rob the store with Billy
Alverson, Darwin Brown and
Richard Harjo two weeks prior to
the murder. Shortly after Yost began
his shift on Feb. 25, 1995, Yost was
surrounded by Wilson, Alverson,
Brown and Harjo. Yost was dragged
to the back room where he was beaten to death by an aluminum
baseball bat. Following the beating, Wilson took money from the
store’s safe and cash registers while helping several customers
check out. All of these actions were seen by Quik Trip’s surveillance
tapes.
Shortly after Wilson’s arrest, Wilson’s mother called the police
and directed them to evidence of the robbery that was located at
her home. Police also found the safe and other materials from the
robbery at Alverson’s house.
Prior to this case, Wilson was an accessory to murder in 1995.
While Wilson was in custody, he committed assault and battery
upon another inmate and got into several fi ghts with inmates.
“Michael Lee Wilson was sentenced to death by a jury of his peers
for the heinous beating of Richard Yost, who was simply doing his
job,” Attorney General Scott Pruitt said. “My thoughts and prayers
are with Richard’s family and friends.”

An intoxicated Shawnee mother, who was sure that her
son was going to be in trouble with police for not picking up
sticks, was taken to jail when they learned that she had assaulted her son.
On Jan. 2, a Pottawatomie County deputy was dispatched
to a Shawnee residence in reference to a disturbance between
a mother and a son. Dispatch advised that the altercation had
been physical, the affidavit states.
When the deputy arrived, another officer was standing in
the driveway speaking to Kelly Jean Martin, 52.
Martin was so intoxicated that police had trouble understanding what she was talking about. She told them about
4-wheelers, her son cleaning brush in the yard, the Internet,
people in the house and squirrels.
The deputy was able to discern that Martin was upset with
her son after she told him to clean some broken tree limbs and brush in the yard. Apparently,
Martin’s son’s work was not up to her specifications; she told police that he never does what
she says, and he always disobeys her.
She said that he refused to finish the job and went inside the house. She explained that she
followed him inside and told him to finish the work or else.
Police went inside the house and spoke with Martin’s son and his friend. Her son told police that she woke him up and began “picking a fight” with him. She told him to go outside
and clean broken limbs and brush in the yard.
He said that he and his friend cleaned up the yard and went back inside. She allegedly
began yelling and cussing at him and hit him in the head. He said he tried to get away from
her and ran outside; he added that Martin followed him and began chasing him around the
house.
His friend confirmed the story.
Police observed scratch marks on the son where Martin allegedly scratched him as she was
trying to grab him.
The deputy arrested Martin and transported her to jail.
Martin is being charged with domestic abuse assault & battery. She was released on a
$3,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 17, 2014.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Well, winter is here! With this
most recent ice and snow storm
that gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant
obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t
really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by
iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch
on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give
some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to go
out 10 minutes before you leave and simply start your car up, and
get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good
to go! Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical deicing sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is providing the following public
service announcement:
The public is advised there is currently a fraudulent phone and e-mail
scam targeting Oklahoma utility customers. Customers have received
phone calls from individuals claiming to be with the utility company’s billing department. The caller advises the customers they have a past-due balance, and if they do not provide credit card or bank account information,
their service will be remotely terminated.
Customers have also received e-mails stating their bill is now available
and that the amount owed is past due. The e-mail instructs customers to
click on an embedded link to pay the past-due bill. The public is advised this
is a fraudulent phone and e-mail phishing scam.
This type of fraudulent solicitation is not unique to utility companies, and
similar scams have been attempted using banks, government agencies, and
numerous other legitimate businesses. Individuals should not provide any information or click on the embedded
links. Individuals who receive suspicious or unsolicited phone calls or e-mails should contact their service provider
or the involved business directly to verify the validity of the request.

By Lori Fullbright,
News On 6
A former Rogers County Commissioner who spent time in prison is in
trouble with the law again.
Deputies arrested Randy Baldridge
on Jan. 7.
Tulsa police say a witness has accused Baldridge of picking up runaway
boys and giving them drugs, sometimes
in exchange for sexual favors.
Someone else told police that Baldridge had given him methamphetamine and he later woke up naked in a
field.
TPD turned over the investigation
to Rogers County since the allegations
were centered there.
The Rogers County THUG task force
took him into custody. They say he had
a 16-year-old runaway from Tulsa with
him at the time.
The two were at a Rogers County
home where deputies say they found syringes in the boy’s backpack that tested
positive for containing methamphetamine.
Deputies say they got permission to
search Baldridge’s vehicle and found a
glass smoking device, several syringes
and a silver spoon, all with a white,
powdery substance on them that also
tested positive for meth.
They say all this was found less than
200 feet from the Tiawah Elementary
School.
An affidavit says
Baldridge admitted
supplying teenage
boys with meth, but
he first claimed he
bought it as a way to
keep the boys from
going into those
kinds of places.
It says he originally denied using
meth himself, but later admitted, with
tears in his eyes, that he did use it.
This appears to be a long downward
spiral from where Baldridge was when
voters elected him to be a Rogers County commissioner.
However, in 2007, a federal jury
found him guilty of money laundering,
mail fraud, obtaining money by fraud
and other counts and a judge sentenced
Baldridge to 37 months in federal prison.
The sheriff says when Baldridge was
released from prison, he came back to
Rogers County, got a job and things
were quiet until his office received these
recent complaints.
The affidavit says a second teenage
runaway boy has been at Baldridge’s
home many times, for long periods of
time, but he was dropped off at a Tulsa
house and deputies are still searching
for him.

A Wewoka woman is in jail after she
stabbed a surprisingly sympathetic victim.
On Jan. 6, Wewoka police responded
to a residence in the 1700 block of South
Ochesse in reference to a stabbing. According to the affidavit, the officers were
advised that a female suspect had stabbed
a male, and he was bleeding badly and in
need of medical attention.
When police arrived at the residence,
they saw the suspect, 24-year-old Samantha Jo Oldman, standing in the front
yard, and her victim was sitting on the
front porch.
An officer approached Oldman and asked her if she was the person
who had stabbed someone. She said yes, and pulled a closed pocketknife out from her hoodie pocket and told police that was what she
used in the stabbing.
The officer placed her in handcuffs and put her in the patrol car.
EMS arrived to take care of the victim, and Oldman was transported
to jail.
The next day, police spoke with the victim and took photographs
of his injuries. While taking pictures of the pocketknife, an officer
noticed what appeared to be blood on the blade of the knife.
The victim told police that Oldman needed “help bad,” because she
had been talking about “eating her kids” and “having her brother tied
up in the attic.”
The victim said that Oldman was usually “so nice of a girl,” but she
would later talk about “strange things that is not right.”
He added that she allegedly had a book where she wrote down
her crazy thoughts, and that she was just a good person that needed
mental help. He said that he forgave her for stabbing him, because he
knows that she needs help.
Oldman is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
She is being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on Feb. 6, 2014.

A Wewoka man learned that no matter how low you crouch, you
can’t escape the long arm of the law. after he was arrested for a
warrant on Jan. 2.
According to the affidavit, a Wewoka police officer was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of E. Seventh Street in
reference to a domestic disturbance.
When the officer arrived, he knocked on the front door and
identified himself to the occupants.
No one came to the door, but the officer heard movement inside
the house. He looked in the front window and saw a male crouching down, as though he was trying to hide from the officer.
The officer knocked again, yelled “Police!”, and said that he
received a call about a domestic at the residence and needed to
make sure that everything was OK.
The officer went back to his patrol car and shortly after, a man walked out of the house.
The officer made contact with the man and asked him what was going on.
The man said nothing, and that they didn’t call the police.
The officer told him that a call did come in, and he wanted to make sure that everything
was OK.
He asked if anyone else was in the house, and the man said that his girlfriend was in there.
The officer asked to speak to her, and the man led him inside the house.
The woman appeared as though she had just woken up. The officer asked them both for
identification, and he identified the man as Steven Terrell Jones, 31.
He checked both for warrants, and found that Jones had a warrant in Seminole County for
a probation violation.
The officer placed Jones in handcuffs and transported him to jail. On the way to jail, the
officer asked him if he had anything illegal on him. Jones said that he did not.
When they arrived at the jail, a detention officer searched Jones during booking. He found
a clear baggy that contained a white crystal substance in one of Jones’ pockets.
The officer asked Jones what was in the baggy, and Jones told him that it wasn’t his.
When the officer specified that he wanted to know what was in the baggy, Jones simply told
him that was what he uses.
The substance field-tested positive for meth.
Jones is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is being
held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6, 2014.

Two Stuart men’s plan to steel scrap metal was foiled when
police arrived at the residence just in time to stop the burglary. Oh, the iron-y!
On Jan. 7, Hughes County deputies were dispatched to a
residence in the 4000 block of N S 387 in reference to a burglary in progress, the affidavit states.
When they arrived, the made contact with Derrick Ray
Belcher, 34. Belcher told them that he and 34-year-old Jace
Lewis Wooley were at the property because Wooley wanted
to look.
Belcher said he did not want to go, but Wooley had been
driving. He said Wooley drove onto the property just to look,
then they turned around to leave.
Belcher added that he did not want to be on the property,
because he knew that Wooley was a “piece of s--- and is always stealing things.”
Belcher said he would not have let his klepto friend steal
anything.
A deputy located the men’s truck and noticed that it was
near a large pile of scrap metal. In the bed of the truck, the
deputy saw a cutting torch, leads and two tanks on a dolly.
According to the affidavit, the items are associated with stealing scrap metal.
After further questioning, Belcher admitted that he had
gone on the property with Wooley to steal the scrap metal
because he needed money to take care of his son.
He added that Wooley ran into the woods when the reporting party caught them on
the property.
Police transported Belcher to jail and went to Wooley’s residence in an attempt to
locate the suspected burglar.
When they arrived, the door to the residence was open, but they saw a man they recognized as Wooley run to the door and shut it.
Police entered the residence and placed Wooley under arrest.
They saw several pipes commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. The pipes contained a white residue that field-tested positive for meth.
Wooley admitted that he and Belcher had been on the property to steal the scrap metal.
Wooley is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, attempted larceny and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a
$45,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28, 2014.
Belcher is being charged with attempted larceny. He was released on a $3,500 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 4, 2014.
