Shawnee woman Romanna Bailey Burrow, 27, had a blood alcohol
level of 0.20 when she was arrested
May 31 for a DUI.
Oh yeah — she also tried to flirt
her way out of an arrest. It didn’t
work.
According to the affidavit, a Shawnee police officer was on patrol at
1:29 a.m. when he saw an SUV traveling north approaching Highland.
The vehicle was traveling at a high
rate of speed and stopped abruptly
at the stop sign. The officer followed
the vehicle, and after a traffic violation, he pulled the vehicle over in
the 500 block of W. Wallace.
The driver, identified as Burrow, smelled strongly of alcohol and
she had bloodshot and glassy eyes. When the officer asked her how
much she had had to drink, she told him four beers.
He asked her to exit the vehicle for standard field sobriety tests,
and she agreed. The officer attempted to administer the horizontal
gaze nystagmus, but Burrow couldn’t seem to follow his finger. She
told him, “It’s difficult because you’re so cute.”
The apparently cute officer attempted to administer the walk and
turn test next, but Burrow lost her balance multiple times and almost fell down.
He stopped the tests for her safety and placed her under arrest.
She agreed to take the state’s breath test, and was booked into jail.
Burrow is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under
the influence of alcohol. She was released on a $2,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on August 5, 2014.

A concerned citizen of Six Mile, South Carolina, contacted police after spotting Tracy Nadine Ellenburg erratically drunk-riding a stolen stallion down the middle
of Main Street (the citizen’s ability to distinguish between
drunken and sober horseback riding should have been
immediately commended). Ellenburg had parked her
horse before police arrived, but the officer on scene was
able to locate it anyway, because it was the only horse
tied to a bench outside a convenience store. The officer
confronted Ellenburg, who stank of alcohol, swayed and
slurred her defiant insistence that she was sober, which
you may recognize as a level of drunkenness so spectacular that people mimic it when they are pretending to
be drunk. Regardless, not only did Ellenburg deny any
wrongdoing, she actually blamed the horse, which, if you
remember from before, was stolen. She declared that the
horse was drunk, not her, and therefore the horse was at
fault for the erratic riding. The police, not appreciating
having witnessed one of the seven wonders of the drunken excuse world, cited Ellenburg for disorderly conduct.
A woman in St. Paul, Minnesota, was tucking her children into bed when she heard a noise somewhere in her
house. Going downstairs to investigate, she spotted a
man and a woman running full-tilt out the back door.
The woman chased after the intruders and found them
loading bags of her stuff onto their bicycles. They were
thwarted hilariously when a neighbor blocked them in
with his car and called the police. The thieves, Charles
and Pernella Bull, had attempted to make off with a laptop, a desktop computer, a toolbox, the woman’s purse
and a few other odds and ends. On their bicycles. We cannot stress this enough. When questioned, Mrs. Bull said
that a friend had told her that the address was listed as a
“free house” on Craigslist, which meant that the owners
were moving out in a hurry, so anyone was free to just
show up and take whatever they wanted. Mrs. Bull said
she had called out to ask if anyone was there when she
walked into the house (you know, the house with all the
lights on and a purse sitting on the counter), but when
no one answered, she figured it was vacant and starting
loading up the bicycles. The police weren’t able to find
the alleged “free house” listing on Craigslist, most likely
because at no point in the course of human history had it
ever existed, so the Bulls were arrested.
As Lee Solarski was tooling along one day, he crashed
his car into both a mailbox and a pickup truck, as one
does. Being a responsible citizen, he immediately drove
away, not realizing that a witness had written down
his license plate number. When the police tracked him
down, Solarski explained that he’d crashed because his
passenger had a tarantula in the car with them. The tarantula had gotten loose and was biting Solarski, causing
him to lose control of the car during the attack. To his
credit, we admit a rampaging tarantula would be enough
of a reason to crash anything. The police searched the
car but didn’t find the offending spider, which we figure
came as a relief to whichever officer drew search-the-carfor-a-secret-tarantula duty. After a similarly thorough
search of Solarski failed to produce any spider bites, he
was arrested.

DISTURBING THE PEACE
A Shawnee man was arrested after he became angry and
allegedly attacked his girlfriend when he couldn’t permanently tattoo people while intoxicated.
The reason people were willing to get tattooed by a drunk
man is unknown.
According to the affidavit, Shawnee police were dispatched
to the 200 block of North Harrison June 7 due to a domestic
assault in progress. On the way there, an officer was advised
that the suspect, 30-year-old Bruce Alan Pulver, had left the
residence and was walking north. When the officer spotted
Pulver, the man was standing in the street, yelling and “acting in an aggressive manner” toward another officer.
Pulver smelled like alcohol, and was rambling and slurring his speech. Police placed him in the patrol vehicle and
spoke to the victim.
Pulver’s girlfriend told police that Pulver was planning on giving tattoos to friends, but he
needed another chair. When she observed that he was intoxicated, he allegedly told her, “I’m
doing their tattoos tonight, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
There were children playing video games in the living room, and Pulver told his girlfriend to
“push one of the kids out of a chair” because “they don’t even need f------ chairs!”
The couple started arguing since he was cussing and yelling at the kids. The victim said the
altercation became physical, and he grabbed her by the ears and tore out her earrings. He also
allegedly slammed her face into a wall, and threatened to kill her and hurt a child because the
child called 911.
Police transported Pulver to jail.
For the people that were waiting to get a tattoo done by this drunken tattooist — you’re welcome.
Pulver is being charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation and public intoxication. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, 2014.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
16 | august 2014
What you’re saying
about this on...
Cheryle B: Karma for ya
Jennifer B: Good
Billy G: He didn’t die slowly
enough, or screaming.
Tarah Rae L: The definition of
karma
Joseph N: Good riddance. Only
way it could have gone any better
is if the car caught on fire with him
trapped inside and still alive. I’m
sure he will have plenty of burns
where he is now.
Kristina J: It never said he did it
he is jst a suspect
Kelly D: According to this, they
have evidence against him..
Wayne S: Kristina the news says
he was linked by his DNA.... All of it
is a sad bag of mess.
Kristina J: Still says suspect in
this article. I’m not saying he didn’t
do it. I’m jst saying sme people are
to quick to judge
Brandi W: Hope he suffered just
like all the ppl he has hurt.. Bet he Is
enjoying hell bout now
Bill F: If he is guilty like they say
the DNA evidence proves, at least
all those poor ladies won’t have to
go through the additional trauma of
having to testify at his trial and the
tax payers won’t have to pay for his
incarceration the rest of his life.
Frank H: Good!!!! what a POS!!
Eddy C: No loss to the community.
LittleWeasel W: DNA still don’t
prove nothing now a days. There are
still a lot of people locked up cause
DNA said they did it, yet they really
didn’t do it. So you can’t go off of
DNA any more.
Christy C: then what should we
do when someone commits crimes
like this? Wait until someone confesses? DNA proves everything
these days. It would be hard to explain why your dna is in a couple
of womans ass when it shouldnt be
if you are claiming to be innocent.
Witnesses get confused and are not
always reliable. DNA doesn’t get
confused or feel any emotion for one
party or another.
Trish M: Still think he’s just a
scapegoat.
Bai P: I mean I may be wrong, but
if that is right how did they get the
DNA processed that quickly?
Kristi D: He looks nothing like
the sketch they drew from the witness descriptions
Jay D: dna
Mckinley K: His DNA does not
lie Recovered in his car and apartment things that he took from the
women His hoodie was found also
This man was very evil what he did
to the poor victims He was a suspect
even though he was brain dead because the evidence and DNA done
with a swab He is gone now so time
to move on I am convinced he did
all Now he must face his maker He
wanted to die because he knew they
were crashing in on him so believe
he did the wreck on purpose
Tulsa Police say serial rape suspect Desmond
Campbell is dead
Campbell had been in intensive care since being
badly hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 44
early on the morning of Sunday, June 29, 2014.
The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office had
called a news conference about the case for 2 p.m.
July 8, but that was before news of Campbell’s death
broke.
Documents released detailed the evidence Tulsa
Police had against Campbell.
The documents also contained details of the attacks which the victims gave police.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Campbell wrecked a car just
before 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Troopers said he hit a large sign
post near Sheridan and listed the possible cause as sleepiness. The wreck
happened just minutes after the last sexual assault police have attributed to
Campbell.

Recent Arrests For Okfuskee County
An Oklahoma City man driving recklessly in Maysville was arrested on June 16 for a DUI
after police saw him doing donuts in a parking lot and entering a liquor store without a shirt
on.
According to the affidavit, a Maysville officer was on patrol when he saw a vehicle leave a
parking lot in a cloud of dust. The officer followed the vehicle, and it stopped at a nearby liquor
store. A man with no shirt on and a passenger jumped out of the vehicle and went inside.
While waiting for the men to exit the store, the officer was advised of a report of a reckless
driver that matched the vehicle he was watching.
When the men came out of the liquor store, the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over,
but the driver had other ideas. A pursuit ensued, until the driver pulled in a driveway in the
900 block of Mays Street. He took off running, but seemed unable to run in a straight line. He also kept putting his
hand into his pocket as though he was trying to pull something out.
The officer caught up with him and took the driver, identified as Christopher Max Norman, 22, to the patrol car
and patted him down. He found a bag containing a green leafy substance that field-tested positive for marijuana.
In the vehicle, the officer found a marijuana joint, an opened bottle of whiskey, two more bottle of whiskey and an
open can of beer.
On Norman’s license, it specified that Norman had to have an ignition interlock system to be able to drive. The
vehicle he was driving didn’t, which rendered his license suspended.
The passenger told the officer he and Norman had been drinking quite a bit before they went to the liquor store
and got more liquor. He said he didn’t have anything to do with Norman trying to run from police, and when
Norman saw the officer he told him, “We’re about to go to jail; hang on.”
Norman refused to do any sobriety tests, and he became belligerent and started yelling once they were inside
the jail.
Norman is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, eluding/attempting to elude
police officer, transporting an open bottle or container of liquor and driving with license suspended. He was
released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 25, 2014.

After three long years of waiting, the families
of Skyla Whitaker, Taylor Paschal-Placker, and
Ashley Taylor will have their day in court.
Kevin Sweat’s murder trial is set for Aug. 4
and an Okfuskee County judge said there will
be no further delays allowed.
Sweat is accused of shooting two young girls
outside of Weleetka in 2008. He will also be on
trial for the death of his former fiancé, Ashley
Taylor.
On July 3, Sweat waived his right to a jury
trial in exchange for the state not seeking the
death penalty. He confessed to the murders on
video back in May and the video will be allowed
as evidence.
Sweat could face life in prison without parole
or life with the possibility of parole.
Sweat goes to trial Aug. 4

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Two Wewoka men found hanging out under a bridge were
arrested after police found drugs and paraphernalia that
their “sister” supposedly left in their vehicle.
On June 12, a Seminole County deputy was on patrol when
he saw a car that appeared to be abandoned sitting off the
road south of EW 127 on NS 361, according to the affidavit.
The deputy pulled up to the vehicle and announced him presence. Two men walked up to the vehicle from under a bridge.
The deputy asked them for identification, and they were
identified as 22-year-old Coty Dewayne McSperitt and
19-year-old Kyle Richard Julian.
Julian said he was the owner of the vehicle. While speaking
to the deputy, he began breathing heavily and started patting
his chest. When the deputy asked him if he was OK, Julian
said he had a heart condition. The deputy advised him to
calm down because he didn’t intend to arrest him.
Intend being the key word.
He asked if there was anything in the vehicle he should
know about. Julian told the deputy there wasn’t anything illegal in the vehicle, and he gave him permission to search.
In the vehicle, the deputy found a bag containing a set of
digital scales, a baggie of a white crystal substance, a baggie
of a green leafy substance and a glass pipe.
When he asked the men about the items, they told him
that their sister had driven the vehicle. They said they knew
they should have gotten rid of the illegal stuff, but they didn’t
want to make their sister mad.
The deputy placed the men under arrest, and they were
transported to jail.
Julian is being charged with two counts of possession of
controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of
drug paraphernalia.
McSperitt is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both released on $7,500
bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on August 7, 2014.

It’s hard to believe that this is
the 37th installment of Tips From
a Trooper! The 4th of July holiday always makes me thankful for
our service men and women, who fight for the freedoms we enjoy
in the greatest country on Earth!. On that note, I thought I would
just give some thoughts about the people who are out there serving
the public.
First of all, please thank a veteran. If you see one, just go up,
shake their hand, and thank them for their service. Regardless of
politics, those men and women did and still do sacrifice a lot for
their country, and each and every one of us. They didn’t ask to be
sent to war, they didn’t get to pick or chose which war they were
sent to fight in, but they did their duty. They deserve our respect.
Next, lets move on to the men and women who are serving the
public on a daily basis. Emergency first responders are by and
large some of the finest men and women there are. None of us
got into our professions to get rich, we are here because it was a
calling. That calling may have been law enforcement, firefighter,
EMT, Paramedic, dispatcher, or any of the numerous medical
fields. All of these people are driven by the need to serve, to help,
to do their part in making the world a better place. In exchange
for the privilege to serve, we are rewarded with long days, call
outs in the middle of the night, a ton of interrupted meals, and
the real possibility of missing some of our family’s very important
events. This is not a gripe, this is reality for us. To be quite honest,
we wouldn’t have it any other way!
We also get lumped in with the bad apples when one of our
profession makes the media in a bad way. Please remember that the
media only runs the sensational news. “Trooper Changes Flat Tire
for Elderly Couple” or “Fire Department holds free Child Restraint
Inspections” are not ever going to make it into the news, although
it happens every day. I make no excuses for the men and women in
our profession who do make the news in a bad way, they made their
choices, and there are some bad apples in every profession. Please
remember that, and know that the 99% of us that are doing the
right thing every day, are just as upset about those headlines as you
are, and don’t want or deserve to be lumped in with them.
For my part, I would like to thank each and every one of the men
and women who I work with on crash scenes, DUI arrests, agency
assists, and all the other calls we go on every day. It is my privilege
to not only get to serve the public, but to work with each and every
one of you! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Two Wewoka men are facing serious charges after they ran from
the scene of a serious collision that sent two people to the hospital
on June 29.
Hunter Lunsford, 19, the driver, and Prentiss Perry, 20, a passenger, were arrested shortly after the incident. Lunsford was charged
with one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident involving
injury, and Perry was charged with one felony count of accessory to
leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.
According to the probable cause affidavit, police were called to
the scene of a collision on Kingsberry Road at the Spaulding Road
Apartments. When they arrived, they saw two mangled vehicles, a
black car in a ditch and a silver truck smashed into a tree. An injured passenger was still in the car and the driver had been ejected
about 30 yards away from his car and was unresponsive. EMS arrived shortly thereafter and both victims were medi-flighted to hospitals in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
According to witnesses, after the crash, two people fled the scene
through Tyson Field and heard a female yelling that it was a DUI
wreck and they better get out of there.
Bond was set at $150,000 for Lunsford and he was ordered back
to court for his preliminary conference on July 29.
Perry’s bond was set at $7500.

John 10:10: “The thief cometh not, but
for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I
am come that they might have light, and
that they might have it more abundantly.”
The thief Jesus is referring to in this
scripture is Satan himself. The Lord
contrasts the work of the devil as stealing,
killing, and destroying, while the work
of the Lord is to bring abundant life to
His people. Notice that the thief doesn’t
stop at one sin of stealing, but rather
progresses on to kill and destroy.
Many people do not realize that what
they think as just taking seemingly little things can lead to taking bigger
things and ultimately one becomes a thief. The “little fox” of stealing
towels from the motel, shoplifting small items, keeping things that do not
belong to them, can lead to a dangerous pattern which could eventually
lead to one being imprisoned for theft.
Shoplifting alone costs our businesses enormous amounts of money
which causes to have to pay higher prices for goods. When a nation stoops
to thievery in any form, it hurts all the people.
in recent news articles, we have seen how thievery on the national level
has jeopardized the safety of our whole country because of people stealing
our national secrets and selling them to our potential enemies. We pray
for this element of sin in our society to be removed.
We, as Christians, know this can only happen through the Lord changing
men’s hearts and giving them power over sin in their lives. We pray for
revival in our nation so that honor and honesty will prevail in our national
life.
We must also check our own lives to see if we are failing God by yielding
to stealing and cheating.

IMPROPER TURN vpo POSS OF CDS DUI expired license DUS BURGLARY - 2nd degree
Police arrested an Ada man on June
16 because the man allegedly beat the
heck out of his employer’s truck.
On June 16, a Pontotoc County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to an Ada
trailer park due to an act of vandalism,
the affidavit states. The caller told dispatch that Johnny Darrell Elrod, 26,
had broken the taillight of his truck. The
officer was advised that Elrod was chasing the victim’s vehicle on foot through
the trailer park.
A quick check also revealed that Elrod
had a warrant through Pontotoc County.
When police arrived, they searched the trailer park for Elrod, and
a deputy located him and placed him under arrest.
The victim showed police his truck: all of the windows were busted
out, the windshield had holes in it, the back glass was shattered, the
tires were flat, the headlights and taillights were busted, there were
fresh dents all over the truck, and the tailgate was off of the hinges
and hanging by the cords. In the backseat of the truck, there was a
piece of metal tubing.
The victim said Elrod was his employee, and he went to Elrod’s
house to get his truck since Elrod hadn’t been showing up for work.
When he told Elrod he was there to get his truck, Elrod became angry and allegedly started threatening the victim. When he went to
his truck to leave, Elrod started chasing him and punched the taillight.
The victim was able to get away from Elrod for a little while, but
a short time later, he said Elrod came running toward his truck and
started chasing him again.
The arresting officer found a pocket knife in Elrod’s pocket with
a black residue, which was possibly used to slash the truck’s tires.
Elrod is being charged with malicious injury to property over
$1,000. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on August 6, 2014.
