A Shawnee man, who became enraged about some text messages, allegedly chased his girlfriend around the
home and stabbed her air mattress with
a knife.
Victor Shane Lowe, 44, was arrested
January 25 for suspicion of domestic
abuse after his girlfriend told police he
attacked her.
According to the affidavit, Shawnee
police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of N.
Washington for a domestic disturbance shortly after 7 p.m.
Dispatch advised a man had a knife. When an officer arrived,
he noticed that there was a car in the garage with a busted
out driver’s side window.
A woman at the residence told him that Lowe had found
text messages to her from her ex-boyfriend and they had
been fighting about it for a few days. She said she had been
sleeping on the air mattress for the last couple nights.
The woman said earlier that day, Lowe walked in their
home, drunk and “very angry.” She said he started yelling
at her. He then grabbed a knife and started stabbing the air
mattress. The woman said she tried to leave, but Lowe started pushing and shoving her. She made it to her car, but then
Lowe punched in her window.
The victim had several fresh injuries on her face and wrist.
The angry man was arrested and transported to jail.
Lowe is being charged with domestic abuse assault and
battery. He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on April 2, 2015.

How It Got Started: SAVE was started by students in Charlotte,
North Carolina in 1989 after the tragic death of a classmate who was
trying to break up a fight at an off-campus party. A group of students
who did not want this death to be “just another statistic” took action
and created a violence prevention program.
Chapters: SAVE has evolved into a national association with chapters in elementary, middle and high schools as well as at colleges and
community organizations across the country. Today, there are more
than 200,000 students involved nationwide.
Activities: Student members take the lead in planning chapter
activities by using the three SAVE Essential Elements: conducting
crime prevention activities, conducting conflict management activities and providing meaningful service through projects in schools
and communities. SAVE chapters also plan safety rallies and safety
awareness campaigns, engage in peer mentoring to younger students, and conduct fun and educational meetings.

Recent Arrests For Okfuskee County
A Prague man was taken into custody after he
allegedly attacked his ex-wife after they agreed to
be nice to each other.
Dakota Harris, 24, was charged Feb. 5 with burglary in the first degree, assault with a dangerous
weapon, and domestic abuse- assault and battery,
in Okfuskee County District Court.
He was also charged the same day with two
counts of malicious injury to property- over $1000,
assault with a dangerous weapon, and arson, third
degree, for incidents that happened back in January.
According to court records, a Okfuskee County
deputy was called to a home in Paden on Feb. 3 in
reference to a woman whose ex-husband had just attacked her. When the deputy arrived, she met with the victim who said her ex, Harris, had called her earlier that day
and wanted to bring some items to her. She told Harris that she didn’t need the items
and to not come to her house, but at around 8 pm, Harris showed up at her house.
The victim continued by saying she told Harris that he was not welcome and he
needed to leave. He then allegedly went into her house without her permission and
started yelling at her. He then pulled out a knife and pointed it at her. She said she
began yelling loudly so the neighbor could hear her so they would call the sheriff’s
department. Harris then put his hand over her mouth and grabbed her face. She said
he busted the inside of her lip, and when she started crying, he left.
The victim told the deputy that she was afraid of Harris and that she had not filed a
protective order against Harris because she wanted to be nice. The deputy advised the
victim to stop being nice and get a protective order.
Back in January, Harris had allegedly ran the victim off the road with his vehicle,
damaged her vehicle by beating on it, and burned her clothes in her own yard according to court records.
Bond for Harris was set at $100,000 and he was ordered back to court on March 12.

A 37-year-old Konawa man, Eugene Harjo, Jr.,
who got mad at his girlfriend and left their home
in a coat and underwear, was arrested when police
found him peeing behind a relative’s garage.
According to the affidavit, a Seminole deputy was
dispatched to a residence on EW1400 at approximately 3 a.m. on February 8 due to a stolen vehicle.
When he arrived, he was met by two women. One of
them identified herself as Harjo’s girlfriend, and she
told the deputy Harjo had been drinking all day and
passed out around 7 p.m., so she went to a friend’s
house. When she got back home, Harjo was angry
and told her she was to be home when he woke up.
She said Harjo became aggressive and started pushing her and demanding the
keys to her truck. The woman said she was scared, so she handed over the keys
so he would stop pushing her.
Harjo left the residence wearing only a pair of underwear and a jacket.
Police were unable to immediately locate Harjo, but they returned to the residence later that day. Harjo’s girlfriend said she still hadn’t seen or heard from
him.
While searching for Harjo, police went to a residence on NS3550, where they
were met by Terence Harjo, 30, in the front yard. They asked him if he had seen
Harjo; he said no.
While they were speaking, an officer saw something move through a window.
He then heard what sounded like a motor revving up behind the residence.
Terence Harjo insisted that he was the only person there, but just then, the
front door opened up and Eugene Harjo exited, walked behind the garage while
ignoring police commands, and started peeing.
When he was finished, police placed the men under arrest and took them to
jail.
Terence Harjo is being charged with harboring a fugitive from justice and obstructing an officer. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
Eugene Harjo is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, domestic
assault and battery in presence of a minor and obstructing officer. His bond was
set at $10,000. They are both scheduled to appear in court on March 5, 2015.

An Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed a pickup truck
make an unsafe lane change in the
northbound lane of I-35 near N.E.
122nd Street. The deputy stopped
the vehicle and spoke with the driver,
46-year old Rafael Armando Rocha,
of Rowland Heights, California.
While speaking with Rocha he gave
the deputy permission to search his
truck. On the rear passenger side the
deputy noticed a black suitcase, and
inside the suitcase the deputy found 25-kilos of cocaine (55lbs).
Rocha was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of Trafficking
cocaine base
On February 16, 2015 Rocha posted bond of $25,000.00, and has been released
from jail.

Milburn man Michael Lee Hesbrook, 40, was
arrested February 8 after he allegedly stole from
people’s vehicles and homes and handed out the
items like presents.
On February 7 shortly after 6 a.m., an Ada police officer was dispatched to the 300 block of E.
13th Street in response to an attempted burglary.
A man told him that someone had tried to break
into his apartment.
The officer made contact with a couple who told
him Hesbrook had come to their home a few times
with items he left there. They agreed to let officer
look in their house.
Police found various items they said Hesbrook
had left there, including a center console with insurance information on it. The address on the info
was across the street. They made contact with a woman, who told them that her
van had been broken into. She said the items police found across the street belonged to her.
The couple told the officer Hesbrook sometimes went to a nearby residence,
claiming his girlfriend lived there.
The woman at that residence told police Hesbrook had brought her some gifts,
but she later found out the items belonged to her friend and Hesbrook had taken
them from her apartment.
She said she let Hesbrook borrow her phone to call his mother earlier that
morning, and she overheard him say that he had broken into several places.
On February 8, the officer responded to the 300 block of E. 13th Street due
to an “intoxicated individual causing a commotion.” The man was identified as
Hesbrook.
Hesbrook denied taking items to the people’s apartments. During the conversation, he was also “very jerky” and could not sit still. Hesbrook was very confrontational with police, and he kept falling over.
An officer placed him under arrest. He agreed to speak to police, but he continued to deny that he had taken items from the apartment.
When an officer tried to place Hesbrook in the patrol car, the man started kicking at officers.
The next day, the officer tried to speak to Hesbrook again about the burglary,
but Hesbrook said he was just being set ip by people who don’t like him.
Hesbrook is being charged with burglary in the second degree and knowingly
concealing stolen property.

With this most recent ice
and snow storm that gripped
Oklahoma, there obviously were
some significant obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed,
that doesn’t really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is
obstructed by iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m
going to touch on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about
it, and give some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to
go out 10 minutes before you leave, start your car up, and get the
defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good to go.
Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical de-icing
sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!
