Tramble
Police busted a Tecumseh man on
multiple drug charges after serving
an arrest warrant for utilities tampering March 20.
Officer Adam Good, accompanied
by three other officers, went to serve
the arrest warrant to Mark Tramble,
34. When another officer knocked
on the front door of his home at the
Pecan Village Trailer Park, he became immediately overwhelmed by
the smell of burnt marijuana coming
from inside.
When Tramble answered the door,
he admitted smoking marijuana soon before their arrival. He
had a small amount left in his ashtray, Tramble said.
Once police went inside and saw a child in the living room,
they decided to get a search warrant to look for more drugs.
Once that was signed, they found the ashtray with a partly
burned marijuana cigarette, according to the affidavit.
Also, they found a cigar box with eight individually packaged
tied bags of marijuana, a silver grinder, a digital scale, four
burned cigarettes, two packages of Swisher Sweet blueberry
flavored cigars and a pink shot glass. Worse still, the officers
found a letter from child support enforcement in one of the
bedrooms.
In an interview, Tramble took responsibility for all the drugs
and paraphernalia, saying he smoked when he woke up that
morning. He said he didn’t smoke around his child, but every
two weeks he and his family will gather some money so he can
go buy from his dealer in Lawton. Once he does that, he splits
the purchase between them. Tramble had nearly two grams at
the time of his arrest, according to a voluntary statement.
Tramble faces drug possession, drug paraphernalia and child
neglect charges. He posted a $10,000 bond and has court set
for 9 a.m. May 7.

Mitchell
A Shawnee woman’s methamphetamine-fueled rage landed her in jail for
a felony complaint March 17.
Around 9:20 p.m. that day, Tecumseh officer Trey Baker went to the
18700 block of North 13th Street after he received a call about a disturbance, where a woman was in the driveway yelling, screaming and repeatedly honking the horn. Baker arrived to see the woman drive away in a
white Pontiac.
Baker saw the driver hit the curb while turning west, so he initiated a stop
and contacted the woman, Amber Mitchell, 30. Baker noticed she had constricted pupils and was talking too fast, so he started to ask some questions.
Mitchell kept telling Baker people were following her, which led to Baker asking Mitchell to
perform field sobriety tests. Mitchell couldn’t successfully complete the walk and turn test or the
one leg stand test, so she was arrested on a DUI complaint, Baker wrote in his affidavit.
Once she was detained, Baker started looking around the Pontiac and found a used syringe
with methamphetamine residue. A field test at the jail confirmed the drug’s existence, Baker
said.
Mitchell agreed to a blood test before being booked at the Pottawatomie County Jail, records
show.
Mitchell posted a $5,000 bond March 23. She faces charges of possession of a controlled
substance, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. For the
methamphetamine-related charge, she faces between two to 10 years in the state prison system.
She is due back in court at 1:30 p.m. April 30.

Answer: The first thing to
understand in this discussion
is that there is only one race—
the human race. Caucasians,

races. Rather, they are different
ethnicities of the human race.
All human beings have the same
physical characteristics (with
minor variations, of course).
More importantly, all human
beings are created in the image
and likeness of God (Genesis
1:26-27). God loved the world so
much that He sent Jesus to lay
down His life for us (John 3:16).
The “world” obviously includes all ethnic groups.
God does not show partiality or favoritism (Deuteronomy 10:17; Acts 10:34;
Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9), and neither should we. James 2:4 describes
those who discriminate as “judges with evil thoughts.” Instead, we are to love
our neighbors as ourselves (James 2:8). All forms of racism, prejudice, and
discrimination are affronts to the work of Christ on the cross.
Jesus commands us to love one another as He loves us (John 13:34). If God is
impartial and loves us with impartiality, then we need to love others with that
same high standard. Jesus teaches in Matthew 25 that whatever we do to the
least of His brothers, we do to Him. If we treat a person with contempt, we are
mistreating a person created in God’s image; we are hurting somebody whom
God loves and for whom Jesus died.
Racism, in varying forms and to various degrees, has been a plague on humanity
for thousands of years. Brothers and sisters of all ethnicities, this should not be.
Victims of racism, prejudice, and discrimination need to forgive. Ephesians 4:32
declares, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just
as in Christ God forgave you.” Racists may not deserve your forgiveness, but we
deserved God’s forgiveness far less.
What does the Bible say about racism,
prejudice, and discrimination?

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Ever think to yourself, “what an
amazing time we live in?”
Technology is so incredible, that
we take for granted stuff that wasn’t even possible 40 or 50 years
ago. Whether its cell phones, GPS systems, instant information
through the internet or high tech cars, we go through this world with
a wide array of things that make our lives easier. But what happens
when something goes wrong? I’m going to talk about things that
can go wrong, that may leave you on the side of the road, and ways
you can help yourself in these situations.
Its hard to believe that people still run out of gas these days.
Incredibly, it still happens on an almost daily basis. Sometimes, it
is the result of just not paying attention, and sometimes it is the
result of trusting a little too much in the technology that is built into
our automobiles today. All Troopers have heard from a stranded
motorist that their vehicle said they still had 20 more miles until
empty. The fact is, that number is usually generated by past driving
behavior and gas mileage averages, and is not an actual measure
of how much gas is left in the automobile. Do yourself a favor and
give a cushion...start looking to fill up any time you are under a 1/4
tank of fuel. Also, pay attention to the gas gauge. In the event that
you do run out of gas, be prepared! No matter how high tech your
vehicle is today, its just a big hunk of metal if it runs out of gas!
You may want to carry a small gas can. You certainly want to get
your vehicle off of the roadway to prevent it from being a traffic
hazard and putting yourself and others in danger. If you walk to a
gas station, be alert for traffic. *55 will get you in touch with a local
Highway Patrol Headquarters, but the Trooper may be a long way
off, or on a
call, so be prepared to help yourself! Another common problem
we run into is people who need their vehicle jump-started. You
may forget to turn the lights off and park it somewhere, or leave an
interior light on, or anything that may drain the battery.
Carry a set of jumper cables. If you have those, all you’ll need
is another person whose vehicle is running, and you can get yours
going! Make sure to refer to the owner’s manual to make sure how
to hook up the cables properly. As high tech as vehicles are today,
hooking them up wrong could result in further problems!
Ever hear that old saying about and “ounce of prevention”? Keep
up the maintenance on your vehicle. The owner’s manual usually
has a maintenance schedule for your specific vehicle. Old sayings
usually are old because they are tried and true! Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!

What you’re saying
about this on...
Winnie B: The officials must be planning
to run for government office. None others
are as stupid!!!
Haley A: So was he supposed to let the
bear attack him then call for help granted he
should’ve called the wild life people first but
really people he’s 76 like this man means
any harm
Becca W: ridiculous! so the make my day
law protects us from human attack but we
can’t defend ourselves against rampaging
beasts?! wtf!
Kelli O: Crazy!
Elissa T: This is ridiculous-that man was
well within his right to protect himself on
his own property-what the hell is that state
thinking-if i were the officials involved in
that state in this case id be so ASHAMED-so
glad I’m an Okie-that crap wouldn’t happen
hereDarla B: OMG!!!
Brandy M: OMG poor old guy
Margaret T: thats crazy leave the man
alone he was in the right!!!!
Tasha T: So now we aren’t even
allowed to defend ourselves with getting
arrested???????
Evan W: THATS BULLS**T!!!!!
Ashley N: Omg its a freaking bear... Lol
who cares... ugh...nice going America...
yea... lets choose obama.... one more time...
ugh idiots!
Melvin M: Hell saved his Own Life !!
Kevin C: Thats what they get for electing
the liberal idiots is all i can say
Shawna A: Wow just shows how
(beeped) up the government is and let’s
start making BIRD feeder illegal because
it leads to shooting wild animals that are
chasing you in trying to kill you makes me
think would the bear be in jail if he had
killed the man????
Sherida E: Omgoodness how crazy he
was protecting hisself.
Amber V: Ridiculous
Michele H: Everyone that lives around
bears knows that birdseed is NOT OK! That
is their favorite food. I guess if you have
never lived with them this may sound stupid.
But I have and this guy sounds stupid to me!
Of course the guy knew. So, yes, it is called
baiting. He is in the bears habitat and has to
take precautions!
John F: That’s is the dumbest thing I have
heard I would have done the same thing
Peewee M: Need to shoot some idiots
with some common sense. Meat is baiting
to. Don’t cook on your grill there. You are
just trying to kill a bear. Damn idiot
John F: He was in his YARD NOT IN THE
BEARS HABITAT 90% of all animal attacks
r done around homes look it up my has bird
feeders so she can watch birds not bears
Brandi M: I never knew bears like BIRD
seed, that ridiculous. The bear could have
had rabies and was attacking him. I’m
an animal person but if it was after me or
my familly id have shot it also. If he really
wanted to kill it he would have put poison
in his “bait”.
Kyle T: He walked out knowing the bear
was there, brought a shotgun, he intended
to kill it the whole time. I like how this story
makes him out to be the victim.
A 76-year-old Auburn, Massachusetts man, Richard Ahlstrand,
had spotted a black bear in his backyard around his bird feeders.
He went to fill up his bird feeders, and as a precaution, he took
his shotgun. Sure enough, the black bear showed up and started
to chase the old man. The man aimed his shotgun at the bear
and shot it, killing the bear.
Now he’s facing charges for illegally killing the bear, illegally
baiting the bear, illegal possession of a firearm and failure to
secure a weapon. Because he “murdered” the bear, police confiscated his shotgun as well as
two others he had in his possession. Ahlstrand pointed out the idiocy of his elected officials:
“They got me set up now like I’m some kind of murderer. And then the environmental guy
told me, ‘You should have called me instead of shooting it.’ What was I going to do, say ‘Mister
Bear, would you excuse me please while I go make a phone call?’”
Authorities thought that the bear may have had cubs, but as Ahlstrand hadn’t shot the bear,
he may not be here today. He was sure it would have at least mauled him. Ahlstrand recalled
that the bear was about 7 feet tall when it stood on its hind legs, and he estimated it weighed
around 300 or 400 pounds.
Officials say the man “baited” the bear with birdseed... Because we all know that bird seed is
only used to bait bears.

OBSTRUCTING OFFICER
A Seminole man was taken into custody and two are still on the run after
they robbed a convenient store of some
of its beer.
Adam Eversole, 22, was arrested and
charged with first-degree robbery. Warrants for Cory Nedd, 23, and Simon
Harjo, Jr. have been issued for their arrests.
Officer Brandon Bowen responded to
a call March 27 about a robbery at Richard’s Quick Stop. The night employee
reported to her boss that she had beer
stolen from the store overnight. When Bowen arrived, one of the suspects, Nedd, was at the
store and taken into custody.
Bowen watched the store’s video and saw Eversole enter the store and talk to the clerk.
Nedd then entered, went to the beer cooler, took two 18-packs, and then left. Eversole followed Nedd out. The clerk was on her way out to see who stole the beer, but Harjo then entered and blocked her from going out. Eversole came back inside and also helped stop her.
The clerk told Bowen that Harjo and Eversole said they didn’t know Nedd. Harjo tried to
bribe her not to call police and even bought a four-pack of beer.
The video also showed all three men outside talking with each other before the heist.

STOLEN PROPERTY
Two people were taken into custody after an officer found meth and marijuana
inside their truck during a routine traffic
stop.
Jason Dorrough, 27, and Angel Welch,
42, both of Seminole, were charged April
16 with possession of CDS within 1000 feet
of a school/park and possession of CDS.
An charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was added onto Welch’s charges.
Seminole Police Officer David Hanson
was on routine patrol when he noticed a
truck being driven by Dorrough. He knew
from previous contact that Dorrough had a
suspended driver’s license and was a meth
user, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Dorrough tried to hide his face from
Hanson as they passed each other, but to
no avail. Hanson turned his car around
and activated his emergency lights. He
could see Dorrough shuffling around inside the cab as if trying to hide something.
When Dorrough finally pulled over, they
were at John’s Park.
Dorrough admitted his license was still suspended and the reason
he was fidgeting in the cab was because he was eating chips. Dorrough’s passenger, Welch, said she knew nothing.
Hanson asked both to get out of the truck so he could do a search.
Underneath a cup holder in front of the gear shift he found a black
purse-like bag. Suddenly, Welch said she wanted to talk and told
Hanson there were “loaded pins” inside the bag. Sure enough, he
found eight syringes full of liquid, later determined to be meth. He
also found marijuana and a damp cotton ball that tested positive for
meth.
Dorrough and Welch were transported to the Seminole County
Jail and booked.
The chips are down

Treva Cannon was found dead in
her white frame house on Tuesday,
August 23, 1983. Investigation
determined she had been struck
with a blunt object, killing her.
Carter County District Attorney
Ron Worthen, and Oklahoma State
Bureau of Investigation (OSBI)
agent and Ardmore police were at
the scene late Tuesday morning
waiting for an OSBI lab team from
Oklahoma City.
“We don’t really have a lot right
now. We haven’t touched anything waiting on the lab team,” Worthen
said late that morning at the scene.
Shirley Stinson, a neighbor, said she heard a “banging noise” around 1
a.m. and got out of bed to check.
“My son had just gotten home from work and was writing a letter to his
girlfriend. So I didn’t think much about it,” the neighbor said.
Brenda Sparlin, a neighbor, said, “She usually leaves for work at 7:30
a.m. but her car was still there..... I tried to call twice before I went over
there. I knocked and she didn’t answer. The front door was open and
when I walked to the back the back door was open. I saw her in the front
bedroom.”
Ms. Cannon was a social worker for the Department of Human Services
at the Pauls Valley State School. She formerly taught at Springer junior
and senior high schools, and Ardmore Junior High School. Mrs. Cannon
received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech
University and a master’s in education from East Texas State Teacher’s
College. She also received a master’s degree in social work from the
University of Oklahoma. She was a resident of Ardmore area for 21 years.
Ms. Cannon’s murderer has never been found.

Members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives today unanimously approved a bill
targeting welfare fraud in Oklahoma.
Senate Bill 456, by state Sen. Josh Brecheen
and state Rep. Arthur Hulbert, is designed to
help reduce fraud in Oklahoma by requiring
every county office of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services to post information
on how people can report fraud through a tollfree hotline and that they can do so anonymously.
“Fraud by anyone is a lie that costs our state
money and diverts funds away from those that
truly need it,” said Hulbert, R-Fort Gibson. “I
enjoyed working with Senator Josh Brecheen
on this legislation and am pleased with the
overwhelming bipartisan support it has received.”
Brecheen encouraged Oklahomans to report fraud to the Oklahoma Department of Human
Services.
“Public assistance fraud costs Oklahoma taxpayers millions of dollars every year. This is an
issue that negatively impacts all Oklahomans but DHS simply doesn’t have the workforce to
constantly check up on the thousands of public assistance recipients in our state. They need
the public’s help by being vigilant in their communities and reporting suspected fraud,” said
Brecheen, R-Coalgate. “As legislators and citizens, it’s our duty to be good stewards of tax
dollars and this bill will help ensure that assistance goes to families who truly qualify and that
funds aren’t allocated through fraudulent means.”
The legislation was developed in consultation with and the support of the DHS Office of
Inspector General. Such signage has been printed and dispensed sporadically before but displaying it has never been a statutory requirement for county DHS offices. The emphasis on
anonymity encourages people to report fraud without fearing for their employment or personal relationships, Brecheen said.
The legislation was approved by a 95-0 vote in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and
previously by a 41-0 vote in the Oklahoma Senate.
It now advances to the desk of Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin.
To report public assistance fraud, call (800) 784-5887.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Blanchard
A Shawnee man with a long criminal past was
once again put behind bars after a Holdenville
officer found “a wad of something” in his pocket.
Nicholas Blanchard, 30, added the charges of
trafficking in illegal drugs, falsely personate another to create liability, and resisting an officer
to his rap sheet April 18.
Holdenville Police Officer Cody Atkins was
called to the area of Main and Walnut early
April 14 on a suspicious person. When Atkins
arrived at the area, he saw a man dressed in
black knocking on someone’s door. He called to the man, later identified as Blanchard, to come to him and talk.
Blanchard was hesitant at first, then complied. Blanchard gave the
officer a false name, and when it didn’t check out, Atkins called for
backup.
Atkins told Blanchard to put his hands on his patrol vehicle so he
could search him for weapons. Atkins felt a “wad of something” in
Blanchard’s front pocket, so he asked what it was. Blanchard told the
officer it was dust. He then decided to come “clean” and told Atkins it
was a baggie he had found on the road.
Not believing him, Atkins took out his cuffs and tried to cuff
Blanchard, but Blanchard took off running. Sgt. Littrell then pulled up
and the chase was on.
Blanchard ran behind The Bottle Shop and jumped into a nearby
creek. Littrell blasted him with pepper spray, but Blanchard took off
running again. Atkins finally caught up with him, and as both men went
to the ground, Blanchard threw his “wad of something” into the creek.
Littrell quickly retrieved it from the water.
After Blanchard was taken to the Holdenville General Hospital on an
ankle pain complaint, he was transported to the Seminole County Jail
for booking. The “wad of something” turned out to be a baggie containing 56.3 grams of meth.
Bond was set at $100,000.

A Weleeka man was arrested shortly after he
was pulled over on a traffic stop.
Tory Simmers, 34, was charged April 11 with
a felony DUI and a misdemeanor carrying
weapons.
According to the police affidavit, Officer
Osceola Powell was on routine patrol just after
dusk April 9th when he noticed a truck, driven
by Powell, traveling on 7th with no tail or tag
lights. He activated his lights, and after several
blocks, the truck finally stopped.
Powell smelled an odor of alcohol on Simmer’s breath, so he administered a field sobriety test. Simmer failed it miserably.
Powell placed Simmer under arrested and
did a pat-down search. In the process, he found an open blade knife in Simmer’s right front pocket.
“What are you doing with an open blade knife?” Powell asked Simmer.
“Because I’m a bad motherf**ker,” Simmer replied.
“What are you going to use it for?” Powell asked.
“I’m gonna use it on any motherf**ker I want to!”
Powell placed the Jules Winnfield wanna-be in the patrol car and transported him to the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Death Row
Roderick Smith
Roderick Lynn Smith was
convicted of killing his wife,
Jennifer Smith, and her four
children, Shameka Nicole
Carter, 10; Glen Edward Carter
Jr., 9; Ladarian J. Carter, 7;
and Kenesha R. Carter, 6, in
1993 in Canadian County.
Convicted in 1994, Smith was
handed fi ve death sentences.
Prosecutors say he killed his
wife during an argument
and then killed the children
because they were witnesses.
Jennifer Smith and her sons
were stabbed; her daughters were strangled.
During the sentencing phase, jurors heard from a former
girlfriend of Roderick Smith’s who was stabbed by him about
30 times in 1986. For that crime, Smith pleaded guilty to
assault and battery and was sentenced to two years in prison.
Defense attorneys say Smith has a brain disorder that
triggers violent episodes.
Smith has been on death row since November 14, 1994.
On May 7, oral arguments will begin before the Oklahoma
Court of Criminal Appeals alleging Smith’s death sentence
should be thrown out because the Oklahoma County jury did
not consider evidence of Smith’s alleged mental retardation.
