DUS DUS APC RESISTING ARREST
Nobody likes a neighbor who doesn’t pick up after their dog.
Case in point: two Maui residents were so upset at finding dog poop in their yard
that they allegedly menaced a neighbor with golf clubs.
The Maui News reports that Aaron Steen, 38, and Candace Deponte, 32, blamed
their neighbor for planting the dog feces in their yard and approached her while hurling
obscenities and wielding golf clubs.
The alleged victim was reportedly appraising damage to her car’s windshield when
Deponte entered the car and then followed the dog owner into her house, further
threatening to harm her. This earned Deponte a charge of first-degree terroristic
threatening, as well as first-degree burglary and first-degree unauthorized entry to a
vehicle — felonies both.
In addition to terroristic threatening, Steen was also charged with third-degree criminal property damage.
The two suspects are now prohibited from contacting the dog owner or going near
her house.
Police in Mt. Morris, New York, apprehended three burglary suspects by following a
trail of macaroni salad they left behind while making their getaway.
In a release, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports thieves broke in and stole
a cash register from Build-A-Burger Restaurant, along with the establishment’s entire
surveillance system and a large bowl of macaroni salad.
Deputies were hot on the criminals’ trail, literally, as they attempted to escape via
the nearby Greenway Trail.
“Found along the trail were cash register parts, surveillance system parts, rubber
gloves, loose change and a steady trail of macaroni salad,” the sheriff’s office said. “It
was later discovered that the suspects stole a large bowl of macaroni salad, which
they took turns eating, along their escape route.”
Officers arrested Matthew P. Sapetko, 34, James P. Marullo, 35, and Timothy S.
Walker Jr., 23, by early afternoon. The three have been charged with third-degree
burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree grand larceny. Walker faces
additional charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance, say police.
Per the Democrat & Chronicle, the three have been booked into the Livingston
County Jail. Most of the stolen property has been recovered.
Here’s a volatile combination: nudity, guns, drugs and pizza.
At least for Phillip Engle, the 27-year-old man who found himself in a not-so-happy
situation at Happy’s Pizza in Muskegon Charter Township, Michigan.
Engle, who lives next door, allegedly showed up at the pizzeria wearing just a towel
with his three young children in tow. According to the police incident report, Engle
was carrying a gun, and he used it to bang on the glass door until it shattered. The
gun then allegedly discharged, and police found a bullet casing lodged in the door’s
metal frame.
Officers who responded to the scene say they found Engle on his porch with a
handgun. He threw the gun in the yard when ordered to drop it. Later he told them
that he had three loaded guns in his home, which they confiscated for safekeeping.
An employee at Happy’s Pizza told an officer from the Muskegon Township Police
Department that when Engle was at the shop, he yelled, “No one will help me,” and
“No one will feed my kids!” He also allegedly said, “I’m trippin’ out!”
Engle reportedly told police that he had earlier consumed four hits of LSD.
One of Engle’s young children told officers that her father had also shot the dashboard of their car because it wouldn’t stop beeping. They found a spent casing on the
dashboard and what appeared to be a bullet hole.
According to Fox 17, Engle’s wife said she took out a personal protection order
from him.
Engle was arraigned on four misdemeanor charges: malicious destruction of property worth $200 to $1,000, careless discharge of a firearm, reckless use of a firearm
and possession of a firearm while under the influence.
You know when you’re in an art gallery and you decide to steal one of the paintings
off the wall and then you can’t find a way to jam it into your sweatshirt because it’s a
painting and large rectangular paintings don’t belong inside sweatshirts? Hate it when
that happens!
Well, this art thief ran into a similar problem. Luckily, the piece was recovered by
gallery staff before the suspect could escape with it. However, the would-be thief is
still on the lam.
Police in the U.K. have released surveillance video in the hopes that viewers will be
able to help locate him.
Probably won’t be difficult, given his general difficulty with the concept of hiding.

On March 25, Joses “Ricky” Rice Beck,
29, was shot by a Johnston County sheriff’s
deputy in Tishomingo when Beck walked
toward officers with a knife in his hand.
The officers commanded Beck to drop
the knife, but Beck refused. A deputy shot
Beck two times when Beck got 4-to-5 feet
from officers. Beck was taken to a Plano
hospital.
Beck was released from the hospital and
taken to the Collin County jail on a warrant
for his arrest on numerous complaints –
one count of burglary, one count of assault
and battery, one count of aggravated assault and battery, and three counts of assault on a police officer.
Officers were called to a Tishomingo apartment complex on March 25
after Beck assaulted a handicapped man and broke into a woman’s apartment.
The Johnston County Sheriff requested OSBI investigate the officer-involved shooting as well as the complaints against Beck. OSBI will soon
deliver a report on the officer-involved shooting to the district attorney. The
DA will determine if the shooting was justified.

Jailbirds.rocks is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the
huge social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

MARKKULA
Seminole woman Danielle R. Markkula, 31,
was arrested for a warrant on March 17. She
was also carrying meth and some needles in
her bag.
According to the police report, a Seminole
officer was on patrol when he saw Markkula
and a man walking westbound on Broadway at approximately 1:20 p.m. He knew the
woman had an active warrant for her arrest
through Seminole County.
After confirming the warrant through dispatch, the officer approached the woman
near Second and Broadway, and told her she
was under arrest for the warrant.
Markkula was carrying a black bag on her
shoulder. When the officer started to place her in handcuffs, she tried to
hand it to her male companion. The officer stopped her and placed her in
handcuffs with the bag still on her shoulder, since he knew from previous
incidents that she used meth. He told her she was probably trying to hand
off the bag because it contained drugs.
Markkula became emotional and told the officer she had a “rig” on her,
which is slang for a hypodermic syringe.
The officer transported the woman to jail.
When they arrived, he searched her bag and found three syringes, a
metal spoon with a crystalline residue, and two small bags. One of the
bags contained a white crystal substance, which tested positive for meth.
Markkula is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set
at $3,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 20, 2017.

OHP TO BEGIN PROFILING MISSING PERSON CASES
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP),
Oklahoma Office of the
Chief Medical Examiner
(OCME) and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System
(NamUs) will begin profiling unidentified person
cases involving collision
drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, spanning the last 44 years.
The goal of highlighting the collision cases where the occupant’s identity
is unknown will be to attempt to identify a living relative and return the unidentified person’s remains back to the family.
“The OHP’s unidentified person cases are occupants or pedestrians
who were killed in vehicle crashes, many of which occurred on interstate
roadways, so the unidentified person is likely from another state,” said
OHP Captain Ronnie Hampton with the Traffic Homicide Program.
A case and its details will be released periodically through news releases
and social media, requesting assistance from the public and the media by
sharing the stories.
The identification of missing and unidentified persons is a significant
problem both in our state and across the nation. NamUs is the National
Institute of Justice’s free online system that provides a national centralized
repository and resource center for missing persons and unidentified decedent records. It can be searched by medical examiners, law enforcement,
and the public from all over the country in hopes of resolving cases.
“Our goal is to bring attention to these valuable resources for Oklahomans who may have friends or relatives who have been missing for
many years, and to reunite family members with their loved one’s remains,”
Hampton said.
There are several ways a person may become missing:
• victims of violent crimes
• lost in wooded areas
• involved in vehicle collisions
• fallen into water and never recovered
• voluntary missing person who died of natural causes with
no form of identity found
If you have a missing friend or relative, you can see if a case was generated by searching www.namus.gov. If you have family members or friends
who have missing loved ones, no matter how old the incident, you can
reach a NamUs representative by email at questions@findthemissing.org
or by phone at 1-855-626-7600.
Hampton said, “We ask for the public’s help in sharing information about
these cases and this valuable tool, and we appreciate your assistance in
contributing to the identification of the future profiled cases.”

An Ada man was locked up after officers found drugs and paraphernalia in his
vehicle during a license and vehicle safety
checkpoint on March 15.
29-year-old Cody Wayne Jackson was
also driving a vehicle that belonged to his
employer.
According to the affidavit, Jackson approached the checkpoint at County Road
3530 and Sandy Creek Drive at approximately 3:45 p.m. A deputy approached the
man’s vehicle and noticed that Jackson appeared to be extremely nervous. His voice
was shaky, he kept taking his sunglasses
on and off, and he kept breaking eye contact with the deputy.
The deputy asked for the man’s driver’s
license.
While he was checking the man’s information through dispatch, he asked
Jackson why he was nervous, and when he last used meth. Jackson admitted to using meth two months before, but he said he hadn’t used it since.
Dispatch advised the deputy that the man had a warrant for his arrest
through the city of Ada. He told the man to step out of his vehicle, and he
placed him under arrest.
Officers conducted an inventory of the man’s vehicle and found a bag
containing a crystal-like substance, a brown wax substance, a syringe, a
bent spoon, tweezers, and other items pertaining to drug use.
Jackson requested that the work vehicle he was driving be released to
his boss.
Jackson is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on April 19, 2017.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear editor:
My story begins in Greenwood, Arkansas, where I met my future wife,
who was from Oklahoma. I have lived in Arkansas all of my life and she
had lived in Oklahoma her entire life, and just by chance we met. She was
a single mother of two little girls and I was the father of three older children
who lived with their mothers.
We dated for some six months and I popped the big question and she
said yes. We made our home back in Arkansas, in my hometown. The girls
were enrolled in school and our new life began.
A month into our marriage my wife was served papers for custody by
her ex-husband who still resided in Leflore County, Oklahoma. We had to
obtain a lawyer, so we sought out who we thought would be the best and
hired them at the cost of $5,000, which to me was ridiculously over inflated
since there was no evidence of any wrong doing by the mother, but we
had no choice in the matter.
My wife had up until our marriage supported herself and her children
without child support and was doing a fine a job of it. The ex-husband
was 40 years old, still lived with his parents, had no job, paid no support
to his children, but from the very beginning we were the ones who had to
prove ourselves. Before we got too far into the case, we were told that
we had to hire a special attorney for the girls at the price of $750. We did
and took the girls on four separate occasions to the attorney and they told
the story of how they did not want to go back to their father’s house or
to live with him. Now our attorney said she was working on our case and
we had nothing to worry about. We had a pretrial hearing and the girls got
to stay with us but they starting refusing to go back to their dad’s, saying
they were scared. These girls were 10 and five at the time, but by the court
order we were told that they had to go.
So, even though the girls screamed and cried, they went to their dad’s.
I was afraid of the girls possibly being molested, so I spoke with our high
priced attorney and was told, “Well, you only have suspicion and until he
commits a crime there is nothing I or the judges will do.”
We told the attorney that we wanted this looked in to, but it never was,
and then we go to court. Instead of a hearing on the matter, the three attorneys and OSCE reached an agreement that there would be joint custody and his child support obligation, which he never paid, would be lowered
and we would continue to provide health insurance, as we had done all
along. He was given half the holidays and every other weekend.
For a solid year we were forced to let them go. Finally, the the oldest
child now was 12 at this time was so terrified about going, so my wife and
I told him we would not send her back and she told him she would not
go. It took us dropping his arrears in child support and he said she didn’t
have to come.
After a year of not seeing him and him not paying support I was able
to adopt the oldest girl. The adoption cost us $600 from an Arkansas attorney. After the adoption, my daughter now, felt safe and revealed to us
that she had in fact been molested starting back when he was taking us
to court. After the initial act, he told her that if she told, he would kill their
mother.
As of right now we are trying through the courts in Oklahoma to take all
his custodial rights away from him and we are trying to have him charged
with child molestation. Currently he is being investigated now but it is so
sad to me that three years ago, I looked our attorney in the eye and told
her what I believed was going on and no one was contacted, not even
DHS, to do a welfare check. I am just proud that we have both of the girls
here in Arkansas and they are being protected from that predator that they
thought was a father and from the attorneys Office of Child Support Enforcement or the Department of Human Services that are simply just seeking the dollar and not so much the safety and welfare of Oklahoma’s youth.
