Tecumseh man Robert Dale Almon, 35, was arrested after his quarrel with another man finally came to a head on September 2.
Shortly after 3 p.m., a Pottawatomie deputy was dispatched the
Bethel Road. A man called 911 and said there was a man beating on
his door who wanted to beat him up. The call dropped, but another
man called and started yelling and cussing at the dispatcher.
The first man called 911 again and said Almon was threatening to
kill him.
According to the affidavit, this wasn’t the first time the deputy had to
deal with Almon and the victim. When police arrived on scene, Almon
was standing in the victim’s yard with a wrench in his hand. Almon
told a deputy, “Come on fat boy, I can run for two miles.” He threatened to “mow down” officers with his automatic weapons. When he
turned to run, a deputy tazed him. The officers placed him under arrest.
The deputy spoke with the victim, who told him Almon showed up
at his house “causing a scene.” Almon kicked a hole through the front door, grabbed the victim’s
phone and called 911. Almon had some sort of tool in his hand, and he pinned the victim up against
the wall and told him he was going to kill him.
Around 4:30 a.m., the victim said Almon had walked into his home, but he didn’t realize it until he
watched his security video. At the victim’s home, there was a hole in the door and pieces of insulation
stuck to the door inside the house, as though someone had kicked the door down.
The deputy went to the hospital to sit with Almon until he was medically cleared.
Almon told gave the deputy a man’s name and number and told him to call him. Almon said the
man knew a guy who was related to a girl who was being held against her will at the victim’s.
When the deputy contacted the guy, he said he didn’t have a clue what Almon was talking about.
Almon became upset and told the deputy he didn’t believe him.
After the man was medically cleared, he was transported to the Pottawatomie County Safety Center.
Almon is being charged with burglary in the first degree. He was released on a $15,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on November 3, 2015.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Okjailbirds: THIS COMMENT WAS POSTED BY AN OFFICER WHO WISHES
TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS: In reference to the DHS post - I’m in law enforcement and
you can get a LOT of feedback from cops about DHS. Most of us see how badly they handle
cases and how many innocent families they destroy and how many abusive parents they
let keep kids.
The problem is, many of us don’t want to speak up in a public forum like Facebook because it doesn’t look good for a government employee (the cop) to bad mouth another. It
creates a very unprofessional image.
Please keep me anonymous, but you might pass along to their director that there is a
large disdain for DHS among law enforcement. That should be taken very seriously because we are the ones who see first hand the nature of the cases they handle. Most of these
cases are referred to them by U.S. or to us by them.
I’ve only dealt with one DHS worker that I thought truly cared and was competent
enough to do what was in the best interest of the kids and family.
Amber S: It’s nice to finally hear an officer speak about what really happens.
Tiffany M: Thank you for your service officer, and thank you for speaking up!!! I
only wish more officers will come forth!!!!
Marilyn R: Thank you for your service officer! Oklahoma DHS is a joke and an
embarrassment to our state.
Larrad R: Ill belive it when I see it. The is the most famous line besides we are
taking your children, from DHS
Beth N: In as many as we have dealt with including four to six Directors in the almost two years of dealing we know of just one that I commend doing her job above and
beyond and I am proud to know her.
Brooke B: Thank You so much. In tears
Chasity T: Thank you
Michelle K: Good to see an officer speak up. Its sad that officer needs to remain
unanimous but I don’t blame him/ her because odd backlash. I’ve seen cases where children were taken and shouldn’t have been and I’ve seem cases where they should never be
with the p...See More
DHS in Oklahoma has been one of the largest complaints we receive at OK Jailbirds. We are asking our readers to tell us what their experiences with DHS have
been. Good or bad, lets hear it and we will hopefully be speaking with the director
soon to address some of these issues.
Tell us about your experiences with DHS
Jennifer L: I’ve been there, “in the system” and i only remember one that cared
and still stay in contact with and I’m almost 40. I was moved at least 5 or 6 times before i
got to go live my dad. It really sucks as a kid. And out of those foster family’s was only one
that actually cared the rat it was alp about the money.
Jamie J: I have to agree!!! Dealing with Stillwater DHS is a JOKE!!!!
Kendra W: I’m a former foster child they took me out the Hm never did anything about the case only to have to find out 5yrs later that if they did their job my sisters
wouldn’t of have to been put thru being raped & my sister pressured into a baby adoption
scheme. I was in the system & seen several workers a lot of them don’t care bc of burn
out(I’m not defending them)they have too many cases little pay not to mention it is a very
stressful job. There needs to be a check & balance here sum way to help prevent them with
burn out & also a way to hold them accountable
Abrielle R: Thank you, officers, for caring and for fighting for us.
Nicole J: My case was very sensitive.. I greatly respect the officer that did everything he could to help my children and me that horrible night. I will always remember him.
So, I know what your talking about when you say you see first hand and your first on call. its
truly sad that you guys aren’t allowed to do more. This officer spoke on my behalf in court
by supena on three different accounts, but dhs still managed to twist it. I think what you
are doing is something wonderful. You’re giving us all hope that something will be done.
Thank u and God bless you.
Catherine G: DHS has very good works.
Dana L: This police officer did not say anything about the list I wonder why unless
they don’t know about it yet but most do.
Joseph H: My experience is that when myself and other fathers file a complaint
against the mother, Dhs is quick to dismiss the case and close it way to soon. They didn’t do
near enough investigating. No surprise visits or anything. They showed up once and closed
the case.. OKLAHOMA DHS IS A JOKE.
Billy S: I was accused of child abuse because I spanked my son for stealing at school.
Two weeks after the spanking they came to my house and looked at my son’s bare bottom.
There were no bruises on his butt but there were some on his legs. They asked him where
they came from and he told them that they were from playing. The next day DHS removed
my kids and it took me two years to get them back. The only thing they were after was my
money. I was ordered to go through numerous domestic violence classes as well as parenting and anger management classes. There were 4 times that the judge ordered them to
return my children but DHS kept appealing the ruling and would not return them. I have
never hated anyone or anything until I had to deal with this agency.
Kathie B: Kelsey Briggs…Will soon be 10 years that she was murdered under the
watchful eye of DHS.
Amber D: Dhs was very quick to ensue child support payments from my husband
when his son lived with his mom. When my husband and i obtained custody they havent
done anything to get child support from the mother and its almost been a year!
Jenny M: It’s very sad that so many of you cannot see all the positive things that
the OKDHS does for many Oklahomans each and every day. We are so much more than
just child welfare and food stamps. We don’t just yank kids out of homes for no reason and
did you know that a judge has to sign each and every pickup order issued for a child. It isn’t
the decision of one individual worker. Yes they are overworked but many are supporting
families of their own and guess what? Many are also foster parents which are desperately
needed in Oklahoma. Do you realize that we also provide services so that parents can work,
provide services to improve and protect the lives of those with mental and physical disabilities? We also pay for services to keep our elderly out if nursing homes where they
are also neglected and abused as well. YOU are the eyes and ears of your community! We
depend on the public to stand up and say something if you see a child or vulnerable adult
being neglected or abused. EVERYONE in Oklahoma is a mandated reporter, not just DHS
workers. Perhaps instead of ranting and raging about what DHS is doing wrong, you might
consider your own parenting practices and try to improve them. Or, offer a hand to someone who appears to be struggling. Oklahomans are some of the strongest, kindest people
in the nation. We take care of each other here. It has been my pleasure and my mission to
serve OKDHS for nearly 22 years. Yes, there have been rough times but we hang on and do
the best we can with what the legislature allows us. Next time you want to complain about
what we do wrong, stop and think about what we actually do right. Chances are, your family had been touched in some positive way at some point in time or you will need us in the
future. Don’t be so quick to judge unless you’ve walked in our shoes.

A Recent Arrests For Okfuskee County Heape of trouble
After a 4-wheeler and chainsaw trade went
wrong, Okemah man Michael Treat Heape, 58,
allegedly cussed out a 12-year-old and fought
with his neighbor on September 13. He was arrested when officers found guns on his property – he was a felon.
According to the police report, Okemah police responded to shots fired at a residence in
the 900 block of N. Fifth Street shortly after
5 p.m. When they arrived, an officer spoke to
a man who said his 12-year-old daughter told
him Heape cussed at her.
The man went to confront Heape. He said
when he walked up to the man’s house, Heape
walked outside and started hitting him. The
two men struggled until Heape ran back into his residence and grabbed a gun,
firing it at the other man’s feet.
The fight continued until the victim’s wife came out and made him go home.
The victim’s wife and daughter both said they saw Heape fire a gun at the victim.
During the investigation, the officer was advised Heape had past felony convictions that made it illegal for him to possess firearms. He asked the man where the
gun was. Heape told the officer and allowed him to search the residence.
The officer found three guns in a cellar on Heape’s residence. He placed Heape
under arrest and took him to jail.
Heape told police that he traded the victim his 4-wheeler for two chainsaws.
Apparently he wasn’t happy, because he took the chainsaws back to the man’s
yard and told his daughter that her dad could “shove them up his a—hole.” He
said he went back home and was doing dishes when he heard the victim yelling
for him to come outside. When he walked outside, he said the man and his wife
attacked him and hit him with a baseball bat. He also claimed the victim tried to
stab him with a knife.
Heape said after he escaped the couple, he grabbed his gun and fired it at the
victim’s feet to scare him off.
Unfortunately for him, he didn’t have any injuries that were consistent with
being hit by a bat.
Heape is being charged with possession of firearm after former felony conviction. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
October 22, 2015.

An Oklahoma City man was arrested in Holdenville September 7
after he admitted to stabbing his son.
Sherwood Brown, 73, said he could’ve stabbed his son in the chest,
but he didn’t.
According to the affidavit, a Holdenville police officer was dispatched to a motel in the 400 block of S. Echo shortly after 2 p.m.
Brown approached him and said he used a pocket knife to defend
himself from his son. He said he stabbed his son to get him off of
him.
The man had blood on his hand. The officer asked whose blood it
was. Brown said it was probably his, because he still had the knife in
his pocket.
He told police, “I could’ve stabbed [his son] in the chest, but I didn’t.”
Brown said his son left the motel and walked to his mom’s house down the road. A woman
who was on scene called the victim and told him to come back to the scene.
An officer searched Brown and found the knife. He then placed the man under arrest and
put him in the patrol car.
In the room where Brown was staying, there were blood stains on the carpet. The victim
told police that Brown became violent while they were arguing, and he came at him with a
knife, cutting him on his finger and near his eye.
The woman at the scene said Brown told the victim he could kill him if he wanted to.
Brown is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. His bond was
set at $10,000, and he was scheduled to appear in court on September 15, 2015.

When 23-year-old Merci Rene
Keene’s husband tried to leave with
their daughter while she was at
work, she got him where it hurtsliterally. The Chickasha woman
tried to bite her man’s penis off.
Thanks to the man’s lucky stars,
she was unsuccessful and arrested
for domestic abuse.
According to the affidavit, a
Chickasha officer was dispatched to
the 900 block of South 15th Street at
12:33 p.m. on September 4 to check
out reports of a disturbance. When
he arrived, he heard a man and
woman yelling at each other.
The man stepped outside the
house and told the officer he and his wife, Keene, were fighting.
Keene told the officer they were fighting because her husband attempted to leave with their daughter. She said she was at work when
her mom called her and said her husband was trying to leave with
their 11-month-old daughter.
Keene left work to confront her husband.
There was no verbal argument here – Keene said she tackled her
husband while she was holding their daughter and took him to the
ground. Once he was down, Keene said she bit the victim on the arm,
hit him, and tried to bite his penis off.
The victim had a bite mark on his left thigh, about two inches away
from his private parts.
Keene was arrested and transported to jail.
Keene is being charged with domestic abuse in the presence of a
minor. She was released on a $4,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 16, 2015.

A Shawnee man and his Santa Monica, California, girlfriend were caught with a stolen TV on September 9. Even
thought the television still had security cables on it, the woman claimed they bought the TV.
According to the police report, a Seminole officer was dispatched to Walmart in the 1500 block of E. Wrangler at approximately 11:45 p.m. to investigate a theft. A couple had
allegedly stolen a 55-inch screen TV and some other items,
and left the store with their loot.
Dispatch advised the officer that the vehicle was traveling
west on State Highway 9. A Walmart store manager was following the suspect car.
The officer located the vehicle as it turned north onto Highway 3. When the officer started to follow the car, it took off at
a high rate of speed. But, the officer pulled over the car and
made contact with the driver, 46-year-old Lisa Ann Ward,
and passenger, Brandon Dale Winas, 26.
The officer approached the vehicle and saw what appeared
to be a flat screen TV with the security cables still wrapped
around the box in the backseat. He asked Ward about the television. She told him
she purchased the TV at Oklahoma City earlier that day.
The manager who had been following the suspect car positively identified the
TV as the one stolen from his store.
The officer asked them to step out of the car – he then placed them under arrest.
During an inventory of the couple’s car, the officer found a video game that was
still in its security packaging and some clothing.
The manager positively identified those items as the rest of the stolen merchandise.
Both Winas and Ward are being charged with grand larceny. Their bonds were
set at $10,000, and they are scheduled to appear in court on October 1, 2015.

When Monnie Dian Cooper, 63, found out her husband
was sleeping with his sister (yes, you read that right), she
made him a to-do list and waved a pistol around to show that
she was serious.
When an officer came to see what was going on, he also
found Cooper’s “medical” marijuana.
Needless to say, the Allen woman was arrested and taken
to jail.
On September 11, a Pontotoc County deputy was dispatched to a residence on SH 1E due to a disturbance with
a gun. When he arrived, a man told him his wife, Cooper,
threatened him with a gun. He said that he was having an
affair with his sister and his wife found out.
So, Cooper gave him a to-do list and told him to get out of
the house by the end of the week. She also grabbed her gun, pulled it out of her holster, and
“waved it toward the area he was in,” according to the affidavit. He said she never aimed the
gun at him – she just waved it toward him.
Cooper didn’t deny anything. She told the deputy her husband was having sex with his sister, and she wanted him to complete her list of things to do before she kicked him out of the
house. She said she never pointed the gun at him – she just took it out of the holster to show
him she was serious, and that she was upset about his affair with his sister.
When the deputy went to retrieve the weapon, he found it lying beside a small wooden pipe
that had some marijuana in it. He also found a box containing some marijuana.
Monnie said it was hers, but it was OK because it was “medical use marijuana.” The deputy
told her medical use wasn’t allowed in Oklahoma, so it was still illegal.
Still trying to get herself out of the situation, Cooper told the deputy he could just throw it
on the ground because she had seen cops in Ada do that.
The deputy told her no, he couldn’t do that.
Cooper is being charged with reckless conduct with firearm and possession of controlled
dangerous substance. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on October 6, 2015.
