like sand in an hourglass
40-year-old Keuetta Vennel Daniels is facing felony charges after she allegedly choked
a child and stabbed a man who tried to intervene during the incident at a campsite on
June 25.
According to reports, a Rogers County deputy was dispatched to the area of East 340
Road and South 4190 Road near Oologah
Lake to investigate a stabbing. When he arrived, he was advised that Daniels caused a
scene at the campsite, all because a 5-yearold child threw some sand at her.
Daniels reportedly grabbed the sandthrowing child, wrapped her legs around the
kid and put the kid in a chokehold.
A man who was nearby saw what was going on and rushed to the child’s
aid. He pulled Daniels off of the kid.
In response, Daniels pulled out a pocketknife and started stabbing the man.
He had several stab wounds due to the attack.
Witnesses who saw what happened gave police the same account of
events that the victim said happened.
Daniels didn’t try to deny stabbing the man. She said she did stab him, but
it was all in self-defense since the man hit her first.
The child who threw sand at Daniels had markings on her neck and shoulders that were consistent with someone getting choked.
Daniels is being charged with child abuse and assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 20, 2020.

pumped-up kicks
A 53-year-old Tulsa man found himself behind bars in Delaware County after he allegedly kicked an EMS employee out of an ambulance during a drunken episode on June 27.
According to the police report, Jay officers
were dispatched to the Homeland grocery
store in the 1600 block of South Main Street
around 11 p.m. to assist EMS with a combative patient. The patient, later identified as Henry James Buck, Jr., was extremely intoxicated
and kept fighting with EMS technicians who
were trying to keep a tourniquet on his arm.
Buck had a laceration on his arm and was
bleeding heavily – the tourniquet was needed
to stop the bleeding. EMS techs were also trying to insert an IV into the man so they could
give him some meds that would calm him
down.
Delaware County deputies and Wildlife officers also arrived on scene to assist. Officers climbed into the ambulance to offer help against the combative
man.
Personnel on scene were eventually able to get the man to calm down – or
so they thought. As officers exited the ambulance, Buck delivered a solid kick
to the face of an EMS worker, knocking him out of the ambulance.
Officers immediately advised Buck he was under arrest. They handcuffed
him to the bed and put him in leg restraints.
After Buck was cleared for arrest by doctors at a nearby hospital, he was
transported to jail.
On the way, Buck again became combative and started cussing and banging his head on the door of the patrol car. He eventually calmed down when
they reached the jail and was booked into a cell without any more incidents.
Buck is being charged with assault and/or battery on emergency medical
technician. He was released on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear
in court on July 6, 2020.

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children receive
public assistance and their parents pay no child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Summer Warning Involving
Children and the Internet
Summer is here and many children are now home alone with
Internet-capable devices. The
Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against
Children Task Force wants parents
to exercise caution when allowing
children to use those devices.
In 2015, nearly 1,000 instances
of child sexual exploitation were reported to the OSBI through the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Cybertipline, with each case
involving the use of computers, apps, chats, or social media.
Parents are urged to consider the following tips:
• Monitor your child’s usage of electronic devices such as
cell phones, tablets, readers, web cams, and laptops, as well as their usage of apps, games, and social media accounts. Do not allow this usage to be private. Instead, children should use these in open areas of the
home, such as the living room or kitchen.
• Although strangers are a threat, oftentimes children are
exploited by people they know. A large number of child pornography images are taken by the children themselves and sent to others they know or
think they know.
• Utilize device and software parental controls, as well as
safety features available for your children’s devices and apps. Parents are
also encouraged to communicate openly about online activity with their
children.
Young people should be able to identify risky behavior and know what to
do if something bad happens. It is important parents and guardians remain
approachable about this topic – kids should never fear a parent’s reaction more than they fear the misbehavior and/or consequences of people
online.
Ask your child:
• Where do you spend most of your time online?
• What is your favorite app or video game right now?
• Who do you game or communicate with the most?
• How do you decide who gets to follow or friend you?
• What do you share, post, download, upload, and view?
• Can I review your profile with you?
• What would you do if you encounter behavior or communication that makes you uncomfortable?
If your child is the victim of sexual misconduct online or you observe this
type of behavior, immediately report the incident to www.cybertipline.com,
the OSBI, or local law enforcement.

SUSPECT PLEAS IN COURT IN WELCH
MISSING GIRLS CASE
On July 15, in district court, the suspect
in the 1999 case of Lauria Bible and Ashley
Freeman agreed to a plea deal in exchange
for information about the location of the girls.
Ronnie Busick, 69, agreed to plea to one
count of Accessory to Murder. Although his
formal sentencing is scheduled for August
31, he accepted a sentence of 10 years in
prison and five years suspended with time
served for cooperating with investigators. If
Busick can provide investigators with information that leads to the recovery of the girls,
his sentence will be amended to five years in
prison and five years suspended, with time
served.
Busick has spoken with Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI)
agents and investigators from District 12 District Attorney Matt Ballard’s Office
on several occasions. Those talks will continue in an effort to locate Lauria
and Ashely.
On December 30, 1999, Ashely’s parents, Danny and Kathy Freeman, were
found in the ruble of their home after a house fire. Both had been murdered.
Lauria was spending the night with Ashley that night and both were missing
from the home and haven’t been seen since.
An arrest warrant was issued for Busick on April 20, 2018. He was incarcerated in Newton, Kansas, and that is where he was served the warrant on April
22, 2018. Busick and two other suspects, David Pennington and Phil Welch,
were identified as suspects in the girls’ disappearance and probable murder
based on an extensive and coordinated investigation between the OSBI and
the DA’s office that included tips from the public.

THE TOWN OF SOUTH COFFEYVILLE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP YOU OUT OF JAIL!
If you have a warrant with the Town of South Coffeyville, Okla., and would like to get rid of
that warrant once and for all, you can contact the Court Clerk at 1-918-255-6045, option 1.
When a warrant is issued, the amount is sent to a collection agency. At that time, the collection agency will have an additional fee of 25% of the amount of the warrant added onto the
amount due. The town is offering two options at this time. If you would like a pay order, you
will need to pay 35% down of the amount due and sign a pay order. After 35% is paid and
a pay order is signed, the warrant will be recalled and the collection agency will be paid. If
you want to pay the warrant and collection fee, a discount on the warrant will be given for a
total that is over $500. No discounts will be given for pay orders. This will not apply to new
arrests. (Partial list, more to come)

Bryan Thomas Gillispie, 43, was placed under arrest in Miami after he was caught on June
20 driving a stolen vehicle with some paraphernalia and fake drugs.
According to the affidavit, a Miami officer
stopped the man shortly after 2 a.m. in the Stables Casino parking lot because his vehicle had
a flashlight as a tail light. Gillispie didn’t have
any insurance, and he couldn’t provide the officer with proof of purchase. He said that he
had purchased the vehicle about 6 days prior
to the stop.
Gillispie told the officer he was going to the
casino to pick up a friend. He pointed at a man
who walked toward the scene and sat down on a nearby curb. While
checking the man’s information, the officer was advised the vehicle was
reported stolen out of Missouri.
The officer searched the van and found two bags containing a crystal
substance and a large amount of cash. He also secured a weapon that
supposedly belonged to Gillispie’s friend, who was at the scene.
Officers also found syringes, a spoon, bags containing a crystal substance, digital scale, counterfeit money, and what appeared to be crushed
pills.
Gillispie said the white substance found wasn’t meth – it was MSM,
which was commonly used as counterfeit methamphetamine. Gillispie
said he knew some people used MSM to rip people off, but that wasn’t
what he was doing.
Due to how the substance was packaged and the cash found, the officer believed he was trying to sell it as meth. Gillispie said the money was
play money.
When the officer asked why he had fake dope, a gun and money, the
man said it was just for “looks.”
The officer inspected the cash and noticed that the serial numbers on
some of the bills were the same.
Officers from Springfield, Missouri, advised the victim reported that van
had been purchased with counterfeit money. Those officers sent a picture
of the money used to purchase the vehicle – the serial numbers matched
the ones on the cash found in the van.
A field test revealed that the white substance was not meth. The scale,
however, tested positive for methamphetamine.
Gillispie is being charged with possession of stolen vehicle, forgery/
counterfeiting, possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $17,000, and
he was scheduled to appear in court on July 13, 2020.
