Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily
Harm in Indian Country; Theft of over $1,000
in Indian Country; Tampering with a Witness
and Victim by Using and Threatening Physical
Force. Stotesbury, 40, of Pryor, used violence
and intimidation to take a vehicle from a victim on Nov. 17, 2021, after he kidnapped the
victim. He is also charged with cutting and
stabbing the victim during the carjacking.
Stotesbury is also charged with theft of property worth over $1,000 in value, which included cash, a cell phone and the victim’s vehicle.
Finally, Stotesbury is charged with threatening to kill the victim and hitting and cutting the
victim to prevent her from reporting the crime
to authorities. The FBI and Mayes County Sheriff’s Office are the investigative
agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gina Gilmore is prosecuting the case.
Joel Richard Smith; Amanda Irene Smith. Child Abuse in Indian Country
(Counts 1, 3); Child Neglect in Indian Country (Counts 2,4). From July 8,
2016, and continuing through April 5, 2019, Joel and Amanda Smith, aiding
and abetting one another, are alleged to have repeatedly struck a child with
their hands and belt and restrained the child’s ankles with handcuffs. During
that time, they also failed to adequately provide for the physical, emotional,
and educational needs of the child. The child ran to a neighbor’s home for
help and was severely malnourished, did not have basic hygiene needs met,
and showed signs of physical abuse, including difficulty walking. Joel Smith,
46, of Salina, is charged in counts 1 and 2. Amanda Smith, 43, of Salina, is
charged in counts 3 and 4. The FBI and Mayes County Sheriff’s Office are the

stopped by an employee on December 17.
According to the affidavit, a Grove officer
was dispatched to the store shortly after 6 p.m.
to investigate possible shoplifting. He was advised that two suspects were trying to steal a
television and a large amount of clothing.
When the officer arrived, he spoke to the
manager, who was on the phone with a loss
prevention employee. The loss prevention employee followed the suspect duo as they exited
the store without paying for anything.
The employee stopped the couple, and the
officer met them and told them to sit down on
a bench. When he tried to arrest the male suspect, the man resisted and the officer grabbed his arm. The man then took
off his coat, escaping from the officer’s grasp. He ran through the parking lot
and tried hiding under a car.
Officers pulled the man out from under the vehicle and asked for identification. He said he didn’t have any, but he told the officers his name was Dustin
and he was 26 years old. He later admitted to police that he had lied about his
name and date of birth – he was positively identified as Darrell John Brempell.
Brempell told police he had given them information for his brother. Officers
discovered that Brempell had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest
out of Wisconsin.
During the investigation, the officer was advised that Brempell and his companion had attempted to shoplift $1,089.69 worth of merchandise. The items
they attempted to steal included a 65-inch TV, a suitcase, some ramen noodles, a camp set, and shoes and clothing.
Brempell is being charged with falsely personate another to create liability,
larceny of merchandise from a retailer, and resisting an officer, all after former
conviction of a previous felony.

AGAINST ALL ODDS
Miami man Jonathan Michael Yost took a
gamble that placed all odds against him.
The 55-year-old was arrested after he allegedly threatened to harm casino staff while
at the Buffalo Run Casino on December 21.
According to the police report, a Miami and
Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer was dispatched to the casino at approximately 10:41
p.m. He was advised that a man was acting
weird and threatening to harm casino staff.
When the officer arrived, he met with the
suspect, identified as Yost.
Yost admitted that he had been drinking,
but it was pretty obvious – he had slurred
speech and was unbalanced on his feet.
Yost told the officer that some people wanted to blow up the casino. He also said that
the people wanted to shoot him and the officer.
When the officer asked the man if he could call someone to give him a ride
home, Yost refused, stating that people who were following him would kill
whoever gave him a ride.
The officer eventually told Yost that he needed to leave the property.
Yost tried to leave in his vehicle, but the officer stopped him. Other officers
arrived to assist. Yost said he just wanted to go home, but officers wouldn’t
let him drive due to his level of intoxication.
At one point, Yost tried to open the door to his vehicle. Officers stopped
him, and the man lunged at an officer.
Another officer stopped Yost, but the man kept trying to fight the police
officers. They eventually took the man to the ground and subdued him with
a taser. As officers placed the man in the back of the patrol car, Yost started
kicking and making threats toward the officers.
Yost is being charged with assault and battery upon a police officer and
public intoxication. His bond was set at $5,300, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 28, 2022.
YOST
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless
