A REAL PAIN IN THE NECK
A Claremore man was locked up for allegedly stabbing another man in the neck
on May 8.
Reports state that the victim was at
his friend’s house in Foyil trying to fix a
tire. While he was working on the tire,
36-year-old Lonnie Battenfield walked up
behind him and wrapped his right arm
around the victim’s neck. The victim said
he felt a knife pressed to his skin.
Battenfield then told him to get on the
ground. When the man complied, Battenfield stabbed him in the neck.
A witness who was on scene saw the
victim’s blood and started screaming,
prompting Battenfield to flee the scene. Fortunately, the victim was
able to finish fixing the tire and drive himself to the hospital, where a
Rogers County deputy later responded to investigate the incident.
Battenfield has a lengthy criminal record, including charges for assault and battery on a police officer and multiple counts of assault and
battery with a dangerous weapon. He served prison time for some of
the offenses.
Battenfield is being charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon after former conviction of a felony. His bond was set at
$100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 12, 2018.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty ROGERS COUNTY 5 | JUNE 2018
This is a great conversation to have with
your friend’s treatment provider. Different
patients need different levels of support. If
there are difficult dynamics in a family group
or set of friends, the counselor may recommend little contact for a while. It is important
to tell friends struggling with addiction that
you admire their courage for tackling this
medical problem directly through treatment
and that as long as they stick with the treatment plan, you will offer encouragement
and support. When residential treatment is over, your friend will have to re-enter
the community and it will be a difficult time. There will be triggers everywhere that
could promote a relapse—such as driving by places where the person once took
drugs, or seeing friends who provided those drugs. You can encourage your friend
to avoid these triggers, and you can make an effort to ask him or her what those
triggers are. However, people addicted to drugs have to fight much of this struggle
on their own, without the help and advice of friends, using the knowledge and
skills learned in treatment. Offer as much love and support you can as long as your
friend continues to follow the treatment plan. If your he or she relapses, you should
encourage additional treatment.
If my friend does go into treatment,
how can I offer support?

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

A man in Minneapolis was caught walking along the intersection of a road…
wearing a pair of high heels. And. Nothing. Else. To sicken your mental picture
even further, he’s 63 years old. He ran through the snow and hopped in his car
when he saw the police following. Luckily, they tracked him down and arrested
him before he showed up on the cover of Vogue.
A man in Houston was caught on camera while trying to cash a stolen check.
His identity is unknown, and is therefore known as the “Have You Seen My
Zombie?” Dude, because of what’s written on his t-shirt. According to witnesses, he also has glasses, and interesting red facial hair. No word yet on where
the zombie is.
A man in Miami, tripping out on bath salts (a new faux-cocaine trend), starting
knocking on neighbors’ doors saying he needed an ambulance. He was frustrated when the police showed up, and caused even more trouble. He scraped
his teeth across the hood of a police car after being handcuffed. It surprisingly
made quite a scratch.
A woman in Indiana came home one night to find a man seated in one of
her chairs. He refused to leave, even after the police were called, apparently
believing that this was his home. He had even done some household chores.
The laundry was folded, floors were vacuumed, and there was some chicken
cooking on the stove. I bet this is one crime most of us wouldn’t mind being
victims of.
A rather large man decided he was in desperate need of some socks. So
desperate, in fact, that he entered Wal-Mart at night to steal them. Wearing…
absolutely nothing. Maybe it was a political statement, maybe he was trying
to do a Red Hot Chili Peppers type-thing….who knows? To make matters
stranger, he refused to comply with police officers until they subdued him with
a stun gun.
Two grown brothers in Pennsylvania were sharing a McDonald’s brownie when apparently one became enraged. He picked up three (three?) steak
knives, and began to slash and stab his shocked brother. This is not his first
stabbing incident. The other probably involved a McFlurry.
A man was convicted of using paper clips instead of the usual stainless steel
posts when treating root canals. Ouch. He was sentenced to a year in jail,
having already been fined for assault, battery, defraud, illegal prescriptions, and
witness intimidation. Not exactly the kind of man you want sticking his fingers
down your throat. Then again, who is?

panic at the walmart
Bluejacket woman Lyndsay Danielle
Creason, 25, allegedly used another woman’s identity to steal a vehicle on May 2.
According to the affidavit, a woman contacted a Miami officer and said she had received a Facebook message from a local
car lot asking her to return a silver car she
had taken on a test drive earlier that day.
She told police that the ID used to drive
the vehicle was an old driver’s license she
lost in 2014.
On May 4 shortly after 8 p.m., officers
were contacted by the owner of the car lot,
who said he had located the stolen vehicle in the Walmart parking
lot in the 2400 block of N. Main Street. He described the suspect
driving the car.
Officers entered the store and located Creason. She told them
she didn’t have any identification on her, but she identified herself as
Creason. She said her ID was in her car. An officer asked her what
car she was driving. Creason said it was a silver car that belonged
to her uncle.
They walked out to the parking lot, where Creason briefly glanced
at the stolen vehicle. She then walked past it and continued walking
through several rows of cars before telling the officers she couldn’t
find it.
A officer asked her if she had the keys. She said her uncle had
them. He then suggested she look through her purse for them. The
officer took out his flashlight to assist, and he saw a yellow tag on a
keychain that is commonly used by car lots to mark their keys. He
told her she should check those.
Creason pressed the panic button, and the lights on the stolen
car started flashing. She was placed under arrest.
In the woman’s purse, officers found a plastic bag, some syringes, a silver spoon with a cotton ball, a green leafy substance, a
marijuana grinder and a smoking device with a burnt residue.
In the vehicle, they located a syringe filled with a liquid substance,
a digital scale, plastic bags, a bowl with a green leafy residue and
the driver’s license used to test drive the car.
Creason is being charged with possession of stolen automobile,
false impersonation, identity theft, possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her
bond was set at $17,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court
on June 5, 2018.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty OTTAWA COUNTY 27 | JUNE 2018
June is Internet Safety Month
Computer interconnectivity
has produced enormous benefits, but has also enabled criminal activity that exploits this interconnectivity for financial gain
and other malicious purposes,
such as internet fraud, child
exploitation, identity theft, and
terrorism. The Internet can give
identity thieves, hackers, and
scammers online access to your computer, financial and personal information
and more. Additionally, today’s mobile devices are well integrated with the
internet and have far more functionality than mobile phones of the past. They
are increasingly used in the same way as personal computers, potentially
making them susceptible to similar threats affecting computers connected to
the Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful arena for
socializing and learning. However, the use of the internet also brings about
risks to their safety, including the dangers of sexual solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating, parents -- regardless of whether they
are technologically savvy -- can help their kids make better decisions about
online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated with protecting
networks and information, detecting criminal activity, investigating crime, and
prosecuting criminals, . The Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America against cyber threats and has developed a pragmatic
and focused cyber-security legislative proposal for Congress to consider. The
proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for the American
people, our Nation’s critical infrastructure, and the Federal Government’s own
networks and computers.
