We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

Delaware woman Brittany Martin, 20, was
locked up after she allegedly lied to police
about the whereabouts of a wanted man on
February 13.
According to the police report, a state
trooper was driving through Delaware when
he saw a burning pile of brush in between
two homes. He made contact with one of the
homeowners, who said his son had probably
set the brush on fire.
The trooper went to the suspect’s home
and knocked on the door. After an “extended
period of time,” a woman came to the door.
The trooper asked her if the suspect was
home. The woman, later identified as Martin,
appeared to hesitate and looked back inside the house before telling the
trooper the man wasn’t in the residence. She continued to seem nervous
and uncomfortable while speaking to the trooper. She asked if the suspect
was in trouble. The trooper replied that he just wanted to speak to him
about the fire.
The trooper then left the home to search for the man at other locations.
While looking for the man, officers were advised that the suspect had warrants for his arrest out of South Coffeyville.
A short time later, the trooper saw a man walking down the street -- the
man was identified as the suspect. The trooper placed him under arrest for
the warrants.
While speaking to the man, the trooper discovered the man had been in
the house when he spoke to Martin.
The trooper returned to the suspect’s home and placed Martin under arrest for lying about the whereabouts of the suspect.
Martin is being charged with interfering with an officer. Her bond was set
at $500, and she was scheduled to appear in court on February 27, 2017.

in Oklahoma that custodial parents aren’t getting the money owed to them. Too many deadbeat parents are getting
away with not supporting their children and our “powers
that be” continue to turn a blind eye to it. So, Jailbirds taking a different approach in helping find deadbeat parents. In
the past, we’ve relied on the DHS website to get info, but
it is pretty lame, as you may have noticed. If you are owed
money from a non-custodial parent, it was court-ordered,
they haven’t paid, and they have a warrant for their arrest, please email news@okjailbirds.
com with the name of the parent in arrears, how much they owe, and what county the
money is owed through. We will try our hardest to confirm the warrant and feature them on
our expanded Deadbeat Parents page. The key here is that they MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE
WARRANT so we can confirm the charge. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE PERSON’S NAME

Nicole R: Moms who can’t or won’t financially support her children get reduced
housing, food stamps, insurance , educational grants, TANF etc.... dads who can’t or
won’t financially support his children get jail, liens on property, tax returns intercepted,
licenses and permits suspended , and a nice picture on jailbirds. Biased much?
Jailbirds: No, we are not biased. We don’t make the rules. But we do know the
rules and laws need to be changed. It’s not working now. Wouldn’t you agree? If you don’t
like the way things are done now, pick up your phone and call your representative. Put
pressure on them. We are.
David S: You are absolutely correct. Sure glad I’m not the only one who sees that.
My ex owes over 50K to her first kids father. She receives food stamps, insurance, etc. Yet,
if I get one month behind they threaten me with suspension on my DL. Oh did I mention
we have 50/50 custody and my child is with me half the time!!! Oh I can tell so much more
about how the child support system sucks. BTW in Oklahoma the child support is handled
by a third party who claims to be with the state. Such a crock.
Nicole R: it’s most definitely not working. 50/50 custody when possible , between 2
fit parents, could alleviate financial burdens on both sides. Jailbirds, done, done and done!
The Father’s Rights Movement page is a great support page for fathers dealing with these
issues.
Jailbirds : *smh* This is NOT about us or even you! It’s about your children! Who
ever said life was fair? Do what’s right and don’t let your kids go without basic things, even
if the other parent is not doing their part. Children need to grow up in a relatively healthy
environment. They need BOTH parents’ support, but can still thrive with only one! I grew
up with an alcoholic father who never paid my mom one dime of child support!! Each one
of us five kids grew up to go to vo-tech or college because we had at least one parent who
thought of us instead of herself. She paid a heavy price for us, and if my dad hadn’t been
a deadbeat, we would have had a much easier time putting food on the table. Growing up
on Rice-a-roni is crap. So don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about because I’m a
“victim” of our system too. Only thing is, I chose NOT TO BE A VICTIM!

I’m glad to hear you and your siblings grew up right. Gives me inspiration while I’m raising
my kids.
Jason P: I am from Arkansas and have wilfully paid my child support for 17 years
without missing a single payment. 3 years ago I remarried and my wife is from Oklahoma
she brought her 2 young daughters and I was appalled that the State of Oklahoma Child
Support Services were so out of touch enforcing noncustodial to pay their support. The
individual that owes his children is over $5k in arrears and has never made an effort in
the 3 years to wilfully pay. They seem to allow the deadbeats to slip through the system
unscathed. I and their mother support the children 100%. It doesn’t seem right that a
deadbeat of this magnitude should be allowed to keep getting away with it but I’m convinced that Oklahomas Child Support Services are,lacking a backbone or they are to lazy
to enforce the court orders. This guy has been threatened to loose his license have his
bank account froze and so forth but OCSE let’s him pay a one time payment of $50 and
all is good in their books and they drop the hearings on the matter. It’s sad that an agency
that is supposed to support the custodial parent and child support the deadbeats instead.
All I can say to Oklahoma OSCE is your lucky that the custodial parent and step parent
pick up your slack.

Keith G: Child support is a joke in Oklahoma. The ones who need the child support
can’t get it and the people who completely ruin there ex’s life over it don’t need as much
as they claim they need because that person makes good money. To base child support
off of ones income is complete bullshit.
David S: That’s absolutely correct. Based on your income is BS. I have 50/50 custody. My child is with me at least 50 percent of the time. Yet I still have to pay child support? That’s BS. I also provide transportation to his school which is about 30 miles away
from my home. Such BS.
Keith G: The Oklahoma court system definitely favors the women, I was lucky and
my ex never even asked showed up in my case. Hasn’t been in the picture for almost 5
years and never have I seen any child support money. Never even showed up*
Jenn H: I beg to differ, in my case it came down to who had the most money for the
best attorney.
Keith G: Sounds like you got a fair deal then, just good it should be, right? Just how*
Christina H: I don’t see Oklahoma favoring woman.....That’s just not true...I was in
a abusive relationship for years all his charges were dropped at court...I fight back once I
go to jail.. Have to pay him(my abuser) 5000 dollars and loose my kids....I pay child support...Have no problem doing that....But he never payed me a dime when I had the kids
so where is the favoritism?
David S: I’m glad you have stepped up and are showing not all us fathers are deadbeat. Keep up the great work. The kid(s) are what matters. Well Christina there are some
circumstances that it may go in another direction, but on a majority the women are favored. Though I’m sure there is much more to the story, and the violence certainly changes
things.
Christina H: Yes...I also think the county has a lot to do with it....Here the men are
definitely favored...No matter what the situation is....
Keith G: I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I based my comment off of opinion and circumstances that I’ve seen my good friends (male) go through. I hate to see anyone who
really wants to be there for their kids go through the process of it all. I hope eventually
everything works out for you Christina Horne. David, I appreciate the thanks, I couldn’t do
it without the support of my family and girlfriend. They stepped up when I needed them
the most and it has helped tremendously. Keep doing what your doing for your kids buddy.
One day these kids are going to be old enough to realize the the shit you had to go through
to see them and what you did for them.

Grove woman Nicole Serage, 28, allegedly threw some rocks at her neighbor’s house after the neighbor refused to
give her a cigarette the evening of February 21.
According to the affidavit, Grove officers were dispatched to a residence in
the 1500 block of 104th Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. The victim said
Serage and “some other drunk guy” had
come to her residence earlier that evening and asked for a cigarette. When
she told them no, they tried to push
open her door.
The duo, along with another person,
returned to her home a few hours later,
yelling obscenities and throwing rocks at
her home.
Officers looked around the area, and they found several large rocks
lying in the driveway. It was also obvious that the vehicle in the driveway
had been hit by rocks.
While police were perusing the area, the front door of a nearby residence opened. A man walked outside, and an officer yelled at him to
stop. The man instead walked back inside. A few seconds later, the
officer heard the back door of the residence slam, and he saw the man
run across the street.
As officers were looking for the man, Serage and her husband walked
outside. While an officer was speaking to the husband, Serage walked
up to another officer and started pushing him. The officer told her to
calm down. She replied that she was going back inside her house. The
officer told her to stay outside, but she ignored him and continued inside
her residence. The officer followed and told her to come outside.
At one point, she leaned toward the officer, so he grabbed her arm
and placed her in handcuffs.
Serage interrupted the officer several times while he was trying to
speak to her and told him that she had plenty of money for an attorney.
She eventually told him the identity of the man who had run from officers.
Serage said when the man went to the victim’s home to ask for a
cigarette, he and the victim started arguing. The man later went back to
the victim’s home and threw rocks at the house.
Serage is being charged with assault and battery on police officer,
obstructing officer and malicious injury to property under $1,000. Her
bond was set at $1,650, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
March 27, 2017.

SAVE’s Vision: Schools and communities will be safer and more secure,
free of fear and conducive to learning as a result of students being actively involved in meaningful violence prevention efforts.
How It Got Started: SAVE was started by students in Charlotte, North
Carolina in 1989 after the tragic death of a classmate who was trying to
break up a fight at an off-campus party. A group of students who did not
want this death to be “just another statistic” took action and created a
violence prevention program.
Chapters: SAVE has evolved into a national association with chapters in elementary, middle and high schools as well as at colleges and
community organizations across the country. Today, there are more than
200,000 students involved nationwide.
Activities: Student members take the lead in planning chapter activities
by using the three SAVE Essential Elements: conducting crime prevention
activities, conducting conflict management activities and providing meaningful service through projects in schools and communities. SAVE chapters also plan safety rallies and safety awareness campaigns, engage in
peer mentoring to younger students, and conduct fun and educational
meetings.

If you’re already being admitted to jail for
something you did, it’s probably a good idea
to be on your best behavior so you don’t
wind up in even more trouble.
24-year-old Michael Charles Jordan from
Minneapolis, Minnesota, obviously didn’t
think about that when he was arrested on
February 12. During booking, he allegedly
attacked a detention officer and broke the
officer’s watch.
According to the police report, a Craig
County deputy was dispatched to the Craig
County Jail at approximately 10:45 p.m. due
to an altercation between an inmate and a
jailer in the book-in area. When he arrived,
Jordan was refusing to sign his fingerprint cards. When a detention officer
tried to lead him to a cell, Jordan refused to walk into the cell. The deputy
stepped in and escorted the man into the cell and told him that as long as
he was at Craig County Jail, he would follow orders.
The deputy then noticed an injury above the detention officer’s left eye
and a red mark on the man’s neck. His upper lip was also split open. He
asked the man what happened.
The detention officer said while he was getting the computer ready to
take Jordan’s fingerprints, Jordan walked toward the door between the
book-in and fingerprint areas, and slammed it. He then ran toward the detention officer and punched him in the head. A brief struggle ensued, but
officers were able to place the man in handcuffs.
Jordan is being charged with assault and battery upon a police officer.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
March 24, 2017.

locked up after the
man was found in the
women’s restroom at a
Wyandotte casino on
February 14.

Michael Medlin and
Amber Naomi Beck,
25, allegedly got a little
bit too drunk while gambling, and ended Valentine’s Day in the slammer.
According to the police report, an Eastern Shawnee tribal police officer
was stopped by security officers at approximately 2:41 a.m. They pointed
toward a man walking across the parking lot and told the officer two female
customers had found him in the women’s restroom.
The officer stopped the man, identified as Medlin, and asked him what
was going on. Medlin said he was just trying to leave.
While they were speaking, the officer noticed that the man smelled like
alcohol. When he asked the man how much booze he had been drinking,
Medlin replied, “Enough.”
A woman walked up to the group, and security told the officer she had
been in the bathroom with Medlin. She was identified as Beck.
Beck slapped the officer’s arm and told him to leave Medlin alone. She
also punched the officer, knocking his glasses off his face. Medlin tried to
stop the officer from placing the woman in handcuffs by stepping in between them. The officer took out his taser and told the woman that if she
didn’t stop, he was going to tase her. She obeyed, but kicked at the officer
as he placed her in handcuffs.
Medlin started to walk away from the officer again, until the officer told
him that he was under arrest. He resisted and a struggle ensued, but officers were eventually able to place the man in handcuffs.
The couple was transported to jail.
The women who found Medlin in the bathroom told police the man yelled
at them and told them he could be in the women’s restroom when they
confronted him. Beck later told police she thought someone was following
her through the casino, so she asked Medlin to go into the bathroom with
her for her safety.
Medlin is being charged with public intoxication and obstructing an officer. His bond was set at $1,300.
Beck is being charged with assault and battery on police officer, and
public intoxication. Her bond was set at $5,300. They are both scheduled
to appear in court on March 28, 2017.
