DENIED!
A Claremore man sentenced to 35 years in prison for a
deadly 2021 crash will remain behind bars after a judge denied
his request for early release on January 27.
Clinton Cottom, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and other charges, asked the court to reconsider his sentence after serving just eight months. Cottom was sentenced
last year in connection with a deadly incident at a 2021 Bedlam party, where he drove his truck into a crowd of people
while intoxicated.
Reports state Cottom arrived at the party uninvited and
drunk and was asked to leave after allegedly making unwanted advances toward women. Authorities say he later returned and drove into a group of partygoers.
His truck flipped and landed on top of Terri McCauley, killing her. Four others were injured. One victim
suffered a fractured pelvis after being pinned beneath the wreckage.
Because Cottom pleaded guilty without a sentencing agreement from the district attorney’s office,
a judge imposed the 35-year sentence. Under state law, he was eligible to request a sentence review
within one year.
During the hearing, Cottom told the court he has completed several prison programs, works as a
tutor in the facility’s education department, and has taken full responsibility for his actions. He said he
hopes the victims’ families can one day forgive him and that their pain will ease over time.
His attorney argued for leniency, describing Cottom as “a really good man who made a bad mistake” and saying he believes Cottom could become a productive member of society.
Victims and their family members expressed outrage in court, questioning why they were forced
to relive the tragedy so soon.
Prosecutors pushed back against Cottom’s request, asking pointed questions during the hearing,
including whether eight months in prison is sufficient punishment for murder and whether requiring
victims to return to court demonstrated accountability. Cottom responded that those determinations
were not up to him.
Prosecutors also played recorded jail calls between Cottom and his brother-in-law discussing the
hearing. In the calls, the brother-in-law used graphic language to describe the prosecutor, advised
Cottom to appear remorseful in court, and referenced a contraband cell phone.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge denied the request for sentence modification.
Cottom will continue serving his 35-year sentence.

ROAD RAGE - Tailgating driver causes victim to
roll off highway
Facts of the case:
- Suspect tailgating victim on Highway 75
- Suspect starts to pass victim but collides with
victim’s SUV
- Victim’s SUV rolls down an embankment
- Victim taken to hospital
- Suspect arrested and taken to jail
The rest of the story:
On February 21st, 2026, around 10 a.m., Tulsa Police Officers responded to
an Injury Crash on Highway 75 near Olympia Ave.
Officers arrived to find the victim with multiple non-life-threatening injuries, and
his SUV in a ditch off to the side of Highway 75’s northbound lanes. Paramedics
took him to the hospital for treatment.
Officers learned that the victim was driving northbound on the highway when
a driver, 34-year-old Jacob Strawn, started tailgating him. When the victim had
clearance to move into the other lane, Strawn also changed lanes, once again
getting close to the victim’s rear bumper.
Strawn finally started to pass the victim, saluting him with his middle finger,
before coming back over into the victim’s lane and colliding with the front fender.
The victim’s SUV left the highway and rolled down the embankment to the
right near Tulsa Hills. Another driver who was a witness to the collision called
911 for the victim.
The witness corroborated the victim’s story about the circumstances that led
to the collision.
Officers arrested and booked Strawn into the Tulsa County Jail for:
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
- No insurance
- Expired tag

UNSOLVED COLD CASE
Selwyne Anette Richardson, 43, was last seen at her
home at the Crystal Bay Apartments near 21st Street
and Mingo Road in Tulsa, Oklahoma, sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. on November 5, 2006. She
was last seen in the company of her ex-boyfriend. This
year marks 20 years since Selwyne was last seen.
Concerns arose about her wellbeing when she failed
to pick up her child from her mother’s home. After not
hearing from her, her family checked her apartment. There was no sign of Selwyne. The
apartment looked as if she had just left, all her belongings were inside and the door
locked. At the time of her disappearance, she did not own a vehicle.
After her disappearance, traces of Selwyne’s blood was discovered in her ex-boyfriend’s truck. Despite the discovery, he maintained his innocence in connection to her
case. To this day no one, including the ex-boyfriend, has been charged. He was serving a
prison sentence for unrelated weapons charges but has since been released.
A note was later left on the vehicle of Edna Pitts, Selwyne’s mother, by an unknown
older black man driving a white Buick Skylark, according to witness accounts. It was written on a cheap napkin and said, “Look up under the part of the shop that he had added
on after your daughter became missing on Apache Shield “guy” shop on Apache”. Many
believe the note is about Allen Shields, a suspect in the murder of Neil Sweeney, 2008,
and a person of interest in the Angie Tucker case. Allen died by suicide during a hostage
standoff in 2011.
Selwyne is described as a black female with black hair and brown eyes. She sometimes goes by the name Tina Pitts and she is often referred to by that name. That night
in 2006, she was wearing a gray and black hair weave with a ponytail. She has her ears
pierced, a scar on her right leg, a scar on her left thigh, tattoos on both arms, and noticeable stretch marks covering her entire body. It is known that she was grappling with
drug-related issues at the time of her disappearance. Selwyne is listed as # MP8313 in
NamUs and there are four comparisons for her DNA/dentals.
Selwyne is described as a fun and loving person who is a joy to be around. She was
very close to her family. Given the circumstances, foul play is suspected, as her family
is skeptical that she would willingly leave her children without communication. Her sister
Angie continues to search for her.
If you have any information on the disappearance of Selwyne Anette Richardson,
please contact the Tulsa Police Department at 918-596-9122, referencing case # 2006-
079084. You can also submit a tip anonymously to your local law enforcement agency.

TURN ABOUT IS FAIR PLAY
A 20-year-old man thought he could outmaneuver
multiple law enforcement agencies by doing a turnabout in Chelsea after he failed to stop for a traffic violation in Pryor Creek and sped off.
Kledus Klayton Klevert Story, 20, of Moore, was
charged January 28 with felony endangering others
while eluding/attempting to elude, running a roadblock,
failure to carry insurance/security verification form, and
failure to display current tag, in Mayes County District Court.
According to Pryor Creek Police Chief Jeremy Cantrell, around 12:46 a.m. on January
27, a Pryor Creek Police Officer was trying to pull over a car for a traffic offense. The driver
didn’t stop and sped off, which got officers chasing after it.
The car’s driver, later identified as Story, drove south on Highway 69 towards Chouteau, then turned around in the city and headed back north towards Pryor Creek.
Just south of Pryor Creek, Story swerved to dodge stop sticks laid out by a Mayes
County Sheriff’s Deputy and hit a barrier on the road, which really messed up the car. A
short distance later, the driver stopped on the side of the road.
Story was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Mayes
County Jail. Bond was set at $140,000, but was later reduced to $30,000. He is scheduled to next appear in court on March 19.

12 | MARCH 2026 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty NOWATA COUNTY
HEY THIRTEEN
A Nowata man was sentenced January 29 after being
found guilty by a jury for sexually abusing two teenage girls.
U.S. District Judge John D. Russell ordered Kaleb Scott
Smith, 34, to serve 228 months imprisonment, followed by
15 years of supervised release. Upon his release, Smith will
also be required to register as a sex offender, announced U.S.
Attorney Clint Johnson.
In November 2025, jurors convicted Smith of Sexual Abuse
of a Minor in Indian Country and two counts of Abusive Sexual
Contact with a Minor in Indian Country. Court records show that Smith sexually abused two teenage
girls, who were only 13 and 14 years old.
In September 2024, the 14-year-old minor victim disclosed being sexually abused by Smith to a
parent. The minor victim’s parents testified that they contacted law enforcement. During that conversation, they showed officers a photo of Smith with their daughter and handed over the cellphone
to be searched. The photo presented to the jury showed Smith cuddling with the 14-year-old under
a blanket. Smith’s arm is seen wrapped around the child, and his hand rests on her upper thigh.
When the minor victim testified, she stayed overnight with Smith’s 14-year-old daughter while
Smith was celebrating his birthday in July 2024. The minor victim said that Smith flipped the waistband of her clothing and touched her butt. The next morning, Smith showed the 14-year-old a photo
of himself naked in front of a mirror.
Witness testimony from Smith’s teenage daughter and the minor victim described a second incident. They stated that Smith rented a hotel room at a casino with two beds. While in the room, both
witnesses described lying on a bed watching social media videos, and Smith lay with them. Both
witnesses said that Smith was cuddling with the minor victim under a blanket. The minor victim described that Smith began rubbing his crotch on her back. She moved to the second bed, and Smith
followed her. He continued to rub his crotch against her butt.
During a third incident, Smith’s daughter, the minor victim, and their 14-year-old friend stayed
the night at his house in September 2024. All three girls testified about the evening. Smith was with
the minor victim in his bedroom with the door closed. The friend heard giggling and opened the
bedroom door. She saw Smith on top of the minor victim in bed, felt uncomfortable, and closed the
door. Later that night, the minor victim testified that Smith asked her to come back to his bedroom.
After going back to the bedroom, evidence presented to the jury and trial testimony showed that
Smith sexually abused the minor. A few days after the abuse, the minor victim told her friend what
happened. A DNA expert confirmed that Smith’s bodily fluids and the minor victim’s DNA were found
together on his bed.
When law enforcement interviewed the friend about the incident in September, she further disclosed that Smith had been inappropriate with her on several occasions. When she was 13 years
old, Smith would make comments about her body and slap her butt. After turning 14, Smith made
comments about her while she was in a towel and touched her breast.
Smith is a member of the Osage Nation and was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal Service
at trial. He will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

CAUGHT IN THE TRAP
A 43-year-old woman from Arkansas was arrested
in Delaware County after investigators found drugs
in her purse during a human trafficking investigation.
According to the affidavit, on January 26, agents
with the District Attorney 13th Task Force were conducting an undercover human trafficking enforcement operation in Delaware County. During the investigation, they monitored and responded to advertisements online involving prostitution. People were
offering sexual acts in exchange for money.
One of the advertisements they responded to was made by Taryn Catherine Bellucio. She agreed to meet in Delaware County and perform sexual acts for money.
When she arrived at the location, agents met with her and confirmed her identity. They
recovered a clear plastic container from her that contained a crystalline substance.
A field test confirmed that the substance was meth and weighed approximately
34.8 grams.
Bellucio is being charged with drug trafficking PCP 20 grams or more not using a
motor vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 21, 2026.

A Texas man has been arrested after police say he
drunkenly walked into a fast-food restaurant and assaulted the manager, who immediately responded to the attack with force.
On Sunday, Feb. 22, police were called to a Whataburger restaurant in Paris, Texas, following a report that a man
had entered the restaurant and became verbally abusive
to staff. After entering the restaurant and allegedly being
verbally abusive to staff, the man was asked to leave.
Before he left, the man allegedly threatened to “return and assault the manager” once
police exited the premises, according to an incident report viewed by PEOPLE.
The report further alleges that the man returned to the restaurant and “assaulted the
manager by striking him with his fist multiple times.” In a now-viral video captured by Billy
Jones, a customer inside the restaurant, a Whataburger employee can be seen responding to the attack by repeatedly hitting the man with a trash can.
Another employee attempted to fend off the attacker by striking him with a deep-fryer
basket, according to local outlet Fox 4.
Police later identified the suspect as 41-year-old Anthony William Newhuis, who was
located by officers in the restaurant’s parking lot, where he was found bleeding from the
head, according to the incident report.
Newhuis was arrested and charged with assault resulting in bodily injury, according to
jail records viewed by PEOPLE. He was also charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly “intentionally” flooded the cells of the Lamar County Jail, according to the incident
report issued by the Paris Police Department.
Newhuis was released from jail on Monday, Feb. 23, after posting a $2,000 surety bond
for the criminal mischief charge and a $2,500 bond on the assault charge. A court date
on the charges has not yet been set.

An Ohio woman is facing charges after police say she
punched an officer in the face while under the influence.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Feb. 16
on 3rd Street SW in Canton.
Police say Jade Cain and her boyfriend, Alan King, had
caused problems at the address before.
When officers arrived, body camera video shows King’s mother outside on the sidewalk, who
started filling them in on the ongoing issues between the couple.
Police say that’s when Cain and King came out of the house. Cain started arguing with the family
almost immediately, according to the report.
Officers said Cain appeared to be under the influence of something and couldn’t stop talking.
Officers later discovered Cain had ingested hand sanitizer.
According to the report, one officer decided to detain her in a patrol cruiser to get the investigation
moving.
That’s where things got physical. While officers walked her to the cruiser, Cain went limp and
dropped to the ground.
Once at the cruiser, Cain sat down briefly, and the body camera footage shows her asking for a
shoe.
Police say she then swung her left hand and hit the officer in the face with her fist. The officer is
shown in the video slamming the door shut.
Another officer arrives on the scene shortly after and talks to the family before Cain is taken to the
Stark County Jail.
At the jail, police say they put Cain in a holding room. Cain reportedly started kicking the door and
banging her head against it.
At some point, she slipped her left hand out of the handcuffs and started slamming the cuffs
against the cell door window, cracking and shattering the glass.
Cain was charged with assaulting a peace officer and vandalism.
She is expected back in court on February 24.

SUCCESSFUL RELAY
A Miami man was taken into custody after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a
tip and relayed the crime to authorities.
Ethan Roher, 20, of Miami, was charged February 2
with child sexual abuse material -buying/possessing/
procuring; distribution of obscene material or child sexual abuse material, and violation of ok statute via computer, in Ottawa County District Court.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children received a cybertip regarding apparent child sexual abuse
material. That information was then provided to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) for further investigation.
During their comprehensive investigation, OSBI special agents identified the internet
user as 20-year-old Ethan Roher, who resides in Miami, Oklahoma.
On January 22, 2026, the OSBI ICAC Unit and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Predatory Crime Unit located Roher in Miami. Based on the information and evidence obtained
during the investigation, Roher was arrested and booked into the Ottawa County Jail.
Bond for Roher was set at $40,000 and his scheduled appear for his arraignment on
March 6, 2026.

THAT'S METHED UP!
A Brevard County (Florida) deputy was out conducting
proactive patrols in January when he located a vehicle on
a dirt trail at a construction site. When he approached the
vehicle, he made contact with the driver, David Harvey, who
was sitting in the vehicle with a .22 caliber rifle on the passenger seat.
The deputy asked Harvey why he was on the property and Harvey told him he was
hunting and had no other purpose on the construction site. It was then discovered that
Harvey was a convicted felon, and that little addition to his resume prohibits him from
owning or possessing a firearm!!
During a probable cause search of his vehicle, the deputy found approximately 13g of
methamphetamine and glass smoking
pipes!!
Ultimately Harvey was charged with
armed trespassing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of
controlled substance, and possession of
drug paraphernalia and is on No Bond!!
