INTEREST PAYMENT
A Claremore man will be spending the rest of
his life under the watchful eye of the federal government for trying to pay a minor for sex.
David Leon Strickland, 46, was sentenced in
late August for Coercion and Enticement of a
Minor. Judge Russell ordered Strickland to 162
months imprisonment, followed by lifetime supervised release. Upon his release, Strickland will
also be required to register as a sex offender.
“Child predators like Strickland target unsuspecting children through social
media and gaming sites,” said U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. “With the increase
of online access, child exploitation is at an all-time high. Take the time today to
know who your children are talking to online.”
Beginning in November 2017, Strickland admitted to using meth daily and
knowingly began contacting a minor under 18 years old. Via text, Strickland
repeatedly requested the minor victim to engage in sex. If the minor victim complied, Strickland offered to pay the minor.
Strickland will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The FBI, Verdigris Police Department, and Claremore Police Department investigated the case.

CLAREMORE MAN SENTENCED
FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF
INCAPABLE VICTIM
Claremore man Cody Paul Miller was sentenced earlier this month after being found guilty
by a Federal jury in January.
Miller, 47, was found guilty of Sexual Abuse of
an Incapable Victim in Indian Country. A federal
Judge ordered Miller to 138 months imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release.
Upon his release, Miller will also be required to
register as a sex offender.
In July 2023, the 18-year-old victim spent the night at Miller’s house with two
friends, both under 18. The victim and underage minors began consuming alcohol with the Miller. The victim testified that later into the night, she woke up to
Miller sexually assaulting her. She repeatedly asked the defendant to stop, and
he did not. After leaving Miller’s home, the victim went to a friend’s home to disclose what Miller did. After receiving encouragement from her friend, the victim
contacted the police.
When police questioned Miller, he told officers that the victim “got drunk really
fast that night” and even “fell off the bed” because she was so drunk. Miller stated that the sexual acts were consensual and that he stopped when the victim
asked him to stop.
Miller is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and will remain in custody pending
transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The FBI and Collinsville Police Department investigated the case.

THAT'S METHED UP!
A man who went on a shooting spree after he pulled
a gun on an employee at a Burger King in Colorado after the worker refused to accept drugs as payment has
been sentenced to a staggering 143 years in prison.
Eugene Robertson, 40, was convicted by a Colorado
jury on eight counts, including attempted murder with
extreme indifference, felony menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, harassment, reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance, according to an Aug. 15
statement from the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.
According to prosecutors, Robertson pulled up to a Burger King drive-thru window
on Buckley Road in Aurora on Oct. 17, 2022, at around 11 p.m. He tried to pay for his
meal with drugs, prosecutors say, and when the drive-thru employee refused, Robertson
pulled out a gun and pointed it at the worker before eventually driving away.
Not long after that, police responded to a shooting at a 7-Eleven convenience store
across the street from the Aurora Burger King.
“The store clerk said a man walked in and pointed a gun at his head. When the man
noticed a television surveillance camera system, he shot the screen and left the store. In
the parking lot, witnesses reported seeing the man shooting toward another person and
his girlfriend before leaving,” the district attorney’s office said.
No one was injured in the shooting at that convenience store, but just after midnight, as
police were on the lookout for a man matching Robertson’s description, police dispatchers received another emergency call. This time it was a woman calling from an apartment
building on E. Kentucky Avenue, just minutes away from the convenience store.
She said that Robertson was knocking on her door and when she wouldn’t open up,
he opened fire. Multiple people were in the home, but again prosecutors said no one was
injured in the hail of gunfire. Police were searching the grounds of the apartment building
when they spotted Robertson on foot.
He took off into some bushes but was quickly captured and arrested.
Robertson was not a first-time offender. It was reported that prior to the crime spree in 2022, he had
served a sentence of 84 months for felony distribution of crack cocaine, which made it illegal for him to
possess a firearm. The report also noted at the time
of his 2022 arrest, there was an outstanding warrant
in connection with a March 2021 incident in which
he is said to have been involved in a car crash and
shooting before fleeing the scene.

THIS AND THAT
Two Jay men were transported to jail after police
officers found drugs and paraphernalia in an apartment on August 19.
According to the affidavit, a Jay police officer was
dispatched to the apartment in the 200 block of N.
First to investigate a disturbance. When he arrived,
he made contact with 37-year-old Michael Alexander.
Alexander told the officer he didn’t know what was
going on and he didn’t call the cops. Dispatch advised that they were told that Alexander had beat up
a disabled man named John Daktoa Rollins, 24, and
was tearing up the apartment. The officer confirmed
that no one was in the apartment. He made contact
with the reporting party, who said that Rollins told him
that Alexander had beaten him up and there was video showing the assault inside the apartment.
While they were waiting for Rollins to arrive, Alexander told the officer that Rollins was moving drugs for
a couple. He said he moved to Jay in June and had
been living with Rollins.
Rollins arrived at the apartment and showed the
officer and a Delaware County deputy video footage of Alexander pushing him
and him trying to punch Alexander. Rollins said he was tired of Alexander and
wanted him gone. He said they had been arguing a lot and it was no big deal.
Rollins gave investigators permission to search his vehicle and apartment. In a
bedroom in the apartment, an officer found three scales with a crystallized substance that tested positive for meth, a glass meth pipe, a syringe, a metal tray
with a crystallized substance, and a glass bong.
In the living room and kitchen, he found four black scales with a crystallized
substance, a clear plastic jar with a powder substance, a black case with small
plastic baggies, and a plastic baggy containing a substance that tested positive
for cocaine.
Rollins and Alexander are being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, maintaining a place for keeping/selling a
controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rollins’s bond was set at $8,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
October 25, 2024.
Alexander is scheduled to appear in court on September 20, 2024. Bond
information was unavailable at the time of publication.

AROUND THE STATE
The Tulsa Police Special Victims Unit recently conducted
an investigation into multiple reports of sexual assaults by a
massage therapist.
Earlier this month, one victim reported that she had scheduled a massage at Spa Lux Day Spa and Massage with a
massage therapist named Wesley. The reporting victim stated
that Wesley aggressively pulled her hair, applied pressure to
her throat, and exposed and massaged her breasts during the
massage.
The reporting victim stated that the massage therapist also rubbed her stomach and sexually molested her. She reported that the suspect also made sexually suggestive comments toward her. She
reported being in a state of shock, and Tulsa Police were called. The suspect had left the business
prior to Officers arriving on scene.
In May, another reporting victim described a similar encounter. The second victim stated that she
had received a massage at Spa Lux with a massage therapist named Wesley. She reported that
Wesley exposed her breasts, grabbed her genitals, and sexually molested her. The second reporting
victim described being in a state of shock and confusion.
The suspect was ultimately identified as Wesley Adam Cole. OnAugust 27, the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of Rape by Instrumentation against Cole, and he was arrested.
The Special Victims Unit is still investigating this case, and anyone with relevant information can
reach out to the unit directly at 918-596-9168 or at [email protected]
Experiencing any sexual assault is terrifying, distressing and confusing. If you experience a sexual
assault during a massage it is important to realize that whether or not you choose to speak up, your
response is valid. If you feel safe doing so, you can express your discomfort and ask the massage
therapist to stop.
The Tulsa Police Department recommends that you file a police report after any sexual assault
incident so Detectives can investigate and assess the potential for filing of criminal charges.

WATCHER
A 33-year-old Commerce man is facing several
charges after he allegedly threw a rock at a vehicle to
deter witnesses after he stabbed a man back in March.
According to the affidavit, a Quapaw Nation Marshal
Service officer went to the area of Third and Quincy to
investigate an assault on August 11. The victims said
Edgar Uribe threw a rock at their vehicle and was outside of his residence. A woman said that she and a man
were driving by Uribe’s residence then the man threw a
rock and hit the driver’s side door. Uribe also said, “What? Are you gay?”
The man stepped outside of the vehicle to confront Uribe, but Uribe went back inside
the residence.
The man and woman explained that Uribe stabbed the woman’s son with a pickaxe
on their property on March 3. They said the court case was still going on and Uribe had
been driving around their house the night before. They told the officer they believed Uribe
was targeting them since they were witnesses to the stabbing.
The officer had already been looking for the man, as he was a suspect in an assault and
battery that happened in Miami earlier that day.
At approximately 7:08 p.m., the officer was driving by the residence when he saw Uribe
run down the porch toward his patrol car. Uribe threw a metal object across the driveway
toward a shed.
The officer stepped out of his patrol car and Uribe ran toward him. The officer took out
his taser and told him to get on the ground.
Uribe laid down on his stomach, and the officer put the man in handcuffs.
The metal object Uribe threw was a metal kitchen knife.
Uribe is being charged with intimidation of a witness, assault, and malicious injury to
property under $1,000. His bond was set at $11,000, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on September 23, 2024.
