BIXBY MAN SENTENCED TO 540 MONTHS
IN PRISON FOR ROGERS COUNTY MURDER
A Bixby man who killed his stepfather in
Rogers County in 2018 was sentenced September 6 in federal court, announced U.S.
Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge Claire V. Eagan sentenced Kevin Tyler Foster, 36, to 540 months
in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release.
Foster previously pleaded guilty to second
degree murder in Indian Country. On Nov. 15,
2018, Foster drove to a building that housed
a trailer where victim Rick Swan was residing. Foster admitted to entering the trailer and
shooting the victim multiple times, killing him,
then setting fire to the victim’s body.
The victim was discovered by firefighters
who had responded to calls about a fire on
the property. Deputies with the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office were also on
the scene.
According to court documents, deputies learned that the victim and Foster
were involved in an intense “family feud” and that the two were scheduled for
a hearing in Tulsa County District Court the same day. They also learned the
victim had previously told an individual that he was concerned for his safety
because of the “feud.”
Witnesses further reported seeing a vehicle on the victim’s property that
morning, which was the same make and model driven by Foster.
Using cell phone records and surveillance video, Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation agents confirmed that Foster was in the Claremore area at
the time of the murder. A deer camera that had been set up on the victim’s
property was later found that revealed still images of the defendant inside the
building at 10:36 am the day of the crime carrying what appeared to be a firearm. A second image showed Foster carrying a red gasoline can, and another
showed a fire blaze and illumination on the edge of the screen.

FORENSIC GENETIC GENEALOGY HELPS
IDENTIFY WOMAN WITH STARBURST TATTOO
On August 31, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) announced
that a woman found partially
buried on August 31, 2008
near Lake Thunderbird is
identified as Angela Mason.
Mason, who was 25 at the
time, was found partially
decomposed in a shallow
grave at 120th and Alameda. She was discovered
by several fishermen, and
a Park Ranger requested
OSBI assistance with the investigation.
“It is a great day when we can give a victim their name back,” said Aungela
Spurlock, OSBI Director. “Utilizing Forensic Genetic Genealogy is an investment
and is unfortunately not possible to use on every cold case. But for Angela, the
investment paid off. Now our team will continue to work to get Angela the justice
she deserves.”
In August 2021, having exhausted all investigative leads, retiring Director Ricky
Adams approved the case for genetic genealogy testing. Criminalists from the
OSBI Forensic Science Center sent DNA from Mason’s remains to Parabon Nanolabs in an effort to locate relatives. Parabon returned results in March of 2022
identifying a possible relative. Special Agents contacted the relative and asked for
a DNA sample to compare to the victim. The results came back positively identifying Anglea Mason as the deceased. With this critical information, OSBI agents
and analysts have intensified their investigative efforts to determine what happened
to Mason.
Numerous attempts had been made since Mason was found to identify her
including releasing images of her distinctive tattoo, entering her information into
the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), adding her case
to the OSBI Cold Case Cards, reaching out to other departments to review their
missing persons cases, and releasing forensic sketches. The most recent sketch
was released in May 2021 and utilized advanced composite software to generate
an image.
At the time Mason’s remains were located, the Medical Examiner believed the
remains were those of a white female, possibly with Native American heritage, who
was approximately 5’5”, between 30 and 45 years old, and had at least one child.
ME investigators believed she had been buried in the shallow grave between three
and 15 months prior to her discovery.
Mason was 5’6” and was a registered citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She attended Putnam City West High School, was married once, and had four children.
She was last seen in Moore, Oklahoma in the spring of 2008.
Special Agents from the OSBI are investigating her death as a homicide. Agents
returned to the location where Mason was found in June 2022 to reprocess the

AROUND THE COUNTRY
Authorities said the 5-year-old child of a second
suspect drew on police with a loaded shotgun as
his mother was being taken into custody.
A would-be robber pretending to be a stranded
motorist killed a Florida college student who had
pulled his own weapon in self-defense during a
gunfight in Alabama, authorities said.
Adam Simjee, 22, and his girlfriend, Mikayla Paulus — both students at the University of Central
Florida — were driving through Talladega National Forest near Cheaha State Park when they were
flagged down Sunday by suspect Yasmine Hider,
the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Hider said her car had broken down and when
the victims offered their help, she “produced a gun
and made the couple walk back into the woods,”
according to the sheriff.
Simjee then pulled his concealed handgun and
wounded Hider “multiple times” before he too was
shot and then died at the scene, the sheriff said.
Paulus, who was not wounded in the shootout,
called 911 and told authorities there was another
woman with Hider. Searchers eventually found the
suspects’ camp about a half-mile away, where they
had been “living off the grid,” according to the sheriff’s statement.
That’s where police officers and deputies found
second suspect Krystal Diane Pinkins and her young child.
“As officers were ordering the female to the ground a 5-year-old child ran
from the woods holding a loaded shotgun,” the sheriff said. “Law enforcement told the child to put the shotgun down however the child continued to
the female’s location before laying the gun on the ground.”

JEEPERS CREEPERS
A 23-year-old man from Arkansas was caught
trying to steal a vehicle in Grove on September 2.
According to the affidavit, a Grove police officer was dispatched to Rib Crib at approximately
12:57 a.m. to speak with a man who said there
was a suspicious person on Lake Road 3. The
man told the officer that he and his friends were
driving down South Main when a man yelled at
them and asked if they would help jump his vehicle. They agreed.
The man, later identified as 23-year-old David
Arizona Stone, got in the vehicle. He had some
jumper cables in his possession and they drove
to Lake Road 3. Stone directed them to a Jeep.
He tried to open the hood, but he was unable to
do so.
Stone gave the man a blade from a pair of scissors and told him to keep it.
Due to Stone’s description, and a previous encounter in the evening, the officer knew who they were dealing with and positively
identified the suspect.
Stone left the jumper cables, scissor blade, and a pair of pliers with the man, so he
handed him over to the officer. Stone told the man he found them on the side of the
road.
Officers found the suspect on Lake Road 3. Stone said he bought a Jeep Cherokee
from his ex-wife for $200 the day before and was just trying to get a jump. He also
had a key for the Jeep.
An officer checked the vehicle’s VIN number. It was registered to an address in the
100 block of Beehive Drive, which is where it was parked.
The residents at the address said the vehicle wasn’t sold, and no one had permission to be in the Jeep.
The key in Stone’s possession did belong to the Jeep, however, the owner advised
he had left it in the vehicle.
Officer’s placed Stone under arrest and transported him to jail.
Stone is being charged with burglary in the third degree and knowingly receiving/
concealing stolen property. He was scheduled to appear in court on September 14,
2022. Bond information was unavailable at the time of publication.

AROUND THE STATE
A multi-agency investigation has resulted in one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in state history. Mark Woodward, Spokesman for
the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, says an investigation began in July
targeting a drug trafficking organization moving large quantities of meth
from Mexico into central and southern Oklahoma.
“The investigation led to Search Warrants being served this week at several locations where shipments of meth were being stored upon arrival in
Oklahoma.” ---Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman
Woodward says the Search Warrants resulted in the seizure of 589
pounds of meth with a street value of nearly $3 million. Woodward says
this is one of the largest meth seizures in state history. Additionally, four
firearms were seized, and five individuals have been arrested. Woodward
says more arrests are expected as this investigation remains ongoing.
“The significance of this seizure cannot be overstated as meth continues
to kill more Oklahomans than any other drug. This seizure of nearly 270
kilos of meth no doubt saved countless lives throughout our state.” ---
OBN Director Donnie Anderson
Agencies assisting in the investigation include the Oklahoma Bureau of
Narcotics, the Ardmore Police Department, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

VINITA MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR BEING AN
ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT TO A CRAIG COUNTY MURDER
A Vinita man who tampered with evidence
following a murder and provided the killer a
place to stay afterward was sentenced September 1 in federal court, announced U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced Dale Eugene Warren, 66, to 120 months
in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.
“Dale Warren destroyed and discarded evidence following the horrific murder of Christopher Boren in 2019,” said U.S. Attorney Clint
Johnson. “Individuals who help others hide
their crimes or fail to report them should be
prepared to face charges.”
“Thanks to a determined investigation by
the FBI and our law enforcement partners, this
deplorable cover-up of a cold-blooded murder
will not go unpunished,” said FBI Oklahoma
City Special Agent in Charge Edward J. Gray.
“This sentence should serve as a warning that
any attempt to tamper with the justice system
will not be tolerated.”
Warren pleaded guilty on Dec. 1, 2021, to
accessory after the fact to first degree murder
in Indian Country. He admitted that he was with
codefendant Johnny Lee Arnold when Arnold
struck the victim, Christopher Boren, with a small baseball bat and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife, leading to Boren’s death.
Warren further admitted that he disposed of the murder weapon in a
river and provided a hose and water for Arnold to wash away blood and
other evidence from Arnold’s clothes and vehicle. Finally, he said that he
provided Arnold with a place to stay following the murder.
Warren stated that he did not contact authorities about the murder. Warren claimed that Arnold told him that he (Arnold) was a member of the
Aryan Brotherhood and that he had people in 48 states who could get to
Warren if he spoke about the crime.
The victim’s body was found in rural in Craig County.
On May 10, 2022, Arnold, 34, of Langley, pleaded guilty to second degree murder. The plea agreement stipulated that Arnold should serve between 25 and 35 years for the crime. A federal judge will decide whether
to accept the plea agreement and will determine an appropriate sentence
at a hearing to be held at a later time.

Police in Ossining, New York were called to a mini-mart, where they found Blake
Leak, 23, trying to break in. They chased Leak through the streets until both cops took
a tumble. Seizing the opportunity, Leak sought refuge on the grounds of a large building. The building was the Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison, where he was promptly
nabbed by a guard.
Scottish shoplifter Aron Morrison was picked up after pinching a bottle of vodka from
a liquor store. It didn’t take Sherlock Holmes to fi nd Morrison, though. His name and
phone number were left with the clerk—after asking her out on a date.
For a trio of drug thieves, it was their lucky day. They broke into a home in Silver
Springs, Florida, and discovered three jars of cocaine. They took it home and snorted
the contents. That’s when they discovered that the jars were in fact urns and that they
were snorting the cremains of the victim’s husband and two dogs.
Bring Your Child to Work Day is a long-honored tradition that allows children to see
what goes on in the business world while also getting the chance to watch their parents ply their trade. One crook brought his young son along with him on a job, which
happened to be robbing a pet shop. He was caught soon after, minus something important. His son.
As two men waited in line at the coff ee shop to pay their bill, a third cut in front of
them. He threw a drink at the clerk and demanded all the money from the till. Temporarily surprised, the men quickly recovered and handcuff ed the crook. Apparently, in his
rush the criminal didn’t notice they were police offi cers—in full uniform.
Recently, a woman in Fresno, California, was stopped at a DUI checkpoint for being
soused. Ever helpful, she off ered up this info: “My husband’s right behind me, and he’s
even drunker than I am.”
When an attempted robbery at a Lowes Home Improvement store went awry, Milton
J. Hodges fl ed across the street and jumped a fence … right into the Cypress Cove
Nudist Resort & Spa. As the Orlando Sentinel pointed out, “As one of the only folks
wearing clothing,” Hodges was easily spotted by police.
It’s the worst possible time to faint—in the middle of robbing a bank. But that’s what
happened to a Beavercreek, Ohio, thief. The teller called 911 and asked for medics. But
you have to applaud the man’s stick-to-it-iveness. While the ambulance was en route,
the suspect handed a note to the teller demanding all her cash.
Mitchell Deslatte walked into a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, hotel and asked the clerk for
a room. The clerk wasn’t a clerk—he was a state trooper. And the hotel was actually a
state trooper station. That’s when Deslatte was arrested and charged with driving while
intoxicated.

22 | OCTOBER 2022 OTTAWA COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
October is National Domestic
violence Awareness Month
The following is a list of early
warning signs that someone may
be abusive. This list was put together by survivors of domestic
violence who reflected on the early
phases of the battering relationship
and identified some of the early
warning signs of abusers.
Someone who:
• Wants to move too quickly into the relationship.
• Does not honor your boundaries.
• Is excessively jealous and accuses you of having affairs.
• Wants to know where you are all of the time and frequently calls, emails and texts
you throughout the day.
• Criticizes you or puts you down; most commonly tells you that you are “crazy,”
“stupid” and/or “fat,” or that no one would ever want or love you.
• Says one thing and does another.
• Takes no responsibility for their behavior and blames others.
• Has a history of battering.
• Blames the entire failure of previous relationships on their partner; for example,
“My ex was a total bitch.”
• Grew up in an abusive or violent home.
• Insists that you stop spending time with your friends or family.
• Seems “too good to be true.”
• Insists that you stop participating in leisure interests.
• Rages out of control and is impulsive.
Pay attention to the “red flags “and trust your instincts. Survivors of domestic violence frequently report that their instincts told them that there was something wrong
early on but they disregarded the warning signs and didn’t know that these signs were
indicative of an abusive relationship. Always take time to get to know a potential partner and watch for patterns of behavior in a variety of settings. Keeping in touch with
your support system and participating in good self-care can lower your risk of being
involved in an abusive relationship.

HAVING ISSUES
A 42-year-old alleged burglar was caught with stolen property after the owner spotted the man on his
property in the early morning hours of August 30.
According to the affidavit, Miami police officers were
dispatched to a residence on G Street Northwest at
approximately 3:42 a.m. to investigate a burglary in
progress. The homeowner told the officers that he
saw two men near his garage. The pair took off running toward the river before the officer arrived.
An officer noticed that the gate on the north side
of the residence was open. Another officer saw footprints headed southwest toward the river. He found a
man, identified as Brian Douglas Jimerson, near the
river.
Jimerson had a screwdriver and a pair of pliers in
his right pocket. He also had a white bicycle he said
belonged to him. He consented to the officer searching a bag that was on the bike.
The bike also had an attached trailer.
The owner told police that the bike didn’t belong to him, but the trailer did. He said
he kept the trailer in the garage, but the garage door had been forced open on August
29. The bag contained miscellaneous tools that belonged to the owner.
Jimerson told police he bought the trailer from a friend, but he didn’t tell them the
friend’s name. He said he was on the property and his bike was having issues, so he
walked his bike under the carport to repair it. When he saw the owner, he waited a few
minutes before leaving the scene.
Reports state the residence was already under extra patrol for multiple burglaries
reported since June 2022.
Officers placed Jimerson under arrest. On the way to jail, he intentionally hit his head
on the cage.
While inventorying the man’s property, an officer found a metal tool used for picking
a lock. Jimerson told them he used it as a toothpick.
Jimerson is being charged with second-degree burglary after the former conviction
of a felony and possession of burglary tools. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2022.
