THE PERILS OF A
BREAKUP
Oologah man Donald Fariss Schnell, 42, was
put behind bars after a standoff on July 30
involv-ing five different law enforcement
agencies.
According to reports, law enforcement agencies were dispatched to investigate reports of a
man who was suffering a mental health crisis after
breaking up with his girlfriend.
Law enforcement went to the scene on Highway 69 near Collinsville around 3
p.m. Schnell was in his truck when the agencies arrived, but things quickly went
south when the man drove away from the scene.
Schnell came to a stop near 156th Street North on the southbound side of
Highway 169. At some point, he took off again, going the wrong way down the
highway. Schnell drove into a ditch along Caney River before driving back up to
the other side of Highway 169.
During the pursuit, Schnell hit an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper. He also
drove toward a Tulsa County deputy, who fired a few shots toward the suspect.
Law enforcement was eventually able to get the man to stop. He wouldn’t get
out of his truck, however, so they had to fire pepper balls into the vehicle. They
also had to send in a K9 officer after the man.
The standoff came to an end at approximately 6 p.m.
Schnell is being charged with eluding/attempting to elude a police officer
and assault, battery, or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was
scheduled to appear in court on August 13, 2024. Bond was set at $100,000.

SOMETHING BORROWED
A 31-year-old Vinita woman was arrested for
al-legedly borrowing a vehicle and not returning it
after her boyfriend had a flat tire.
According to reports, a couple spoke to a Delaware
County deputy on July 31 and told them that they
had lent their vehicle to a man five days before and it
hadn’t been returned. They said the man had a flat in
front of their house, so he left his truck there and came
back the next day, but he couldn’t fix the flat.
The man’s girlfriend, Lyssa Marie Buchanan, came back with the man. The
husband and wife told Buchanan, who was a student of the husband, that she
and her boyfriend could use their 2003 Crown Victoria to pick up a tire.
The deputy checked the tag on the truck with a flat.
Another deputy went to the residence it returned to, and he found the missing
car on E. 300 Road. Grove police officers and the deputy stopped the vehicle
just south of the intersection at E. 13th Street and Shundi in Grove. Buchanan
and her boyfriend were inside the car.
Buchanan told the deputy that the couple had loaned them the car, and they
were going to take it back.
The deputy advised Buchanan she was under arrest. As he escorted her to
the patrol car, the deputy asked Buchanan if she had anything that would stick
or hurt him. She told him she had a pipe in her bra. The glass pipe contained a
white residue that later field-tested positive for fentanyl.
Buchanan also told the deputy there was marijuana and meth in the vehicle.
Buchanan is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs - fentanyl, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond
was set at $20,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on September 27,
2024.

AROUND THE STATE
On August 4, around 3:50 p.m., Officers were
called out to a burglary at Kultivation Kingz near
Pine and 169 in Tulsa. When Officers arrived, they
found the business had been burglarized and a
large amount of marijuana was stolen.
The owners of the business reported they had
multiple tracking devices inside some of the stolen product.
Officers tracked down some of the stolen goods
at a home near Edison and Gilcrease Museum
Road. When Officers arrived, several individuals were seen unloading plastic
tubs full of marijuana from a U-Haul truck. When the individuals spotted the Officers, they took off running.
At the home, Officers recovered 283 lbs. of marijuana, believed to all be stolen,
a Glock pistol, and $13,000 in counterfeit $20 bills.
Kym Mayberry was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary, Trafficking Marijuana,
and Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
At this time, we know that the stolen marijuana came from at least four dispensaries that were burglarized. One of the dispensaries was able to recover more
than $50,000 in product after the bust.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this case. Anyone with information
about potential suspects related to the burglaries is asked to call Tulsa Crime
Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. You can remain anonymous when calling.
Please reference case 2024-039644.
FYI, please do not contact us and tell us you’ve recently lost 283 pounds of
marijuana and can identify it in person. TPD

AROUND THE NATION
A 39-year-old is charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant, following an officer-involved shooting in East Lubbock.
Lubbock Police were called to the 300 block of
East 37th Street at 9:00 a.m. on August 11th for
a report of a domestic disturbance. Initial information conveyed to dispatch indicated Eliseo Padilla
III was armed with a gun and had destroyed property at the residence.
The responding officer arrived on scene at 9:07 a.m. and found Padilla in front
of the house. Padilla, who was verbally combative, ignored multiple instructions
by the officer to place his hands on a nearby vehicle in order for the officer to pat
him down. After giving multiple commands, and with the knowledge Padilla was
armed with a weapon, the officer deployed less lethal force with his department
issued Taser. Despite the deployment of the Taser, Padilla produced a firearm
and began shooting at the responding officer. In response, the officer drew his
duty weapon and returned fire at Padilla at 9:09 a.m.
The responding officer, who suffered no injuries, immediately notified dispatch
shots were fired and requested EMS. Additional officers arrived on scene and
began dispensing life-saving measures in order to treat Padilla. Upon arrival, EMS transported Padilla to University Medical Center via ambulance with
life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is currently underway by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special
Crimes Unit, LPD’s Office of Professional
Standards and LPD’s forensic unit.
The officer who fired at Padilla was
employed by the Lubbock Police Department beginning in January of 2015.
He is currently on routine administrative
leave per department policy.
Padilla, who remains in critical condition at UMC, was served a warrant for
Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant. His bond is $300,000.

SUSPECT CHARGED IN
PRYOR CREEK SHOOTING
A 47-year-old Chouteau man is being charged
with first degree murder for allegedly shooting a
man in Pryor on July 21.
According to reports, Pryor Creek police officers were sent to the Econo Lodge Motel around
9:29 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When they
arrived at the motel, which is located on the south
side of Pryor Creek, they found the male victim.
The victim had two gunshot wounds to his upper body.
The suspect had already left the area. A witness gave officers a description of
the suspect’s vehicle.
Mayes County deputies found the suspect’s vehicle just north of Chouteau.
They stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as James
Leroy Jackson.
Jackson was placed under arrest.
The victim unfortunately passed away from the shooting.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation started investigating the shooting.
Witnesses told agents that the victim was standing outside of a motel room
when Jackson pulled up to the area in his vehicle. The two men briefly exchanged
some words before Jackson shot the victim. The victim fell to the ground, and
then Jackson shot him again.
During the investigation, authorities determined that the men didn’t know each
other, and there was no kind of altercation or anything before the shooting.
Jackson is being charged with murder in the first degree with deliberate intent.
His bond was set at $3 million, and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 26, 2024.

FROM BEHIND BARS
An investigation launched last month by the
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics’ Human Trafficking Unit and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC) has identified Porter Meadows --AKA
“VP” as a human trafficker involved in the operation of a commercial sex ring.
The investigation determined Meadows has
been facilitating this activity while behind bars,
incarcerated in a DOC facility in Vinita, Oklahoma for narcotics, weapons, and
stolen property charges.
“There are a variety of methods used by inmates to communicate with associates on the outside, allowing them to seamlessly continue to run their criminal operations while behind bars. Associates outside the prison who may have
helped Meadows facilitate the trafficking of victims are subjects of our ongoing
investigation. These associates would help with ads posted on commercial sex
web sites and arrange locations where the sex trafficking took place,” said OBN
Spokesman Mark Woodward
This ongoing investigation has identified multiple victims being trafficked by
Meadows. On July 23, 2024, OBN Agents went to the prison and served Meadows with a Warrant on charges of Human Trafficking and Use of a Computer to
Violate State Statute.
“This is an example of DOC and OBN working together to make a difference
for victims who are gaining courage to speak out against their assailants when
they realize they are not alone,” said OBN Director Anderson.
Citizens and victims can anonymously report suspected Human Trafficking via
the OBN Human Trafficking Tip Line at 855-617-2288.

THEY'RE THE BOMB
Two men from Missouri were booked into the Ottawa County Jail after a state trooper found drugs and
paraphernalia in their possession during a traffic stop
on July 19.
According to the affidavit, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was traveling westbound on Tiff City Road
when he saw a gray truck with no license plate speeding eastbound. The radar revealed the vehicle was
going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The truck was also
pulling a trailer that didn’t have functioning trailer lights.
The trooper stopped the truck and made contact
with the driver, identified as 47-year-old Dennis Alan
Batson. Batson advised that he didn’t have a driver’s
license and he didn’t have insurance verification for the
truck.
The trooper checked the man’s information and
learned that his driving privileges had been revoked out
of Missouri. The trooper also discovered the truck was
registered out of Texas.
The passenger was identified as 55-year-old Mark
Christopher Mitchell.
The trooper advised the men that the truck was going to be impounded. While conducting an inventory
search on the vehicle, troopers found a cylinder containing firework sparklers, commonly referred to as a sparkler bomb, a small metal pipe
containing a green leafy substance, a bottle of rum that was half full, and a loaded handgun. They also found a tea bottle that contained a small cellophane wrapper. Inside the
wrapper, there were small pieces of a white crystal-like substance.
Mitchell said the rum, tea bottle, and metal pipe were his. Batson said the bomb was
his. He also said the gun belonged to his boss.
A criminal history check revealed that both men were convicted felons.
Batson is being charged with possess/display/threaten use of explosive in commission
of a felony after the former conviction of a felony, conspiracy after the former conviction of
a felony, speeding, failure to comply with compulsory insurance law, driving after driver’s
license was denied/canceled, and removing proper or affixing improper license plate. His
bond was set at $17,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 30, 2024.
Mitchell is being charged with conspiracy, trafficking in illegal drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and transporting an open container of liquor. His bond was set at $22,500, and he was scheduled
to appear in court on August 12, 2024.

THAT'S METHED UP!
In today’s episode of “Methed Up” we discuss
once again that if you do meth and run from the
law you will end up exactly like this!! Apparently,
David Helms didn’t get the memo though so he
“Methed Up” and learned pretty quick what happens when you have drugs on you and try to run from Deputies in Brevard
County (Florida)!!
Helms, who by the way could play John Goodman’s stunt double in the movie
“John Goodman Goes Back To High School,” fell asleep at the wheel of his truck
while sitting at the gas pumps at the Merritt Island 7-11 for about an hour, so the
store clerk called to report the suspicious activity!!
After the store clerk called the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Alec Brannon and
Matthew McCarley arrived on scene and made contact with Helms who exited
the vehicle and took off running on foot!! While I’m pretty sure even “Junny”
could have ran him down, Deputies Brannon and McCarly ran him down themselves and tackled him for fleeing from the traffic stop!! Of course, the real reason Helms was running was because he had a bag of meth and a glass pipe in
his pocket and knew that he was just seconds away from taking the ride to jail!!
My favorite part of this story though is that once he was in cuffs, Helm started
screaming and whining like a little baby and continued to be non-compliant, so
he got handcuffed to the stretcher and transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital
where he was medically cleared for priority check-in at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge,
aka jail!!
Helms subsequently got booked into the Brevard County Jail on a total bond
of $4,000 for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Of
course Helms also got a free “I Messed Around
And Found Out In Brevard County” T-Shirt so he
can show all his friends that he “Methed Up!!”
