A Ringling man was arrested after
he revealed he had a very peculiar
hiding spot for his marijuana. Let’s
just say that he liked to keep his drugs
close to his most prized possession.
On Jan. 5, a Stephens County deputy pulled over a vehicle traveling north
on Loco Express Road, because neither occupant appeared to be wearing
a seat belt, the affidavit states.
The deputy made contact with the
driver, Tommy Joe Edgar Jones, 24,
and passenger, Keegan Tyler Ellett,
22, of Loco.
He noticed that both men appeared to have constricted pupils, slow lethargic speech and difficulty having a conversation.
The deputy asked the men if they had recently smoked marijuana or taken any pills.
Jones told the deputy that he didn’t do drugs, and Ellett said
that it had been about a month since he had last smoked marijuana.
The deputy asked if there were any illegal narcotics in the
vehicle — both men said no.
Another deputy brought his K9 to sniff around the truck; the
dog alerted and police began a search of Jones’s vehicle.
Police could smell the odor of recently burned marijuana in
the vehicle, and one deputy found a socket in the passenger
door that contained a burnt residue, which later field-tested
positive for marijuana.
Jones told police that the socket was his and Ellett didn’t
know anything about it.
Both men were arrested, however, due to their behavior and
the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While they were waiting on a wrecker to pick up the truck,
Jones told police, “I guess I need to be honest — I have more
marijuana under my nut sack.”
The deputy un-handcuffed Jones to allow him to retrieve the
marijuana from underneath his family jewels.
Ellett is being charged with public intoxication. He was released on a $500 bond.
Jones is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a $1,000 bond.
Both men — and Jones’s nut sack — are scheduled to appear
in court on Feb. 21, 2014.

A couple of friends were arrested after an
officer caught them speeding and smoking
marijuana on the way back from stealing items
from Wal-Mart and watching strippers do their
thing at a strip club.
According to the affidavit, a Stephens County
deputy was on patrol on Corum Road, south of
State Highway 53, when he observed a vehicle
that appeared to be traveling faster than the
posted 45 mph.
He activated his antenna and clocked the
vehicle traveling at 63 mph. He activated his
lights and conducted a traffic top on the vehicle.
He made contact with the two men in the vehicle. The driver identified himself as 20-yearold Devin Dually Waitman-Brewer of Temple,
and the passenger identified himself as Duncan
resident Jay Kyle Drewery, 21.
The deputy noticed the faint smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. He also
found that Waitman-Brewer had a suspended
driver’s license and a valid warrant through Stephens County.
The deputy placed Waitman-Brewer under arrest and conducted
an inventory of the vehicle. He found two small baggies that contained a green leafy substance, a desktop computer, home theater
system, Wi-fi router, clothing, DVDs, Airsoft pistols, network cable
and a cell phone case. The items had an approximate total value of
$900.
Waitman-Brewer agreed to speak to the deputy and told him that
Drewery had been in possession of the car for four hours and had
returned with the items.
Drewery told the officer that he and Waitman-Brewer went to a
strip club, then went to Wal-Mart in Lawton.
Drewery said Waitman-Brewer began putting items in the shopping cart. Even though Drewery said he didn’t believe that his buddy
had enough money to purchase the items, he placed a pair of underwear and an Airsoft pistol in the cart “under peer pressure.”
He then said he walked out the front door while Waitman-Brewer
escaped through the fire exit and placed the stolen items in the vehicle.
The deputy told Waitman-Brewer that he was being dishonest and
asked him which Wal-Mart he had stolen the items from.
He admitted to stealing the items exiting through the fire exit.
Both men are being charged with knowingly concealing stolen
property and possession of a controlled dangerous substance and
their bonds were both set Waitman-Brewer is scheduled to appear in
court on March 5, 2014, and Drewery is scheduled to appear in court
on March 12, 2014.

A Duncan woman was taken out of her grandmother’s home for doing drugs by police after
her grandmother called police and told them she
didn’t want her granddaughter living there anymore.
According to the affidavit, a Stephens County
deputy was dispatched to the grandmother’s
residence on Jan. 7. When he arrived, the grandmother met him and told him that her granddaughter, identified as Kalli Leigh Thomas, 19,
was passed out on the couch in the basement strung out on drugs.
She handed the deputy a marijuana pipe she had taken from her
granddaughter and told him that she did not want Thomas in her
home anymore and wanted the deputy to ask her to leave.
The deputy went to the basement and saw Thomas passed out on a
couch in the basement.
He shined a flashlight in her face to get her attention after calling
her name failed to rouse her from her slumber.
The deputy identified himself and told Thomas he was there because
her grandmother did not want her staying in the home any longer.
Thomas said “OK,” and started putting on clothes.
The deputy asked about the pipe that her grandmother had given
him, and she said that it was hers.
Thomas was speaking in slurred speech and her movements were
lethargic. The deputy asked her if she had smoked marijuana.
She told him no, that she had smoked spice. She added that spice
was left in the pipe.
The deputy asked her if she had anything illegal in the basement,
and she told him no, she had smoked it all.
The deputy saw an open and empty bag of Ice Dragon Kush lying
on the table.
Thomas told him that is what she had smoked two hours before he
arrived.
Thomas is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She
was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
March 5, 2014.

James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), is providing the following public service announcement:
The public is advised there is currently a fraudulent
phone and e-mail scam targeting Oklahoma utility customers. Customers have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be with the utility company’s billing
department. The caller advises the customers they have a
past-due balance, and if they do not provide credit card or
bank account information, their service will be remotely
terminated.
Customers have also received e-mails stating their bill is
now available and that the amount owed is past due. The
e-mail instructs customers to click on an embedded link to pay the past-due bill. The public
is advised this is a fraudulent phone and e-mail phishing scam.
This type of fraudulent solicitation is not unique to utility companies, and similar scams
have been attempted using banks, government agencies, and numerous other legitimate
businesses. Individuals should not provide any information or click on the embedded links.
Individuals who receive suspicious or unsolicited phone calls or e-mails should contact their
service provider or the involved business directly to verify the validity of the request.

Another New Year has come,
and with it, millions of people have
made resolutions to improve some aspect of their lives. Some of
these resolutions are doomed from the start for a multitude of
reasons. Even though successfully sticking with and accomplishing
a New Year’s resolution goal may not seem to directly relate to
driving safely, I’m going to try and give some tips on increasing
your ability to stick to a resolution, and tie it in to how it could
actually make you a safer driver!
Some of the more popular resolutions are to lose weight, get in
shape, or quit smoking. Each one of these are great goals. So to
achieve a goal, a person must clearly define the actual goal. For
quitting smoking, that one is pretty clearly defined as it is. For the
other, some more clarity is needed. How much weight do you want
to lose? How long are you giving yourself to get there? Once you
define these goals and time lines, write them down somewhere! Put
them somewhere that you are reminded of them each day. Make
sure your goals are reasonable, and attainable. It won’t do any
good to set goals that are unrealistic!
Next, we need to write down how exactly we plan to accomplish
our goals. For smoking, are you going cold turkey, using the patch,
or incrementally cutting down how many cigarettes you smoke a
day until you aren’t smoking at all? For losing weight, write down
your workout program, and schedule. Write down your diet goals
and track it religiously. Try to find someone who will join you in
your workouts and diet. Having someone to count on and someone
counting on you is a great support system for you in your efforts.
Last, tell as many people as you feel comfortable. Get people on
your side to support you, and hold you accountable to your goals
when you have moments of weakness! Believe in yourself! Have a
positive attitude about what you are trying to accomplish.
So how do accomplishing these goals help you be a safer
driver? Studies have shown that people who exercise and eat
right have sharper mental focus. Since a significant percentage
of accidents are caused due to inattention, improved focus will
obviously pay off while driving! Exercise will help improve handeye coordination, which is a big positive while driving! A healthy,
smoke-free body minimizes the risk of heart attack and other
medical issues that could be tragic anytime, not just behind the
wheel.
So there you have it. Successful accomplishment of some of
the most popular New Year’s resolutions will not only have you
slimmer, healthier, and happier, but can have an impact on your
ability to be a safer, courteous driver! Thanks for reading, buckle
up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A former Rogers County Commissioner who spent time in prison is in
trouble with the law again.
Deputies arrested Randy Baldridge
on Jan. 7.
Tulsa police say a witness has accused Baldridge of picking up runaway
boys and giving them drugs, sometimes
in exchange for sexual favors.
Someone else told police that Baldridge had given him methamphetamine and he later woke up naked in a
field.
TPD turned over the investigation
to Rogers County since the allegations
were centered there.
The Rogers County THUG task force
took him into custody. They say he had
a 16-year-old runaway from Tulsa with
him at the time.
The two were at a Rogers County
home where deputies say they found syringes in the boy’s backpack that tested
positive for containing methamphetamine.
Deputies say they got permission to
search Baldridge’s vehicle and found a
glass smoking device, several syringes
and a silver spoon, all with a white,
powdery substance on them that also
tested positive for meth.
They say all this was found less than
200 feet from the Tiawah Elementary
School.
An affidavit says
Baldridge admitted
supplying teenage
boys with meth, but
he first claimed he
bought it as a way to
keep the boys from
going into those
kinds of places.
It says he originally denied using
meth himself, but later admitted, with
tears in his eyes, that he did use it.
This appears to be a long downward
spiral from where Baldridge was when
voters elected him to be a Rogers County commissioner.
However, in 2007, a federal jury
found him guilty of money laundering,
mail fraud, obtaining money by fraud
and other counts and a judge sentenced
Baldridge to 37 months in federal prison.
The sheriff says when Baldridge was
released from prison, he came back to
Rogers County, got a job and things
were quiet until his office received these
recent complaints.
The affidavit says a second teenage
runaway boy has been at Baldridge’s
home many times, for long periods of
time, but he was dropped off at a Tulsa
house and deputies are still searching
for him.

FAILURE TO COMPLY W/ORDER
Jan. 8 was quite the day for
Courtney Dale Plumb. The
31-year-old Alex man ran into a
tree with his car, took some pills
from a residence, stole a safe from
his girlfriend’s parents and peed
on himself.
According to the police report,
Chickasha police were dispatched
to the area of 14th and Iowa in
reference to a car striking a tree.
When they arrived, a witness directed them to a different residence where the suspect car was
located. When police arrived at that residence, they saw a
vehicle parked under the carport; the car had front damage consistent with striking a tree.
While an officer was looking at the car, Plumb walked
out of the back door carrying a safe.
The officer made contact with Plumb and smelled alcohol coming from Plumb’s breath and person. He also
noticed that Plumb’s pants were wet in the groin area, he
was unsteady on his feet, and his eyes were glossy.
The officer asked him if he had arrived in the car; Plumb
said yes, and admitted to hitting a tree in his aunt’s yard.
The officer asked if the residence they were at was his
and Plumb said no, it was his other aunt’s house and he
had permission to be there.
Plumb admitted to drinking a few beers, but said
he hadn’t had anything to drink since his accident. He
changed his story and told them his girlfriend had told
him to go into the residence, which was her mother’s
house, and take the safe.
The homeowner arrived on the scene and said that
Plumb did not have permission to enter the residence.
Plumb’s girlfriend arrived and told police that she did not
tell Plumb to steal the safe, and he had no reason to go
into the house.
Plumb agreed to take a breath test and was transported
to the police station.
While waiting for the test, Plumb peed on himself.
The man who couldn’t control his bladder seemed to
have a change of heart because during the test, he told
police, “I change my mind,” and, “Y’all are f------ stupid.”
Plumb is being charged with driving under suspension,
burglary in the second degree and driving a motor vehicle
while under the influence of alcohol. His bond was set at
$10,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Feb.
12, 2014.

Apparently her hair color is not the only questionable decision that Tammy Lynn Whygle, 34,
has made lately.
The Chickasha woman, described as “an older
lady with bright purple hair,” was arrested on
Jan. 1, after she entered another woman’s apartment without permission.
According to the affidavit, a Grady County
deputy was dispatched to Tiger Safari in Tuttle,
in reference to a burglary in progress.
The deputy spoke to a witness, who said Whygle had entered an apartment on the business
premises. He said Whygle was a former employee of the park.
The deputy spoke to the victim, who said that Whygle had entered her
apartment and told her she was looking for her wallet. The victim said
that Whygle had no reason to be inside the apartment, nor did she have
permission to enter any building on the property.
The victim said Whygle fled when she confronted her. The victim also
described Whygle as an older lady with bright purple hair.
This apparently wasn’t Whygle’s first visit back to the park to steal
something. The witness added that there was a red suitcase in the parking lot full of items that had been previously stolen from the park.
Luckily for the deputy, there aren’t a lot of purple-haired women walking around the state of Oklahoma. Whygle wasn’t hard to find.
During a traffic stop for Whygle’s boyfriend, Jason Mark Mathews, 32,
Oklahoma City, police recovered the items that had been stolen from the
park, including a toolbox, a tranquilizer gun, power tools and a camera.
Mathews’s purple-haired lover walked up during the stop. She did in
fact, have bright purple hair.
Whyglie and Mathews were both arrested and transported to jail.
Mathews is being charged with possession of stolen property. He also
admitted to dropping Whygle off at Tiger Safari for the first burglary. He
is being held on a $10,000 bond.
Whygle is being charged with first-degree and second-degree burglary.
She is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Both Whygle and Mathews are scheduled to appear in court on Feb.
12, 2014.

Reports of crime in the neighborhood
can make one feel uneasy. The affected
community may work to rebuild
its sense of security by hiring more
police, improving street lighting, and
imposing strict curfews. In addition
to this, community efforts to reduce
poverty and provide better educational
opportunities for all community
members can help eliminate crimes of
desperation and strengthen the fiber of
the community.
To eliminate crime entirely, wouldn’t
we also need to address other issues
that cause criminal behavior? Wouldn’t
we need to address things such as
dishonesty, disrespect, greed, and hatred that seem to come from
within individuals? As Jesus pointed out, “Evil thoughts come out
of the heart” (Matthew 15:19 New International Reader’s Version).
To end criminal behavior, we need to reach the heart of people with
the healing touch of divine Love.
Jesus’ life, recorded in the Bible, shows us how to love as God
loves. This spiritual love changes people’s hearts. Knowing that
God is only good and is the true Father and Mother, the governing
Principle, of all humanity, Jesus looked beyond the erring human
personality to discern the pure and perfect spiritual identity of an
individual. Jesus loved – deeply appreciated and acknowledged –
this true identity. When he met Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector,
Jesus loved him as God had created him, looking beyond his corrupt
behavior to perceive reality – Zacchaeus’ honesty and uprightness
(see Luke 19:2-8). This perfect love reached the heart of Zacchaeus
and changed his behavior. He pledged to return the money he had
taken unlawfully, recompense for the wrong he had done, and
reestablish his life on an honest foundation.

Not freezing in the cooler
Robert Vick, a 42-year-old inmate who escaped from Blackburn
Correctional Complex in Lexington, turned himself back in less than
48 hours later when he decided jail was better than freezing to death.
According to police, Vick escaped from a minimum security facility
in Lexington Sunday, however, the plan quickly backfired when he
encountered an unexpected dose of cold weather.
Local wind chill temperatures were 20 degrees below zero Monday
in Lexington, according to weather reports. Vick would have been
dressed in prison issued khaki pants, a shirt and a jacket, according
to Department of Correction spokesperson, Lisa Lamb.
As temperatures dropped between Sunday and Tuesday morning,
Vick reportedly walked into a motel and asked the clerk to call
police. He reportedly told the clerk that he wanted to turn himself in
because it was too cold outside.
Arriving officers called in paramedics to check Vick out before he was returned to Blackburn,
said Lexington police spokesperson Sherelle Roberts
“This was definitely of his own volition,” said Roberts. “It’s cold out there, too cold to run
around. I can understand why the suspect would turn himself in.
Vick was serving a six-year sentence for burglary and criminal possession of a forged
instrument when he escaped.

A Tuttle man with a penchant for whiskey
and a warrant out of McClain County was
taken into custody in Grady County near State
Highway 92 for drunk driving.
According to the affidavit, an Oklahoma
Highway Patrol trooper was helping a vehicle
that was having trouble on Jan. 7, when the
occupant of the vehicle told him that her boyfriend went to get gas for the car.
The trooper looked down the road and saw a
man walking. He drove to the man and picked
him up. Apparently, another driver had already
picked him up and dropped him off, because the man told him that a guy
in the pickup that had picked him up didn’t want to come down there.
The trooper saw the truck turn down County Road 1210 and drive
westbound.
The trooper dropped the man off and saw the same truck drive by
northbound on State Highway 92.
He noticed that the truck’s tag was expired due to its orange 2013
sticker.
The trooper stopped the truck and asked the driver to step out of the
vehicle.
He asked him for his driver’s license and identified the man as Mark
Wayne Hart, 55.
Dispatch advised the trooper that Hart had a felony warrant for his
arrest out of McClain County.
The trooper placed handcuffs on Hart. He could smell the odor of alcohol on Hart’s person and told him so. Hart admitted to drinking two
beers.
The trooper told Hart that he smelled like whiskey, and Hart told the
trooper that he had consumed whiskey the night before.
After a breathalyzer confirmed that Hart was intoxicated, the trooper
placed Hart under arrest and conducted an inventory of his vehicle.
He found an open bottle of whiskey underneath the seat.
Hart is being charged with driving under the influence. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb.
11, 2014.
