Comanche man Johnny Ray Griffith, 26, allegedly broke
into a man’s home and messed up his truck on December
30.
The victim said he didn’t have a clue why Griffith was
there. Griffith said the victim owed him money.
According to the affidavit, a Duncan officer was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Hackberry shortly after
midnight to take the report. The victim said Griffith approached him when he was walking to his front door. He
thought that was weird, because he didn’t know Griffith
very well.
Griffith appeared “agitated,” so the man said he ran into
his house and locked the door. He grabbed a gun and heard
Griffith hitting his car, then hitting his front door.
Griffith forced his way into the home, but when he saw
the victim’s gun, he ran back outside.
Another officer stopped Griffith’s vehicle at 5th and Elder. While they were speaking, a transmission from the police radio described a wrench that
Griffith was supposed to have. In response, Griffith excitedly said, “Yeah, and he pointed a
gun at me!”
The officer looked through the window of Griffith’s truck and saw a large wrench. He placed
the man under arrest.
Griffith told police a different story. He said he went to the residence to get some money
the victim owed him. A woman let him in, but he said when he confronted the victim, the
victim told him he didn’t have any money and he needed to leave.
Griffith said he left the residence. He denied forcing his way into the house or damaging
the victim’s vehicle.
An officer told Griffith that the two men’s stories didn’t line up. He asked Griffith why
the victim borrowed money from him. Griffith replied, “Probably for drugs.” He then said
he “forcefully” confronted the victim about the money, but he refused to elaborate. He told
police the victim went to his room. Thinking the man was going to grab a gun, Griffith said
he ran outside and got a wrench from his truck. He told the officer he threw it at the victim’s
vehicle, striking the rear window. He denied that the victim ever pointed a gun at him.
Griffith is being charged with malicious injury to property under $1,000 and breaking and
entering dwelling without permission. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on March 1, 2016.

A jaded Duncan man allegedly
broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and attacked her while she was
in the bathtub on December 20.
22-year-old Dylan Mark Elroy told
police he lived there, and he didn’t
think anyone else was home.
He was lying.
According to the affidavit, Duncan
police were dispatched to an apartment in the 400 block of S. 27th shortly after 3 p.m. due to an assault. When
they arrived, they saw Elroy walk out
of the apartment. It was obvious the
apartment’s door had been kicked in.
The victim, who was visibly shaking and had injuries to her face,
told police she was taking a bath when Elroy kicked down the front
door and forced his way into the bathroom. She said he then grabbed
her and forcibly removed her from the bathtub.
The woman was covered in bruises, red marks, scratches and bite
marks that she blamed on Elroy. She said she recently broke up with
Elroy and was ignoring his calls and texts. She showed an officer a
text from Elroy that said if she didn’t answer his calls, he was going
to kick in her door and break her windows.
Elroy admitted to kicking in the door, but he said he lived there
and forgot his keys. He didn’t think anyone was home.
The apartment manager told police that the victim had just moved
in, and no one else lived with her.
Elroy then changed his story and said he had some stuff in the
apartment that he wanted, and the victim wouldn’t answer her
phone. He also admitted to injuring the woman – but he said it happened during sex, not an assault.
Elroy is being charged with burglary in the first degree. His bond
was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 17, 2016.
Dream on…

Hitchhikers from OKC, 40-year-old Amy Suzanne Monasco and 32-year-old Terry Lee Floyd,
allegedly carjacked a man who picked them up
and took his truck to the casino on December 16.
The thieving duo blamed the assault on the
victim.
According to the police report, a Stephens
County deputy was dispatched four miles east of
Highway 81 on Elk shortly after 7 a.m. because
there was a man lying in the ditch covered in
blood. The man told officers he believed he was
shot by two hitchhikers that he picked up; he
said they attacked him and took his truck.
When the officer arrived on scene, he found a
pool of blood just west on the victim’s residence.
The Lighthorse Police Department found the
stolen truck near the Winstar Casino in Thackerville. Monasco and Floyd were inside the vehicle. They were arrested and transported to jail.
Monasco told officers that the victim picked them up south of Duncan. The victim drove them to his residence, and he started making
comments that made Monasco feel uncomfortable. Later, she said
the victim and Floyd started fighting.
Floyd told police he felt threatened the victim. The victim showed
him his guns, and told him that “people were not going to leave
alive.”
Floyd said he grabbed a rifle and hit the victim several times in the
head, knocking him unconscious. Floyd said he hit the man several
more times with the same gun, in an attempt to keep him knocked
out. Monasco said she then grabbed the victim’s keys and ran out of
the house. The couple took off in the victim’s truck and went to the
casino.
Monasco and Floyd are both being charged with conjoint robbery,
assault and battery by means of force likely to produce death and
larceny of automobile. Their bonds were set at $2.5 million, and they
are scheduled to appear in court on February 17, 2016.

Chickasha man Alex Jordan Jolley,
21, went to jail after he admitted to
stealing some stuff from his work and
selling it on January 5. He told police
he needed the money.
According to the affidavit, Ninnekah police were dispatched to the
500 block of Quail Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. to investigate a burglary. A
man on scene told police that Jolley
sold him some stolen items.
Suspecting that the welder and
chainsaw had been taken from the
business, the man said he took them
to the victim and asked if they were his. The business owner said
yes.
The victim called Jolley and asked him to come back to work. Jolley arrived shortly after 6 p.m. When officers confronted him, he
was quick to admit that he had stolen some stuff from his place of
employment and sold the items to a man. He said he took two welders, a chainsaw and some copper grounds.
Jolley told the officer he was having financial problems, and he
needed to sell the items for money. He said his employer hadn’t
been paying him for his work or if he did, the checks bounced. He
told police where they could find the items he had yet to sell.
Officers found a welder in a shed at Jolley’s residence. They also
found a red bench grinder that the victim had mentioned was missing from his business.
Jolley was arrested and transported to jail.
Jolley is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property
and grand larceny. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled
to appear in court on February 10, 2016.

Chickasha man Derreck Anthony
Newsom, 19, was arrested December
31 after he started yelling at an officer
when the office drove by. A struggled
ensued, and it ended with a broken
nose and a jail cell.
At approximately 7:47 p.m. on the
last day of 2015, an officer was traveling
south in the 600 block of S. 16th Street.
According to the affidavit, Newsom
was walking on the side of the road.
For some reason, he thought it would
be a good idea to harass the officer. He
yelled things such as, “F--- you!,” and
“F--- the police.”
When the officer stopped his patrol unit to see what was going
on, Newsom approached him in an aggressive manner. It appeared
the man had started celebrating the new year a little too early – he
reeked of alcohol.
Newsom refused to put his hands behind his back. Three officers
later and the man was in handcuffs. He wasn’t done fighting, though.
He tried to kick out the window of the patrol car.
When an officer opened the door to tell him to stop, Newsom
jumped out of the car and tried to head butt an officer. Other officers
were able to subdue him – or so they thought.
Newsom played nice for a couple of seconds until he had his
chance again. He head butted another officer, breaking the officer’s
nose. Newsom also managed to injure other officers on scene.
The drunk, unruly man was eventually transported to jail and

A December 27 car chase and foot pursuit ended when a Chickasha officer found
the suspect hiding on a roof.
When the officer asked 32-year-old
Shaune Dale McConnell to come down,
the man went crazy and said he wasn’t going back to prison.
But, he was.
According to the affidavit, the officer
saw the suspect’s car in the 1000 block of
N. 16th at approximately 1:35 a.m. One of
its back lights wasn’t working. The officer
tried to conduct a simple traffic stop, but
the suspect wasn’t having it. Instead of stopping, he accelerated and
turned east onto Vermont.
While trying to turn north onto 9th, the suspect lost control of the
vehicle and landed in a ditch.
The chase was still on, though.
The suspect, later identified as McConnell, jumped out of the car
and ran behind a residence in the 1200 block of N. 9th. The officer
found him on the roof of the house. When he told the man to come
down, McConnell called the cop a “f------ pig,” and said he wasn’t going back to prison. He then ripped off his shirt and continued to yell.
The officer climbed onto the roof; McConnell jumped down and
took off running. It wasn’t long before another officer apprehended
him.
McConnell continued to yell and fight, but he was no match for the
officers. They placed him in handcuffs and transported him to jail.
During an inventory of the man’s vehicle, police found a stolen
gun, an unused syringe, a smoking pipe with a burnt residue that
smelled like marijuana, and a digital scale.
McConnell is being charged with possession of firearms after conviction or during probation, knowingly concealing stolen property,
eluding/attempting to elude police officer and unlawful possession
of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on January 21, 2016.

James Allen Coddington
James Allen Coddington,
39, of Choctaw was
convicted of murder and
sentenced to die in 2003 for
the 1997 beating death of
Albert Hale, 73. Authorities
said Coddington beat Hale
on the head with a hammer
because Hale wouldn’t give
him money to buy drugs.
The appeals court
overturned Coddington’s original death sentence, but a
diff erent jury imposed another death sentence in 2008.
The court’s opinion said jurors at Coddington’s second
sentencing trial found that Hales’ death was atrocious
and cruel and that Coddington posed a continuing threat
to society.
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the
death sentence.
