We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Oh, to be young again…
Police have arrested a high school
sophomore after they learned she gave
them a false name and is actually 31
years old.
KLTV reported the Longview, Texas, investigation found Charity Anne
Johnson is 31.
Johnson was enrolled at New Life
Christian School as “Charity Stevens.”
School officials said a person claiming to be her guardian brought her to
enroll.
She gave the school a fake birth date
that would have made her 15.
The school discovered her false identity Tuesday.
She has been at student at the school since October 2013.
Resident Tamica Lincoln said Charity told her she was 15 and
needed a place to stay back in March.
“I sympathized with her and invited her into my home,” Lincoln
told KLTV. “I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and
shoes.”
Lincoln said Charity claimed she was abused by her biological father and that her mother was dead.
Lincoln told KLTV she acted as Charity’s guardian and even met
with Charity’s 10th grade teachers at New Life Christian School.
“I just don’t know why she did it,” Lincoln said. “Why put yourself
and others at risk to do something like this? I have deep concerns
about her being who, we don’t know she is, and then she’s out there
at the school.”
Lincoln said she called police and went straight to the school as
soon as soon as she realized Charity was using a fake identity.
“Teachers were crying and students were crying and her best friend
just couldn’t believe it,” Lincoln said.
Johnson was arrested for failure to identify/giving false, fictitious
information.
KLTV said she is in the Gregg County Jail on $500 bond.

Duncan man Harold Brant Gentry, 53,
tried to conceal the fact that he was in possession of marijuana by hiding the drugs
the best way he knew how: eating it.
This gives “high munchies” a whole new
meaning.
On May 5, a Stephens County deputy
pulled over Gentry at Highway 7 and
Hummingbird Lane due to a defective
headlight.
According to the affidavit, when he made
contact with Gentry, he noticed the odor of
marijuana.
The deputy asked Gentry to step outside in an attempt to see if
the smell of weed was coming from the vehicle or Gentry’s person.
The deputy returned to his patrol vehicle and wrote Gentry a
warning for the headlight. When he gave Gentry the warning, he
could still smell marijuana, but he noticed that the smell appeared
to be stronger.
He asked Gentry when he had last smoked marijuana. Gentry
told him just before he left work.
Gentry then told the arresting officer, “There is no marijuana in
my truck — you can look. I smoked it before I left work.”
The deputy started to search Gentry’s truck, noting that the
smell of marijuana wasn’t as strong as it had been when he was
talking to Gentry.
While he was searching, another deputy that had been speaking
to Gentry yelled at him. He told him that the reason the stench of
weed was so strong around Gentry was because Gentry had eaten
the marijuana.
The deputy told Gentry to stick his tongue out. When he did, the
deputy saw what appeared to be chewed up marijuana. He asked
Gentry how much he had eaten. Gentry told him “just a joint.”
Gentry is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. He was released on a $1,500 bond and
is scheduled to appear in court on July 18, 2014.

Mary Elizabeth Morgan Pewitt, 25, was found inside her
residence in Comanche, on June 4, 1988. A divorced mother of
two, Mary worked at a local bar and had closed the establishment
around midnight June 3. After driving over to the bar owner’s
house where she dropped off the day’s proceeds, she returned
home where she was met by a boyfriend. Mary and her boyfriend
visited for a short while before he left the residence, becoming
the last person known to have seen her alive. It was shortly after
the boyfriend’s departure that investigators believe someone
entered the house and viciously stabbed Mary to death. Mary
had recently been involved in a volatile relationship regarding
child support. On the night she was murdered, Mary’s children
were not at the home because they had spent the night with Mary’s parents. The OSBI
did not enter the case until 1997 when the agency asked to assist the Comanche Police
Department.
Mary’s family is holding an event June 4, 2014 in Comanche at Jackson Park. It is a
celebration of Mary’s life and a rally for justice for her. For more info on the event, and to
sign a petition, go to Change.org and search Mary Pewitt.
If you have any information on this case, please call the OSBI at (405) 848-6724 or the
Comanche Police Dept. at (580) 439-2211.

Duncan man Kevin Dewayne Marshall,
26, was caught engaging in illegal activities at a Duncan church on May 9, after he
set off the church’s alarm.
According to the affidavit, a Duncan police officer responded to the alarm call at
the church near 17th and Chisholm. When
he arrived, he drove to the back of the
building and saw a man on a bike leaned
up against the back wall of the church.
When the suspect saw the officer, he
attempted to ride away to sweet freedom on his two-wheeled
chariot.
The officer, however, wasn’t about to let him get away.
The officer turned on his lights and followed him. Marshall
didn’t pull over, so the officer pulled alongside the bike.
He told the man, later identified as Kevin Dewayne Marshall,
26, to stop. Marshall ignored him and continued to ride south
before slowly coming to a stop. He jumped off the bike and
turned away from the officer. The officer noticed that Marshall
appeared to hide something in the bushes. He told Marshall to
turn around, but Marshall refused. The officer grabbed his arm
and placed him in handcuffs.
Another officer arrived to assist, and he found a Crown Royal
bag in the bushes. Inside the bag was a syringe and a baggy containing a white crystal-like substance that later tested positive
for methamphetamine.
Marshall is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on June 25, 2014.

criticism or cruelty because of
your faith, Jesus explains why:
“’If the world hates you, keep

If you belonged to the world, it

it is, you do not belong to the

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
As the summer heat increases,
and rains seem to be a few and far
between for much of the state, fires
are becoming an everyday occurrence across Oklahoma. Many of
these could be prevented, and this month I’ll re-visit a few ways to
cut down on the possibility of inadvertently starting a fire that may
destroy lives and property.
One of the things Trooper’s see almost every day is the cigarette
toss out the window. For some reason, people don’t want to
extinguish their cigarettes and put them in an ashtray in their car;
they just flick them out the window. What you are saying when
you do that is, you don’t care about the people in that area, or their
property. Every time you throw one of those out, you take a chance
of starting a fire that can devastate a community. If you smoke,
use an ashtray or some type of container in your car to keep your
butts in, don’t throw it out. If a Trooper sees you throw one out,
expect the very expensive citation that comes with that charge!
Another thing that has started fires are things like safety chains
on trailers being too long, and dragging on the pavement. This
causes sparks, which is all it takes to get our drought-stricken grass
to burn. Also, keep bearings greased, as a seized bearing has been
known to spark and cause fires. Be careful driving a car through
tall grass, as the catalytic converter on cars gets hot enough to
catch grass on fire.
OBEY THE BURN BAN! Yes, this means you! No reason that
you can justify burning trash, brush piles, having a campfire, or
open grill will be adequate to the people who lose a home when
it gets out of control. If you are violating a burn ban, you are
telling your neighbors that you just don’t care about them or their
property.
Also, be alert and aware of what is going on around you. Arson
is certainly a cause of several wildfires across our state. Alert
motorists can help catch an arsonist before they do too much
damage, but only if you are a good witness. Try to get a good
description of the person, their vehicle, a tag if possible, clothing
they are wearing, etc, and try to get that info to law enforcement
as soon as you can! You could be the difference between someone
losing a home or just having a close call.
Lastly, go and thank a firefighter or law enforcement officer for
the work they have been doing recently. These men and women
are battling every day to save lives and property, and getting people
out of harm’s way, in extreme conditions. I know that many of you
donate water and food, and on behalf of all of us in the Emergency
Response community, we thank you for that! Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!

A Waurika man wreaking havoc on fellow drivers was arrested in
Comanche on May 11 for driving under the influence.
According to the affidavit, a state trooper was in a convenience
store parking lot when a citizen approached him and said that a black
truck had run him off the road when he was driving northbound on
U.S. Highway 81. The citizen added that the suspect had just driven
through the intersection of U.S. 81 and state Highway 53.
It wasn’t long before the trooper located the suspect. He pulled up
to the passenger side of the truck and turned on his emergency lights
to conduct a traffic stop.
The driver made eye contact with the trooper, put the truck into
reverse and drove backward for a short distance before putting the
truck into drive and taking off.
The trooper turned on his siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver wasn’t
stopping. A Comanche police officer saw the trooper pursuing the truck, and he joined the
chase.
The officers pursued the truck, and the Comanche officer was able to block the truck to
prevent the driver from going any farther.
Police ordered the driver of the vehicle, identified as Billy Joe Clark, 77, to turn off the
truck’s ignition at gunpoint.
Clark appeared to be very confused, and he didn’t follow the command. The trooper was
able to reach inside and turn off the truck before pulling Clark out of the vehicle.
According to the arresting officer, it was “quickly apparent” that Clark was severely intoxicated. Clark smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot watery eyes, had very slurred speech
and wasn’t able to stand up without holding onto his truck for balance.
The trooper asked Clark what was wrong with him, and Clark told him he wasn’t sure.
Clark admitted to drinking and told the trooper that he had been drinking “all kinds” since
morning.
Due to Clark’s severely intoxicated state, the trooper was unable to conduct sobriety tests.
Clark agreed to the state’s breath test and registered a 0.25 blood alcohol level. According
to the police report, Clark had two prior DUI arrests.
Clark is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol
and attempting to elude police officer. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on June 25, 2014

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

The couple that uses meth together goes to
jail together.
Police say Rebelee Dawn Dollar, 44, and
Bennie Hershel Dollar Jr., 51, were arrested
after they admitted to using drugs in their
Chickasha home.
According to the affidavit, a Chickasha police officer visited the Dollars’ home on May
6 after police received complaints that drugs
were being used at their residence.
When he arrived, he spoke to Rebelee Dollar who he knew was on misdemeanor probation. She gladly consented to a search and
told him that there was “nothing illegal” in
her house.
On a nightstand in her bedroom, the officer located pieces of foil with burnt centers
commonly used for smoking methamphetamine and a straw with a white powdery residue. He also found a longer piece of straw in
her backpack.
Rebelee Dollar told the officer that she
and her husband smoked together in their
bedroom. She added that she was “trying to
clean up,” but had used two days ago.
Bennie Dollar admitted to using meth “about two weeks ago.” He
consented to a search, and the officer located a hand-rolled cigarette
in his cigarette pack. Mr. Dollar told the officer, “That’s a joint.”
The officer tested a piece of the foil, and it tested positive for methamphetamine. The substance in the hand-rolled cigarette tested positive for marijuana.
Both Dollars are each being charged with possession of a controlled
dangerous substance. Rebelee Dollar’s bond was set at $25,000, and
Bennie Dollar’s bond was set at $10,000. They are both scheduled to
appear in court on June 4, 2014.

Not many people wear fanny packs anymore, but when they do, they just might be
hiding something suspicious.
Apparently, no one told John Frederick Hutchinson that fanny packs were so
90s, because the 56-year-old Purcell man was caught wearing one with a plethora of
illegal items inside.
Maybe he just likes to keep his drugs within reach.
According to the affidavit, Chandler police were advised on April 11 that Hutchinson,
who was wanted on a Lincoln County felony warrant, was walking southbound on
Dewey wearing a fanny pack. Police located a man that matched the description of
the suspect walking southbound on Iowa north of Eighth Street. They made contact with the suspect
and positively identified him as Hutchinson, and placed him under arrest for his warrant.
Before placing Hutchinson in the patrol vehicle, the officer conducted a search and asked him if he
had anything the officer needed to know about. Hutchinson admitted that he had marijuana in his
fanny pack.
That wasn’t the only thing.
Hutchinson told the officer where to locate the drug. The officer bravely went where not many have
gone before — inside another man’s fanny pack to locate the weed.
The officer found a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana, two packages of rolling
papers, a syringe and three lighters.
Someone was ready to party out of his fanny pack.
Hutchinson is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $3,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on May 1, 2014.

A Chickasha man arrested for a felony warrant claimed that he was “almost 100 percent sure” that he didn’t
have anything illegal on him.
He was wrong.
According to the affidavit, a Grady
County deputy went to a residence in
the 1200 block of S. 13th to place Brandon Paul Petalcu, 22, under arrest for
a felony warrant on May 9. The deputy
made contact with Petalcu and placed
him under arrest. He asked Petalcu if
he had any illegal substance or weapons on his person prior to
placing him in the patrol vehicle. Petalcu told him no.
On the way to jail, the deputy again asked Petalcu about illegal substance. According to the arresting officer, Petalcu told
him, “I am almost 100 percent sure I don’t have anything on
me.”
It was the “almost” that Petalcu should have been worried
about.
The deputy advised him that if any illegal substances or
weapons were carried into the jail, he could face additional
charges. Petalcu told the deputy that he understood, but he
didn’t have anything illegal or dangerous on his person.
During booking, a detention officer located a small bag in
Petalcu’s front pocket. Petalcu told police it was just “a little
bit of weed” he had forgotten about. The officer retrieved the
bag and visually identified the substance inside as marijuana.
Petalcu is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on May 30, 2014.

A drunk and disorderly Chickasha man’s alcohol-fueled night
ended with sedation in the hospital.
On May 1, a Chickasha officer was dispatched to the area of
11th and Ohio Avenue due to a fight in progress.
According to the affidavit, he spoke with a woman who said
her fiancé, Jacob Dewayne Woods, 21, was drunk and she was
attempting to get him to go back home. Woods was in a vehicle
and kept yelling at the officer, “They hit me!”
Woods was bleeding from his mouth and had fresh injuries on
his stomach and chest. The officer noticed that Woods appeared
to be highly intoxicated: he smelled of alcohol, had red bloodshot eyes, and was speaking in extremely slurred speech.
Witnesses told the officer they saw Woods and another subject
fighting in the street. They said the other subject ran off, and Woods took off walking south
before returning with a shotgun.
The witnesses said Woods pointed a shotgun at them and threatened to shoot them.
Although it seemed Woods believed the witnesses to be the people he had been involved
in the altercation with, there was no indication that they had been in a fight with Woods,
according to the officer.
Woods’s fiancé told the officer Woods had been drinking all day. At one point, he heard
someone outside and went to check. She said he and the person outside started arguing. A
short time later, Woods returned and grabbed a shotgun before going back out the door.
She said she followed him in her car and tried to get him to go back home.
The officer placed Woods under arrest and transported him to jail. Once at the jail,
Woods refused to walk. He became “very uncooperative, belligerent and actively resisted
all efforts to restrain him.” It took several jailers to control him.
The jail nurse advised the officer that Woods needed to be medically cleared.
The officer transported Woods to the hospital for his injuries, but Woods just couldn’t
seem to be nice to those helping him. He threatened and insulted police officers and hospital staff. Woods was extremely disruptive and volatile until he was sedated with medication.
Woods is being charged with threatening to perform an act of violence and carrying a
firearm while under the influence. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on June 6, 2014.
