A man who shouldn’t have even had a gun
was caught spotlighting on Feb. 5.
But don’t worry; he wasn’t spotlighting on
the road.
According to the affidavit, a Stephens County deputy was dispatched to CR 187, near State
Highway 89, to investigate a report of someone shining a spotlight.
The reporting party told the deputy that he
had seen a four-wheeler drive in front of his
house, shining a spotlight. He added that a
truck drove past his house a little bit later.
About an hour after that, the deputy located
a four-wheeler and a truck near the Jefferson County line.
A man, later identified as Jesse Wayne Weaver, 31, of Healdton, was
kneeling beside the four-wheeler. A female was sitting in the truck
The deputy asked him what he was doing.
Weaver told him he was “just driving around” on the four-wheeler.
Weaver kept putting his hands in his pockets; the deputy asked him if
he had any weapons on his person.
Weaver told the deputy he had a knife, so the deputy conducted a pat
down search of Weaver.
Along with the knife, the deputy found a glass smoking pipe with a
white residue that later field-tested positive for meth.
The deputy approached the truck to speak with the female. As he did,
he noticed a black rifle barrel poking out from under a coat. The woman
told him that it did not belong to her, but Weaver had placed it in her
vehicle when she came to help him air up the tires on his four-wheeler.
Weaver agreed to speak to the deputy and told him that he was hog
hunting and had the gun with him while he was driving his four-wheeler. He said he had been spotlighting, but “not ON the road.”
Weaver admitted that he was a convicted felon, had a previous conviction for possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony,
and had initially lied to the deputy because he didn’t want to go to jail
again.
Unfortunately for Weaver, his plan didn’t work and the deputy transported him to jail.
Weaver is being charged with possession of firearm after former conviction of a felony. He was released on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on March 7, 2014.

An angry Comanche man was arrested after he
threatened to kill and attacked officers after they
served him with a protective order.
According to the affidavit, Stephens County police went to a Comanche residence on Jan. 31 to
serve a protective order and warrant on 38-yearold Danny Keith Mott.
When they arrived, a deputy went to the door
and made contact with Mott. Mott refused to open
the door and told police to slide the protective order under the door.
The deputy explained that he couldn’t do that,
and Mott finally opened the door and grabbed the protective order.
He closed the door quickly, but not before police visually identified him as
Mott. Another deputy advised Mott that he had a misdemeanor warrant for
his arrest.
Mott eloquently told police to “go the f--- away,” and if they came in his
house, he was going to kill them.
A deputy read a portion of the warrant to Mott and told him they had to
take him to jail. He added that if Mott didn’t come out willingly, police were
going to go in and get him.
The officers were forced to kick down the door and saw Mott standing in
the living room holding a 2-3 feet long 2x2 club.
Mott wasn’t going down without a fight.
Mott started swinging his club, and a deputy deployed his Taser, but
missed. Mott continued to swing the club, and at one point, stepped toward
police and told them to shoot him.
Another deputy deployed his Taser and told Mott to get on the ground.
Mott replied, “If you tase me, I’ll kill you, mother f-----.”
Mott threw the club at the deputy’s face, and the deputy deployed the Taser, striking Mott in the chest. Mott fell to the ground and after a few seconds,
stopped resisting.
Police placed Mott in handcuffs as he yelled, “You’re a dead b----!” to officers.
Mott is being charged with battery upon an officer after former conviction
of a felony. His bond was set at $7,500, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on March 19, 2014.

Kenneth Eugene Hogan
Kenneth Eugene Hogan, 52, was pronounced
dead at 6:13 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2014, after he
received a lethal injection at the Oklahoma
State Penitentiary in McAlester.
On the morning of Jan. 28, 1998, Lisa
Stanley was at home after her husband
George Stanley left for work. Hogan met Lisa
in church and she often babysat for Hogan
and his wife. Hogan arrived at Lisa’s house
around noon. Hogan and Lisa began to argue,
and Hogan stabbed her 25 times with a large knife, cutting his
hand in the process. After the stabbing, Hogan remained in the
apartment and arranged things to look as if someone else had been
fi ghting with Lisa and burned the evidence containing his blood.
After initially avoiding detectives, Hogan confessed a week later
during an interview with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
He confessed after being advised his wife had told police that
Hogan had asked her to lie about his whereabouts on the day of
the murder. According to detectives, the defendant showed no
remorse.
Prior to this case, Hogan committed lewd molestation of a minor
and various burglaries. He also enlisted a minor to sell marijuana
and threatened coworkers and their families.
Hogan was initially convicted and sentenced to death in 1988.
After successful federal appeals, Hogan was retried and again
sentenced to death in 2003.
“Kenneth Eugene Hogan was sentenced to death by a jury of his
peers for the heinous stabbing of Lisa Renee Stanley, who was
a young wife and a promising student,” Attorney General Scott
Pruitt said. “My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa’s family and
friends.”

A young Marlow man was arrested for
armed robbery on Jan. 27, after robbing a
convenience store at gunpoint.
According to the affidavit, a Marlow police officer was dispatched to the store, located in the 700 block of S. Broadway on
Jan. 25. The cashier told him that she had
been working alone that night and a male
that she suspected to be in his early 20s had
robbed her at gunpoint with a long gun. Police reviewed surveillance footage and set
out looking for the suspect.
On Jan. 27, police went to a residence in the 400 block of W.
Chickasaw. They made contact with two men and told them they
were checking with residences near the convenience store to see
if anyone had seen or heard anything the night of the robbery.
One of the men advised the officer that he was missing a rifle,
and had been missing it since the morning of the robbery.
The officers asked the men to go to the station to review surveillance footage. The men identified the robber as 21-year-old
Holden Blake Pair.
One of the men said that Pair had bragged to them that night
that he had robbed the store. The men said they thought he was
joking.
An officer made contact with Pair on a cell phone, and asked
him to come to the station to give a statement.
Pair came to the station, and according to the police report,
was very cooperative.
He admitted to committing the armed robbery. The officer
asked him why he had robbed the store, and Pair told him because he had been high on Xanax pills and he wanted to see if he
could get away with it.
Pair voluntarily took police to recover the rifle and clothes
used in the robbery.
He was later booked into the Stephen’s County Jail.
Pair is being charged with first-degree robbery. He is being
held on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
March 12, 2014.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

differently… He might not even remember it, which is no excuse, because he made the choice to drink.
Ashley P: What kinda drugs is

Mentally ill or super high. Either
way, I bet he has shown signs of

Rusty A: Doubt he was defending her since it says he stabbed her

Scott F: Reading comprehension is key here, Lanie. The guy
attacked his sister and murdered
another, and needs to be dealt with
appropriately.
Deborah J: Who stab the sister?....Castro or Mendoza???
Will T: read what it said. it was
his brother in law he killed and he
stabbed his sister..!!
Andrea G: Yeah he won’t be

Police said they have one man behind bars after they
found a man dead in the street, beaten with a baseball
bat and a skateboard.
Tulsa police arrested 28-year-old Pedro Castro after
they said he left his brother-in-law dead in the drive- way.
Authorities said they believe Castro murdered
34-year-old Juan Mendoza with a skateboard, baseball
bat and possibly a knife.
Tulsa authorities said they arrested Castro about
10 minutes after they arrived when they found him ridding the same
skateboard allegedly used in the fight.
Police said the altercation started as an argument between Castro
and his sister.
Officers said he stabbed her in the stomach and hand.
Alcohol may have fueled this altercation; police said Castro was in- toxicated.

A Duncan man tried to hide his stash
from police during a traffic stop, but he was
unsuccessful and taken to jail.
A Grady County deputy was parked on
Highway 81 south of CR 1500 on Feb. 7
when he saw a vehicle driving southbound
that appeared to be traveling faster than
the posted limit of 70 mph.
After confirming that the man was driving 78 mph, the deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver,
Leonard Mathew Watts, 21.
As Watts handed the deputy his driver’s license, the deputy noticed that his hands were shaking and he appeared to be very nervous.
The deputy returned to his car to check Watts for warrants and as
he was waiting to hear from dispatch, he noticed Watts was leaned
over the center console and appeared to be reaching for something.
Dispatch advised that Watts didn’t have any warrants, and the
deputy returned the driver’s license to the subject. The deputy
asked Watts if there was anything illegal in the vehicle; Watts said
no.
Watts gave the deputy permission to search the vehicle, and the
deputy asked Watts to exit his car.
The deputy asked if he was going to find anything illegal in the
car; Watts changed his story and told the deputy that there was
some “weed” in his car.
The deputy asked where it was, and Watts told him that he his
the marijuana under the center console.
After searching the vehicle, the deputy found a plastic container
under the console. It contained a green leafy substance that fieldtested positive for marijuana.
The deputy placed Watts under arrest and transported him to
jail.
Watts is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance. He was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on March 7, 2014.

The Bible clearly teaches that
Christians are not to worry. In
Philippians 4:6, we are commanded,
“Do not be anxious [do not worry] about
anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God.” In this Scripture,
we learn that we should bring all of our
needs and concerns to God in prayer
rather than worry about them. Jesus
encourages us to avoid worrying about
our physical needs like clothing and
food. Jesus assures us that our heavenly
Father will take care of all our needs
(Matthew 6:25-34). Therefore, we have
no need to worry about anything.
Since worrying should not be a part of a believer’s life, how does
one overcome worry? In 1 Peter 5:7, we are instructed to “cast all
your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” God does not want us
to carry around the weight of problems and burdens. In this verse,
God is telling us to give Him all of our worries and concerns. Why
does God want to take on our problems? The Bible says it is because
He cares for us. God is concerned about everything that happens
to us. No worry is too big or too small for His attention. When we
give God our problems, He promises to give us the peace which
transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Of course, for those who do not know the Savior, worry and
anxiety will be part of life. But to those who have given their lives
to Him, Jesus promised, “Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest
for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew
11:28-30).

A couple was arrested in Chickasha for having drugs and paraphernalia around their
6-month-old baby.
According to the affidavit, a Chickasha police officer executed a search warrant at a room
in a local hotel on Feb. 7.
During the search, the officer found a glass smoking device, a homemade foil pipe and a
green leafy substance that the officer recognized as marijuana. The glass pipe field-tested
positive for methamphetamine.
The occupants of the room, 30-year-old Jennifer Lynn Walck, Chickasha, and 28-year-old
Frankie Drew Bunnell, Ninnekah, obviously had questionable parenting skills, as they had
been staying there with their baby.
Bunnell refused to talk to police. Walck didn’t refuse, but she told police that she wanted
to know what kind of questions they were going to ask her before she made her decision.
A K9 came to the scene and conducted a free air sniff around Bunnell’s vehicle. The K9
alerted; inside the vehicle police found a tin with a residue that field-tested positive for
methamphetamine in the baby’s diaper bag.
The couple was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
Walck is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a child. Her bond was set at
$5,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on March 7, 2014.
Bunnell is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor. His bond was set at
$20,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 5, 2014.

A Tulsa man has been convicted and sentenced to 35 years for child abuse and pornography,
following an investigation by the Attorney General’s Internet crimes agent and the state’s
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Aaron Leon Howk, 26, pleaded guilty to seven felonies, five counts of distributing child
pornography and single counts of sexual abuse of a child and manufacturing child pornography.
In accordance with a plea agreement, a Tulsa County judge sentenced Howk to 35 years in
prison for the sexual abuse, which involved a family member. The victim was 4 years old when
the abuse occurred.
Howk must serve at least 85 percent of his 35-year prison term before becoming eligible for
parole. He received concurrent 20-year terms on the pornography counts.
On March 28, a search warrant was served at Howk’s residence by task force members from
the AG’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation ICAC Unit, the OSBI Computer
Crimes Unit and the Edmond, Guthrie and Tulsa police departments.
While conducting the investigation, AG’s investigators received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children, alleging Howk was distributing child pornography on an online photo sharing site. FBI agents
also contacted investigators with information about Howk trading child pornography online.
“Oklahoma families face a real and growing threat from Internet predators. By investigating and prosecuting these
types of crimes, we are sending a clear message that the abuse of our most vulnerable will not be tolerated,” Attorney
General Scott Pruitt said. “The Internet crimes task force has been a great success, and my office will continue to work
with local law enforcement to safeguard Oklahoma families.”
The Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force includes more than 60 partner agencies, including
the OSBI and the Attorney General’s Office. Members are specially trained to investigate the exploitation of children
through the use of technology.

A Cyril woman did her best not to let police in the men’s
room where she was hiding from them, including locking both
locks and pushing the door with her feet. The strong arm of the
law prevailed, both literally and figuratively, and police were
able to bust down the door and take the forging fugitive to jail.
According to the affidavit, a Chickasha police officer was
contacted on Feb. 3 in reference to a fraud report. A woman
told him that Melinda Kay Scott, 41, had picked up her prescription without permission. Scott had allegedly lied and she was the victim’s mother.
During the victim and the officer’s conversation, the pharmacy called and said that
Scott had paid for the prescription with a stolen check.
The officer spoke to an employee at the pharmacy who told him that Scott came in
the store often. After he left the pharmacy, dispatch advised the officer that a woman
had locked herself in the bathroom at Love’s.
He went to the convenience store and told him that when he had been in the store
earlier getting a drink, a woman had ran into the men’s restroom and locked herself
in there.
They reviewed the surveillance footage; the officer saw a woman who looked like
Scott in the video. When he walked through the front door on the footage, Scott
ducked down and ran to the men’s restroom.
The employee told police they could force the door open because she didn’t have
a key.
Police tried to make contact with the woman in the men’s room, but she refused
to answer.
Although Scott had locked both locks on the door and was holding the door shut
with her feet, police were able to break the door down and take her into custody.
She told police that the victim’s boyfriend’s mother had given her the check and
told her to pick up the prescription.
The owner of the check said she realized one of her checkbooks was missing the
night before, and Scott did not have permission to use her checks.
Scott is being charged with second-degree forgery. She was released on a $5,000
bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 5, 2014.
