When Duncan man Jeromy Hawk Avery, 21, became angry at
his sister-in-law and her husband on February 9, he allegedly attacked the woman. Police arrived right before he went after her
husband with a crowbar.
According to the police report, a Duncan officer was dispatched
to the 1200 block of S. 9th Street for an assault at approximately
7:46 p.m. A woman at the residence told him her sister and her
husband brought her and her boyfriend some food. When they
arrived with some McDonald’s, the sister told the woman that
she could no longer bring them food. Apparently, Avery wasn’t
working to provide for his household, and it was causing problems between her and her husband.
Well, Avery heard this and the man went berserk! He charged
the sister and threw her against the door. She yelled at her husband to call the police, but this didn’t faze Avery. He pulled out a knife and told her he would
cut her throat before the police got there. Avery then pushed the woman outside, but her foot
got caught in the door and she couldn’t leave; she was stuck. Her husband called 911 and gave
her the phone.
When Avery saw that the couple was calling the police, he grabbed a crowbar and raised it
to hit the man. Right then, officers swarmed the scene and stopped Avery from hurting the
man. He was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
Avery is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. His bond was set at $25,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 10, 2016.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Rush Springs man Derek Wesley Holt, 37, and his Marlow companion were arrested after he allegedly rammed into a police car
on January 31.
According to the affidavit, a Grady County deputy was dispatched
to the intersection of Country Street 2780 and County Road 1520
at approximately 4:45 p.m. due to a trespasser. He asked dispatch
to send a Rush Springs officer since he was in Chickasha.
Shortly after, the deputy was advised that the suspect vehicle
had just rammed the officer’s car. The deputy went to the location
and found the vehicle stuck in some sand.
Officers on scene already had the female passenger detained --
she told police a loaded firearm was in the car.
Holt, however, locked himself in his car and refused to come
out.
After several verbal attempts to get the man to exit the vehicle,
officers broke the driver’s and passenger’s side windows. The deputy pulled the man out of the vehicle and told him to put his hands
behind his back.
Holt refused.
An officer tased the man, but he continued to refuse officer commands. Eventually, the Taser won and Holt was placed in cuffs.
In the man’s vehicle, police found a loaded gun, multiple syringes, lighters, a spoon-like object, a glass straw with a black residue
and a syringes filled with a clear liquid. The syringes and straw
tested positive for methamphetamine.
The woman with Holt was identified as 22-year-old Destanie
Renee Campbell. She told an officer that she had a drug addiction and used methamphetamine.
She was also arrested and transported to jail.
Campbell is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance. Her bond
was set at $5,000.
Holt is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of
controlled dangerous substance and obstructing officer. His bond was set at $70,000.
They are both scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2016.

assault on police officer
Chickasha man Derik Michael Kallstrom, 25, was arrested after a Walmart
employee caught him trying to steal
some makeup and a razor on February
4.
But, don’t worry – the man said he
was going to pay for some of the items.
A Chickasha officer was dispatched to
the store in the 2000 block of S. First
Street at approximately 9:52 a.m. Dispatch advised a tall man was sticking
makeup in his backpack.
En route, an employee told the officer
the man had just taken an electric razor
from a box and put it in his pocket.
The officer met with Kallstrom and the employee in the Lawn
and Garden Department. He asked Kallstrom if he had any merchandise in his pockets. Kallstrom said no.
The officer asked for permission to search the man – the suspect
agreed.
The officer found the charger for an electric razor and a silver
lighter in the man’s pocket. He asked the employee if the lighter
was taken from the store. Before he could answer, Kallstrom admitted that it was Walmart’s lighter.
The officer also found a plastic wrapper containing 22 white pills
in the man’s pocket and four pills in his backpack – he identified
them as hydrocodone.
All together, Kallstrom allegedly tried to steal $250.87 in merchandise.
When they arrived at the jail, Kallstrom told the officer he was
going to steal some of the items and pay for the others.
Kallstrom is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and larceny of merchandise from retailer. His
bond was set at $42,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
March 9, 2016.

Minco woman Davelon Jean Finch, 62, took her anger out
on her ex-lover’s new woman by ramming her Jeep into the
woman’s car on January 30.
According to the affidavit, a Minco officer was dispatched
to the 800 block of Caddo to investigate a disturbance at approximately 3:19 a.m. The caller said Finch was drunk and
banging on the door – the woman also jumped in her yellow
Jeep and started ramming another car.
As the officer was heading west on Main at the intersection
of Sixth, he saw a yellow Jeep with an expired paper tag. He
stopped the vehicle at NW Second and Main. Sure enough,
Finch was behind the wheel and she reeked of alcohol.
The officer asked her to step out of the vehicle and inquired
where she was coming from. She said she just left her daughter’s in Gracemont. When the
officer asked her if she had been drinking, she admitted to consuming “about 3 drinks.”
There were some things she wouldn’t admit to, though.
The officer told her that someone had called 911 and reported she was hitting a vehicle with
her Jeep. She replied, “I would never do that.”
The woman was unsteady on her feet and couldn’t walk without losing her balance. She
agreed to sobriety testing, but the officer decided not to go through with the test because
Finch almost fell down. He placed her under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
The officer spoke to the couple who reported the disturbance. They told the officer Finch
was banging on the house, windows and doors. The man said he and Finch used to date, and
she was jealous of his current girlfriend.
The woman said she heard a big bang and when she looked outside, she saw Finch ram the
Jeep into her car, causing it to push into the ball hitch on the man’s truck.
The ex-lover was transported to jail and locked up.
Finch is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol,
malicious injury to property under $1,000 and leaving scene of accident involving damage.
He was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 4, 2016.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt announced charges
filed against a Claremore nurse for the neglect of an
elderly resident.
Brianna Lynn Parks-Farris, 30, of Chelsea, worked
as a Certified Nurse Aide at Autumn Wood Memory Care in Claremore. A resident of the facility was
found in the hallway, soaked in urine and with a deep
gash on her elbow. Parks-Farris stated she checked
on the resident at the beginning of her shift, but had
been overworked and unable to check on the resident
again. However, cell phone records showed ParksFarris using the Internet and texting during that
same time period. It is alleged Parks-Farris later admitted she never checked on the resident during her shift.
Parks-Farris is charged with one count of neglect by caretaker. If convicted, ParksFarris faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of $10,000.

What you’re saying about this on...
Shawn M: Welcome to America where he should’ve taken chemicals that
alter the chemical balance of his body instead of smoking a plant that has 0 ill effects. But hey, I’m sure the state is enjoying the revenue its generating by kidnapping children and splitting homes.
Victoria Z: This is outrageous. What these CPS state officials are doing to this family and these kids is awful. State is doing more harm than good
to these kids. This shows these children the sacrifices their father and his family
made mean nothing to them and that they can’t trust authority figures. Truly sad
state of affairs there. These people were in the middle of moving to another state.
The state of Kansas has wronged this family
Tara D: This is bs. If the government would wake up and see how much
med mj can help and get this country outta debt. This family needs and deserves
their kids back. While true drug addicts heroin or meth heads get to keep Thiers
and those children are truly in danger.
Tadpole S: This is what our vets have to come home too. this is shamefull.
Carmen R: Get it in the media every way possible and see how fast Kansas acts.
Michael M: I moved from Oklahoma to Colorado. Oef/0if vet. I legally
grow my meditation.
Laney M: This is an outrage!!!!!
Amanda M: I hope that a really good lawyer sees this and helps that
poor family.
Wendy S: Infuriating, sickening, disgusting...I could go on and on.
Lisa G: Sad that our troops go through such crap after serving our country.
Merwin J: The people in power do not use common sence. Money talks
bs walks there. Welcome to kansas.lol
Taecia J: Complete bullshit.
TA H: 30 years as a LEO this pisses me off in many ways. Our current and
former military personnel get treated like sh*t, I talk a lot of sh*t about the potheads always acting like they give a sh*t about medical weed when all they really
give a sh*t is about getting high, they don’t give a sh*t about kids with ass cancer!
But I am all for medical weed and wish they would just legalize it all over to free
up our penal institutions, more money is wasted by fighting the war on pot then it
would be just to enforce it same as alcohol.
Natasha S: Sad what our troops go through
Norma C: Horrible!
Raymond Schwab, an honorably discharged veteran, moved to Colorado
last year to get treated for post-traumatic stress and chronic pain with medical
marijuana.
He didn’t expect Kansas would take
his children in return.
“They’re basically using my kids as a
pawn to take away freedoms I fought
for,” he said. “It’s a horrible position to put me in.”
He and his wife, Amelia, say Kansas took the five youngest of their six children
into custody last April, and they’ve only seen them three times since.
“I don’t think what we’re doing is illegal, immoral or wrong,” Amelia said.
The Schwabs’ case highlights how differences in marijuana laws can make a legal user in one state an unfit parent across the border.
They’re not the only Kansas parents at risk of losing their children over cannabis use. In Garden City, medical marijuana advocate Shona Banda was arrested
on child-endangerment and felony drug charges after her 11-year-old son talked
about his mother’s drug use at school.
Kansas has rejected legislative efforts to permit medical marijuana use. Colorado legalized medical marijuana, then passed a referendum that allows recreational
use as well.
Child welfare officials in Kansas did not return phone calls concerning the
Schwabs.
Raymond Schwab is a 40-year-old Gulf War veteran. He served from 1994 to
1996 in the Navy and later qualified for a 50 percent disability rating.
He lived in Colorado when the state legalized medical marijuana and obtained
his own card.
He also tried to treat his symptoms with an assortment of medicines prescribed
by the Department of Veterans Affairs — pain medicines, muscle relaxants, antianxiety drugs — but “they were making me crazy, they made me worse,” he said.
Finally he developed a heroin addiction, but said he overcame that years ago
with cannabis therapy.
The turning point in his family life began with a VA job offer in 2013. He went to
Topeka to work as a benefits agent for fellow veterans.
“I loved it. I loved my job,” he said tearfully.
But two years later, he decided to transfer to a VA job in Denver, where medical cannabis is legal. That’s when a family squabble led to the loss of five children
aged 5 to 16.
Raymond and Amelia say that as they were packing to leave, her mother took the
kids to a police station in another county and reported them abandoned, an action
her mother now regrets.
Nine months later, they say, child-protection workers and a Kansas judge are
demanding that they give up cannabis if they want their kids back.
One condition, they say, is four months of drug-free urinalysis tests, including a
drug legal in Colorado for therapeutic uses.
Raymond remains skeptical and worried. “What if I didn’t make it through four
months?” he asked. He fears his condition might worsen without cannabis.
He and his wife question why Kansas child-protection workers are holding onto
children who should not have entered their system in the first place.
Among the documents Raymond carries in a battered briefcase is the one-page
result of a Kansas child-abuse investigation.
It shows that in April 2015, the state began investigating allegations that Raymond and Amelia emotionally abused all five children. Three months later, those
allegations were dismissed as unsubstantiated.
So, “why do you still have my children?” he asked.
