Duncan Police arrested a woman who
went berserk threatening to kill them,
EMT personnel, and her boyfriend.
Natasha Perry, 39, was charged with assault on an emergency medical technician
and assault on a police officer in Stephens
County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, officers
were dispatched to a home just after 1:00
a.m. on July 18 in the 1300 block of W.
Hickory to help out an ambulance crew.
A violent and belligerent woman at the
scene began threatening and attacking
them after she had worked over her boyfriend with a pair of scissors.
When Officer Jason Downs arrived at the home, he saw Perry chasing her boyfriend across the street screaming at him that she was
going to kill him. Officer Davidson arrived on scene and while both
officers were trying to separate the two, the boyfriend alerted the officers that she had a pair of scissors in her hands. Downs ordered Perry
to drop the scissors, but she refused. When she was threatened with
force, she threw the scissors at Officer Davidson.
Perry was taken into custody, but she didn’t go down easy. She kept
yelling she was going to kill the officers and thrashed about.
The boyfriend told Davidson that Perry had stabbed him with the
scissors but didn’t want anything done about it. The officer observed
several scratch marks on the boyfriend’s neck and a laceration on his
body. When Davidson recovered the scissors, they appeared to have a
small amount of blood on the end of them.
An EMT reported Perry came after them with the scissors. They
also saw Perry on top of her boyfriend swinging the scissors at him.
At the Stephens County Jail, Perry was so resistant she had to be
strapped to a chair by the jail staff in order to control her in the facility.
Perry was released on a $5,000 bond later that day. Her preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.

Michael Dewayne Smith
Michael DeWayne Smith was a member of the
Oak Grove Posse, a subset of the Crips gang in
Oklahoma City. On November 8, 2000, three
members of the Oak Grove Posse attempted to rob
Tran’s Food Mart in south Oklahoma City. The
three robbers were Teron “T-Nok” Armstrong,
Kenneth “Peanut” Kinchion, and Dewayne
“Pudgy-O” Shirley. During the course of the
robbery attempt, the owner of the store shot and
killed Armstrong. Kinchion and Shirley were
eventually arrested. Smith was not involved in the
attempted robbery but had close personal ties to
Armstrong.
On Friday, February 22, 2002, two days before
the trial of Kinchion and Shirley was scheduled to start, Smith left his apartment in
the Del Mar Apartments in Oklahoma City early in the morning. His roommate,
Marcus Berry (also known as Marcus Compton), saw Smith take a .357 caliber
revolver with him. Smith went fi rst to Janet Moore’s apartment looking for her
son Phillip Zachary who he believed was a police informant. Smith had earlier told
Berry that “snitches need to be dead.”
The evidence supports the conclusion that Smith arrived at Moore’s apartment
sometime before 6:30 a.m. Shoe prints indicated that Smith kicked in her front
door and then her bedroom door. Moore began screaming, and, at approximately
6:30 a.m., a downstairs neighbor heard arguing between a man and a woman and
then a single “pop” followed by footsteps.
Later that morning around 7:30 a.m. Smith arrived at A-Z Mart, a convenience
store approximately fi fteen miles from the Del Mar Apartments. A-Z Mart was
immediately next door to Tran’s Food Mart, the site of the earlier robbery attempt
where Armstrong had been killed. The clerk on duty that morning at A-Z Mart
was Sarath “Babu” Pulluru. Pulluru was fi lling in for the store owner who was
taking the day off . Smith told detectives that he emptied two pistols into Pulluru,
took some money, and used bottles of Ronsonol lighter fl uid to start fi res in the
store. Smith said he set fi re to the cash register, Pulluru’s body, and a back room
in order to destroy evidence. Shoeprints at the scene tracked Pulluru’s blood from
the cash register area, where his body was found, down the aisle to where the
Ronsonol lighter fl uid was displayed for sale. The bloody shoe prints at the A-Z
Mart were similar to the shoe prints found at Moore’s apartment.

“If anyone is caught in a sin, you who

Galatians 6:1
A 34 year-old Duncan woman was charged with several drug offenses after she was caught trying to hide her stash from officers during a
traffic stop by putting it down her pants.
According to the police affidavit, Officer Mike Wilson was on patrol
just after midnight July 16 when he noticed a pickup with its tag falling
down, which caused the trailer ball to block two of the middle numbers of the tag. As the vehicle approached King Place, it slowed down
at the stop sign but did not come to a complete stop. Wilson activated
his emergency lights to signal for the truck to stop and it did.
Wilson made contact with the driver just as Master Officer Ryan Atkinson arrived on scene as backup. Atkinson made contact with the
passenger, April Llanos. Both the driver and Llanos seemed unusually nervous.
As Wilson ran warrant checks on pair, he let his K9 partner, Bojar, sniff the truck. Bojar
gave his classic alert at the passenger side window. He had both step out of the truck.
Atkinson had been watching Llanos and as soon as she stepped out, she turned her back to
the officers and stuffed something down the front of her pants. Wilson immediately advised
Llanos to show him her hands. He immediately placed her in handcuffs and asked her what
she had stuffed in her pants. Llanos said she was just pulling up her pants up and had not
stuffed anything in them.
Wilson put Llanos in the rear seat of the patrol car and conducted a search of the vehicle. While searching Llanos’ purse, Atkinson found a small plastic wrapper from a cigarette
package that contained 14 small prescription type pills, later identified as Klonopin, a Schedule IV narcotic.
Llanos was asked several more times what she had stuffed down her pants, but each time
denied doing so. He also reminded her if she took anything illegal inside the jail, she would
be charged with a felony.
The driver was released from the scene and Wilson transported Llanos to the Stephens
County Jail.
At the jail, Wilson got Llanos from the rear seat of the patrol car and she turned around and
opened her hand and gave him a small baggy of marijuana. She admitted that it was what she
had put down her pants.
Inside the jail, Wilson told the female detention officer on duty he believed Llanos was concealing narcotics. She took Llanos into the change out room and came back out a few minutes
later with three plastic bags of marijuana.
Llanos was booked into the Stephens County Jail on charges of Possession of CDS, possession of marijuana, and introducing narcotics into a jail facility.

Fifteen years ago, on July 26, 1997, 19-year-old
Tiff any Johnston was abducted from the Sunshine
Car Wash at 7709 N. W. 23rd in Bethany. Her
vehicle was found abandoned at the car wash. Her
body was found the next day on Gregory Road in
Canadian County two-tenths of a mile south of
Interstate 40.
Bethany Police Department requested OSBI assist with the
homicide investigation. The medical examiner’s offi ce ruled the
Bethany resident died of strangulation.
OSBI agents and Bethany detectives have conducted numerous
interviews concerning the disappearance and murder of Johnston.
In late 2005, the case became inactive with no more leads to follow.
Last year, the agent assigned the case retired. Johnston’s case has
now been reassigned. That agent is currently pouring through case
fi les and has requested a reward be off ered to focus attention on the
murder and, perhaps, create new leads. This is the second time a
reward has been off ered.
The OSBI is now off ering up to a $10,000 reward for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for
Tiff any Johnston’s murder. If you have any information helpful in
this case, please call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

DRINKING AFTER 7 WILL GET YOU BEAT
An Oklahoma City mother has been charged with
child abuse after she “whooped” her 3-year-old
daughter for opening the refrigerator after 7 p.m., investigators said. An arrest warrant is expected to be
issued for Nortesha Harmon, 28, of Oklahoma City.
On July 4, Harmon was dropping off her 3-yearold daughter when she told the child’s father that
she had whooped their daughter with an extension
cord for getting a drink after 7 p.m., court documents
revealed. On July 11, investigators interviewed the
child and noticed bruises on her face and body, investigators said.
The child’s father told investigators that he and the child’s mother did not
have a legal custody agreement, but he allowed her, the mother, to see the
child whenever she wanted, according to court document. The child was
treated at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.
What you’re saying
about this on...
Tyler A: sounds like the father’s picture
should be up here too for letting someone
like this care for a child.
Melissa A: wat a shame
LeAnna B: wow.. stuff like this breaks my
heart... SHE IS A BABY.....
Wendy O: omg people make me sick...
Vanessa S: sad! poor baby
B.gaylene H: Beat the hell out of the
mother
Traci S: Someone should beat this (woman) in the face with an extension cord.. Over
and over. Poor baby.
Stacie R: Stupid (woman)!!! She needs
her a** beat with an extension cord!!!
Paula G: You don’t beat a kid with an extension cord.......not at any age, not for any
reason!
Cheryl H: WHY WASNT SHE WATCHING HER 3 YR OLD ANYWAY!!!!!!!! GIVE
ME AN EXTENSION CORD AND I WILL
PLAY MOMMY DEAREST WITH HER!!!!!
April R: Someone needs to beat this thing
with a few dozen cords all over her body. She
shouldn’t be allowed anything to drink for 7
days at the least & only then just a sip then
no more for another 7 days etc for 7 years.
What the hell is wrong with people now days.
I would never deny anything to drink to my
children. They are allowed water anytime
they want/need but they know that other
drinks like juice & kook aid is off limits after
8 but if one sneaks & gets some then big deal
I sure the heck am not going to physically
punish them for it. Geez
D Ariana H: Its sad how many cases are
out there like this, and how many people
out there who dont deserve children, have
them:( Poor babygirl
Robyn M: How stupid could she be?
Marlene D: Some body should whip her
with an extension cord for being so stupid.
Jonathan N Jessica: Bring the electric
chair back.for.people like her, geez do not.
cut her no slack hate people like this!!!
Patty K: Why is she allowed to have this
child. What does do after 7pm when she is
thirsty. Whipping the child with an extension
cord the mother should whipped with one.
Rosie P: This (woman) looks healthy as
hell. Super glue her lips together but leave
a slit on one side just big enuf for a coffee
straw full of everclear. ( once a day ). Start
at her neck and wrk down with a tazer every
30 mins.
Vincent R: A 3 year old child really a 3
year old don’t know better cuz it a child don’t
mean u gotta beat the sh** out Of em she so
stupit
CharlieandStaci: what could possibly
make this woman so sick to beat her child?
Poor child. My heart cries for the child.
Prayers... Hope justice is served!
Tricia M: maybe they should tell her go
outside for awhile but you cant have water
after 5pm! LOL

Chickasha police officers arrested a
woman July 25 after she tried to run
one of them over with her truck.
Officer Stephen Isedeh was called to
a home just before 7 a.m. that day on
a domestic disturbance complaint, but
what he found was anything but typical.
A man, later identified as Anthony
Torralba, 40, ran away from the scene
and into another house, so officers
chased him. However, Allene Tehauno, 31, backed up her truck and nearly
hit Isedeh with the truck’s rear end.
After the officer backed out of the
way, Tehauno refused to get out of her
car and kept saying, “I’m sorry”, according to the affidavit. She was later
pulled from the truck while her companion was placed in handcuffs. While
cuffing him, Isedeh reported seeing
numerous scratches across his stomach and chest.
When Tehauno was in the patrol car,
she told officers the pair got into an argument and that Torralba was saying
mean things to her. She scratched him
because he wouldn’t get off her, but
he never put his hands on her during
the argument, she said. Torralba also reported that her fake nails
broke off the day before the altercation, making her nails sharper
and causing the scratches.
Tehauno was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.
Torralba received charges of resisting an officer. Both were eventually released from jail on $5,000 bonds each.
Tehauno will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and Torralba will
appear at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7.

A Chickasha man faces felony charges
after officers say he stole a gold Chevrolet
Impala and $100 in cash from the Midwestern Pet Food store July 21.
Chickasha police officer Steven Lanier
arrived on the scene to discover that in addition to the stolen property, two vending
machines were also vandalized. One machine had a smashed window and the other
was pried open and had a bent door. Both
machines had money boxes inside, which
were emptied and thrown on the floor beside them, according to the affidavit.
Lanier then checked surveillance footage, which showed two people walking through the parking lot of the store. The pair forced their
way into the main office and came out carrying bags of candy and
Mountain Dew from the vending machines. Afterward, they walked
across the street to stash their goods.
Not satisfied with getting away with burglary the first time, one
of the men, later identified as Cajun Dean Vaughn, 35, forced his
way back into the parking lot, walked into the office and made off
with two Dell desktop computers, which he stored inside the Impala,
which had an Indiana license plate.
Later, Lanier and another officer spoke to Vaughn at the getaway
house. The officer saw four Mountain Dew soda cans and candy on
the couch beside Vaughn, the affidavit says.
After Lanier read Vaughn his Miranda rights, the candy bandit
admitted to breaking into the pet store, vandalizing two vending
machines, stealing money from the machines and being the lookout
while the Impala was stolen. He was then arrested and booked at the
Grady County Jail, where he was released soon after on bond.
Vaughn received charges of second-degree burglary and grand
theft auto July 23. He previously pleaded guilty to domestic assault
and battery in December 2004 and received a probation sentence.
For his latest charges, Vaughn will appear in court at 1:30 p.m.
Sept. 5.

Drugs and alcohol continue to be
big issues around
the world. While
the Bible doesn’t
say much about
cocaine, heroin or
marijuana, we can
assume that drugs
are not a good
choice for anyone.
The Bible does talk
about alcohol and
has some pretty
clear thoughts about it. Let me just say this as a side
note. If you live in a country that has an age limit for
alcohol consumption, you need to abide by the laws of
your country. Thus, any alcohol consumption for anyone
underage is breaking the law. This is black and white.
Where it gets gray is when you become of age and have
to make choices about alcohol. Read the following passages of scripture. Listen to the Spirit of God in you and
begin today to decide how you are going to navigate the
world of alcohol.
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your
life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, (Ephesians
5:18 NLT)

A Ninnekah woman was arrested Aug. 9 after the District Six
Drug Task Force completed its undercover investigation of her.
Investigator David Gatlin reported that a confidential informant
met with Katarra Pursley, 30, on July 23 in reference to buying
methamphetamine. Pursley told the informant she would sell him
the drugs, according to the affidavit.
Task Force agents put a wire on the informant and recorded the
deal. Pursley gave the informant a bag of methamphetamine in exchange for $40 and asked the informant to smoke with her.
During the sting, the informant told Pursley that he has to take a
urine analysis test. Gatlin heard Pursley say she has ¼ of an ounce
of methamphetamine and that she paid $425 for it. Pursley added
that she isn’t profiting from her side job but said that she doesn’t
pay for the “s---“ she uses either.
In another sting on Aug. 6, the informant agreed to buy $40 worth of methamphetamine
from Pursley, which was wrapped in tin foil. During the meeting, the informant asked Pursley if he could get ¼ of an ounce of the drug. She said she could, according to the affidavit.
While this deal occurred, there were two young children sleeping next to Pursley and another
man in the house, Gatlin said.
Pursley was charged with two counts of child neglect and two counts of distribution of controlled substances on the day of her arrest. She remains in the Grady County Jail on bonds
totaling $600,000.
She will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

As the summer heat rages on,
and rain seems to be a distant
memory for much of the state, fires
are becoming an everyday occurrence across Oklahoma. Many of
these could be prevented, and this month I’ll talk about a few ways to
cut down on the possibility of inadvertently starting a fire that may
destroy lives and property.
One of the things Trooper’s see almost every day is the cigarette toss
out the window. For some reason, people don’t want to extinguish
their cigarettes and put them in an ashtray in their car; they just flick
them out the window. What you are saying when you do that is, you
don’t care about the people in that area, or their property. Every time
you throw one of those out, you take a chance of starting a fire that
can devastate a community. If you smoke, use an ashtray or some
type of container in your car to keep your butts in, don’t throw it
out. If a Trooper sees you throw one out, expect the very expensive
citation that comes with that charge!
Another thing that has started fires are things like safety chains on
trailers being too long, and dragging on the pavement. This causes
sparks, which is all it takes to get our drought-stricken grass to burn.
Also, keep bearings greased, as a seized bearing has been known to
spark and cause fires. Be careful driving a car through tall grass, as
the catalytic converter on cars gets hot enough to catch grass on fire.
OBEY THE BURN BAN! Yes, this means you! No reason that you
can justify burning trash, brush piles, having a campfire, or open
grill will be adequate to the people who lose a home when it gets
out of control. If you are violating a burn ban, you are telling your
neighbors that you just don’t care about them or their property.
Also, be alert and aware of what is going on around you. Arson is
certainly a cause of several wildfires across our state. Alert motorists
can help catch an arsonist before they do too much damage, but only
if you are a good witness. Try to get a good description of the person,
their vehicle, a tag if possible, clothing they are wearing, etc, and try
to get that info to law enforcement as soon as you can! You could be
the difference between someone losing a home or just having a close
call.
Lastly, go and thank a firefighter or law enforcement officer for
the work they have been doing recently. These men and women
are battling every day to save lives and property, and getting people
out of harm’s way, in extreme conditions. I know that many of you
donate water and food, and on behalf of all of us in the Emergency
Response community, we thank you for that! Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!
