TULSA, Okla. – A witness contacted authorities after spotting a man tampering with a city light pole in Tulsa on 71st St. bridge.
Police say Shawn Hilligoss allegedly tampered with a city light pole’s electrical box to obtain copper wiring.
Once Tulsa’s Riverside officers arrived at the scene, they quickly located Hilligoss close to the tampered electrical box.
Hilligoss attempted to dispose of the evidence, throwing the stolen copper wiring right into the Arkansas River. According to TPD, Hilligoss possessed wire-cutting tools.
The alleged copper thief was arrested and faces charges for burglary, theft, destruction of evidence by a convicted felon, carrying burglary tools, and malicious mischief. (Tulsa Police Department Facebook)
