SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. – A 17 and 18-year-old were arrested in Sullivan County, Tennessee, after stealing a school bus from a garage in Wise County, Virginia.
The suspects were the only ones aboard the stolen school bus on Wednesday, April 28.
According to reports, the bus was in a maintenance garage, and the mechanic, Mark Giles, was shocked by its disappearance.
The mechanic engaged in his own investigation that day and reviewed surveillance video footage.
Giles stated that the bus theft occurred at 4 a.m., and it was clear that the driver was not your typical school bus driver.
The teens allegedly drove the bus from Virginia to Blountsville, Tennessee, for what some may say a ride of a lifetime.
The motivation of the theft is unknown but what we do know is that it did not end well.
Authorities say the 17-year-old driver, identity unknown, was seriously injured after wrecking the bus.
The passenger, 18-year-old Cullon Michael Henderson, was charged with theft.
According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office of Tennessee, the juvenile court will be involved in the driver’s charges.
