HOLIDAY SURPRISE
A Choctaw woman is facing a felony charge
after she allegedly hopped into a running vehicle the owner was warming up and then
drove away with it.
Michelle Billings, 22, was charged December 28 with larceny of a motor vehicle in
Payne County District Court.
According to a Stillwater Police Department (SPD) press release, on Dec. 22, 2022,
at 2:39 p.m., SPD responded to the area of
1624 N. Cimarron Plaza in reference to a
report of a stolen car. The victim stated she
started her vehicle to warm it up before leaving work and noticed her vehicle missing moments later.
While SPD officers were talking with the victim, she was able to pull up the
GPS location on her vehicle, an SUV. Other SPD officers responded to the
area of 1600 N. Perkins Road where they located the occupied SUV.
Billings was was arrested and transported to the Stillwater Police Department jail and then to the Payne County jail. Bond was set at $25,000.
“We all understand the need to warm up your vehicle during the cold weather that we are experiencing,” the press release stated. “Unfortunately, leaving
an unoccupied running vehicle makes it very easy for a thief to drive off in your
vehicle. SPD has responded to two thefts of motor vehicle reports over the
past few months and one ended with an arrest [Dec. 22).”

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Deputies assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau have
arrested a man for a robbery that occurred at a Chase Bank
in unincorporated Seminole, Pinellas County, Florida.
On October 10, 2022 at approximately 1:28 p.m., the
suspect entered the Chase Bank located at 10755 Starkey
Road in unincorporated Seminole, Fla. Once inside the
bank, the suspect, later identified as 56-year-old Paul Sinclair, approached the bank teller, implied he had a gun and
demanded cash. Sinclair was given $120 in cash.
Detectives say the suspect then fled from the bank.
Through various investigative techniques, deputies located Sinclair less than 10 minutes later at 8727 Bardmoor Place in Seminole,
where he was taken into custody.
Detectives interviewed Sinclair, who admitted to the robbery and to putting his
hand under his shirt to form the shape of a gun while demanding cash from the
teller.
Sinclair was charged with one count of robbery and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
The investigation continues.

A former Sapulpa police officer pleaded guilty December 6 in federal court for lying to law enforcement
about a theft he committed while on-duty, announced
U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
Dennis James Hall, 40, pleaded guilty to making
false statements, which is a felony. The plea agreement
calls for Hall to serve five years of probation. Further,
Hall will no longer be permitted to serve as a law enforcement officer.
On Oct. 6, 2021, while on-duty as a police officer,
Hall was called to a scene where a deceased woman
was found in a hotel room. During the on-scene investigation, Hall entered the woman’s hotel room on his own
then stole $345 in cash. When the Sapulpa Police Department first learned that a
theft may have been committed, they contacted the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation (OSBI) for assistance. Hall was then interviewed by law enforcement
and lied about committing the theft despite being confronted with evidence in the
case. In his plea agreement, Hall admitted that he lied and made false statements
to investigators during the Nov. 15, 2021, interview.
The Sapulpa Police Department, FBI, and OSBI conducted the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Niko A. Boulieris is prosecuting the case.

Joseph Goetz’s alleged attempt to rob a York, Pennsylvania, bank met with some
snags. Cops say the fi rst teller he tried to rob fainted and the next two had no more
cash in their drawers. Fed up, Goetz stormed out, threatening to write an angry letter
to the bank.
A German bank robber sent mocking emails to local police, ridiculing their eff orts to
arrest him. First, he let them know they had his age, build, and accent wrong. Then he
corrected their announcement that he’d escaped on foot; no, he had a getaway car!
The cops got the last word in, though, when they arrested the guy a few hours later.
They used his email to trace him.
After a man kicked in the front door of a Texas home at 3:30 a.m., the resident fl ed
and called police. When cops arrived, they were surprised to fi nd that the intruder
hadn’t stolen a thing. Police found the man in the bathroom, enjoying a warm bath.
Robby Rose lost his fi rst-place medal and was charged with a felony after it was
discovered that he’d cheated in a Texas fi shing tournament by stuffi ng a one-pound
weight down the throat of a bass he’d caught. Offi cials became suspicious when they
placed Rose’s fi sh in a tank and it sank to the bottom.
According to the bus driver, it was a brutal, unprovoked attack. A woman got on his
bus and assaulted him with a half-eaten banana. “I had banana all over me,” he insisted. “On my tie, my shirt, and my eye.” The woman explained that the driver had almost
hit her car and that when she entered the bus to rationally discuss the matter, the banana slipped … right into his tie, his shirt, his eye … The court may not have believed
that, but it did believe her when she argued that it was “unreasonable that a banana
could cause this much damage.” They slapped her with a fi ne of only about $100.
Police in Pico Rivera, California, had an easy time pinning a four-year-old murder on
Anthony Garcia. That’s because he pinned it on himself—with an elaborate tattoo on
his chest, depicting the killing. Cops noticed the incriminating ink when taking Garcia’s
mug shot for a petty crime. The tattoo revealed all the details of the night, from the
Christmas lights and bent streetlamp near the liquor store where the body was found to
the image of an angry helicopter—Garcia’s nickname was Chopper—machine-gunning
the victim.
James Rhyne of Memphis was charged with forgery after he handed a waitress a
$100 bill. The waitress knew something was funny with the money: Instead of the portly
visage of Ben Franklin, it was the star of the $5 bill, Abe Lincoln, who was staring back
at her.
A woman in Somerset, Massachusetts, was arrested for breaking and entering. But
she was quickly caught thanks to her ankle bracelet … the one fi tted with a GPS system … that she had gotten from the police … for being on probation from an earlier
breaking-and-entering case.

TRAVELIN’ MAN
A Springdale, Arkansas, man with an extensive rap sheet in multiple states, was taken into custody in Creek County after he allegedly stole a vehicle in Lincoln County.
David Needham, 43, was charged December 14 with possession of stolen vehicle and
obstruction of public officer in Creek County
District Court.
The Creek County Sheriff’s Office said in a
press release that on Sunday evening, December 4, 2022, Sheriff’s deputies responded
southwest of Bristow on a suspicious person
complaint. The description of the suspicious
person matched that of a suspect involved
in a stolen vehicle pursuit with the Lincoln
County Sheriff’s Office the day before.
Creek County deputies deployed a drone and were able to locate the suspicious person. The drone team directed the K-9 team to Needham. He was
arrested and the stolen vehicle was recovered by Creek County deputies.
Needham has an extensive criminal record out of Arkansas, Minnesota, and
Texas, including Aggravated Robbery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon,
Burglary, Theft of Property, Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a
Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Fugitive from Justice.
Needham pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on December 20 and bond
was set at $12,000.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens who called in and reported the suspicious activity. Cooperation between law enforcement and the
community is critical in maintaining public safety.

NOT ME!
Two inmates at the Lincoln County Jail are facing
more charges after they allegedly set the jail on fire
on December 5.
According to the police report, a Lincoln County deputy was at the jail for an unrelated incident
when he was advised a fire had occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The deputy reviewed camera footage of the incident. He watched as 23-year-old Daulton Boyd
Matthews ripped a plastic shower curtain off a rod
in the dayroom area of the pod. He then threw it on
the floor. He also gathered together some books
and placed them by the shower curtain.
Another inmate, 22-year-old Peyton Jade Nash,
assisted Matthews with finding items to burn.
A short time later, Matthews is seen on the footage bringing a white sheet into the dayroom. He
unfolded it and handed an end to Nash. At some
point, the sheet blocked the camera view of the
inmates’ faces. The inmates stood on dining room
tables and tied the ends to exterior bars, blocking
the camera. They were positively identified by their
clothing, however.
The men then started gathering items from the
bunk area. They started messing with the pile of
items on the floor. Soon after, the deputy saw
smoke rising from the pile. Once flames started
coming up from the pile, the men ran back into the
bunk area.
Neither men admitted to setting the fire.
Matthews is being charged with arson in the first degree. His bond was
set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2023.
Nash is being charged with arson in the first degree. A bench warrant in the
amount of $50,000 was issued for his arrest on December 28, 2022.

BEWARE OF CYBER CRIME!
With new tablets, gaming consoles, smartphones, and other electronic
devices being purchased for you or the children in your home, it’s essential to be aware of the risks involved with children using electronics with
internet access.
With a variety of new social media applications, online forums, and chat
rooms increasingly being used by young people, the risk of children and
teenagers being contacted by online predators continues to rise. Young
people may participate in in-game chat conversations or other online conversations with people they believe to be their peers. However, child predators often use these forums to masquerade as young people. Although
these conversations may start innocently, grooming can be a gradual process that increases in severity until sexually explicit requests are sent to
the unsuspecting child.
If you have children in your home or under your supervision, it is important to be aware of their online activity and any changes in their behavior.
It can also be helpful to have conversations with children regarding online
safety and protecting their privacy. Letting children in your care know that
they can always talk to you regarding concerning interactions can also be
a key step in prevention, as many predators warn potential victims to stay
silent due to a fear of not being believed.
The OSBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit works diligently
to protect Oklahoma’s children, but we never want to see your name or
the name of your loved one come across our desk. To help us protect your
children, you can learn more about the warning signs of online grooming
and how to discuss online safety with children you love at this link from InternetMatters.org: https://www.internetmatters.org/.../protect-your-child/.

Children’s NetSmartz program, which teaches children age-appropriate
online safety at...
