NOT WITHOUT A
FIGHT
An intoxicated 27-year-old woman was arrested in Tahlequah after officers found her
walking through a parking lot with some unconventional weapons on August 1.
According to reports, Tahlequah officers
were dispatched to the 1200 block of N. Trimble Avenue to investigate
reports of a woman trying to break into an apartment. When they arrived
at the location, they found the suspect in the parking lot. She was carrying some nunchucks and a miniature sword.
Officers spoke to the woman, who claimed that she didn’t break into
the apartment. She said she was just trying to see if her friend was home.
Officers noticed that the woman smelled like alcohol. She also had
bloodshot watery eyes. They asked her if she had been drinking. She
admitted to drinking earlier that day.
Officers looked through the woman’s purse. They found a glass smoking pipe that smelled like marijuana.
While checking the woman’s information, officers learned that she had
an outstanding warrant through Cherokee Nation. When they advised
her that she was going to be arrested, the woman freaked out. She started screaming and pulled away from officers. She also refused to walk to
the patrol unit.
When officers put the woman in the vehicle, she screamed all the way
to jail and refused to get out of the vehicle. When officers tried to remove
her from the car, she started kicking her legs and hit one of the officers
in the face.
Heather Townsend was booked into the Cherokee County Detention
Center on tribal charges. She is being charged with public intoxication,
possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer. CHEYENNE

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

TREK TO TULSA
A Wagoner man was hunted down in Tulsa after
he violated his probation on charges stemming
from the negligent death of his young son.
According to the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office, in August of 2019, Wagoner County Deputies and Investigators worked a criminal case involving the drowning death of
4-year-old Steven Powers, III. The child drowned while swimming without a flotation device in the Ft. Gibson Lake while in the care and custody of his father,
Steven Powers, Jr. The latter was under the influence of intoxicants at the time.
At the conclusion of this case, Powers, Jr., was charged with and pled to 1st
Degree Manslaughter for this negligent death. In 2022, the Wagoner County
District Attorney’s Office gave Powers probation for 15 years for this charge
following his plea.
In early 2023, it was found that Powers had violated his probation, causing
the Wagoner County District Attorney to issue an arrest warrant for revocation
of Powers’ probation, and Wagoner County Investigators began the search for
Powers. Recently, Powers was located in the Tulsa area and Investigators requested the help of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office to verify this location.
On August 3, 2023, Wagoner County Investigator Ben Noble and members of
the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Squad located Powers at a residence
in Tulsa in the Admiral and Harvard area, and Powers was taken into custody without incident. Powers is now awaiting new
sentencing on this 1st Degree Manslaughter case.
The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office would like
to thank the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of Probation and Parole, the Wagoner County
District Attorney, and the public for their assistance in apprehending this subject.

Indian Country; and one count of Use, Carry, Brandish, and Discharge of
a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence.
According to investigators, on October 8, 2022, Fuller fired a pistol at
a family member. When Roland Police Department officers responded
to the scene, Fuller – while holding an infant child – opened fire on them
as well.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Roland Police Department, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department, the Cherokee Nation
Marshal Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The crimes occurred in Sequoyah County, within the boundaries of the
Cherokee Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United
States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the
plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
Fuller will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.

PULLING A GUN ON STREET PHONE VENDOR AND DRINKING BOX WINE IN PUBLIC
On August 15, around 9:00 a.m., officers responded to a 6000 S. Peoria in Tulsa for a call
about a disturbance with a gun.
The caller said they saw the suspect, later identified as Kenneath Gustavis,
point a gun at a vendor issuing government cell phones on the corner. The caller
also said the suspect was arguing with others in the parking lot.
The first officer arrived and quickly spotted Gustavis drinking wine out of a
box in public. Initially, Gustavis put his hand on his waistband, implying he had
a weapon.
Gustavis then put his hands up and started to comply with the Officer, but then
turned and ran, as seen in the photo.
Officers took Gustavis into custody just a few blocks away and recovered the
gun he was carrying. Gustavis appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
The cell phone vendor later said Gustavis initially became upset when he
was told he needed an ID to get a free
phone. The vendor said Gustavis then
spit and hit his vehicle, then pulled out a
gun and pointed it at him.
Kenneath Gustavis was arrested for:
- Pointing a Deadly Weapon with Intent
- Carrying a Firearm While Intoxicated
- Obstructing/Interfering with a Police
Officer
- Consuming Intoxicants in a Public
Place
This is an arrest, not a conviction.

FESSING UP
A Stilwell man has pleaded guilty in federal
court to charges that he attempted to coerce a
minor child to have sex with him.
Jakoma Twohat Sanders, 35, of Adair County,
entered a guilty plea in federal court to one count
of Coercion and Enticement, and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The Indictment alleged that beginning on or about June 5, 2018, and continuing until on or about August 6, 2018, Sanders used a means of interstate
commerce to knowingly persuade, induce, entice, and coerce a minor child to
engage in sexual activity. The Indictment also alleged that on September 24,
2019, Sanders was found to knowingly be in possession of a firearm while having previously been convicted of a felony punishable by more than one year in
prison.
The charges arose from an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations,
the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the National Center for Missing
and Exploited Children.
The investigation began after Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation received
a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the
Sanders communicating with minor females over the internet and inducing them
to engage in sexual activity. When the defendant was arrested, he was found to
be in possession of a firearm after having previously been convicted of a felony.
If you have information about the physical or online exploitation of children,
please call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip online
at tips.fbi.gov. You can also contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE–LOST (1-800-843-5678) or submit a tip online at
report.cybertip.org.
The Honorable Judge Gerald L. Jackson, Magistrate Judge in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee, accepted the
plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. Sanders
was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.

AROUND THE NATION
Couldn’t he have phoned a friend instead?!?
An 18-year-old man in DeKalb County basically turned himself into police after a robbery
attempt turned ice cold...literally.
On Saturday, July 15, 2023, around 6:41 p.m. the Waterman Police Department in Waterman, Illinois responded to a call about a man being stuck in a
freezer at a local food establishment called Fay’s Finest Foods.
So how did this man get himself locked in a freezer? That is where the story
gets interesting.
According to WSPY News, 18-year-old Gabriel J. Morales locked himself
in the freezer at Fay’s Finest Foods while attempting to ROB the joint, AND
he called 911 himself.

NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS
TO MAKE IT SAFER
PART 1
Living in a safe and secure neighborhood is one of the
key factors that define the quality of life in a community.
Crime and insecurity create an unpleasant atmosphere
and can even affect the physical and emotional well-being of the residents. To tackle these issues, neighbors
must work together to improve safety in the area, and
it all starts with small but significant changes to the neighborhood. Over the next few
months, Jailbirds will cover some attractive and functional neighborhood safety improvements that can make a significant difference.
Build a Neighborhood Watch Program
Starting a neighborhood crime watch program is a proactive way to promote safety and
security in your community. By working together, residents can help deter criminal activity
and make their neighborhoods safer places to live. Small businesses near the area can aid
the effort by installing security cameras and alarms that can serve as additional deterrents.
With a neighborhood crime watch program in place, residents can support each other,
report suspicious activity, and work together to create a safer and more secure community.
This is Part One of a Six Part Series. At Jailbirds, we provide you with the information
you need to stay safe.

PACKIN' IN THE PACK
A previously-convicted felon will be spending the
next 4-plus years in a federal prison for having a gun
in his backpack while running from the cops.
Jacob Matthew Staton, 28, was sentenced to 50
months in prison for the unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges arose from investigations by the Muskogee Police Department and the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
On July 28, 2022, Staton pleaded guilty to one count of Felon in Possession of a
Firearm.
On May 17, 2022, the Muskogee Police Department attempted to stop Staton when
he took off running and threw a backpack he was carrying. When the backpack was
recovered, a loaded handgun was found on the ground next to the backpack. At the
time Staton possessed the firearm, Staton was a convicted felon.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief Judge in the United States District Court
for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing in Muskogee. Jacob
Matthew Staton will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to
a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration. RUSHAUNA
