TRAFFICKING IN ILLEGAL DRUGS
Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty 3 | OCTOBER 2023 CANADIAN COUNTY
BOXED IN
A 30-year-old man from Oklahoma City was put
behind bars after he allegedly stole a box truck and
led officers on a high speed pursuit into El Reno on
September 18.
The suspect, Preston Trent Hayes, was also allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of
the incident.
According to reports, Minco police officers pursued the stolen box truck as Hayes
drove it erratically into town. He allegedly drove back and forth across both lanes of
traffic, endangering other motorists. When officers tried to stop the man, he headed
up Highway 81 through Union City and into El Reno.
At some point, Hayes allegedly drove off the road and through two people’s front
yards.
Canadian County deputies, Union City officers, El Reno officers and troopers with
the Oklahoma Highway Patrol joined in on the pursuit.
Fortunately, the pursuit came to a peaceful end north of El Reno and Minco.
No vehicles were damaged in the pursuit, and no one was injured. Officers arrested
Hayes and transported him to jail.
In the Chickasaw Nation District Court, Hayes is being charged with eluding an officer, possession of stolen property, and driving under the influence. Bond and court
date information were unavailable at the time of publication.

JOURNEY TO JAIL
Clinton man Steven John Keeto, 34, allegedly
stole a car and led officers on a high speed chase
on the evening on September 25.
According to reports, Clinton police officers
were advised that someone had stolen a Dodge
Journey and to be on the lookout. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper spotted
the stolen vehicle headed eastbound on I-40. He tried to stop the driver, later
identified as Keeto, near the 77.5 mile marker.
Keeto pulled over, but he then took off at a high rate of speed. The trooper
attempted maneuvers to stop the man, but they didn’t work.
Keeto drove back onto westbound I-40 toward Clinton. During the pursuit, he
reportedly reached speeds up to 120 mph.
Keeto left the interstate at Exit 69. Officers deployed some stop sticks, but
Keeto evaded them and headed into Clinton, driving nearly 100 mph. The vehicle chase came to an end when the driver ran into a tree in front of a house on
Avant Avenue.
Keeto tried to flee the scene on foot, but officers caught up to the man and
placed him under arrest. They noticed the man smelled like alcohol and his eyes
were also watery and bloodshot.
Keeto didn’t want to do a field sobriety test. He did, however, agree to a preliminary breath test, which was positive for the presence of alcohol.
The state’s alcohol test indicated the man had a blood alcohol level of .07.
During booking, officers found a small burnt pill and three snorting straws on
Keeto’s person.
Keeto is being charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting/
eluding police after the conviction of two or more felonies, unauthorized use of a
vehicle after the former conviction of two or more felonies, driving while impaired,
possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia, and driving without a valid driver’s license. He is scheduled to
appear in court on October 27.

ROBBERY OVER A REFUND - Two men arrested after robbing hotel clerk at checkout
On September 5, Tulsa Police Officers responded to an Armed Robbery call around 2:30 p.m. at
a hotel near 91st and Riverside.
The 911 caller said a man armed with a knife
threatened hotel employees and forced a clerk to
hand over some money.
Through the investigation, Officers learned one
of the suspects, identified as Monroe Bird, rented
a room at the hotel and believed he was owed
a partial refund for checking out early. The dispute escalated when the other suspect, identified
as Shawdale Wright, arrived at the hotel and demanded $200 from the clerk.
When the clerk refused, Wright slashed an employee’s tire and threatened to start breaking windows. The clerk then handed over the money and the two suspects left.
Officers found and arrested Wright as he headed northbound on Riverside on
a bicycle. Officers caught Bird trying to hide behind a tree nearby.
Monroe Bird was arrested for:
- Robbery by Force or Fear AFCF (After Former Conviction of a Felony)
Shawdale Wright was arrested for:
- Robbery by Force or Fear AFCF
- Malicious Injury to Property
As the suspects in this case falls under the McGirt ruling, they will either be
prosecuted in Tribal Court or Federal Court. We will continue to work with our
Federal or Tribal partners as this case continues.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.

Las Vegas rapper arrested after he allegedly
‘confessed’ to murder in music video
A Nevada rapper was arrested on murder
charges after implicating himself in a music video
by sharing details of the crime that only a killer could have known, police said.
Kenjuan McDaniel, 25, was picked up on August 29 after police said lyrics in
one of his recently posted music videos included details about a 2021 murder
that had not been publicly released, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.
“I be the reason why he’s dead, we still taunt him when he die, not the reason
he’s dead, so celebrate the reason why his momma cry,” was one of the lyrics
in McDaniel’s video for his song “Fadee Free” that police said implicated the
rapper, according to a warrant obtained by KVUU.
“Parked the car, double back on feet, the smartest way to slide, drove in,
double lock yo man, make sure you get yo bod’,” was another lyric linked to
the murder, which saw a man gunned down in his apartment after an apparent
argument.
In the video — which depicted McDaniel and his cohorts’ faces transforming
into demonic skeletal visages — the rapper also allegedly acted out movements
that police said were “consistent with evidence at the scene.”
“The facts gathered during the investigation were obtained separately from the
music video,” police said.
“The music video further validated the results of the investigation.”
McDaniel’s video was first uploaded to YouTube in mid-July, and a detective
found it shortly thereafter.
“Detectives noted the music video bore a sufficient level of similarity to the
details of the murder,” the warrant read. “This includes the fact, that Kenjuan
confessed to the murder in his lyrics.”
“Details provided by Kenjuan in his music video were not released to the public
and would not be common knowledge.”

COUNTRY ROADS
A Watonga man is facing a multitude of felony
charges after he led authorities on a chase in a stolen
vehicle.
Levi Dawes Baker, 22, was charged October 10
with endangering others while eluding/attempting to
elude police officer, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, two counts of burglary in the second degree, six
counts of burglary third degree, driving a motor vehicle under combined influence of alcohol and drugs,
unlawful possession of paraphernalia, knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property, misdemeanor petit larceny and driving without
a drivers license, in Blaine County District Court.
Reports state that on the morning of September 26, a Watonga police officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reported to be stolen. Of, course, the
driver of the vehicle, later identified as Baker, did not obey the officer’s signal to stop
and took off at a high rate of speed southbound out of Watonga.
Baker allegedly decided the highway was not a good option for a route of escape
and turned onto a county road. The dirt proved to much for his high speeds and he
crashed the vehicle near CR 2540 and CR 850 southwest of Watonga.
Baker was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital to be treated. He was then
booked into the Blaine County jail.
Baker is also the suspect in several burglaries around the area.
Bond information was not available as of press time. LOGAN
