REWARD OFFERED
Earlier this last fall (2023) ODWC Wildlife Biologist and Technicians installed new signs at the
Cherokee Public Hunting Area. One at the shooting range and one of the main entrances to the
area just outside of Tahlequah.
Unfortunately, on New Year’s Eve, somebody decided to run a couple of the
new signs over with their vehicle, completely destroying them!
Cherokee County Game Wardens are asking for your help in identifying the
suspects! Information leading to an arrest can get you a $$$ reward. You can
remain anonymous too!
Please contact Wardens Cody Youngblood at 918-431-2552 or Matt Farris at
918-431-2562 with any information.

LIFE TO GO
A Wagoner man who brutally killed his uncle
execution style, was sentenced to life in federal
prison for murder.
George McEntire Smith, 23, of Wagoner, was
sentenced to two life sentences for murder and
using a firearm to commit the murder. The sentences will be served concurrently.
The charges arose from an investigation by
the Wagoner Police Department, the Muscogee
(Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police Department,
and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
On August 5, 2022, a federal jury found Smith guilty at trial of one count of
First Degree Murder in Indian Country, and one count of Causing the Death
of a Person During a Crime of Violence with a Dangerous Weapon. During
the trial, the United States presented evidence that on April 8, 2021, Smith
entered the victim’s Wagoner home, then shot the victim once in the back of
the head and once in the back of the neck. EMS responders pronounced the
victim dead at the scene.
The crimes occurred in Wagoner County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Smith will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to
a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

A Stilwell resident was sentenced earlier this
month to federal prison for a federal firearms
crime.
Edmond Lewis Jr., 41, of Stilwell, was sentenced to 72 months in prison for possessing a
firearm after a felony conviction.
The charges arose from investigations by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office
and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. On Jan. 18, 2023, Lewis pleaded
guilty to the offense.
On Nov. 25, 2020, law enforcement conducting a traffic stop discovered
Lewis, a convicted felon, with a handgun and a rifle in the car. During the plea
hearing, Lewis agreed that he knew at the time of the traffic stop that he was
barred from possessing firearms.
Lewis will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service pending transportation to a designated U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-parolable sentence of incarceration.

MUSKOGEE MURDER
SUSPECT CAPTURED
A Muskogee man who allegedly beat a woman and murdered another man earlier this month
has been taken into custody.
According to Officer Lynn Hamlin, PIO with
the Muskogee Police Department, on January
9, 2024, at approximately 9:40AM, officers were dispatched to 1323 East

they located a female victim inside the residence with multiple injuries. She
was transported to a Tulsa hospital.
As officers were assisting the female, they discovered another subject laying just inside the residence. That subject was a male subject and he was
deceased.
Officers immediately began looking for Andrew Davenport, who was a person of interest in this case. He was found walking several blocks from the
scene.
Davenport was charged January 12 with murder in the first degree- deliberate intent and aggravated assault and battery, in Muskogee County District

Colorado burglar busted after using Uber as getaway car for $8K plumbing tool heist
A Colorado crook carrying thousands of dollars
of stolen merchandise walked right into the police’s hands after he was caught trying to use an Uber as a getaway car, cops
said.
The bungling burglar was ransacking a plumbing store in the Denver suburbs
last week when he called the rideshare driver to pick him up.
The store owner had called 911 after noticing a hole cut in the business’ fencing and caught surveillance footage of the thief inside.
When the local Wheat Ridge police arrived on the scene, they discovered the
Uber driver waiting nearby.
He told cops his passenger “Jose” was headed right toward the car.“Are you
looking for an Uber?” an officer can be heard asking the suspect in bodycam
footage shared by the department.
The man — wearing the hood of his black sweatshirt up and a pulled-down
balaclava — shoots his gaze sideways and hides his hands inside his pockets.“Uh — no,” he stammers. He then gives the officers the fake name “Raul” as
he takes several steps backward and away from the cops.
He was immediately grabbed by officers, but assures them he is not trying to
make a break for it.Jose doubles down on his innocence and claims he is simply
on his way to his mother’s house.
When told he matches the description of the thief, he maintains he is not the
man they are looking for, despite not carrying identification to prove he is “Raul.”
The contents of his backpack, however, exposed the thin charade.“This backpack is full of Milwaukee tools,” one officer can be heard saying while rifling
through the loot.
Inside, cops found more than $8,600 worth of electric tools.
He was taken into custody, where fingerprint scanners confirmed his real identity.“It may not be the best idea to have an Uber pick you up AT the crime scene,”
Wheat Ridge Police said on social media.
A 26-year-old man by the name of Jose was booked the following day on a
plethora of charges, including theft of more than $2,000, criminal trespassing
and false reporting to authorities, court records show.
