CHILD PREDATOR SENTENCED FOR LIFE
AFTER FEDERAL JURY CONVICTION
On April 24, U.S. District Judge John F. Heil, III, sentenced
Garrin Michael Thompson, 50, of Catoosa. Thompson was
found guilty by a federal jury in Sep. 2022 for the Transportation of a Minor with Intent to Engage in Criminal Sexual Activity;
Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Minor Under 12 in Indian Country; and Coercion and Enticement of a Minor.
Judge Heil ordered Thompson to serve life in prison. If released, Thompson will be supervised for life and required to
register as a sex offender.
“One of the five essential components to Project Safe Childhood is accountability,” said U.S.
Attorney Clinton Johnson. “Thompson knew his victims and exploited their trust. Life imprisonment
ensures that Thompson is held accountable for his actions.”
Four victims boldly testified at trial as to the molestation, abuse, coercion, or enticement they
experienced as children in his care. Prosecutors showed during the trial that Thompson’s predatory
acts went back to 2000 or 2001. He placed a video camera in his home and another in a vacation
rental to record the victims. Thompson also abused and attempted to assault or molest a victim.
Investigators further found on Thompson’s computer indicators that he may have been viewing child
pornography or incest.
One of the victims is a tribal member. Thompson will remain in custody pending transfer to the
U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The FBI and the Catoosa Police Department conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney
Cheryl L. Baber prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative to combat
the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity
Section leads PSC, which marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and
prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and identifies and rescues victims. For more
information about PSC, please visit DOJ’s PSC page.

DRUG DEALING FOR DUMMIES:
CHAPTER 2
In This Chapter You Will Learn:
• Rule Number One: Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Two: No Matter What, Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Three: If You Are Gonna Transport Drugs Don’t Do Stupid &#!t!!
• Rule Number Four: K-9’s Can Smell Your Dope
To truly understand the importance of the four basic rules listed above, let’s look at what happened last year
to Anthony Riposta and Aaron Esposito, who not only forgot basic rule number one, but apparently didn’t follow
any of the basic rules and as such, found themselves in jail with the other drug dealers that couldn’t follow the
rules either!!
Not only did they forget the importance of not being a scumbag drug dealer, but they also forgot that if you are
going to be a drug dealer, you better not do dumb stuff like making an illegal turn. As is often the case when you
violate these simple, but yet important rules, the Deputies usually show up, a big giant dog sniffs your vehicle, and
then you get cuffed and stuffed in the back of a patrol car as we seize your illegal drugs!!
In yet another classic example of what happens when you ignore the advice provided in “Drug Dealing For Dummies”, a deputy stopped a vehicle being driven by Riposta and made contact with him and his little friend Esposito.
The deputy then gets a little help from his friends, another deputy and his K-9 deputy partner, who alerts on the
vehicle, and then Riposta and Esposito are soon on their way to jail!!
Located during a search of the vehicle on the dash were three orange pills that were subsequently determined
to be Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine. Also located on the dash was a single broken white pill that field-tested
positive for cocaine, and 35 additional orange pills that were determined to be Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine.
The pills were contained in a green prescription bottle with the prescribed persons’ name ripped off. The pill bottle
was located in the center console of Riposta’s vehicle, next to two prescription pill bottles with Riposta’s name on
them.
As a result of the vehicle search, Riposta was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled
Substance and given a free ride to jail, where he got some nice, slightly used shower slides and a gift certificate for
a Honey Bun from the inmate commissary!!
Oh and his little friend Esposito…yeah he took the ride too as a lawful search of his person produced four
baggies that were hidden in his underwear that contained a clear crystal substance which field-tested positive
for methamphetamine and weighed a total of 13.7 grams. He also had two baggies containing a white powdery
substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl and weighed a total of 8.9 grams. Additionally, he had three orange
pills that were identified as Buprenorphine/
Naloxone, and five purple pills that were
identified as Alprazolam/Xanax that were
also hidden in his underpants as well!!
Esposito was subsequently placed under arrest for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of a
Controlled Substance Without Prescription.
Esposito also got a luxurious package at the
jail when he arrived, that included shower
slides, tailored striped suit, and a thorough
search by our very accommodating staff
since he likes to hide stuff in his undies!!

DANGEROUS CHIT CHAT
A 27-year-old Pryor man was arrested in May for child
pornography after investigators found child sexual abuse
material in his possession.
According to reports, an investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children gave the
Mayes County Sheriff’s Department a tip about Brian David
Fort. Deputies went to the man’s home and served a search
warrant. While at the man’s home, deputies found child sexual abuse material on several devices, including his phone,
computer, and tablet.
Reports state Fort was part of an online chat group on the social media app Kik. The group
shared illegal images and videos of children. This included images and videos of children being
sexually abused.
A cyber tip was created in December after a fake username and email was used to upload
parent-child pornography to the app.
Fort is being charged with child pornography, buy/procure/possess. His bond was set at
$75,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 20, 2024. VINCENT

A Chickasha man who failed to show up for a
court appearance for a misdemeanor charge is
being held in jail on an unusually high bond of
$500,000. Why? He signed a court document
with an expletive. 31-year old Joshua Nathaniel
Ashley was arrested Sunday because he failed
to show up for a hearing in March. The hearing was scheduled after Ashley was arrested in
December for driving without a license. In his court appearance Monday he
signed “f--- you” on the court minute document and Special District Judge
Gina Lowe set his bond at a half-million dollars.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

What a crappy thing to do!
A teenager was allegedly toppled over a porta potty at a New Hampshire park May 8 — covering the
mother and 4-year-old daughter inside with filth, according to police.
Aiden Studer, 18, is accused of pushing the john
from behind so that it landed on its door, trapping the
pair inside the disgusting box.
“The pair reported being covered in feces and
bodily fluids,” Manchester police said.
Witnesses told police that Studer had been arguing with the mother near the porta-potty at Derryfield Park until she went inside to assist her daughter. That’s when the
vengeful teen allegedly struck. They weren’t inside for long, however — bystanders
rushed to free the mother-daughter pair.
Studer allegedly ended his tirade by throwing an unknown object at officers who
arrived on the scene. It does not appear as though the teenager knew the mother
before striking.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal restraint and criminal
mischief, as well as simple assault on a police officer.

On May 10, Lexington Assessment and Reception Center Deputy Warden Tasha Parker
was arrested for the introduction of contraband

ODOC diligently removes bad actors who endanger public safety. Recent updates to security
measures, using innovative technology, help us
protect our inmates and staff. Our Intelligence
Unit works actively to stop illegal activity in and
around our facilities, even if it involves an employee.
“The overwhelming majority of ODOC’s employees are dedicated to our

Oklahomans by not following our policies or state laws.”
Parker has been booked into Cleveland County Detention Center.

LIFE SENTENCE FOR SEXUAL
ASSAULT ON 5 YEAR OLD
A Delaware County man was sentenced April
22 for Aggravated Sexual Abuse of Minor Under
12 Years of Age in Indian Country and Sexual
Exploitation of a Child, announced U.S. Attorney
Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge John D. Russell sentenced
Glenn David Nickols, 41, to life imprisonment. If
released, Nickols will be required to register as a
sex offender and will also be placed on supervised release.
“Project Safe Childhood is our commitment to have our children grow up
without fear of exploitation,” said U.S. Attorney Clinton Johnson. “This life sentence holds Nickols accountable for his predatory actions and puts him in prison
where he cannot exploit another child.”
According to court records, from March 2020 through August 2020, Nickols
knowingly engaged in repetitive and sadistic sexual acts with a 5-year-old child,
whom he tied to a bed with restraints and filmed himself sexually assaulting on
multiple occasions.
Nickols previously received a 10-year sentence in Delaware County for Aggravated Possession of Child Pornography and Distributing Obscene Material,
relating to possessing additional images and videos depicting the sexual abuse
of other children.
The 5-year-old victim is a tribal member. Nickols will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

COLD CASE INVESTIGATION
CONTINUES
On the afternoon of Monday November 29, 2021,
while grading a rural Cherokee County dirt road, Cherokee County District 1 employees discovered the body
of a deceased male lying down an embankment below
the roadway and notified the Cherokee County Sheriff’s
Office.
CCSO investigators responded to the area. It appeared the victim had been pushed or thrown off the
roadway down the embankment. The victim came to rest on its right side with its back
against a tree. The victim had been partially concealed in two black trash bags and his
wrists were bound together. The victim was clothed in black ankle socks with white images printed on them, greyish blue sweatpants over black shorts with a nylon drawstring
and a red and black fleece styled zippered jacket. The victim was dark skinned with black
hair and his hair appeared to be cut very close to the skin on the sides and longer than
shoulder length in the back.
An investigator with the Tulsa office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene. The ME investigator estimated the victim was placed in the scene during
the late evening hours of Saturday November 27, 2021.
No items of identification such as a wallet, driver’s license or Social Security card were
found with the body. The victim had a tattoo on his right forearm that consisted of five
letters, A Y I A J.
With the help of the tattoo on the victim’s right forearm, the victim was identified as MIGUEL JOSUE ORTEGA, a 27-year-old resident of Decatur, Arkansas. ORTEGA’s cause
and manner of death was determined to be homicide by gunshot.
If you have any information on this homicide, please give me a call at 918-456-2583.

PUTTING OUT FIRES
Two men were sentenced in late April for setting
an inmate on fire in the Ottawa County Jail.
U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced Justin Randall Gering, 30, of Fairland, and
Tyler Levi Tavis, 23, of Miami for Arson of Property
of an Institution and Organization Receiving Federal Financial Assistance. Judge Frizzell ordered
both men to serve 60 months of imprisonment,
followed by 1 year of supervised release.
According to court records, in Dec. 2022 Tavis and Gering were in Ottawa County Jail. They
were caught on video surveillance wrapping a
sleeping inmate in toilet paper and setting it on
fire. The sleeping inmate was covered by a county
issued fire-retardant blanket, which kept him from
being severely burned. Other inmates at the jail
responded quickly to put the fire out, keeping it
from spreading further within the jail.
Gering and Tavis will remain in custody pending
transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
