IN THE PURSUIT OF
JUSTICE
A Tahlequah resident has been sentenced to
over five years in federal prison for involuntary
manslaughter and a federal firearm crime.
Kiah John Pritchett, 39, of Tahlequah, was sentenced to 63 months for one count of Involuntary
Manslaughter in Indian Country, and 63 months
for one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The terms will run concurrently.
The charges arose from investigations by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
On August 15, 2023, Pritchett pleaded guilty to one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. According to investigators, on July 4, 2021, Pritchett gave the victim a ride in his vehicle. An altercation broke out between Pritchett and his passenger along the route. During
the altercation, Pritchett unlawfully shot and killed the victim.
Pritchett, who had previously been convicted of a felony punishable by more
than one year imprisonment, was prohibited at the time from possessing a firearm.
The crimes occurred in Cherokee County, within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
ATF Dallas Field Division Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey Boshek II said, “Our
agents worked countless hours in the pursuit of justice for the victim and his
family. ATF is committed to combatting violent crime in our communities no
matter how long it takes. There is no amount of time in federal prison that will
bring the victim back. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as we know
Pritchett’s time in federal prison won’t ease their pain.”
“I commend the work of law enforcement in compiling an extensive and thorough investigation which allowed the government to prosecute the defendant
for unlawfully taking the victim’s life,” said United States Attorney Christopher J.
Wilson.
Pritchett will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to
a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable
sentence of incarceration.

THE OLD MAN DOWN
THE ROAD
A Broken Arrow man was taken into custody
after it was reported to authorities that he had
sexually assaulted a child.
According to Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office,
on April 26, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jake Carey was contacted by the Broken
Arrow Police Department in reference to a sexual
assault that they were investigating involving a juvenile. The victim stated that the suspect, identified as Jerry V. Lafayette, 77, of
Broken Arrow, had assaulted them on multiple occasions over a 4-year period.
This information was disclosed during a forensic interview that was conducted
by a trained forensic interviewer.
Upon receiving this information, Investigator Carey submitted the information
the District 27 DA Jack Thorp’s office for review and issuance of charges.
On May 20, Wagoner County Investigator’s received an arrest warrant for Lafayette. Two days later, on May 22, Wagoner County Investigators, deputies,
and Broken Arrow detectives located Lafayette in Broken Arrow at his residence
and served him with his arrest warrant
without incident. He was taken into
custody and transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center where
he was booked. He was charged with
Lewd or Indecent Acts to a Child under 16 and his bond set at $100,000.

AROUND THE NATION
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- Boxer Ryan Garcia is
speaking out on social media following his arrest for felony
vandalism at a Beverly Hills hotel.
In a series of posts to X on Saturday and Sunday, Garcia compared himself to Britney Spears and Donald Trump
and spoke about medical issues as well as his religious
beliefs.
Police say the boxer caused about $15,000 in damage
to the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills on Saturday.
After being booked, the fighter complained of a medical issue and was taken to Cedars
Sinai Medical Center.
He’s now out on bail.
“I feel like I’m Ryan Spears Aka Britney Spears,” he wrote in one post.
An attorney representing Garcia issued a statement that the boxer is going through some
mental health and family struggles.
“This comes at an extraordinarily challenging time for
Ryan, as he has been grappling with devastating news regarding his mother’s health,” said attorney Darin T. Chavez
with Tricarico Chavez LLP.
“First and foremost, we urge everyone to respect Ryan’s privacy during this difficult period. Ryan has been
open about his struggles with mental health over the years
and at this time he is dealing with an immense emotional burden. The support and understanding from fans and
the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges. We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the
resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring
that he receives the appropriate help and care to address
both his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for
continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on
his family and his health at this time.”
Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) faces suspension from the New
York Athletic Commission after he tested positive for the
banned substance ostarine in the lead-up to his majority
decision victory over Devin Haney in April in a major upset.
Garcia floored Haney three times but was ineligible to
win the WBC junior welterweight title after he was 3.2
pounds overweight.
A decision is forthcoming from the commission, and his
victory could be overturned.

BURNING MAN
A Sallisaw man was sentenced to five years in
federal prison for entering an apartment and then
trying to burn it down.
Christopher Dean Dod, 39, of Sallisaw, was
sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for Burglary in the Second Degree in Indian Country.
The charge arose from investigations by the
Sallisaw Police Department, the Oklahoma State
Fire Marshal, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
On February 6, 2023, Dod pleaded guilty to one count of a superseding indictment of Burglary in the Second Degree in Indian Country.
According to investigators, on April 6, 2022, Dod forced his way into a Sallisaw apartment, on the Cherokee Nation Reservation, and attempted to burn
the apartment by lighting combustible materials on the kitchen stove. Dod fled
the scene, but was apprehended and arrested a short time later by law enforcement after neighbors spotted Dod gaining entrance into a nearby residence.
Dod will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a
designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable
sentence of incarceration.
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

ADAIR COUNTY RESIDENT SENTENCED
FOR INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER
Bradley Jordan Eagle-Tate, 31, of Stilwell, was
sentenced to 36 months imprisonment for one
count of Involuntary Manslaughter in Indian Country.
The charge arose from an investigation by the
Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau
of Investigation.
On September 22, 2023, Eagle-Tate pleaded
guilty to the crime.
According to investigators, on June 27, 2022, Eagle-Tate crossed into the
oncoming lane of Oklahoma Highway 100 in a no-passing zone, clipping one
vehicle before colliding head-on with a second vehicle. The driver of the second
vehicle died at the scene, and a passenger in the first vehicle was left seriously
injured. Eagle-Tate admitted during the plea hearing that he had multiple drugs
in his system at the time of the collision and failed to devote full time and attention while driving his motor vehicle. The crime occurred in Adair County, within
the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of
Oklahoma.
Eagle-Tate will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to
a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable
sentence of incarceration.

RETIREMENT PLAN
A Muskogee resident was sentenced to 35 years
in federal court for kidnapping, carjacking and robbery.
Patrick Wayne McHenry, 30, of Muskogee, was
sentenced to 360 months for one count of Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, 360 months for one
count of Kidnapping, 180 months for one count of
Carjacking, and 180 months for one count of Robbery in Indian Country. Those terms will be served
concurrently. In addition, McHenry was sentenced
to 60 months for Use and Carry of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of
Violence. That term will be served consecutively.
The charges arose from investigations by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Muskogee Police Department.
On December 21, 2022, McHenry was found guilty of the charges by a federal
jury at trial.
According to investigators, on September 11, 2021, McHenry kidnapped an individual from a motel in Muskogee, on the Muscogee (Creek) Reservation, in the
Eastern District of Oklahoma, and held the victim captive during an ordeal that lasted
over two days. On September 12, 2021, McHenry, armed with a sawed-off shotgun,
targeted, robbed, and carjacked a second victim from the same motel in Muskogee.
“I applaud the work of law enforcement and prosecutors for their roles in holding
McHenry accountable for his spate of violence,” said United States Attorney Christopher J. Wilson.
McHenry will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation
to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable
sentence of incarceration.

AROUND THE STATE
Trail-blazing
On June 4, around 7:45 p.m., an Officer attempted to stop a red Chevy sedan near 5100
S. Riverside. The sedan ran a red light and was
driving on the rim of the front passenger tire.
Instead of stopping, the Chevy drove onto the
River Parks pedestrian trails and continued driving south. The suspect put numerous pedestrians and cyclists in danger on the trail, forcing
some of them to jump out of the way to avoid being
hit.
Officers quickly mobilized in the area and set up
stop sticks ahead of the pursuit, successfully deflating the driver side tires. The Chevy stopped near
7100 S. Riverside on the trail.
Officers gave the driver, identified as Wayne
Seward, numerous commands to exit the vehicle,
but he refused. Pepper balls were deployed in a
attempt to coerce the suspect out of the car. Ultimately with the help of a K9 Officer, Seward was
taken into custody.
Wayne Seward was arrested for Eluding and Obstructing Justice.
