you dropped a bomb on me
Roger Christopher Simpson, 45, of Lawton, was sentenced to 33 months’ imprisonment, and three years of supervised release
for Use Of Telephone To Make Bomb Threat.
Simpson was also ordered to pay restitution
in the amount of $26,529.14.
The charges arose from an investigation by
the Seminole Police Department, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma
Highway Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
On January 22, 2019 Simpson called a
business in Seminole and left a voicemail that
said there was a bomb in a car parked in the
parking lot of the business. As a result, the facility was locked down and law enforcement
agencies responded. They searched and cleared the parking lot and no bomb
was located. As a result of the bomb threat, the business was closed for four
hours and production halted.
United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester said, “Bomb threats are not taken
lightly. Law enforcement agencies respond in force to ensure the safety of the
public. Businesses shut down to prevent injury to employees and customers.
The defendant’s call caused law enforcement resources to be expended and
lost time, production, and money for the business, not to mention the emotional toll on all involved. I hope his sentence will serve as a deterrent to him
and a reminder to others who might be inclined to make such a call – bomb
threats are no laughing matter.”
The Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided
over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Clay Compton represented
the United States.

Duncan man Richard Shikief Campbell, 34,
is facing charges of felony assault when he
allegedly hit a nurse after he was taken to the
hospital on March 15.
According to the affidavit, a Duncan officer
was dispatched to Creekside Apartments at
approximately 4:06 a.m. He was advised that
a disturbance had been reported in one of the
apartments.
The officer went to the apartment and
made contact with a man who said his roommate, Campbell, had gone crazy. The officer
looked inside the unit and saw Campbell lying
on the floor. He was surrounded by a refrigerator shelf and items from the refrigerator.
When the officer asked the man what was
wrong, Campbell replied, “I need help.” He
told the officer that he had smoked PCP and a woman had given him AIDS.
Medical personnel arrived on scene and Campbell seemed to calm down a
little bit. He was transported to the hospital.
Around 4:54 a.m., the officer was dispatched to the Duncan Regional Hospital to investigate an assault - Campbell had allegedly assaulted a nurse.
The victim said Campbell punched her in the chest while she was trying to
administer medical care to the man. She told the officer she wanted to press
charges against him.
The officer placed Campbell under arrest. Campbell refused to walk, so officers dragged him to the patrol car.
On the way to jail, Campbell asked the officer multiple times what he had
done and where they were going. When they arrived at the Stephens County
Jail, Campbell peed in the floor and tried to lie down in it. He was carried to
a cell.
Campbell is being charged with assault and/or battery on emergency medical technician. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on May 20, 2020.

14 | APRIL 2020 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty JEFFERSON COUNTY
An alleged burglar in California whose luck ran out when he got stuck inside a
home’s chimney has been arrested.
Officers from the Ridgecrest Police Department were initially dispatched to a home
after reports of a triggered burglary alarm.
A few minutes later, police got another call — this time from a woman who claimed
that her friend was trapped in a chimney at the same address.
When officers arrived, they discovered Keith Schultz, 28, wedged in the chimney.
They also found signs of forced entry and an open back door, leading them to conclude that Shultz’s accomplices broke into the home with him, and then fled the scene
when they were unable to free him.
Schultz, who was covered in soot in his mug shot, was eventually rescued from the
chimney by firefighters. He was taken to Bakersfield jail and charged with burglary.
Police have arrested two men and seized guns and marijuana after a video emerged
of them appearing in a “mannequin challenge” styled as a shoot-out. The video (which
is very well-done, incidentally) has been shared over 86,000 times is since it was posted to Facebook on November 9, 2016, and quickly become a social-media sensation,
racking up over 173,000 YouTube views.
An official from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office told reporters that after viewing
the video, investigators served a search warrant. They reportedly found two handguns, a shotgun, a rifle, and marijuana that appeared to be packaged for sale at the
residence.
Police have charged Terry Martez Brown, 23, with drug-paraphernalia possession,
loitering, and promoting prison contraband. Kenneth Fennell White, 49, faces charges
of first-degree marijuana possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
28-year-old Ricardo Cardona spent 20 minutes bashing down the door of Hudson Meats in south Austin. When he finally got into the place, he grabbed a couple
of packages of sausages from the cooler and took them back outside. The security
camera captured him walking back in and into the 40°F meat cooler for a moment
before heading to the office area, where he found a warm coat to put on and settled in
to sleeping off the alcohol he’d consumed before his arrival at someone’s desk. When
workers arrived the next morning, they called police. Cardona woke up to the police
officers charging him with criminal trespass.
Florida man Derrick Walden was busted after a six-hour standoff with police. Walden
got into a heated argument with a woman, who called police at around 9:15 P.M. after
the fight began to get seriously heated. Walden then barricaded himself and his victim inside the apartment and threatened to shoot police if they tried to enter the building. Negotiators worked for hours, and at around 3 A.M. the next morning Walden
finally let the woman go. He then fell asleep, enabling officers to arrest Walden, and he
was charged with misdemeanor battery, felony battery, domestic violence (strangulation), probation violation, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
When a police officer in Kootenai County, Idaho, conducted a security check of
Stoddard Park, he was surprised to see a Jeep Cherokee sitting parked next to a vehicle belonging to the Street Department of Hayden City. He was also surprised to see a
funnel sticking out of the fuel tank of the Jeep, as well as a siphoning hose in the Street
Department vehicle and a gas can between the two vehicles. Inside the Jeep, a woman was out cold in the front seat with drug paraphernalia sitting on the Jeep’s center
console. When the officer woke the woman up, he realized that she was also sitting
on a small bag of meth. Backup deputies busted Alyssa Wolf, 22, for possession and
drug charges and 25-year-old Scott Miller for siphoning the gas and burglary charges.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we each can play a part in promoting the social and
emotional well-being of children and families in communities.
Parenting is one of the toughest and most important jobs
in America, and we all have a stake in ensuring that parents
have access to the resources and support they need to be successful. Entire communities play a role in helping families find
the strength they need to raise safe, healthy, and productive
children.
Here are some things you can do:
Get to know your neighbors. Problems seem less overwhelming when support is nearby.
Help a family under stress. Offer to babysit, help with chores and errands, or suggest
resources in the community that can help.
Reach out to children in your community. A smile or a word of encouragement can mean
a lot, whether it comes from a parent or a passing stranger.
Be an active community member. Lend a hand at local schools, community or faithbased organizations, children’s hospitals, social service agencies, or other places where
families and children are supported.
Keep your neighborhood safe. Start a Neighborhood Watch or plan a local “National
Night Out” community event. You will get to know your neighbors while helping to keep your
neighborhood and children safe.
Learn how to recognize and report signs of child abuse and neglect. Reporting your
concerns may protect a child and get help for a family who needs it.

A Missouri church leader and professor used Grindr to connect with students
at his university and then attempted to compensate them for sexual acts using
an Arby’s gift card, among other unconventional gifts. Barry Poyner, 57, a Kirksville, Mo., resident, professor at Truman State University and a church elder with
the Kirksville Church of Christ, used the handle “DILF” on Grindr to connect with
male students at Truman State, according to the Daily Express. Poyner then
offered to pay for sexual acts in unorthodox ways, telling an undercover officer
that he “might throw in an Arby’s card” along with paying to fuel up the officer’s
vehicle at a local gas station. Poyner said he was interested in a “sugar daddy
relationship” and that he’d provided partners with gift cards, clothes and cold
hard cash in the past, the Daily Express reported. Police set up the undercover
account after receiving a tip about Poyner’s use of the app, which is similar to
Tinder but specific to gay, bisexual and bi-curious men. Poyner offered to pay
for the fuel prior to the sex acts, and officers set up a sting at a local gas station,
according to the Daily Express. Poyner attempted to flee the scene when he
saw the cops, but only made it several blocks before giving up and pulling over.
When confronted, Poyner denied that he was there to provide gas, or Arby’s
Reubens, in exchange for sex acts, claiming instead that he was simply trying
to help out a student. Poyner has been charged with patronizing prostitution,
a misdemeanor, and faces up to six months in prison and a fine of $1,000 if
convicted, the Daily Express reported.
Rizwan Fadnis and Rajesh Surve, both 33, were arrested outside a bus depot in Mumbai for being in possession of 7 kg of whale vomit valued at over
$275,000 reports The Hindu. The substance, also known as ambergris, is unlawful to possess without a license. From the article: “The accused tried to
sell the whale vomit by claiming that its consumption helps increase the libido.
Ambergris is mainly used in perfumes and cosmetics and fetches a handsome
price based on its age. It has an unpleasant smell soon after it is secreted, and
as it ages, starts producing a sweet smell,” an officer said.
A white man in Maryland wearing blackface robbed a bank, police said. The
suspect robbed a PNC bank in Perryville, Maryland, a town about 40 miles
northeast of Baltimore, near the Delaware and Pennsylvania borders. “We are
seeking the public’s help in identifying the below pictured subject,” Perryville
police wrote on Facebook. Police described the suspect as “a white male, with
paint on his face,” who seemed to be in his late 20s to early 30s. Authorities did
not specify how much money he may have been able to steal from the bank.
A Florida motorist who had an open 38-ounce can of Budweiser in his car
door reportedly told police that the crack cocaine they also found in his vehicle
must have come through an act of nature. Zak Joseph, according to an affidavit
posted on the Smoking Gun, said the “wind must have placed it there” when
Fort Pierce found cocaine residue in his car. He also theorized the police had
planted the coke, which was found alongside what appeared to be a crack
pipe. The east Florida cops reportedly said the 37-year-old man had earlier
been spotted drinking in his car in a hotel parking lot. Officers say the hotel
where he was hanging out is a hotbed for drugs and prostitution. When Joseph’s vehicle pulled away and allegedly rolled past a stop sign, officers in an
unmarked car pulled him over and claimed to have seen him trying to conceal
his beverage. Officers also noted Joseph’s blurry eyes and said he was “very
confrontational and looking around the vehicle as if to conceal another item.”
That alleged item was a baggie of residue that tested positive for crack cocaine.
He was booked on charges including possession of paraphernalia. He maintained the drugs are not his.

A former city administrator of Fredonia, Kan.,

and home in Fredonia.
McAllister commended Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the
Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Assistant U.S.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty GRADY COUNTY 23 | APRIL 2020
A wanted man was arrested in the early morning hours
of March 13 after a 5.5-hour standoff against Chickasha
police officers and Grady County deputies.
Reports state the officers were contacted at approximately 10 p.m. on March 12 and notified that an unwanted man was at a residence in the 1700 block of 7Th
Street. The man, later identified as James Burgess, also
had three felony outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Burgess was wanted in Oklahoma City for failure to
appear on possession of a firearm after conviction of a
felony and order to appear and pay, and in Rockwell,
Texas, for a warrant for probation revocation. He also
had a misdemeanor warrant out of Grady County for domestic assault and
battery.
When officers arrived at the location, they were immediately met with resistance from the wanted man. Burgess was standing on the porch when they
pulled up to the house, but he ran inside and barricaded the door when he saw
the officers.
A lengthy standoff ensued – 5 and a half hours, to be exact.
At that point, officers used OC gas and explosive distraction to enter the
home. They found Burgess hiding and place him under arrest. The man was
booked into the Grady County Law Enforcement Center.
