An intoxicated Enid man was arrested January 29 after he allegedly grabbed a pizza from a delivery driver’s hands and shouted, “No money tonight!”
27-year-old Kristopher Michael Hays told police he didn’t steal
the pizza; he was just going to pay for it later.
According to the affidavit, Enid officers were dispatched to an
apartment building in the 4100 block of S. La Mesa at approximately 9:36 p.m. They made contact with a pizza delivery driver,
who told them that the suspect didn’t pay for his pizza. She said
Hays came to the door when she rang the doorbell, but something
seemed off. She described him as being “drunk, high, or mentally
disabled.”
When she told the man he owed her $16.57 for the pizza, he
looked at her and “snatched” the food from her hands. He shut the door, which locked automatically, and ran upstairs. When the driver yelled that he owed her money, he replied, “No
money tonight!”
Officers went into the apartment building and knocked on Hays’ door, but no one answered. They obtained the man’s number from the delivery receipt and tried to call him. Officers heard a cellphone buzzing inside of the apartment but once again, there was no answer.
After failing to convince the alleged thief to open the door, police forced entry into the
home.
They kicked down the door and found Hays lying under a comforter on a bed. Only his head
was visible. They told him to show his hands, but he didn’t obey. He did, however, jump off
the bed and lunge for one of the officer’s guns. Another officer swiftly deployed his Taser and
took the man down.
This time, Hays obeyed.
When officers escorted Hays out of the house, the jilted delivery driver positively identified
him as the man who nabbed the pizza pie out of her hands. Police found a pizza box in the
man’s apartment that matched the order number the driver gave them.
When they arrived at the jail, Hays started crying and said he was “so f----- up” from drinking too much. He also told police he didn’t steal the pizza – he was going to pay for it later.
Hays is being charged with grand larceny, knowingly concealing stolen property and assault and battery on police officer. His bond was set at $12,500, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on March 7, 2016.

James Allen Coddington,

convicted of murder and
sentenced to die in 2003 for
the 1997 beating death of
Albert Hale, 73. Authorities
said Coddington beat Hale
on the head with a hammer
because Hale wouldn’t give
him money to buy drugs.
The appeals court
overturned Coddington’s original death sentence, but a
diff erent jury imposed another death sentence in 2008.
The court’s opinion said jurors at Coddington’s second
sentencing trial found that Hales’ death was atrocious
and cruel and that Coddington posed a continuing threat
to society.
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the
death sentence.

February Is Teen Dating Violence
Awareness and Prevention Month
During this month, and at all times, parents need to be aware of
the issue of teen dating violence. For as much as domestic violence
among adults is an issue that is too often not discussed -- and too often kept a secret by the victim -- teen dating violence is even less discussed, and even less reported by victims. Nevertheless, in a recent
survey of over 4,000 9th through 12th graders, one in five reported
being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.
The sad fact is that two out of three teens in an abusive relationship
don’t ever tell anyone about the abuse. For girls, when they experience serious sexual abuse they only report it to an authority figure six
percent of the time. This makes it very difficult to know when your
teen has become a victim of dating violence.
Still, there are warning signs that every parent and teacher can and
should look for. Because teenage years are difficult (and secretive)
enough as it is, it’s important to be aware of these warning signs, and
to approach your teen in a way that will make them feel comfortable
talking with you.

Jeet arrested for drugs after
altercation with woman
aroung the area
Perry man Satish Chand Jeet Jr., 39, led officers straight
to the stash in his car after an argument with a woman and a
minor traffic accident resulting in a flat tire.
On January 18, at approximately 4:50 p.m., a Perry police
officer was dispatched to Seventh and Maple due to a possible fight/domestic in progress. When he arrived, an officer
on scene was speaking to a woman who was involved in the
altercation. He saw a man sitting in a car near the scene.
The officer advised that the other party involved in the argument was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
According to the affidavit, the officer made contact with the
man and quickly determined that he appeared to be under the
influence of a narcotic-like substance. He had constant bodily
movement, excessive sweating, paranoia, irritability, uncontrollable jaw clenching, and unpredictable behavior. The
more the officer tried to ask Jeet what happened, the more
irritated Jeet became.
The officer determined the man was under the influence of methamphetamine, and he
placed him under arrest for suspicion of public intoxication.
Jeet later admitted that he had been using meth before the incident.
After the officer placed the man in handcuffs, Jeet told him that the car he was sitting in was
his. The officer noticed the vehicle had a flat tire – after speaking to the woman involved, he
determined Jeet had been driving the car and hit a curb, causing the tire to go flat. The officer
decided to have the vehicle towed from the scene.
During inventory of Jeet’s car, the officer found a clear syringe containing a clear liquid
substance, a container filled with a crystal-like substance, 16 clear baggies, three baggies containing a white crystal-like substance and an assortment of cash totaling $201. The white
crystal substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Jeet is being charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substance including possession with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication
and obstructing officer. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on March 3, 2016.

Kingfisher man Michael Yarbrough, 19, turned himself into
police on January 31 and admitted
to stealing a donation jar containing $200 from a local convenience
store.
According to the affidavit, a Kingfisher deputy was dispatched to the
store in the 200 block of S. Chisolm
in Dover shortly after 9 a.m. on
January 25. An employee told him
someone had stolen a donation jar
from the store and a security camera captured the whole thing.
Footage from the camera showed
Yarbrough walking into the store
on January 19 at approximately 9:26 p.m. He then left with the jar,
which was located by the register.
The employee told the deputy she believed the jar contained about
$200 in cash.
On January 31, shortly after 8 p.m., the deputy was advised that
Yarbrough was at the sheriff’s office, and he wanted to turn himself
in for the theft. The deputy met with the man, who said he wanted to
talk about the incident. He told the deputy he had been drinking at a
party and became intoxicated. In his drunken stupor, he went to the
convenience store to get a pack of cigarettes. He saw the donation jar
and left the store.
A few minutes later, he returned to the register and asked the
employee if he could exchange the cigarettes. When the employee
turned away to grab the smoked, Yarbrough said he grabbed the donation jar and left the store.
Yarbrough is being charged with petit larceny. His bond was set at
$1,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 22, 2016.

WHEELER
An intoxicated Fairview man,
25-year-old Lonnie Lloyd Wheeler
Jr., was locked up on January 26 for
allegedly destroying his father’s TV
and threatening to kill his family.
According to the police report, a
Fairview officer was dispatched to a
possible domestic at a residence in
the 400 block of S. Fifth at approximately 7:39 p.m. The reporting party told the officer he returned home
from a doctor’s appointment and
found his son drunk and disorderly.
When he told his offspring to leave,
the man said he refused and became
combative.
During the argument, Wheeler punched his father’s television,
shattering the screen. He also allegedly threatened to kill his mom
and the family dog.
When the officer went to speak to the man about the incident, he
noticed Wheeler was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred,
and he smelled like alcohol. He also had a cut on his right hand.
The officer asked him what happened – Wheeler said the dog bit
him.
During the investigation, the officer was advised that Wheeler had
several outstanding warrants. He placed the man under arrest and
transported him to jail.
During booking, Wheeler was noncompliant and threatened violent acts toward officers. At one point, he exclaimed, “If you unhandcuff me, it’s going to get crazy in here!”
Wheeler is being charged with malicious injury to property under
$1,000, breach of peace and threaten to perform act of violence. His
bond was set at $3,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
February 24, 2016.
