Enid man Edward Earl Thornton, 51, was
arrested for driving a stolen dump truck on
August 23.
According to the affidavit, an Enid officer
was dispatched to the 400 block of North
Fourth at approximately 5:48 p.m. due to a
fight. Dispatch advised the suspect had fled
the scene in a dump truck, striking a trailer
on the way out.
The officer spotted the dump truck
headed west on Chestnut. He turned on
his lights, but the dump truck just kept on
trucking. The truck eventually came to a
stop in the 200 block of East Ash. The driver
stepped out of the truck and the officer recognized him as Thornton. He asked the man why he didn’t stop. Thornton
replied, “Well, I stopped now. That’s what matters.”
Thornton said the owner let him use the truck so he and his girlfriend could
get her belongings from her ex-boyfriend’s. Thornton was unable to stand
up without leaning on the truck for assistance. He admitted to drinking, but
denied that he was drunk.
When the officer asked him if he hit a trailer with the truck, Thornton said
he just moved it out of the way.
Thornton agreed to standard field sobriety tests, but the man was unable
to prove that he was sober.
The owner of the truck said he never gave Thornton permission to drive it.
He said that the truck didn’t have a battery, so Thornton would have had to
locate one before driving anywhere. He also wasn’t sure where the suspect
found the truck’s keys.
The reporting party said a friend told him there was a truck in his front yard
and the front door to the house was open. The RP found the trailer pushed
partially onto the porch. He also told police that the woman with Thornton
was his ex-girlfriend and she was there to get some of her belongings from
his home. He said he never told her she couldn’t get her stuff, he just didn’t
know that she would be there that day.
Thornton is being charged with unauthorized use of vehicle, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, failure to yield for emergency
vehicle, driving with license suspended and breaking and entering dwelling
without permission. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on October 3, 2016.

According to the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, 264,541 Oklahomans have a
state gun carry license as of August 1, 2016. Do you believe gun ownership deters or
exacerbates the problem of gun violence? What is your solution to gun violence?
Stephanie S: Guns themselves do not create violence. It is the careless individuals, who for one probably obtain them illegally and secondly, use them as a tool
to commit their crimes. I for one am a registered gun owner and as such, have Peace
of mind in knowing I won’t be a statistic and I won’t go down without being able to at
least attempting to defend myself.
Brett S: For every action, there is a reaction of equal and opposite force. It’s up
to the population to make sure the opposite force is applied in time to save their own
lives or the lives of another. RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF

Dawn H: Criminals do not obey the laws. These gun restrictions are for law abiding citizens. That means, criminals get to keep their gun but law abiding people do not.

Ponca City woman Anita Laverne Rhodd, 28, allegedly
stole a vehicle and then picked up two men so they could
cook some hot dogs on August 15.
She never did make it to the cook-out.
According to the affidavit, a Noble County deputy checked
a license plate shortly at 11 a.m. while traveling through Red
Rock. The check revealed that the tag expired in February
2017. Before driving away from the car, he noticed it was
stopped in the driveway of a residence in the 300 block of
Fourth Street.
The deputy continued patrolling the county and left the Red Rock area. Dispatch later advised that the tag number he asked them to check earlier was
reported stolen in Ponca City.
The deputy went back to Red Rock and found the vehicle traveling southbound on Anna Street. He placed the driver, later identified as Rhodd, in handcuffs and told both male passengers to step out of the vehicle.
One of the men said Rhodd and the other passenger had just picked him up
from a residence at Third and Anna Street. The man appeared as though he
had just woken up.
When the deputy asked him if that was the case, the man replied, “Yeah, they
came over and woke me up. We were going across town to my [uncle’s] house
to fix hot dogs. That’s why there are hot dogs on the dash.”
The other passenger told police Rhodd had just picked him up from the jail
in Stillwater.
The deputy then spoke with Rhodd and asked her who the car belonged to.
She told the deputy a first name, but she said she didn’t know that man’s last
name.
When the deputy consulted with the investigating officer out of Ponca City,
he identified the owner of the vehicle (who had reported the car as stolen) with
the same name Rhodd used.
The deputy informed Rhodd she was under arrest.
Rhodd is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property and driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked. Her bond was set at $1,500,
and she is scheduled to appear in court on September 7, 2016.

A Tulsa woman tried to lie her way out of
jail after a car accident in Kingfisher County
on August 17.
30-year-old Karley Sharee Williams allegedly gave police a false name because she was
driving a vehicle with a suspended license.
According to the police report, a Kingfisher
officer responded to a single vehicle accident
on U.S. Hwy 81 and Locust Street shortly after 7:30 a.m. The driver of the vehicle told the
officer she was on her way to El Reno to pick
up her sister’s husband who was being released from jail. She said she didn’t have her
driver’s license with her, but she gave them a
name and birthdate.
A check of the woman’s information revealed that her driver’s license
had expired in June 2016.
The officer gave her a citation for the expired license and let her leave.
Around 9 a.m., a woman called the Kingfisher Police Department and
told an officer that she had received a phone call from a wrecker service.
The employee told her that her son’s car had been involved in an accident
and was totaled. She said the vehicle was in both her son’s and Williams’
names.
The woman gave officers a physical description of Williams -- she
matched the suspect the officer had dealt with earlier. The woman told
police she knew Williams had a suspended license and wasn’t supposed
to be driving.
Sure enough, officers checked Williams’s license and were advised that
it was suspended. They later received a book-in photo from the Canadian
County Sheriff’s Officer. Williams was definitely the woman involved in the
traffic accident earlier that day.
Williams is being charged with falsely personate another to create liability and driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked. Her bond
was set at $2,500, and she is scheduled to appear in court on September
15, 2016.

Fairview man Jason Burl Kammerzell, 42, allegedly sought vengeance after a woman placed a note
on his door for bug infestation. He was arrested for
slashing her tire and damaging the rim of the vehicle.
According to the police report, a Fairview officer
was contacted by the victim shortly after 9 a.m. on
August 24. She told him her vehicle had been damaged the night before. The victim said her husband
walked outside around 11 p.m. on August 23 and
saw a man crouched down and another standing
next to the vehicle.
The man yelled, “What are you doing? Stay there!”
The men took off running as the victim walked outside to see what was
going on. She identified one of the suspects as “one of them I see walking
by the maintenance shop all the time.” She said she didn’t know the man’s
name, but she would recognize him if she saw him again.
The couple looked at the car, but they were initially unable to see any
damage since it was dark outside.
The next morning when they moved the car, they noticed the slashed
tire and damaged rim.
The officer knew that Kammerzell was a local man known to walk around
town. The day of the incident, the victim put a notice on the door of Kammerzell’s residence in the 300 block of South Eighth for bug infestation.
The officer was at the man’s residence a few days before, and he had
seen the bugs on the walls of the man’s home. The officer showed the victim a photo lineup of six men, including Kammerzell. Both the victim and
her husband positively identified Kammerzell as the suspect.
A records check revealed the man had a lengthy history of drug possession and burglary charges.
Kammerzell is being charged with malicious injury to property under
$1,000. His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on September 28, 2016.
