When a woman gave 30-year-old Enid man
John Robert Grapes a noticed to move out of
her apartment in five days, he became angry
and combative toward everyone, including the
woman, police officers, EMS personnel, and
hospital staff.
On September 20, around 5:39 p.m, the
woman called 911 and told a dispatcher she
had previously allowed Grapes to move into
her apartment in the 1000 block of N. Independence, but she had just served him with
an eviction notice. He became angry and was
being aggressive to her, so she called for help.
According to the affidavit, Grapes started
being aggressive toward officers as soon as
they arrived. They tried to explain to the man that he had five days to find
another place to live, but he wasn’t listening. He refused to cooperate or
listen to officers.
At one point, he kicked an officer in the leg.
The officers were eventually able to get the man on the ground, but he
continued to fight and struggle. He told officers that no, he actually wasn’t
under arrest.
One of the officers deployed his taser, which knocked the man to the
ground. Grapes continued to resist, but officers were able to place him in
handcuffs.
Being in handcuffs didn’t seem to do much to Grapes. He started yelling at officers, calling them “punk-ass bitches” and threatening to kick their
“asses.”
EMS arrived to check on the man -- Grapes started yelling and cursing at
them too. He requested to see a doctor, but EMS personnel refused to let
him ride with them. Officers informed the man they would take him to the
hospital in a police car.
Grapes became combative again, kicking an officer in the face. An officer
tased him a second time in an attempt to get him under control.
It didn’t work.
When they arrived at the hospital, he yelled and cussed at hospital stuff.
He continued to scream at officers when they wheeled him out of the hospital.
Grapes is being charged with three counts of assault and battery on police
officer, assault on police officer, resisting an officer and obstructing officer.
His bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
October 31, 2016.

When police in Vancouver, Canada, asked to search Jason Pauchay’s apartment for drugs, he was not a suspect—in fact, they were looking for someone
else. That all changed when they got a look at how his name was listed on his
cell phone: “Jason Pauchay Drug Dealer.”
When Stephan Crane broke into the Ravelli Republic (Montana) newsroom,
he used the computers to watch porn and check Facebook. Then Crane
doused the office with a fire extinguisher, took some candy, and left. It wasn’t
difficult to find him, however; the police just followed the trail of stolen M&Ms
that led to his sister’s place across the way.
As two men waited on line at the coffee shop to pay their bill, a third cut in
front of them. He threw a drink at the clerk, and demanded all the money from
the till. Temporarily surprised, the men quickly recovered and handcuffed the
crook. Apparently in his rush the criminal didn’t notice they were police officers—in full uniform.
In Mesa, Arizona, a home break-in was foiled when the burglar jumped
through the bedroom window—and got trapped in a clothes hamper. Cops
took it from there. (That definitely wasn’t the kind of clean getaway he had
planned.)
Recently, a woman in Fresno, California, was stopped at a DUI checkpoint
for being soused. Ever helpful, she offered up this info: “My husband’s right
behind me, and he’s even drunker than I am.”

Man arrested in Shawnee, Kansas, Wal-Mart attack
involving Good Samaritans
A suspect was arrested and charged September 13 in
the Sunday attack at a Shawnee Wal-Mart in which two
Good Samaritans intervened.
Shawnee police said 27-year-old Arthur Fred Wyatt III
of Overland Park was charged in Johnson County District
Court with attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated kidnapping and attempted aggravated robbery.
A 39-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman who had been
shopping at the Wal-Mart at Shawnee Mission Parkway
and Maurer Road was attacked in the parking lot about
1:30 p.m. September 11. Two men approached her while
she was putting her child in a safety seat, police said. She was struck in the head.
A Good Samaritan tried to intervene, and one of the attackers shot him. A second
Good Samaritan then shot one of the attackers, killing him.
The other attacker escaped on foot. A man who fit that person’s description was
detained but later released.
Wyatt was arrested September 13. Shawnee police spokesman Maj. Dan Tennis
said he could not discuss details of the arrest because the case was now in the hands
of the district attorney.
The Good Samaritan who was shot, a 33-year-old Kansas City man, remained in
serious condition in a hospital September 13. The woman who was attacked was
released from a hospital on September 12.
The attacker who was killed was identified Monday as 28-year-old John W. Simmons
III of Kansas City.
Ryan J: Everybody involved is from kansas city. Strange.
Jailbirds: Sorry... Shawnee, Kansas. It has been corrected in the story, but it was
in the headline.
Ryan J: Oh ok i was thinking shawnee oklahoma. Makes more since now.
Winter B: He did the right thing. What if no body was there to help her? What
if they wanted her dead and her child for sex trafficking. It could’ve been worse if he
wouldn’t have stepped in.
Jonathan B: Was the good samaritans actions justified? How is that even a
question? They most likely saved that womans life from a couple of scum bags.
Derek O: We need more good ppl with guns thats the only thing that will stop the
bad guys
Stacie R: Hallelujah for the good Samaritan! Thugs deserve bad consequences
Michelle K: It is so wrong that a person teeing to be a good Samaritan and helping a defenseless woman with a child, gets charged!
Dagmar W: The Good Samaritans did the right thing!!!!!!!
Michael W: Such a crime he didn’t kill the other guym
Don L: But his mother said he was at home.

Ever heard the saying, “The customer always
comes first?” Well, if you’re a drug dealer and you
don’t apply this motto, you could land yourself in jail.
Just ask Jeremy Owens and Shannon Folsom of
Savanna, Okla.
According to reports, Owens and Folsom lived at
the Knight’s Inn on Highway 69. Folsom managed
the motel. Apparently she and Owens were dealing
drugs out of their motel room and decided they were
going to stiff one of their meth customers.
On September 10, a woman tried to buy some
meth from Folsom. She paid her money for some
meth, but Folsom never gave it to her. Owens and
Folsom taunted the woman saying she “could always call the cops and tell them her dope money
was stolen.”
Well, the woman did just that. She notified authorities and the District 18 Drug and Violent Crime Task

Perry woman Destri Sharie Vester, 22, was arrested on September 10 after an officer saw her
driving around town and he knew she didn’t have
a driver’s license.
According to the police report, a Perry police
officer spotted Vester in the 500 block of Kaw
Street at approximately 8:37 p.m. Knowing that
the woman didn’t have a valid driver’s license, the
officer stopped her vehicle in the 400 block of
Jackson North.
Vester stepped out of her vehicle and started
walking away from the officer. He told her to stop
and asked if she had a driver’s license -- she said
no.
When the officer advised her she was under arrest, she took off running
between two nearby houses.
The officer told the woman to get on the ground. She complied, and he
placed her in handcuffs.
Before placing her in the patrol car, the officer asked Vester if she had
anything illegal on her person. She replied, “I have a load of stuff.” He asked
her where the stuff was -- she told him it was in her bra.
The officer asked her to remove the stuff and hand it over. She removed
two small clear baggies from her bra. One of them was empty and the other
contained a white crystal-like substance.
The substance later tested positive for meth.
Vester is being charged with obstructing an officer, driving without a driver’s license and possession of controlled dangerous substance. Her bond
was set at $2,500, and she is scheduled to appear in court on October 21,
2016.

A 20-year-old Kingfisher man was locked
up after he allegedly broke into a woman’s
home on September 23 and went through
her purse, stealing her bank card and some
jewelry.
When the victim confronted him, Harvey
Gene Stotts Jr. ran from the house in the
500 block of S. 9th.
According to the affidavit, the victim contacted a Kingfisher officer around 6:15 a.m.
She said she heard someone knocking on
the back door, but she didn’t get out of bed
to see who it was. When she heard the door
open, she went to see who was inside her
home.
As she was walking through the residence,
she fell over her purse that was lying in the floor. She checked its contents
and realized that someone had taken her bank card and some rings. The
victim went into her grandson’s room and found Stotts. She told the man
to get out of the house and to giver her back her stuff. They started arguing, and the victim said Stotts threw a small bag at her before fleeing the
residence on a bike.
Her card was in the bag, but her jewelry was not.
Another woman who was in the home told the officer that she stayed the
night with her boyfriend. She was woken up around 6:15 a.m. and heard
someone in the home. When she went to investigate, she and the victim
found Stotts downstairs.
After a brief altercation, Stotts gave the victim back her bank card and
“someone else’s” jewelry.
Stotts admitted to stealing the stuff from the victim’s purse because he
had a drug problem.
Stotts arrested on a complaint of grand larceny in a dwelling. He is
scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2016.

Fairview woman Christina Dann Smith, 45, allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest and her son
on the hand during an altercation involving a lighter on
September 15.
She claimed she had a seizure and didn’t remember
anything.
According to the affidavit, a Major County deputy
was dispatched to a residence on E. CR 52 shortly
after 2 a.m. to investigate the stabbing. When he arrived, he met with a man who was bleeding from his
hand. The man said his mom stabbed his step-dad in
the chest; his hand was cut while he was trying to take
the knife from his mother.
Officers found the suspect sitting on a chair in the living room -- her clothes
were covered in blood.
Two other people in the home told officers the same account of events.
They said Smith had been drinking, and she stabbed her husband.
The victim told the officer Smith had been violent toward him all day, hitting
him and throwing things at him. He said she stabbed him while they were
arguing over a lighter.
A doctor told the officer that the object Smith allegedly used to stab her
husband had gone into his chest deep enough to strike the man’s rib bone.
Smith claimed that she had a seizure earlier that day, and none of her family members called an ambulance. She said she’s not sure what happens or
what she does during the seizures.
Smith told the officer she and her sons picked up some pizza and liquor,
and they all played games together while eating and drinking. She said she
and her husband later started arguing about a lighter. The next thing she
knew, her sons were on top of her, holding her down and trying to take a knife
out of her hand.
She insisted that she didn’t remember anything that happened after her
seizure.
Smith is being charged with two counts of assault and battery with a deadly
weapon. Her bond was set at $100,000, and she is scheduled to appear in
court on October 13, 2016.
