NELSON
24-year-old Waynoka man Brian Nelson allegedly stole a fuel card from a vehicle at his job in Kansas and used it to fill up a vehicle on December 30.
Unfortunately for him, the card belonged to the
Woods County Fire Department.
According to the police report, a fire department
employee contacted an officer at approximately 5
p.m. to inform him that the card had been used
that day. The employee said someone from a local
business had just called him and said that Nelson
had used a fire department fuel card to fill up a
truck.
The officer went to the business and spoke to several employees who
admitted they saw Nelson put $47.01 worth of gas in another man’s truck
using the fuel card that belonged to the Woods County Fire Department.
The next morning on December 31, an officer received a copy of
the charges on the card from the business. Apparently, this wasn’t the
first time Nelson had used the card. The charges totaled approximately
$301.16.
The officer spoke to Nelson, who said the card was at his mother’s
house. The officer went to the residence in the 2100 block of Waynoka
Street shortly after noon to retrieve the card.
On January 1, Nelson went to the police department and agreed to
speak to officers about the incident. He told police he went to work at a
saloon in Sun City, Kansas, on September 19, 2016. He was asked to
move a truck and he found the card in the cup holder of the vehicle. He
said he didn’t know it belonged to the fire department.
Officers placed the man under arrest and transported him to the Woods
County Jail.
Nelson is being charged with taking/receiving stolen credit or debit
card. His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on February 14, 2017.
NELSON ARRESTED FOR STEALING
CARD FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT

Ronald Eugene Harrison Jr., 21,
had his plans to rob an antique store
foiled when the owner caught him in
the act and held him at gunpoint until police arrived. The Woodward man
claimed that he saw someone break
in and he was just trying to help, but
security footage showed differently.
On January 1 at approximately 1:38
a.m., a Woodward officer was dispatched to the business in the 800
block of Main Street to investigate a
broken glass alarm call. Dispatch advised that the store owner was armed
and was holding one suspect at gunpoint.
When the officer arrived on scene,
he noticed that the door to the business had been busted out. He also
saw a man he identified as Harrison sitting on the floor. The store owner
was standing nearby with his pistol holstered.
As the officer placed Harrison in handcuffs, the man said he only
entered the store because he saw someone break the window. He told
the officer he knew the store owner, so he was just trying to stop the
burglar.
No one else was located inside of the store.
The store owner told police he lived on the second floor of the building. His alarm company called him and alerted him that the glass on his
front door had been broken, so he walked downstairs to investigate.
He found Harrison standing behind the cash register. The suspect tried
to run, but the owner told him that if he didn’t stop, he would shoot
him.
The owner also said that he only knew Harrison as a customer.
When searching the man, police found that the suspect had a pocketful of quarters and dimes totaling $13.50.
Officers watched security footage, and they saw Harrison standing
in front of an open cash register. The owner said he was missing some
quarters and dimes, but he wasn’t sure how much was gone.
There were blood droplets around the front door, but Harrison didn’t
have any cuts on him, leading police to believe that his accomplice was
able to escape.
Harrison is being charged with burglary in the first degree. His bond
was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January
23, 2017.

A Perry man was arrested for suspicion of DUI
after an officer stopped his vehicle for a defective
brake light on December 21.
48-year-old John David Henley admitted he had
been drinking a little bit.
According to the police report, a Perry officer saw
a vehicle facing eastbound at Sixth and Fir at approximately 8:58 p.m. He noticed that the vehicle
appeared to have a defective third brake light and
stopped the car in the 600 block of Grove.
The officer approached the vehicle and informed
the driver, identified as Henley, why he pulled his vehicle over. Henley’s
speech was very slurred, and it was difficult for the officer to understand
what the man was saying.
After contacting dispatch to clear the man of warrants and make sure he
had a valid ID, the officer asked Henley to step out of his vehicle. The officer
immediately noticed the strong odor of alcohol. Henley was also unsteady
on his feet and had to hold on to his vehicle for balance.
The officer asked the man if he had been drinking. Henley replied, “A
little bit.”
The officer attempted to administer sobriety tests, but he had to stop
due to Henley’s safety. The man almost fell down several times during the
tests.
The officer placed Henley under arrest and transported him to jail.
A breath test revealed the man’s BrAC level was 0.13, more than one
and a half times the legal limit.
Henley is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the
influence of alcohol. His bond was set at $1,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on February 23, 2017.

Allison, Texas, man Jacob Tom Puryear,
28, was locked up in Kingfisher after an officer saw him driving on the center median on
December 27.
According to the affidavit, the officer was
traveling northbound in the area of Douglas Avenue when a vehicle approached him
shortly after 10 p.m. The vehicle was traveling
on the center median.
The officer watched the vehicle as it drove
left of center before continuing back onto the
brick median. He activated his emergency
lights in an attempt to stop the man. It took
several blocks, but the driver, identified as
Puryear, eventually came to a stop on the United and Atwood’s parking lot.
When the officer approached the vehicle, he immediately noticed the
odor of alcohol. Puryear had slurred speech and a dazed look on his face.
Another officer arrived to assist, and the officer escorted the man to his
patrol car. Puryear admitted to drinking two beers that night.
When he was unable to locate his insurance verification, he told the officer
to just write him a ticket.
The officer asked the man if he thought he could pass a sobriety test
-- Puryear said yes. When the officer asked him to exit the vehicle, Puryear
then said he never agreed to any tests. After the officer explained the tests,
Puryear agreed and stepped out of the patrol car. The man was unsteady
on his feet, and he kept losing his balance during the tests.
The officer placed him under arrest and put him in the patrol car. Officers
searched the car and found two open bottles in the vehicle.
While they were looking in the vehicle, they heard a loud bang and glass
shattering. They discovered that Puryear had busted out the back driver’s
side window of the patrol car.
While an officer took pictures of the broken window, Puryear smiled as
though he was proud of himself.
The officer informed him that he was going to have to pay for the window.
Puryear responded that it was something else he wasn’t going to pay for.
Puryear is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the
influence of alcohol, malicious injury to property under $1,000, transporting
open container of beer and failure to pay taxes due to state. His bond was
set at $2,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 23, 2017.

Enid man Luis Angel Nunez-Moreno,
28, allegedly crashed his vehicle into
some trees after a night of drinking on
the morning of December 17.
He told police he had only had two
beers.
According to the affidavit, a Major
County deputy was dispatched to the
area of Highway 412 and Highway 58
in Ringwood at approximately 6:35
a.m. The reporting party advised that
a vehicle that was still running was
stopped in the middle of the road with
no lights on.
Another officer who was already at
the scene said the driver had run off the roadway.
When the deputy arrived on scene, he met with the other officer who
informed him that the driver of the suspect vehicle was extremely intoxicated. The deputy noticed that the car was in the north ditch of the
westbound lane on Highway 412, and it appeared that the driver had
crashed into some trees.
The officer advised that he had located two empty beer cans and an
almost-empty bottle of vodka in the vehicle.
The deputy approached the suspect, identified as Nunez-Moreno, but
decided not to administer sobriety tests due to the man’s bloodshot watery eyes, extremely slurred speech and the fact that he was unsteady on
his feet and having trouble walking on his own. He placed the man under
arrest and transported him to jail.
At the sheriff’s office, Nunez-Moreno agreed to take the state’s breath
test and stated that he had only consumed two beers. The result of his
first breath test was .30, more than three times the legal limit, so he had
probably had a little more than that.
Nunez-Moreno is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances, transporting
open container, driving under suspension, maliciously destroying public
property and maliciously destroying private property. His bond was set
at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 25, 2017.
