They say you catch more flies with honey
than vinegar, but Honey Lee Michael, 35, is
apparently more sour than sweet.
According to an affidavit, the Lindsay
resident was arrested following a domestic
dispute involving a knife that broke out at
a residence. Police were dispatched to the
home on May 7, and were told about an altercation between Michael and the victim.
Police spoke to Michael, and after locating the victim’s whereabouts, discovered
she had several active warrants in Garvin
County. As police took Michael into custody
for the warrants, they were advised by dispatch that the victim, reportedly stabbed by
Michael, was at the emergency room.
When police arrived at the hospital, they spoke to another witness
about the dispute between the not-so-sweet Honey and the victim. He
said a physical fight broke out after the victim told Michael to stay away
from his residence and called her a “dope whore.” Michael allegedly
stabbed the victim with a 4-inch knife on the left side of his stomach.
Police visited the victim and observed lacerations on his arm and a
deep stab wound in his stomach. The victim confirmed the story that the
witness told police.
After speaking with the victim, police went back to the residence
where the stabbing occurred and located the knife, which appeared to
have blood on it. They returned to the jail, where Michael had been taken, to speak to her about the dispute. She asked police why the victim
wasn’t in jail for assaulting her during the altercation.
An officer pointed out that there were no fresh red marks or bruising
on her, but Michael told them that there would be visible marks “tomorrow.” When asked about the stabbing, she first denied the story, but then
admitted to stabbing the victim, just not on purpose. She continued to
change her story and said she only swung the knife and didn’t hit him.
She explained that if she had hit him, she would have noticed because
there would have been blood everywhere. According to the report, Michael was rambling and hard to make sense of. She also kept inquiring
about the victim and insisted she didn’t mean to hurt him.
Michael is being held at the Lindsay Municipal Jail on $15,000 bail for
assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse. She is
scheduled to appear in court on June 14, 2013.

An Ardmore man accused in a string
of thefts around town has been arrested and charged with three counts
of felony second-degree burglary, but
more charges could be filed soon.
Arthur Masten, 35, is being held on
a $45,000 bond in the Carter County
Jail, according to court documents.
Information on the case stated Masten allegedly broke into a house on
Sandy Creek Road on May 4 by using a
screwdriver to pry open a door and get
inside. On May 9, he allegedly busted a
glass door to break into a residence on
Keyman Road, and then, the next day, pried open a door at another
home on Cisco Road.
According to reports, some items stolen from the homes have been
recovered. Golfers on May 10 reported seeing “a suspicious man”
with a bag walking across the golf course into the woods. When he
exited the woods, the bag was not with him.
Masten was found and taken into custody a short while later, high
on meth, and the goods were recovered from the woods. More stolen
property was found later at his residence on 7th Street NE.
During an interview with investigators, Masten reportedly admitted to deputies “he knew burglarizing rural homes was wrong so he
used methamphetamine to give him the courage to carry out the
heists.”
Masten is apparently no stranger to the inside of a jail cell. According to court records, he was convicted in 2002 by a Santa Clara
County, California, court of first-degree burglary, and in 2011, was
convicted in Carter County of unlawful possession of a controlled
dangerous substance with intent to distribute and illegal possession
of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Masten’s preliminary conference has been set for June 18.

The OSBI is off ering a substantial
reward in a nearly six-year-old homicide
case in southeast Oklahoma.
In the early morning hours of September
17, 2007, Jasmon Howell, 18, was shot
multiple times while he was sitting in his
car in the 1900 block of Hillcrest in Idabel.
A friend drove Howell to the hospital
where Howell later died.
The Idabel Police Department requested
OSBI open an investigation.
Since then, agents have investigated numerous leads and have
made signifi cant progress. In fact, agents need only a few more
pieces of information to conclude the case. With that in mind,
the OSBI is off ering up to a $5,000 reward for information that
leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved in the
homicide.

A Chickasha woman was arrested on May 3 for
charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
According to a police report, a Newcastle police
officer noticed a blue Mercury and silver Cadillac
pull out of the parking lot of a Newcastle motel. The
Cadillac had an OK used dealer paper tag and was
without headlights.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked the
driver, 24-year-old Melissa Daniela Lee, for her
driver’s license and proof of insurance. Lee told the officer she left everything in her motel room.
Since people usually keep the proof of insurance in their vehicle and
not their motel room, the officer asked Lee where the proof of insurance
was. Lee said the vehicle belonged to her friend, who had instructed Lee
to drive the Caddy to Oklahoma City. Lee told the officer she was following the Mercury that was being driven by friends.
Because the vehicle had a used dealer paper tag, the officer contacted
dispatch to conduct a computer check on the vehicle’s VIN number.
Dispatch advised the officer that the VIN number belonged to a stolen
Cadillac out of Oklahoma City.
The officer placed Lee in wrist restraints for possession of a stolen
vehicle. She was placed into the back seat of the officer’s patrol car and
reportedly kept asking the officer if there was any way he could reduce
the charge to “help her out.”
A police unit from the Lighthorse Police Department came to assist
the officer. The officer asked Lighthorse police to go to the motel to locate the Mercury. Lee told the officers what room her friends were staying in at the motel.
Police went to the motel and Lee’s friends, John Carter and Katie
Michelle Cox, soon joined her in police custody. Police discovered that
Carter had two valid warrants out of Oklahoma County. Both were arrested by the Lighthorse Police Department.
Police also found that Lee had a valid felony warrant out of Grady
County with a bond of $50,000. She is being held in Newcastle on a
$5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 5, 2013.

A high-speed chase that included running red lights and purposely driving head on with police officers and other motorists
ended with the driver face down in the dirt.
It was just a brief account of the reckless driving antics of
Shelby James Post, 45, of Anadarko, who apparently has never
seen a high-speed chase on “America’s Dumbest Criminals.”
On May 3, a Blanchard police officer observed a gray 4-door
car traveling at a high speed west bound on Highway 62. According to the report, the officer heard over the police radio that
Oklahoma Highway Patrol was looking for a gray Dodge Charger that had gotten away from an OHP officer.
The officer turned on his lights to conduct a traffic stop and attempted to catch up to the vehicle. The driver, identified as Post,
ran a red light and his vehicle began to pick up speed, reaching
125 mph.
The pursuit continued into Grady County. A Grady County deputy was approaching to assist the chase when the gray car reportedly swerved into his lane and attempted to hit the
police car head on. The officer swerved into a ditch to avoid the collision, then turned around
and joined the pursuit.
At one point, a Dibble police officer threw stop sticks on the highway, but Post swerved to
avoid the obstruction.
The vehicle and those in pursuit continued to travel at high speeds and at times, the vehicle
drove into oncoming lanes of traffic, causing motorists to drive into the ditch. The chase continued onto Interstate 44 and the cars exited in Chickasha. The Blanchard officer noticed a
police car sitting on the opposite side of the road. In his now normal display of reckless abandonment, Post started driving toward the police car head on. The officer in the car avoided
the collision.
The vehicle and those in pursuit approached a school zone at speeds of 100 mph. Post blew
through the school zone and ran three more red lights. According to the report, Post’s vehicle
went airborne and emitted a cloud of black smoke. After two more miles, the gray 4-door car
came to a complete stop. Post started to get out of his vehicle, and police commanded him to
get on the ground. Post complied and was placed under arrest.
Post is being held in Blanchard on $25,000 bail for two counts of assault and battery with
a dangerous weapon, reckless driving, and eluding/attempting to elude a police officer. He is
scheduled to appear in court on June 6, 2013.

The NTSB (National Transportation Safety
Board) is looking into lowering the legal limit
for drunk driving from its current BAC .08 to a
lower tolerance of BAC .05 They say this move
could save many lives each year. Tell us what

On May 8, OSBI
agents and Love County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Aaron Eugene
Carlile, 65, on a complaint of two counts of
murder in the first degree for killing Thomas
Monroe “Sonny” Culwell, 78, and Almenia
Culwell, 80.
The elderly brother and sister were repairing a fence on their rural Love County property when they were shot to death. At approximately 10:40 p.m. on May 3, a hunter
found their bodies.
Carlile, the son-in-law of Thomas Culwell,
lived on that property.
Investigators interviewed Carlile at the
Carter County Sheriff’s Office and was arrested at that location. Agents continue to
work the case.
