48-year-old Douglas Dean Blackwell just couldn’t seem to get the hint
when his ex-girlfriend told him to stay away. The Ponca City man was arrested after he showed up at her house on May 5, drunk off his butt, and
threw some bricks through her window.
According to the police report, a Ponca City officer was dispatched to the
500 block of W. Liberty Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. The victim said Blackwell had showed up at her house around 3 p.m. She said Blackwell was so
drunk he couldn’t even talk. He started banging and kicking on her door,
but she told him he couldn’t come in.
Blackwell was determined, however, so he grabbed some bricks and threw
them through the dining room windows. He then tried to climb through the
window, but she was ready. The victim said she started hitting the man with
a metal baseball bat. He still managed to get through the window, and he grabbed some China off the
woman’s table and broke it.
The victim started screaming at him to get out, and luckily, her landlord overheard and came over to
see what was going on. He said he asked Blackwell, “Can I help you?” Blackwell then grabbed a brick
and tried to hit the man in the head. He said, “Bring it on! I’ll kill you son of a bitch! Bring it on!”
Blackwell then tried to knee the man, but he was so drunk that he fell over. The man said Blackwell
then rolled over and “jumped back up like he had a spring in his ass.” He took off running down the
alley, screaming some unintelligible stuff.
Blackwell’s mom then pulled up in her vehicle and picked up her intoxicated son.
Police located the vehicle and placed Blackwell under arrest. The man was “extremely intoxicated,”
and he had blood on his hands and arm. He told the officer he had drank a pint of vodka, and he “may
have” damaged some stuff at his ex-girlfriend’s house. He said at some point, the landlord grabbed
him, so he “stopped being mean.” Blackwell ended his statement with, “Then I left with my mom.”
Blackwell is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious injury to property
under $1,000. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 15, 2015.

An Ochelata man fed up with the utility company
allegedly pointed a pellet gun at a couple of employees because he wanted them to get off his property.
According to the police report, a Washington County deputy was dispatched to W. 3010 Drive on May 1
shortly after 4 p.m. because 33-year-old Marcus Ray
Larsen was pointing his gun at some utility workers.
Larsen told told the deputy he wanted the utility
people to stay off his property because they broke the
sewer line on his land in 2012. He admitted to going
in his house and grabbing his air rifle. But, he said
he kept it down at his side while speaking to utility
employees.
The deputy asked him why he even brought a gun
into the situation. Larsen said he was going to protect his property, and he was
trying to “intimidate the two workers.”
The employees told police they arrived at the location to work on a lift station
that was malfunctioning and causing the sewer to back up. He said Larsen approached them, beer in hand, and asked what they were doing. When they told
him they were there to work on the lift station, Larsen started cussing at them and
told them to get off his property. He then told them he was going to get his gun.
Larsen then returned to the employees’ truck with a beer in one hand and a gun
in the other. He then told the men he would kill them if they went on his property.
The men wisely left and called the police.
Larsen is being charged with threaten to perform act of violence. His bond was
set at $15,000, and he was scheduled to appear in court on May 13, 2015.

driving, hit the troopers, killing Dees and seriously injuring
Burch.
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, texting while driving makes drivers 23 times more likely to be involved in a traffic
accident.
Governor Fallin was joined by members of the troopers’ families as she signed
the bill into law.
She says she hopes the law will save lives.
“My hope is that this bill does more than just change the law,” Fallin said. “As a
state, we need to change the way we think about texting while driving. The fact is
it’s dangerous. If we can get people to think about it that way, we can drive more
responsibly, save a lot of lives and make our roads much safer.”
The law makes texting while driving a primary offense, meaning police can pull
anyone who does it over and give them a $100 ticket.
Senator Ervin Yen says that making texting and driving a primary offense will
have a big impact.
“States with primary-enforcement laws saw an overall reduction of three percent in traffic fatalities,” he says. “For young drivers between 15 and 21, there was
an 11 percent reduction in fatalities. That’s huge.”
He says research shows states that only had secondary enforcement saw virtually no change.
“Primary enforcement saves lives,” says Yen.
Oklahoma is the 46th state to have a law banning texting while driving.
It has exceptions for certain emergency situations and specifies it will not apply
to devices operated in a voice-activated mode in which a driver’s hands would not
be needed to write, send or read a text message.
The law goes into effect Nov. 1.

Jennings man Chance Daron Cavin, 25, went on a stealing spree
in Osage County and stole a bunch of stuff, including a TV and an
SUV.
According to the affidavit, an Osage County deputy was dispatched to a residence on Kihekah in Osage on April 25 shortly after 9 p.m. to take a burglary report. The victim told him that when
she arrived home earlier that day, her front door was open. She
didn’t think anything of it and figured that someone in her family
left it open, until she walked in the house and noticed that her TV
and Ipad were missing.
On May 2 shortly after 8 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the
Boston Pool area to investigate a stolen vehicle. The owner of the
vehicle was following the suspect.
An officer located the SUV on Boston Pool loop, and guess who was behind the wheel?
Yep -- Cavin. He was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
On May 5, a deputy talked to Cavin about some recent robberies in the area, including the
one that had occurred at his cousin’s house on April 25. Cavin admitted to stealing the SUV
he was driving when he was arrested. He also admitted that he had recently broken into a
couple of homes. He said he took a TV and Ipad from his cousin’s house and a TV from his
grandmother’s home. The man said he pawned the items at pawn store in Tulsa and used the
money from the stolen items to buy oxycontin.
Cavin is being charged with larceny from the house. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on June 12, 2015.

A Fairfax man was arrested after he crashed into a tree on May 1
and allegedly left his severely injured passenger all by herself.
A state trooper was dispatched to a one-car collision on state Highway 18 and County Road 4400 in Pawnee County at approximately
5:35 a.m. He was advised that a female passenger was being transported to the ER -- the driver was nowhere to be found.
According to the affidavit, the vehicle was down in an embankment and “resting” against a large tree. While searching the vehicle,
the trooper found some mail addressed to 30-year-old Michael Jack
Hutchison.
Around 7 a.m., the trooper spoke to the passenger, who told him
she was with Hutchison at the time of the collision. The trooper located the man, and he asked him if he knew where his truck was. Hutchison said he fell
asleep at his wheel earlier that morning, and he was going to get his truck later.
He also said the victim was with him when he crashed.
The trooper asked Hutchison if he knew where the victim was. Hutchison said she was at
home. The trooper then informed him that she had been airlifted to Tulsa due to her injuries.
He then asked the man why he left the scene and didn’t report the accident. Hutchison
simply said he didn’t think it was that bad.
Hutchison is being charged with leaving scene of accident involving injury and failure to
devote full time and attention to driving. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on June 9, 2015.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
