A repeat DUI offender became angry when he was arrested for yet another DUI on September 16.
I guess some people just never learn.
According to the affidavit, a Wister officer was dispatched to the area
of South Magnolia and Logan Street
around 3:20 p.m. for a possible drunk
driver in a white van. The officer located the suspect vehicle, and he followed it to observe the driver’s behavior.
At one point, the van traveled
through a 15 mph school zone at a
speed of 23 mph. The driver also entered a driveway in the 500 block of Del Norte Street without using a
turn signal. The officer activated his emergency lights and conducted
a traffic stop.
The driver, later identified as Poteau man Steaven Andrew English, 53, quickly exited his vehicle. As the officer approached him, he
saw English stumble a few times before regaining balance.
The officer told English why he pulled him over, and he asked him
if he had been drinking. English paused for a moment, and then admitted that he had consumed approximately half a pint of vodka.
The officer could smell the proof on English’s breath.
English had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and couldn’t
stand up without stumbling, so the officer placed him under arrest
for DUI. English became angry and told the officer that he had just
gotten out of prison for being charged with two DUIs in the same
week.
Here’s a hint English: call a cab.
English is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under
the influence of alcohol, driving with license suspended, and speeding in excess of lawful maximum limit. His bond was set at $50,000,
and he was scheduled to appear in court on September 26, 2014.

Six years ago, the remains of an unidentifi ed woman were
found in a shallow grave near Lake Thunderbird outside
Norman. The medical examiner’s offi ce believes the remains
are those of a white female, possibly with Native American
heritage, who was approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and
between 30 and 45 years old. She also had given birth to at
least one child.
Due to the rate of decomposition, investigators believe she
had been in the grave between 3 and 12 months.
A distinct tattoo of a sunburst was on a large portion of her
back. Attempts to identify the woman through DNA have produced no results.
OSBI Forensic Artist Harvey Pratt reconstructed her skull to provide a likeness of the woman.
If anyone believes they may know who this woman might be, please call the OSBI hotline at
1-800-522-8017.

A Maysville man thought he could get
away with using his former roommate’s
name after getting busted for DWI, but his
mug in OK Jailbirds gave his ploy away.
According to probable cause affidavit,
Dylan Ashley, 22, was arrested by an OHP
trooper on August 9 for driving impaired.
Ashley did not have a photo ID on him.
But instead of giving the trooper his real
name, he gave his name as Blake Bergen
and Bergen’s birthdate.
How did Ashley know Bergen’s
information? Ashley was at one time
Bergen’s roommate in Norman.
Ashley was processed into the Garvin County Jail as Bergen.
Lo and behold, a couple of weeks later, September’s edition of OK
Jailbirds is produced and was in stores. Bergen’s mother informed him that
his name was in OK Jailbirds, but with his soon-to-be ex-buddy’s photo.
He got a copy, and sure enough, Ashley’s goofy mug shot was in the Garvin
County data, but the name under the mug said Blake Bergen, DWI.
The real Bergen went to the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office immediately to
clear his name. Bergen proved his identity and DPS was notified.
On Sept. 16, Ashley was booked into the Garvin County Jail, again, on
an outstanding Okmulgee County warrant, this time using his own name.
When questioned about the Bergen incident, Ashley admitted he gave the
trooper Bergen’s name and birthdate instead of his own. He said he knew
Bergen well, and that he lived with him and his parents in the past. He
added he had intended to pay for the costs, but didn’t realize the identifiers
and latent prints were used by law enforcement to identify offenders.
Ashley was charged with felony false personation the next day. The
charges of DWI that were under Bergen’s name have been corrected in court
records and are now under Ashley’s name. Ashley is scheduled to appear in
court on October 24 at 10 am for his preliminary hearing.
Will the real Dylan Ashley please come forward?

It took six men to get Soper man Johnny Trent, 34, into a
jail cell after he was arrested for drunk driving on September
19.
Whiskey doesn’t make him frisky — it apparently makes
him angry.
According to the affidavit, a Boswell officer saw a van, driven
by Trent, pull up onto the curb and make an illegal turnabout
on S. Sixth Street around 12:00 a.m. The officer pulled over
the vehicle, which he realized had a defective taillight, in the
600 block of Hunter Avenue. Before the officer could put his
patrol car into park, Trent jumped out of his van and began
looking around.
The officer asked him what he was doing; Trent said nothing. The officer noticed the odor of alcohol, and he asked Trent
to return to his vehicle. When Trent opened the van door, the smell of alcohol was overwhelming. He told the officer he didn’t have his driver’s license with him.
He asked Trent if he had been drinking. Trent said yes.
The officer told him he was charging him with driving under the influence and to exit
the vehicle. Trent became argumentative, but he eventually exited his van.
While the officer searched his pockets, Trent kept pulling away. He attempted to hit the
officer when the officer attempted to place him in handcuffs.
Trent continued to be combative, but the officer and a Choctaw County deputy were
eventually able to get him in the patrol car.
When they arrived at the jail, five others were waiting to assist with the angry drunk
man. Trent continued to be combative and kept yelling at the officers. At one point, an
officer and Trent broke through the metal detector during the scuffle.
The officers took Trent to his cell, but it was a fight all the way back.
Trent was finally locked up, and the officers “safely left the cell one at a time.”
Trent is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police officer, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, resisting an officer, improper turn about,
operating vehicle with defective equipment or unsafe conditions and driver’s license to
be carried. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
October 28, 2014.

Buying your girlfriend roses is sweet — stealing them is
not. A Kinta man did just that on September 10, and the
misguided Casanova was locked up for his thieving ways.
According to the affidavit, a man called the Stigler police department and reported that a man had just stolen
some flowers from his store. An officer went to the business to investigate.
An employee told him that a man, Randall Eugene
Maggard, 49, came in the store and said he wanted two
dozen roses for his daughter who was about to get married. Maggard handed the man a credit card, but the card
didn’t have a name on it. He asked to see Maggard’s driver’s license. Maggard said OK, and told the employee he
wanted to take the roses to the car and show his daughter
while he retrieved his license. Maggard left the shop with
the flowers — and didn’t come back.
The employee walked outside and didn’t see Maggard. He spoke to a woman at a local
restaurant who told him a man walked into the restaurant and put some roses on a table.
The officer went to the restaurant and saw the roses. He asked a lady sitting by the roses if
she saw the man who put the roses on the table. She said yes, it was her boyfriend, Maggard.
She said he walked into the restaurant, put the roses on the table and left. She gave the officer a description of his car.
Later, around 2 p.m., the girlfriend called the officer and told him Maggard was behind her
and was hitting her car with his car.
First roses, then road rage? Cool it, Maggard.
Later that day, Maggard allegedly threatened to kill the woman and himself, and ransacked her house.
Maggard is being charged with obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check/false pretenses. His bond was set at $1,000, and he was scheduled to appear in court on September
23, 2014. He was also charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, threaten to perform an act of violence, burglary, second degree, malicious injury to property, and assault and battery on a pregnant woman. Bond on those charges was $100,000.
If I had two dozen roses…

DUS FTA - RESISTING AN OFFICER
A wanted Durant man was arrested in Coalgate on September 19 for a warrant. Once he was in jail, however, he
added another charge to his record by trying to destroy
an “ibuprofen” during booking.
Spoiler; it probably wasn’t ibuprofen.
According to the affidavit, a Coalgate officer saw the
man, 24-year-old William Jarel Parker, walking south on
Main Street around 5:30 p.m. The officer contacted the
sheriff’s office and asked them to run Parker for warrants.
Dispatch advised Parker had a $50,000 warrant through
Coal County.
The officer approached Parker and placed him under
arrest. As he escorted Parker into jail, he told the man if
he had anything illegal on him when they entered the jail,
it would be a separate charge.
Parker said he didn’t have anything.
The officer told Parker to empty his pockets; he noticed
the man cup a small object in his left hand. The officer escorted Parker into the changing
room. As he did, Parker threw the object, a pink pill, into his mouth. The officer told Parker
to open his mouth; Parker did, but he only showed the officer the top of his mouth.
Even though the officer told Parker he knew he had something in his mouth and he was
going to be charged anyway, Parker refused to open. Instead, he shut his jaws and crunched
down on the pill.
The officer made Parker open his mouth, and he saw that the man’s mouth was coated with
a pink powder. Parker told him it was an ibuprofen.
Parker refused to tell the officer what the pill was, but he assured him that he wasn’t going
to overdose.
Oh, good.
Parker is being charged with obstructing an officer. He was released on a $1,000 bond, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on December 12, 2014.
Probably wasn’t
an ibuprofen…

Panola man Brian Keith Kersh, 47, didn’t obey the rules and
was arrested September 22 because he was a felon playing with
guns.
Around 11:30 a.m., a Latimer County deputy was dispatched
to the 4400 block of NE 148th Avenue due to Kersh allegedly
shooting a gun toward one of his neighbors. When the officer
arrived, the victim told him Kersh had been on his property
and shot a gun at him.
The victim said he was working on a fence, and when he
looked in Kersh’s direction, the man fired the rifle several more
times. He said the gunshots were from an AR or SKS style rifle.
The officer met with Kersh while the man was walking from
his neighbor’s house.
He said he wasn’t on the victim’s property, but he was shooting a rifle at a tree and a bowl
of liver earlier. He said he was shooting a .223 caliber rifle that belonged to his friend Chris,
and he didn’t have it anymore.
The officer was unable to locate anyone who knew “Chris,” and Kersh was unable to prove
that his friend had been there.
Kersh took the officer to the area where he claimed to have been shooting. There were no
marks on the tree. Kersh said he couldn’t hit the tree because he was firing the rife from his
hip. Kersh said he knew he’s a felon and can no longer possess a firearm. He told the officer
that he and his wife recently separated, and he was staying at a residence down the road. A
modified pellet rifle was found at the house. Kersh said he uses the pellet rifle to hunt squirrels, because it’s capable of shooting approximately 1200 fps and can kill a squirrel from
around 45 yards away.
Kersh is obviously a serious squirrel hunter.
The officer placed Kersh under arrest and took him to jail. During booking, an officer found
unfired shotgun shells in Kersh’s pockets. Some of Kersh’s neighbors told the officer he has
an SKS and AR15.
Kersh is being charged with possession of a firearm after former felony conviction and
reckless conduct with a firearm. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 7, 2014.

Flick and Buck were acquaintances.
Buck went to Flick's home September

Body of missing Arkansas real estate agent found in shallow grave
The body of a missing Arkansas real estate
agent was found on Sept. 30 in a shallow grave at
an industrial site several miles from the house she
was trying to sell at the time of her disappearance
last week, police said.
Arron Lewis, a 33-year-old Arkansas prison
parolee arrested on Sept. 29 on suspicion of
abducting 49-year-old Beverly Carter, was
charged with capital murder, according to police.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
“She was a target of opportunity for him. At this time, we believe he acted alone,” Captain
Simon Haynes, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s chief of detectives, said at a news conference.
He said detectives believed Lewis arranged for the appointment with the victim.
Prosecutors have not yet determined if they will seek the death penalty. No cause of death
has been released.
“Events like this stain the soul of our community. They leave scars,” Larry Jegley, the
prosecuting attorney, said at the news conference.
Lewis remains in custody. When asked by reporters ahead of the hearing if he killed
Carter, Lewis replied “No.”
Before going missing on Thursday afternoon, Carter told associates she was meeting
a possible buyer at a property in Scott, a sparsely populated community about 16 miles
east of Little Rock. Over the weekend, more than 200 volunteers, many real estate agents,
helped police comb the area near the house, where her car was found.
Lewis, whose first name is spelled “Aaron” and “Arron” on different government records,
was taken into custody after an intensive manhunt.
He was arrested on Monday on suspicion of being responsible for Carter’s disappearance.
He admitted to kidnapping the agent, but refused to disclose her whereabouts, the sheriff’s
department said.
Detectives later obtained information that led them to an industrial site about 20 miles
from the house she was set to show, it said. Lewis had worked at a cement factory in the
area.
Arkansas officials have said Lewis was on parole for theft convictions in Arkansas.

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Well, the temperatures are
dropping, and fall is almost here,
and these things signal the start
of football season in Oklahoma! Not only have our major colleges
had their first home games, but all across the state, people are
traveling to and from football games from 4th graders on up to
high school. With that in mind, I wanted to re-visit a few tips to
make this football season safe.
Lets start with college. Whether you are a Sooner, Cowboy,
or Golden Hurricane fan, one thing is for sure...you aren’t
alone! There are thousands of fans for each home game
traveling to the stadiums. This volume of traffic demands your
consideration. First, if you can, leave early! The closer to game
time, the worse the traffic gets, so if you can, get to the stadium
early. There are plenty of things on a game day that are going on
prior to kickoff that you can spend your time enjoying. There are
usually lots of free stuff for the kids to do that make the whole game
day experience wonderful for them as well.
Second, be patient! You WILL run into traffic, so plan ahead,
and don’t get frustrated with it. Turn on the radio, listen to the pregame hype, and remember to be a safe, courteous driver. Getting
frustrated, and getting into a hurry, can result in a traffic accident
that will delay your arrival, and could end up being very expensive,
not to mention the potential for injury.
Last, be aware that there are usually some temporary traffic
control changes on game days. Both before and after the games,
law enforcement will be at intersections controlling the traffic
lights, and making adjustments to keep the traffic flowing in the
best possible manner. Be alert and aware, and recognize when and
where these temporary traffic controls are taking place.
Now, on to the local games! The biggest thing I remember from
growing up is that parents are usually running late to get to games,
because of what time they got off work. This has not changed...we
Troopers are stopping folks who are speeding trying to get to a kid’s
ball game all the time. While we understand, (we have kids too!)
we also see all too often what happens when accidents happen as
a result of unsafe speed. If you get stopped by us, you’re going to
be even later, and possibly on the hook for a hefty fine. If you get
involved in an accident, you may not make the game at all.
Finally, when you do get there, be a good fan! Cheer your team,
don’t denigrate the other team. Use appropriate language in the
stands; remember, there are kids of all ages in the stands with
you. We Oklahomans love our football, just remember to show
your support in a positive way! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and
be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

Snow woman Tommie Sue Rymel, 34, and Antlers man Ernest
Whisenhunt, 24, were arrested for drugs and paraphernalia after
police caught them speeding and driving recklessly through the
streets of Antlers.
According to the affidavit, a Pushmataha County deputy pulled
over a vehicle around 3:25 a.m. September 20 at the intersection of
NE E. Street and Main.
Why did he pull the vehicle over? Because it was traveling 87 mph
in a 25 mph zone.
The deputy made contact with the driver, Rymel, and passenger,
Whisenhunt. When he asked Rymel for her driver’s license, he noticed Whisenhunt had his hand between the seat and the door, as
though he was trying to hide something.
The deputy asked him what he was hiding; Whisenhunt said nothing. The deputy asked
Whisenhunt to show him his hand. When Whisenhunt lifted up his hand, the deputy heard
something drop. He walked around to the passenger side, and he could smell the odor of
marijuana.
He asked Whisenhunt what he dropped. The man admitted that it was his pipes. When
the deputy reached in to get them, Whisenhunt told him he uses one pipe to smoke tobacco
and one to smoke marijuana.
The deputy asked Whisenhunt to step out of the vehicle. He patted the man down and
found a green leafy substance. Whisenhunt said he smoked marijuana, and the substance
was his.
One of the pipes field-tested positive for marijuana, and the deputy placed him under arrest.
He told Rymel that he arrested Whisenhunt for possession of marijuana, and he asked her
if there was anything else illegal in the vehicle. She told him there was in her purse.
In the purse, the deputy found needles, two spoons with residue, plastic baggies, a plastic
baggy containing a white crystal substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine
and a set of digital scales.
He placed her under arrested and took the couple to jail.
Rymel is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on October 8, 2014.
Whisenhunt is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. No bond was set, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on October 29, 2014.

A Durant man was arrested September 19 after police caught him
visiting a residence suspected of drug activity.
According to the police report, a Durant officer was attempting
to conduct a “knock and talk” at a residence in the 800 block of E.
Main. A concerned citizen had contacted police and told them that
he had seen drug activity occur at the residence. While the officer
was standing in front of the house, an SUV pulled into the front yard.
The officer approached the vehicle and asked the driver if he
would participate in a consensual encounter. The driver agreed, and
he handed the officer an ID card that identified him as 26-year-old
Melvin Lee Dubose.
Dubose appeared to be very nervous and his hands kept shaking.
The officer asked him whom he was visiting at the residence. Dubose told him he was there
to pick up a girl, but he didn’t know her name. His hands continued to shake, and the officer
noticed he was breathing heavily and sweating profusely.
He handed Dubose his ID and told him he was good to go.
He told Dubose why he was at the residence. Dubose acted surprised, but while they were
speaking about drug activity, his voice started cracking and he started speaking very softly.
He also started swallowing hard and rubbing his face.
Due to Dubose’s nervous behavior and his being near a residence reported to be involved in
drug activity, the officer believed that Dubose could possible be involved in criminal activity.
He asked Dubose if he could search his person and vehicle. Dubose said he would consent to
a search of his person, but not the vehicle.
Another officer arrived with his narcotics detection canine to check out the vehicle. The dog
alerted to narcotics being inside the vehicle.
In the SUV, the officer found a bag containing digital scales, rolling papers, small baggies,
two baggies containing a clear crystal like substance, a green leafy substance and yellow ovalshaped pills. The pills were later identified as hydrocodone, and the green substance fieldtested positive for marijuana.
Dubose is being charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to
distribute, possession of marihuana, possession of hydrocodone and unlawful possession of
drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
October 29, 2014.

RESISTING ARREST DOMESTIC ABUSE WARRANT GRAND LARCENY DUI POSS PARA TRESPASSING
Abuse can happen in
many forms. Physical,
emotional and sexual are
common expressions of
abuse and many people
just don’t know how to
handle it. If you are an
abuser, stop it. If you are
the victim of abuse, let the
words of the Bible guide
you as you decide how to
handle the relationship
with the abuser. If you’re
in danger, you need to get
away immediately. If your
abuse is not life threatening
or is something in your
past that you still struggle
with, take some time to meditate on God’s Word on this subject.
The LORD rescues the godly;
he is their fortress in times of trouble. The LORD helps them,
rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him. (Psalm 37:39, 40 NLT)

Give a man a cigarette and he’ll rob you blind. At least if
that man is Atoka man Steven Don Murray, 38. He allegedly
took some money out of his friend’s vehicle after the friend so
kindly offered him a smoke.
Let’s hope they’re not friends anymore.
According to the police report, a Tushka police officer responded to a call about a disturbance around noon in the 100
block of Pool Drive on September 11. The victim said Murray
showed up at his house and wanted to borrow money for cigarettes. He told Murray there were some cigarettes in the car,
and he handed over his keys so Murray could go look.
Murray went back in the house and told the man he could
only find one pack. He said he was going to the store to get
some more, and he would be right back.
A woman with the victim went to get her wallet from the vehicle, and she noticed there was
approximately $1,000 missing.
While police were talking to witnesses, Murray returned to the house. An officer took him
to the police department.
As soon as they arrived, Murray handed the officer a wad of money. He said the money was
his, but “if it would buy him out of this mess, give it to them.”
The officer asked him where the money came from. Murray said it was his and he had had
it for awhile, but he was in jail and couldn’t get to it.
At first, he told the officer the money had been with his friend, but then he said it had been
buried in a coffee can on Boggy Depot Road.
The officer asked him to show him where the can and hole were.
Murray said he hid it under a log.
The officer said he wanted to see the log.
Murray changed his story again and said he had the money in a coat pocket at his house.
The officer told him most people don’t carry around that amount of bills wadded up. Murray said it was too much to put into his wallet.
Officers counted the money, and it matched what was missing from the victim’s vehicle.
Murray is being charged with grand larceny. He is being held on $25,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on October 1, 2014.

It’s a pretty well known fact that
marijuana hasn’t been legalized in the
state of Oklahoma. But Eufaula man
Stanley Wallace Winkle, 64, didn’t
seem too pleased when a deputy placed
him under arrest September 19 “just
over a little marijuana.”
And some meth.
The deputy stopped Winkle’s vehicle
around 12:30 a.m. at County Road East
1090, because the truck’s driver’s side
headlight wasn’t working, the affidavit
states. The deputy checked Winkle’s
information and told him to get his
headlight fixed and that he was free to go. That was, until, the deputy
smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside the truck.
He asked Winkle if he had anything illegal in his truck; Winkle told
him no, and said, “You can check if you want.”
The deputy asked Winkle to step out of the vehicle.
As he did, the deputy saw a green leafy substance fall from his leg
and onto the highway. The deputy told Winkle to turn around and
put his hands behind his back. Winkle said, “Just over a little marijuana?”
He then asked Winkle if he had anything else illegal on him. Winkle said no.
The deputy started searching Winkle’s pockets, and he found a
crystal like substance in his shirt pocket. He asked Winkle what the
substance was. Winkle admitted it was meth.
The deputy collected the evidence and transported Winkle to jail.
Winkle is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on November 20, 2014.

DISTURBING THE PEACE
A Broken Bow woman got to experience life
behind bars after she allegedly attacked a woman
outside of a local grocery store.
You can’t just go around hitting people, Teanna
McGee!
A Broken Bow police officer was dispatched
to Pruett’s parking lot due to a fight in progress
around 5 p.m., the affidavit states. When he arrived, he saw McGee in the parking lot. The
25-year-old was yelling at some of the employees,
saying that she had been jumped and the employees helped.
The officer asked her to calm down, but McGee only got louder. He tried to find out what
happened, but McGee told him, “you f------ don’t do anything.” She proceeded to call someone on her cellphone and refused to hang up. A woman with McGee told the officer that a
woman jumped McGee when she walked out of the store.
He was advised that the other parties involved were waiting at the police department to
file a report.
McGee still refused to get off the phone. A witness told the officer that she heard a lot of
yelling. An employee said McGee approached her alleged attacker and hit her in the face.
Employees had to break up the fight.
A woman pulled up and claimed to be a relative of the woman McGee said jumped up.
While she was speaking to the officer, McGee said things to her such as “your time is coming
bitch” and “your baby is retarded.”
The officer told McGee to calm down, but she refused, so he placed her under arrest and
took her to jail.
The woman that supposedly attacked McGee said she went to the store with her grandchildren, but when she saw McGee, she went outside to her car to avoid an incident. She said
McGee walked toward her and said “excuse me.” The woman said she didn’t respond, and
McGee hit her in the face. She said she fought back, but she had a lot of health problems and
was “in no condition to look for a fight with anyone.”
The woman’s granddaughter told the officer the same story. She said she was worried for
her grandmother because of her health.
McGee is being charged with assault and battery, threatening to perform act of violence
and disturbing the peace. She was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on October 9, 2014.
