A Poteau man was taken into custody after he
allegedly shot his uncle with an arrow while the
man stood on his front porch.
Joshua Dean Wade, 33, faces charges of first
degree murder in LeFlore County District Court.
According to reports, Joshua Wade allegedly
rung the doorbell of his uncle’s apartment and
then hid around a corner. The uncle, identified
as Buddy Wade, 54, did not answer the door, so
Joshua rang the bell and hid again. Buddy answered the door that time and stepped outside.
Joshua then shot Buddy in the chest with a compound bow and arrow at a distance of about eight
feet away.
Officers responded to the scene and saw Joshua with his hands in the
air. A compound bow and arrows were found on his tailgate, reports state.
Court documents show Buddy Wade filed for a protective order against
Joshua Wade on June 15, 2018, but it was dismissed on July 3, 2018, because “The Court [found] that the petition was filed frivolously…”

Piling on the charges
A Wilburton man, who was already facing
several felony charges, just racked up some
more after he allegedly assaulted officers on
October 26.
29-year-old Eric Lee Dashawn Gardner has
a history of violence toward law enforcement.
From this year alone, he’s facing the following felony charges: assault and battery on a
police officer (October 26), assault and battery on a deputy jailer (October 26), assault
and battery on detention officer (September
14), two counts of injury or burning public
building (September 10), and second-degree
burglary (August 16).
The October 26 charges were filed after
incidents that occurred on October 22. Reports state that at approximately 8:35 p.m.,
Gardner started yelling and cussing before tossing his food tray at a jailer.
In a separate incident that same day, a Wilburton officer was asked to assist jail employees with helping Gardner use the restroom. When employees
unstrapped the man from a chair, he walked right to the officer and attempted
to punch him in the face. The officer blocked the punch, but Gardner ran to
the restroom and locked the door. The officer forced his way into the restroom
and threatened Gardner with a taser until they were able to get the man back
into the restraining chair.
Gardner also allegedly ripped a camera from the ceiling of his cell and
smashed it on the floor on September 5. On September 7, he destroyed another camera in the jail. He’s also being accused of throwing some juice and
a roll of toilet paper that he dipped in the toilet at a jailer.
For the charges filed against him on September 10, Gardner will appear in
court on February 4, 2019. He is scheduled to appear in court on December
4, 2018, for the charges filed against him on October 26.

standoff leads to 3 arrests
A standoff ensued after a wanted man was
found hiding out in Pittsburg County on the
evening of October 22, according to reports.
The wanted man, identified as 34-year-old Darryl Emanuel Bickham Jr., and two other McAlester residents ended up in jail.
Reports state McAlester officers were dispatched to a residence near South A Street
and West Miami Avenue to arrest Bickham,
who had a warrant issued for his arrest for
burglary in the first degree, feloniously pointing
firearm, possession of firearms after conviction
or during probation, assault and battery with
a dangerous weapon and threaten to perform
act of violence.
The man had allegedly held some women
at gunpoint and threatened to kill them if they
spoke to police. The warrant for that incident
had been issued earlier that day.
When officers arrived at the location, Bickham refused to exit the home, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was called to assist.
Fortunately, Bickham eventually walked out
of the house without incident.
Crystal Gail Kinley, 35, and 30-year-old Calvin James Woodmore were also placed under
arrest for their role in the standoff.
A pistol that had been reported stolen earlier
that year was found in the washing machine.
Bickham is being charged with possession of
firearm after former conviction of a felony and
knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond
was set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on November 30, 2018.
Kinley and Woodmore are being charged with
harboring a fugitive from justice. Their bonds
were set at $40,000, and they are scheduled to
appear in court on December 7, 2018.

Special ed teacher and Porum man
arrested for drugs
A Pittsburg County special education teacher and a
Porum man were arrested after police found drugs and
paraphernalia while serving an arrest warrant on October 29.
According to reports, an investigator with the District
Attorney’s office and McIntosh County deputies went to
a residence to arrest 35-year-old Anthony Michael Grant
on a warrant. When they arrived, Grant and Quinton
woman Nichole Kay Hamm, 35, who is employed by
Canadian Public Schools, refused to answer the door.
They eventually surrendered after about five minutes.
Hamm told police there was marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the home.
Officers searched the residence and found nine bags
containing a white crystal substance that tested positive for meth. The bags were reportedly packed with
amounts of the drug that were consistent with distribution. They also located some syringes, a smoking pipe,
digital scales, and baggies.
Outside, investigators saw a jet ski that had been reported stolen. Hamm said that she had been pulling the
jet ski with her truck earlier that day.
Grant told police he owned the residence and paid all
the bills. He also said he had some video surveillance
that he used to monitor law enforcement, and that he
could hear conversations through the equipment.
Grant is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs,
knowingly concealing stolen property, unlawful use of a
surveillance camera and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set
at $50,000.
Quinton is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, knowingly concealing stolen property and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at
$20,000. They are both scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2019.

Accused cattle thieves plead
not guilty
Hulbert man Drew Rexy Jordon, 43, and
his 18-year-old accomplice, Sanders Chace
Krebs, of Stonewall, pled not guilty to larceny
charges after they were accused of stealing
some cattle.
Reports state the men allegedly stole eight
head of cattle from a man sometime between
August 29 and September 1.
Krebs allegedly told police that he cut the
lock so that he and Jordon could steal the
cattle. The stolen livestock was then transported to Arkansas. The cows were put into
an auction and were auctioned off for more
than $5,000.
Jordon is facing additional charges, because he allegedly lied about where the cows
were when questioned by an agent with the
Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
Krebs is being charged with larceny of domestic/implements of husbandry.
Jordon is being charged with larceny of domestic/implements of husbandry, knowingly
concealing stolen property and obstructing
officer.
Their bonds were set at $1,500, and they
are scheduled to appear in court on December 19, 2018.

Police out helping keep the streets clean arrested a man suspected of
stealing a street sweeper.
According to Sacramento Police, officers out on patrol near Truxel
Road and Brewerton Drive saw a street sweeper truck peel out of a
parking lot and onto the street.
The truck promptly ran a red light – and didn’t have its headlights on –
prompting the officers to try and pull the street sweeper over. However,
police note, the driver pushed on and didn’t stop until he had hit three
parked cars. The driver then bolted from the truck.
A police perimeter was set up in the area, but the suspected driver –
18-year-old Lavonn Dill – eventually surrendered himself to a K-9 officer.
Dill now faces charges of fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and
hit-and-run charges.
A Florida man who was doing a mean-spirited Santa Claus impression
might be spending Christmas behind bars after getting caught in the
chimney of a Naples, Fla., home during an attempted burglary.
Richard Tyler Brandon, 25, got trapped in a chimney after running out
of cash during a night out. His friend, Derek Grenfell, alerted two Naples
police officers about the situation after it became apparent Brandon was
stuck.
A team of police officers and local fire department officials broke into
the home and saw Brandon’s foot hanging in the fireplace.
“I said, ‘Dude, you’re not Santa Claus, what are you doing?’” Grenfell
reportedly said to the police.
It took two hours, but Brandon was freed from the chimney and taken to the hospital for treatment of issues including leg pain and trouble
breathing. It could have been worse.
“There is a chance he could have died,” said Naples Detective Robert
Young. “That space he was jammed into was really tight. He couldn’t
move.”
Brandon was hit with two burglary charges and Grenfell was charged
as an accessory to the crime after the fact.
A Vero Beach, Fla., man who was angry with his wife left a phony bomb
on a kitchen counter, an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Randolph Smith, 51, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault
with a deadly weapon, planting a hoax bomb and resisting arrest without
violence.
Deputies received a call from a woman who said her husband left a
gray pipe with a wire protruding from one end on the kitchen counter.
There were several hand-written notes on the counter, including one that
read, “This is (an) explosive. (It’s) a bomb.”
Smith’s wife told deputies she is in the process of getting a divorce.
The bomb squad was called and determined that the device didn’t
contain any explosives.
Deputies tracked Smith down at a Burger King and arrested him.
During questioning, Smith tried to leave the interview room and had to
be handcuffed, according to the arrest report.
Smith told detectives that he left the hoax bomb on the counter because his wife “pissed him off.”

DECEMBER IS NATIONAL DRUNK AND
DRUGGED DRIVING PREVENTION MONTH
Deaths in crashes involving
drunk drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08+
dropped in 2010, but despite
this decrease, there were still
10,228 lives lost – that’s one
person every 51 minutes. That
makes it everyone’s problem.
It seems that many people
were doing their part to put a stop to this completely preventable epidemic.
Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s. Research
also indicates that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends
Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened to stop
someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90’s, alcohol-related driving deaths have been
steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many
thought the messages to be targeted at overtly drunk drivers, and not them.
When decision time came, they would consider themselves merely “buzzed”
and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December
2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the dangers of
“buzzed” driving and subsequently, to motivate people to stop driving buzzed.
The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed driving and
drunk driving and demonstrating the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of buzzed driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate
people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed
Driving is Drunk Driving.

It’s often said that birds of a feather flock
together – just asked Jared Peyton and Samantha Cunningham. The two were both arrested for warrants after officers saw Peyton
driving a stolen vehicle in Haskell County.
Reports state a deputy was advised that
Peyton was driving a stolen car somewhere
in the area on November 11. Later that day,
deputies found him at a convenience store in
Enterprise with Cunningham. A deputy told
the man he was under arrest.
Peyton resisted, but he was eventually
placed in handcuffs.
Cunningham was detained. Officers found
meth and drug paraphernalia on her person.
They were also advised that she, too, had
warrants for her arrest.
The car they were traveling in had been reported stolen out of Muskogee.
In addition to his warrants, Peyton was
arrested for resisting arrest, possession of
methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen vehicle.
Cunningham was put behind bars for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
