DON’T DO DRUGS;
DRUGS ARE BAD
Two men are facing first-degree manslaughter charges in the death of a McCurtain County
man.
Cody Hilderbrand, 21, and Justin Ruther,
37, both of of Valliant, are accused of killing
18-year-old Christyan Boswell after a drug
deal went bad.
According to OSBI, on September 23, OSBI
special agents were called to work a homicide in Valliant at the intersection of Wilbur
and Mosley Street. There Boswell was shot to
death. Valliant officers detained Hilderbrand at
the scene.
After investigating the crime, agents learned
Hilderbrand killed Boswell after a drug deal
went bad. Ruther was with Hilderbrand when
the shooting occurred.
After an interview, agents arrested Hilderbrand for the killing and was booked into the
McCurtain County jail. He is being held on a
$1M bond.
Ruther was booked into custody on September 26, but released the same day on a
personal recognizance bond. If he fails to appear at his October 23 hearing, a $1M bond
will be issued.
All three men are from the Valliant area.

CLAYTON MAN SENTENCED TO 18
MONTHS FOR FIREARM POSSESSION
Ivan Williamson, age 26, of Clayton, was
sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and
three years of supervised release for felon in
possession of a firearm.
According to the Department of Justice, the
indictment alleged that on or about February
9, Williamson, having been convicted of a
crime punishable by imprisonment for a term
exceeding one year, did knowingly possess in
and affecting commerce, a firearm which had
been shipped and transported in interstate
commerce.
The charge arose from an investigation by
the Clayton Police Department and the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester said, “I am thankful that the Clayton
Police Department and the ATF worked together on this case to bring Mr.
Williamson to justice. Prosecuting felons for unlawfully possessing firearms is
one of the many ways that the United States Attorney’s Office can work with
federal, state and local agencies to protect the public that we all serve.”
The Honorable James H. Payne, U.S. District Judge in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided
over the hearing. The defendant will remain in custody pending transportation
to the designated federal facility at which the nonparoleable sentence will be
served.

OKLAHOMA ICAC TASK
FORCE NABS 12 IN STING
An Enid man was taken into custody after he was found passed out
in his home from too much booze
while caring for a 3-year-old child.
Thomas Marroquin, 22, was
charged August 28 with felony
child neglect in Garfield County
District Court.
According to reports, a delivery
driver from Golden Chick found
Marroquin passed out in his living
room floor and called police. When
an officer arrived, he tried to wake
Marroquin, but he was unresponsive. After shaking the man’s arm,
Marroquin finally awoke and sat up. When the officer asked Marroquin why he
was passed out, Marroquin said he had been drinking.
The officer could also smell the odor of marijuana in the house and Marroquin allegedly admitted to the officer that he had smoked some earlier in the
day. He led the officer to a roach and grinder on the dinning room table, which
was within reach of the child.
Marroquin’s girlfriend, who was at work, was called to come home for the
child and Marroquin was taken to the Garfield County jail.
Bond for Marroquin was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled to return to
court with an attorney on October 16 at 1:15 pm.

TALK ABOUT BIRD BRAIN…
Game Warden Ben Bickerstaff, of
Alfalfa county, received a call of a suspicious person camping well inside
the closed area on the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge. Upon contacting the suspect, Warden Bickerstaff
found two owl talons on the dash of
the vehicle.
Further investigation awarded 18
raptor talons, several loose avian feathers, raptor wings, wood pecker feet
and many other bird parts. Five deer hides and numerous other fur bearing
wildlife parts were also in possession.
In addition to the illegal wildlife parts law enforcement located and seized a
jar of psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana and pipe, and a psychedelic mushroom honey mixture.
After the search two recently discarded raptor carcasses were located on
the refuge near where the suspect camped.
Federal Wildlife Officer Shelby Finney (USFWS) and Lt. Ryan Webster (Oklahoma State Parks) were also on the scene helping process copious amount
of evidence.
On a funny note the suspect had a bag of live tarantulas that were quite a
surprise to the officers searching.
Obviously several state and federal charges are pending.

A man wanting to stay sober volunteered to serve part of his friend’s one-month
drunk-driving sentence. The 51-year-old Swede wanted to see if he could pose as
his friend and fool the justice system, but he was discovered two weeks into the
sentence. The man said, “I wanted to go to jail to stop myself from drinking for a few
weeks. My pal didn’t think it would work. He agreed to let me try. I borrowed his ID
card and identified myself as him at the prison.” He has since been charged with perjury and wrongful use of another person’s identity.
A Golden Gate Estates man couldn’t fool anybody when he tried to get his vehicle
registration renewed with a fake license, Collier sheriff’s deputies said. Marcial Montes-Lopez, 29, of the 1100 block of 21st Street Southwest, used a driver’s license
described in an arrest report as “obviously fake because of the cartoonish photo and
vibrant colors,” deputies wrote in an arrest report. He faces a single charge of possessing a counterfeit driver’s license. Montes-Lopez was trying to renew his registration at a Collier County Tax Collector’s office in Golden Gate when employees spotted
the fake ID, deputies said. The license number on the ID was issued to Montes-Lopez
but expired in July 2010, the report said.
A man facing drug trafficking charges made a strong first impression at his court
appearance in Broward County when he showed up wearing a “crack shirt.” The shirt
included instructions for making crack cocaine.
Chilean doctors say a 266 pound man who was shot in the stomach was saved
by his rolls of fat. They say the bullet lodged in the man’s fat and did not damage
any vital organs. A thinner person would have been killed immediately. A hospital
spokesperson in Santiago says the man’s thick layer of fat acted in the same way as
a bulletproof vest, taking the impact of the shot. La Cuarta newspaper reports Omar
Alegria Campos, who’s 33, was driving his bus in the San Bernardo area of Santiago
when an armed man got on and started robbing passengers. Alegria stopped the bus
and switched on his emergency lights to alert the police. He then tried to grab the
man’s weapon. The attacker fired twice. The first bullet smashed the windscreen and
the second lodged in the bus driver’s stomach. Despite the wound, Alegria managed
to throw himself on top of the robber, stopping him from escaping. A passing police
patrol arrested the 29-year-old attacker. They also took Alegria to El Pino Hospital,
where doctors extracted the bullet and sewed up the wound.
Two northern Arizona parents were arrested after photos of their young children
allegedly being abused were posted on Facebook. An anonymous Facebook user
reportedly alerted authorities on Wednesday after seeing two children, an infant and a
toddler, bound with duct tape around their wrists and ankles in photos posted to the
social networking site. In the photos, the 2-year-old and 10-month-old are allegedly
bound with duct tape around their wrists and ankles. Their mouths were also closed
shut with duct tape. Police said one of the children was hung upside down on an
exercise apparatus. Jayla Hamm, who was 17 at the time of the abuse, received 10
days in jail and two years probation. Her boyfriend, Corde Honea, 19, an ex-convict,
was sentenced to three to five years for child abuse and received an additional 12 to
24 months on felony possession of stolen firearms.

Bryan County deputies had their hands full September 23 after an intoxicated man went on a rampage in Cartwright.
Shelby Royston, 31, of Mead, was charged September 25 with possession of explosive device,
malicious injury to property under $1000, larceny of
gasoline, attempted assault and battery, disturbing
the peace, and public intoxication, in Bryan County
District Court.
HERE… HOLD MY BEER
BOTTLE MOLOTOV COCKTAIL
According to court information, Royston stole gas
from the Lucky stop and tried to beat up a guy, but ROYSTON
instead managed to bust out the windshield in the
guy’s truck. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Royston in
possession of a beer bottle containing gasoline with a fabric stuck in it as
a wick- a molotov cocktail.
The court information did not elaborate on what Royston planned to do
with his beer bottle cocktail.
Royston was taken into custody and booked into the Bryan County jail.
His bond was set at $20,000.

20 | NOVEMBER 2017 BRYAN COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

FOR LOVE AND WEED
Two trustees with the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office went on a two-hour hiatus
from jail to see their girlfriends and to smoke
a little weed.
Harley Davidson, 37, and Rakeem Lennox,
25, both were charged with felony escape
from county jail in Choctaw County District
Court.
Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park said that
on Wednesday, October 11, at around 10:30
pm, Davidson and Lennox decided to kipe
the key to the laundry room door while jailers
were busy in other parts of jail.
Reports state the pair snuck into the booking room, got the key, and then left the facility.
After about two hours of hanging out with
their girlfriends and smoking some weed, Davidson and Lennox walked back to the jail,
according to Park.
Bond was set at $100,000 for Davidson
and $125,000 for Lennox.
Davidson was in jail for knowingly concealing stolen property and Lennox on drug and
weapons charges.

Q: Can I explore treatment centers even if my friend is not willing to go into
treatment? What should I look for in a treatment center?
A: Yes. If you find centers that might appeal to your friend, either by their location or medical approach, it might encourage him or her to enter treatment.
You can call this helpline and get some advice on how to proceed: 1-800-
662-HELP (4357) (This service is supported by the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services.) You can also look for a treatment center online, which
will allow you to search for a treatment center in your area and also give you
information about the kind of addiction or patients it treats.
Treatment approaches must be tailored to address each patient’s drug
abuse patterns and also other medical, psychiatric, and social problems.
Some treatment centers offer outpatient treatment programs, which allow
patients to continue to perform some daily responsibilities. However, many
people do better in inpatient (residential) treatment. An addiction specialist
can advise your friend or loved one about the most promising options.
NIDA’s Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment compiles 30 years of research into a set of general principles and frequently asked questions about
effective treatment. Using these principles, NIDA has developed a booklet
that outlines 5 questions you can ask when looking for a quality treatment
program. You might want to have these materials on hand when you talk to
treatment centers to help you ask the right questions.
