Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty ROGERS COUNTY 3 | JANUARY 2018
Fire down below
Parents and their children arguing is a tale
as old as time – most people argue, make up
and continue on with their lives. Not everyone, though.
A 35-year-old Claremore man admitted to
setting his mom’s house on fire only a couple
of days after Christmas because he was extremely angry after an argument he had with
her.
According to reports, Claremore officers
and the fire department responded to a
house fire in the 1200 block of Easy Street on
Wednesday, December 27. While on scene
of the structure fire, dispatch advised officers
that the suspect was already in custody.
They said Jose Gonzalez Aponte had turned himself in at the Rogers County Jail. He said he was responsible for the fire.
Why would he start the fire? He told officers that he and his mother had
gotten into an argument earlier that day. The argument ended, but Aponte
apparently wasn’t over it. He told investigators he was still extremely angry
with his mother following the verbal dispute, so he decided to do the logical
thing -- he was going to burn down his parents’ home.
He said he then went to the garage and used a match set a gasoline can
on fire.
Aponte didn’t just set the house on fire, he also endangered his mother’s
life; the woman was inside the home when he started the fire.
Aponte was booked into the Rogers County Jail for the charge of first-degree arson. Bond information and court date were unavailable at time of print.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty ROGERS COUNTY 5 | JANUARY 2018
Mohammad Ashan, believed to be a low-level member of the Taliban, turned himself
in in order to collect the reward for his own capture. The reward was apparently about
$100.
Michael Fuller went to Walmart and tried to buy a vacuum, a microwave and a few
other items. The cashier knew that Fuller was up to no good when he attempted to
pay for his purchases with a $1 million bill.
Lukasz Chojnowski reportedly broke into an elderly couple’s home while they were
away on vacation. When the couple returned home, they found Lukasz sleeping in
their bed, earning him the nickname “Goldilocks” in the press. Reportedly, Lukasz did
such a good job of tidying up the house and reorganizing it that the couple offered to
hire him as their butler.
Logan James decided to play a game of cat and mouse with the local police department, posting “catch me if you can” on the department’s Facebook page. Well,
shortly after James posted his poorly thought out comment, the police did just that;
they caught him and booked him.
Klaus Schmidt tried to rob a bank. Unfortunately, Klaus is deaf and couldn’t hear the
alarm blaring as he attempted to clean out the place. He didn’t hear the police coming,
and the whole thing was an epic fail.
John Pearce was attempting to burglarize a home when he got his foot caught
in a bay window. He was left dangling there for about 30 minutes before police and
paramedics arrived.
Tiffany Campbell and John Arwood were apparently on a lot of meth when they
wound up hiding in a janitor’s college at Daytona State College in Florida. Apparently,
Campbell and Arwood thought they were locked in the closet, so they stayed there for
two days before finally calling the police. As it turns out, the closet was unlocked the
entire time. Apparently, meth makes things very confusing.
Joey Miller and Matthew McNeilly reportedly broke into several apartments while in
deep disguise. Evidently, when the police pulled them over, they still had their permanent-marker disguises scribbled on their faces.
Gary Rough held up a bookmaker’s in Scotland with what the clerk believed to be a
firearm. As it turns out, it was a cucumber with a sock on it. Rough earned a 40-month
sentence for his produce-related crime.
A lady in Costa Rica attempted to steal a flat screen TV by putting it up her dress,
between her legs. Apparently, store employees noticed that something about the
woman looked off.
Dorian Walker-Gaines and Dillan Thompson stole an iPad and some other belongings from a man’s truck in Houston. The two then posted some celebratory selfies,
which made it easy for police to apprehend them, thanks to the owner’s iCloud.
Darren Kimpton reportedly attempted to rob a house that was full of police. He had
reportedly just robbed the home, and investigators were still at the premises when
Kimpton decided to strike again.
Andrew Hennells posted on Facebook that he was planning to rob a Tesco store.
A few minutes later, he did exactly that. He certainly made things easier for the police.

TAKING EXTREME MEASURES
Nowata man Eldon John Ironhawk Jr., 38,
was arrested after he allegedly stole a pack of
cigarettes on November 28.
According to the affidavit, Nowata officers
were dispatched to a convenience store in the
500 block of S. Ash around 11 a.m. due to an
intoxicated male on premises. When they arrived, an officer saw a man exit the store. He
appeared to tell the cashier “shh” with his finger
and mouth as he walked outside.
The man, later identified as Ironhawk, was
swaying and stumbling and smelled like alcohol. He tried to walk past officers as he made
his way to a red truck. An officer stopped him from getting in the vehicle
by shutting the door.
Another man walked up and said that the red truck was his and he didn’t
know who the man who was trying to get into it was.
Ironhawk backed away from officers. When he was informed he was
under arrest for public intoxication, he said he knew he was drunk, but he
was only trying to get home. He continued to resist, so officers pulled out
their tasers. He eventually put his hands behind his back.
Police took Ironhawk to a patrol car and told him to sit down. He refused, and instead, charged officers in an aggressive manner. Two officers
deployed their tasers, but Ironhawk grabbed one of the tasers and tried
to take it away.
Police were eventually able to get control of the man and put him in the
car.
After Ironhawk was transported to jail, officers viewed surveillance footage of the incident.
The video showed Ironhawk stumble into the store and approach the
counter. He started arguing with the store owner and another customer.
Ironhawk then started to walk around the counter. The owner placed boxes and other items in the way to stop him, but the man threw the items
around and made it around the counter. Ironhawk took a pack of cigarettes and left the store.
The owner told police Ironhawk became angry when he tried to buy
cigarettes and his card was declined. He claimed he had an AK-47. Both
the owner and the customer in the video said they felt as though Ironhawk
was threatening their lives.
Ironhawk is being charged with first-degree robbery, public intoxication
and obstructing officer. His bond was set at $50,000.

WHAT IS SUBSTANCE
ABUSE TREATMENT LIKE?
Everyone entering treatment
for a substance use disorder is
unique. That is why the patient
and the treatment staff work
together to develop an individualized treatment plan. It may
include some type of behavioral treatment (“talk therapy”)
designed to engage the patient in the treatment process, alter destructive
attitudes and behaviors related to drug use, and increase healthy life skills.
Behavioral treatment can also enhance the effectiveness of medications that
might be available and help patients stay in treatment longer.
Treatment for substance use disorders can be delivered in many different
settings using a variety of different approaches. The following treatments are
a few of many:
• detoxification (the process by which the body rids itself of a drug)
• behavioral counseling
• medication (for opioid, tobacco, or alcohol addiction)
• evaluation and treatment for co-occurring mental health issues such as
depression and anxiety
• long-term follow-up to prevent relapse
A range of care with a tailored treatment program and follow-up options
can be crucial to success. Treatment should include both medical and mental
health services as needed. Follow-up care may include community- or family-based recovery support systems.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty DELAWARE COUNTY 21 | JANUARY 2018
police searching for
car theft suspect
A warrant has been issued for Holly Marie
Molloy’s arrest in the amount of $40,000.
Jay man Robbie Cole Denny, 29, and
19-year-old Holly Molloy of Broken Arrow
allegedly stole a vehicle sometime on October 22.
According to the affidavit, the vehicle’s
owner contacted Jay police and advised
her car had been stolen sometime the
night before. She located her vehicle and
stopped it, along with two occupants on
Highway 59 near CR 596.
The officer arrived on scene to find the
victim standing outside both vehicles. She told the officer, “They just
took off running,” and pointed across Highway 59 toward CR E440.
The woman identified the suspects as Denny and “the female”
(later identified as Molloy), who had been in a store an hour before
cashing checks from Denny’s grandmother.
The victim said Molloy was driving and when the vehicle came to
a stop, Denny jumped out. He briefly apologized to her before he
took off running. Molloy asked if she could get her stuff out of the
vehicle. When the woman told her no, Molloy took off running after
Denny.
As the woman filled out a statement, the officer noticed two backpacks in the backseat. She advised that the packs didn’t belong to
her.
The officer searched the backpacks and found women’s items,
caps from hypodermic needles, and the names of both suspects
written down with cash totals next to them. In the center console,
the officer found broken green stems and a small amount of what
appeared to be a green leafy substance. The amount was too small
to test.
The officer then went to Denny’s grandmother’s house to see if
he could find the suspects. He asked her if she had written checks
for the couple. She responded, “Yes, I had to…I would get hurt if I
didn’t.”
She said both suspects had warrants for their arrest. Denny’s
mother advised she had received a phone call from her son who
sounded “out of breath” shortly before officers arrived at the house.
Both Denny and Molloy are being charged with extortion by means
not amounting to robbery and knowingly concealing stolen property. Denny was later arrested and his bond was set at $40,000.

Vinita attorney locked up for
shooting softball coach
A Vinita attorney was arrested after he allegedly shot another man multiple times during an altercation on December 15.
57-year-old Karl David Jones told police
the victim had threatened to beat him up earlier that day.
According to reports, Jones went to a
home near Highway 60 and South 4440
Road where he was an uninvited “guest.” He
later told officers that the victim had called
him and threatened to beat him up before he
went to the home. He made contact with the
victim, who was at the property, and the two
men started arguing. The verbal altercation
soon became physical as the men grappled
in the front yard of the house.
At some point during the fight, Jones took out a gun. The victim backed
away from the man when he saw the firearm.
Jones told Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation investigators that he
took out the weapon because the victim had hit him in the back during the
physical altercation. The men continued to argue, and they both went inside
the home.
Responders took the victim to a Tulsa hospital, where he was admitted in
critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later moved out of
the intensive care unit and is expected to make a full recovery.
Jones was placed under arrest and booked into the Craig County Jail. He is
being charged with shooting with intent to kill. His bond was set at $250,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 23, 2018.

That ain’t my truck
Miami man Tyson Eugene Callahan,
35, was arrested after an officer found him
slumped over in the driver’s seat of a stolen
vehicle on December 5.
According to the police report, a Miami officer was on patrol when he saw a blue truck
in the far left lane in the 100 block of A Street
shortly after 6 a.m. He drove by the truck and
saw a man slumped over in the driver’s seat.
He stopped and woke up the driver, who was
later identified as Callahan.
The man’s speech was thick and slurred,
and he appeared to have a hard time completing thoughts. He also had a hard time
finding his driver’s license and started digging
around the truck.
While looking through his pockets, two
clear baggies fell to the ground. The baggies contained a white powdery residue that field-tested positive as meth.
The officer placed the man under arrest and searched the truck. He found
a smoking pipe with burnt residue, a digital scale with white powdery residue,
a semi-automatic pistol and some bullets.
While checking the man’s info, the officer discovered that the tag on the
truck belonged to another vehicle. The ignition in the truck was also missing.
The truck’s registration had expired in 2014, but it wasn’t registered as stolen.
When the wrecker service arrived on scene to impound the vehicle, the officer spoke with the business owner, who remembered impounding the vehicle
on November 13. He said the vehicle should have still been at his business,
and it appeared that someone had taken it off his fenced lot.
Callahan is being charged with possession of stolen vehicle, possession
of firearm during commission of a felony, possession of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication
and affixing improper license plate. His bond was set at $12,512, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2018.
